It's all hype? Or you can actually get BTC1000 just like that?)
What do you think? Some random person on reddit got the money. It is also quite possible or likely that they were the person who's giving out the money themselves. It was unrealistic to truly think there's a decent chance to receive half a million dollars for no apparent reason. I did post an address as well though, but mostly forgot about it afterwards.

1000 BTC giveaway outrageous ......why not split the bounty to a 1000 people as suggested just to convince us the doubting Thomas's on how legit you are
You need to read up on the details of this further. There was no reason to split it up as it was likely not legit in the first place. The story is over anyways. We are likely not going to hear from neither the OP nor the winner again (or at least not for a while).

10968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need your Opinion on this guys! Please help. Best BTC WALLET for you. on: August 15, 2016, 12:14:39 PM
wallet on your phone will be quite risky because any person could borrow your cell phone and maybe he is a bad person and then hack to your mobile phone.
Why would you borrow your phone with a lot of money in it to someone? Do you borrow your wallet packed with money to "any person"?

I would recommend using blockchain highly trusted and full control
Bad advice as always. Blockchain.info, and generally any web wallet should be avoided when possible.

I am satisfied with blockchain performance and dont feel the need to switch to another wallet
You should switch to any desktop wallet as soon as possible.

For cold storage or hardware wallet bitcoin core is the best if you are willing to store some bitcoins
Not necessarily. An (currently outdated) example of a nice alternative is Armory.

blockchain can be considered for daily transactions as it is easy and fast
I don't see why Core can't be use for daily transactions unless you really have outdated hardware. Syncing only takes a few minutes.
10969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brain wallet password based on fingerprint? on: August 15, 2016, 11:19:47 AM
AFAIK only Samsung used a fingerprint scanner on screen and they've already ditched that... But yeah, I kind of get your point Cheesy
You mean on the Galaxy S5?

That would have to be weighed in regarding data randomness obtained in both methods and if the security given by one method tops over the cost saving the other method offers.
I'd say generally, that the retina scan should provide better security however there are obviously important factors that play a role in this. I wonder how secure the iris scanner in the latest Galaxy Note is.

Since it would only be to recover a passphrase, I'm not sure if it would be all that impractical (you would only use it once in a while). We would probably have to build hardware for that tho... Lips are very distinct, and they're also used for investigation in forensics, hence my idea Smiley
Indeed. It is less impractical if rarely used, although I do wonder the implications of this. From what I've gathered, there's only some research in this area.

Fingerprints aren't safe wallets since they are basically really easy to replicate even with simple household items.
This statement is incorrect. You may be able to pull decent fingerprints, but that is inadequate for one to bypass fingerprint security easily.

Thanks for sharing the post. The author makes a very good point by stating that compromised fingerprints can not be changed (which is the exact opposite of passwords).

Haha I thought I missed something in two days and blockchain wss voted for the official wallet. That got me trembled a bit and some pee in my pants.  Grin
All this useless and wrong advice needs to be deleted. These people have no idea what they're talking about.

Some people do really advices you to have a dekstop wallet but for me if your pc is not that secure. You are just like me who uses free anti virus then i would not recommend that one. There are a lot of online wallets that are already established so you dont have to worry
That is only correct if you don't know how to properly use the internet and stay safe. If malware infects your machine, it is likely going to empty your online wallets as well so it won't matter.

As we see, BLOCKCHAIN is leading the poll.. But, I'll still wait for others comments and votes for me to decide..
Stay away from that trash.

I think that Blockchain is the best, have lots of futures and very good for a beginner
No. It is much better to use a SPV wallet than an online one.

i prefer and vote with blockchain, because i have account on there.
That's a very bad choice.
10971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is virtual currency for criminal on: August 15, 2016, 09:46:44 AM
You're friend is a primary example of an ignorant person that is being led on by the media. Jumping to conclusions just based on what you've heard somewhere is very wrong. I would argue that a currency that can not be used for everything (this includes all types of illegal stuff) is not a true currency.

You can use bitcoin to buy candies and US dollars to buy drugs, that's up to you, the money doesn't spend itself.
Nicely said. Isn't it ironic how the western media sometimes portrays Bitcoin as a currency used by criminals when the US dollar is the primary currency used in everything illegal.

Lot of people now a days said that person who have bitcoin is they are using it for the illegal activities online.
Simply put, such people are ignorant idiots.
10972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need your Opinion on this guys! Please help. Best BTC WALLET for you. on: August 15, 2016, 01:06:24 AM
since blockchain is official wallet of bitcoins but still i have voted for bitcoincore because in the present time it is a best wallet in performance .

There is no such thing as a "official wallet of Bitcoin". Stop posting bullshit and do some research.
10973  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I need your Opinion on this guys! Please help. Best BTC WALLET for you. on: August 15, 2016, 12:57:38 AM
Let's clear a general misconception: Bitcoin that are on an address of which you do not own the keys are not your Bitcoin. That being said, keeping a lot of money of online services and exchanges is definitely discouraged. There's a good chance that you will get burned.

Bitcoin core for full wallet.  Electrum for SPV wallet.
Indeed.

Bet we'll see some replies recommending exchange wallets.
Unfortunately, people with limited knowledge tend to give out bad advice.

Generally these things are of low priority and thus sometimes take a lot of time. You should post the signed message here and bump this thread every now and then (weekly is fine). Your PM (if singular) probably got burried.

10977  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to register just to post in 1 giveaway thread over and over? on: August 14, 2016, 10:38:01 PM
i see some of you think that this guy (or others like him) is (are) just spamming? farming account?
A individual user doesn't really matter in this case. The idea behind the thread was to generally gain insight into the situation in the particular section.

so do you really think that not counting posts there or even removing it would help?
Generally, it would prevent people from abusing that section to farm up their accounts without hurting the people that genuinely just want to participate in a giveaway.

i don't think so especially if such users are just creating accounts to obtain a tiny rewards to gamble with it.
The solution won't have an effect on those, since they should not care about the activity and post count if they're genuine participants.

just neglect him (them) or added a neutral trust about a possible farming account and move on...
We should neglect account farmer or add neutral trust? This does nothing at all.
10978  Other / Meta / Re: How To Report Moderators Idiot ???? on: August 14, 2016, 09:54:59 PM
I've noticed one of your reports and decided to respond to this thread. You could work a bit on your wording since it could be easily misunderstood. You reported an old bump (although there were plenty) as spam bumps (which could imply several bumps within a certain time-frame).

I just want Moderator do the same for all members not picky. report 5 thread, we look at what is done Moderators in 24 hours.
Well, there are many moderators on the team and stuff may get handled a bit different since some of it is subjective. It also depends on what you're reporting and who you're reporting. As an example: It is much easier to handle a spam post made by a bot, than reporting someone as a troll (which takes time and investigation). Additionally, it depends on whether you're reporting newbies & users of higher ranks. This is because there are only a few global moderators that handle users of higher ranks (while the patroller report list is usually empty due to there being several patrollers).
10979  Other / Meta / Re: Would this be acceptable, or is it against BCT rules? on: August 14, 2016, 09:32:14 PM
This wont mean I'm encouraging them to post in order to get paid, from my POV.
As long as you take care of the campaign it should be fine. You need to keep a good eye out for people writing posts of very low value just in order to get paid. There are a few signature campaigns that do not care about the quality of their users input which is very detrimental to the overall picture here. You can find other signature campaigns in the Services sub-forum.
10980  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brain wallet password based on fingerprint? on: August 14, 2016, 03:48:28 PM
Great idea Lauda! I'll take 3. Just send me a PM when you're doing the beta testing and I'd be happy to lend an eye hand.
I hope that you're not being serious. Cheesy

But yes, I agree 100% on retina scanning, as I've also suggested in my post. That would be the future. I'm curious as to what kind of randomness can we "extract" from an iris, as stated in my first post.
I'm pretty sure that people around here don't know that there's a difference between retina and iris scans. Retina scanning should provide better security but it does come with higher equipment costs.

But building further on the fingerprint idea: you can further enhance the security of something protected by fingerprinting using one's lips. So 10 fingerprints + lips print would be way much more harder to obtain and it wouldn't make the process of recovering a wallet a bigger burden.
Lip print? That would be very impractical if you ask me, but an interesting suggestion nonetheless.

cmon guys... i'm sure the fingerprint idea isnt to secure the nacional bank.. it's not like any thief close to you will know how much bitcoins you have and where you keep them..much less know that your password is your fingerprint AND know how to replicate it.
You may be right if we are talking about trivial amounts that almost nobody would want to steal anyways. Otherwise you're naive and wrong. People are willing to do all kinds of 'bad' things for money.
