10961  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Beware of coinbase account closure! on: October 23, 2019, 04:07:08 PM
Unfortunate. But I don't think accounts getting locked/closed due to funds coming from/to gambling sites is really nothing new.

Anyway, since you can't use Coinbase now, take this opportunity to try out the more decentralized exchanges we have right now like Bisq[1]. You probably can't instantly buy/sell bitcoin on decent prices, but you won't have any problems like what you had with Coinbase. If you aren't in a rush, just set buy/sell offers yourself.

10962  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk does not have official logo, right? It's a good time now to make one. on: October 23, 2019, 03:35:39 PM
As far as I know this is the official logo.
This icon is displayed I all bitcointalk pages, on the top of the browser also called favicon

https://bitcointalk.org/favicon.ico

https://en.bitcoin.it/w/images/en/5/50/Bitcoin.png

Regardless if this is the forum's actual logo or simply just the forum's Favicon, I'd say this should be the logo even if we already move to the new Epochtalk forum. The logo might be very dated compared to today's modern logos, this is the logo that we've been seeing on our Bitcointalk browser tab as far as we can remember.
10963  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New CRYPTOPHONE have got launched. The market adoption keeps growing. on: October 22, 2019, 05:04:30 PM
The way I read on the news is that this phone is soon coming to the market. I think we have the same reaction. I was assuming that running a full node can benefit someone who owns the gadget with this program option but there is nothing to be gained there. Maybe it is just the idea that you are now part of something trendy like the blockchain and Bitcoin and therefore what you are holding in your hands can be very valuable.

There are actually advantages of running your own full node. When you run your own full node, you are literally your own bank. When you use most common wallets like Electrum, though they're trusted, you're merely trusting a third party in some way. You have more security(assuming you store your private keys in a secure manner) and privacy when running your own full node. Not because they don't pay you, it doesn't automatically mean there's nothing to be gained.

10964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What Would Happen To Bitcoin If The World Had To Go Into Recession? on: October 22, 2019, 04:46:05 PM
So the article has failed to point the impact on bitcoin in case of a recession! We all know there are only two ways, either it goes up or down! Chance is, that bitcoin will see new height in case there is a recession! Recession usually impacts the trust of the mass! In case the trust factor comes to play, precious metals and bitcoin are expected to see heavy demand!

Well, let's be honest here. What did you expect? It obviously failed to point out the impact simply because nobody knows until it actually happens. I'd rather have an article being neutral and accepting that there's really no way to know for sure that's going to happen rather than an article claiming that X is guaranteed to happen.

Also, you're assuming that the masses actually trusts bitcoin. The masses still looks at bitcoin as an investment vehicle instead of an hedge in economic uncertainty.
10965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New CRYPTOPHONE have got launched. The market adoption keeps growing. on: October 22, 2019, 11:39:30 AM
If Im a regular bitcoin user with a bitcoin wallet on my phone installed that can be use everyday to pay for my friends and to online stores that accepts bitcoin do I have to purchase another phone like this that can run a node? Is there any importance or advantages of using it? I think its not so practical using this kind of phone in my point of view, just a waste of money.

If you want to run a node, just run a node on your computer and store only a small amounts on your mobile wallet. Just like pooya87 said, running a node on your mobile phone is taking it a bit too far unless you find it ok for your phone to be frequently syncing, as it's going to drain your data limit and battery.

As for running a node, take it from the man himself, Andreas Antonopoulos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oX0Yrv-6jVs (P.S. There is no financial incentive to run a node if that's what you're thinking).
10966  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro | Which one is better? on: October 22, 2019, 11:34:13 AM
A better 'con' for Binance is that they're in a sort of gray area in terms of regulations; hence Binance has different versions(e.g. Binance(international), Binance Jersey, Binance US).

That grey area is tightening every month that goes by, where the end result will be that a whole lot of no-kyc users will be trapped inside Binance's ecosystem. The only way out is to hand over Binance your ID and whatnot, but after what happened with their third party kyc desk, I'm not sure if that's smart to do.

I'm sure that Binance has taken some extra security measures, but nothing guarantees you that they don't still use a kyc desk somewhere in India or other third world country.

I put much more confidence in Coinbase in that regard, and they haven't ever been hacked as far as I'm aware of, and they are less likely to hire a third party kyc desk.

Oh I definitely see it coming in the future. Might be in more than a year, but that day is probably coming. New Jersey and the United States are the first pieces of the domino, and the other dominoes are up next to fall in the future.

But yea, thankfully Binance is announcing AML/KYC restrictions ahead of time(a month in advanced I think?), so the effect isn't that bad compared to some exchanges that require AML/KYC information all of a sudden.
10967  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi Wallet - Looking For Honest Reviews on: October 22, 2019, 10:56:17 AM
From your post I understand that Jaxx is not recommended. What about other wallets?

Coinomi should do fine. I haven't tried using and I haven't researched about other wallets like the Trust wallet so I really can't comment on it. Just go with Coinomi if you don't have much, and go with hardware wallets like Trezor[1] and Ledger[2] if you have a significant amounts of money invested into cryptocurrencies.

Storing my funds on something that's in my pocket/hand every single day? That's a no for me dawg. This is ridiculously unnecessary in my opinion. Also, what's the advantage of this compared to just using ABCore?

Also, it's funny how media news sites are calling this a "blockchain phone".
10969  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro | Which one is better? on: October 22, 2019, 05:25:29 AM
- Collect users data such as IP addresses

To be fair, I'm pretty sure every exchange does it for security reasons; as for them to get notified if your account was logged in from an IP address of a different country. A better 'con' for Binance is that they're in a sort of gray area in terms of regulations; hence Binance has different versions(e.g. Binance(international), Binance Jersey, Binance US).
10970  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Aegis Authenticator, isang maganda alternative sa Google Authenticator/Authy on: October 22, 2019, 03:46:17 AM

You're welcome.
10971  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Coinomi Wallet - Looking For Honest Reviews on: October 22, 2019, 01:17:10 AM
If I were to hold a small amount of various non-bitcoin cryptocurrencies on my mobile phone, I'd use Coinomi wallet. Why? Well, it simply does the job; and I'd say it's better than Jaxx(vulnerability issues in the past, and that devs aren't willing to fix stuff).

Though of course, I'd only store a small amount of funds on Coinomi or on any other mobile wallet simply due to security reasons. For bigger amounts, I'd still stick with a Ledger or a Trezor.
10972  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro | Which one is better? on: October 22, 2019, 01:05:15 AM
Binance is a more advanced cryptocurrency exchange compared to Coinbase Pro as Binance has more cryptocurrencies to trade.
Not saying that Coinbase Pro is superior to Binance(because I have no idea what's going on in their back-end software), but more coins =/= more advanced.

Coinbase Pro is a very small cryptocurrency exchange with fewer crypto trading pairs compared to Binance. Binance trading volume almost triple the Coinbase trading volume.
Coinbase Pro has a lot less trading volume compared to Binance(obviously, because Binance supports a lot more coins/tokens), but Coinbase Pro is definitely not a "very small" cryptocurrency exchange.
10973  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Aegis Authenticator, isang maganda alternative sa Google Authenticator/Authy on: October 21, 2019, 11:58:06 PM

Makukuha nalang niya to through leaked user credentials(pag pare pareho user/pass ng mga logins mo sa mga online accounts mo), or through bruteforcing(pag madaling hulaan at maiksi user/pass mo).
10974  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Top 100 Richest BTC Wallets on: October 21, 2019, 04:23:12 PM
The advantage of bitcoin's pseudo-anonymity. You can stay anonymous as long as you you know what you're doing.

If 6 and 7 isn't an exchange as well, chances are, probably some custody holding wallet like probably from Barry Silbert's Grayscale. Anyway, don't spend too much time guessing and trying to find who these wallets belong too as your time is better spent doing something else more productive.
10975  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro | Which one is better? on: October 21, 2019, 04:07:36 PM
I dont have much experience on using up Coinbase pro but pretty sure that they are much more heavily regulated.

Definitely. You don't even have to do research to come to a conclusion that Coinbase is a lot likely to be more regulated compared to Binance. Coinbase is operating in the United States which is obviously a lot stricter with it's laws, whereas binance had to hop countries and ended up in Malta for them to be able to continue operating.

10976  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Aegis Authenticator, isang maganda alternative sa Google Authenticator/Authy on: October 21, 2019, 03:58:04 PM
Yes. As long as iisang database lang naman ang gamit mo.

Follow the usual account password requirements for better security(40 characters, with numbers and symbols, etc).
10977  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Binance vs Coinbase Pro | Which one is better? on: October 21, 2019, 03:34:19 PM
Binance if you trade a wide variety of cryptocurrencies.

Coinbase Pro if you only trade a small number of cryptocurrencies(Coinbase has like 20+ in contrast to Binance's hundreds). The advantage of Coinbase is that it's more regulated hence a scamquit sort of move is a lot less likely to happen.

Regardless of choice, do not store funds on exchanges unnecessarily. Why? Because this: https://cryptosec.info/exchange-hacks/
10978  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Airdrop or Bounty on: October 21, 2019, 02:48:04 PM
Neither. The only thing that's going to be worth doing is signature campaigns in my opinion. It's the one that mostly pays decently, and is pretty much almost the closest thing to "free money", assuming you're going to read and post on Bitcointalk in the first place.

Airdrops and most bounty campaigns though? I personally think they're a waste of time. I'd rather do gigs online instead.
10979  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Curious for places for trading Crypto on: October 21, 2019, 02:34:38 PM
If you're trading cryptocurrencies in general, not bitcoin only, probably Binance[1].

Just to let you know, majority of traders lose money. Hopefully that information scares you enough to not deposit a huge amount and go mindlessly gamble through your trades. Do a lot of research first before attempting to trade; and always start with small amounts of funds. Best of luck.

Also, move this to the Trading Discussion[2] section. The move option is on the bottom left side of this page.

10980  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Aegis Authenticator, isang maganda alternative sa Google Authenticator/Authy on: October 21, 2019, 02:25:45 PM

As always, security first. Take into consideration ung risks pag sa ibang tao napunta ung 2fa database mo.
