1101  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much of a role does alcohol play in your lives? on: April 30, 2014, 09:33:20 AM
I have some Everclear in the freezer which is 95% alcohol
(190 proof in case anyone thinks I can't divide or multiply)
It shouldn't be drunk straight, but I have and am alive to tell.
1102  Other / Politics & Society / Re: you get Richer as the Older You’ll Get on: April 29, 2014, 05:07:05 PM
I'm pretty sure the last few record holding oldest people on earth were not millionaires. I wonder how big of a factor diet is.
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The problem with the new wave of cryptocurrencies on: April 29, 2014, 11:32:05 AM
What is the point of pre-mining 2-5% of the coins if the project is open source? Can't someone immediately upon release just create an exact copy paste version that simply isn't premined?
1104  Other / Off-topic / Re: Just saved a dead BIOS on: April 28, 2014, 04:18:45 PM
I would not even considered this assuming the test bed mobo would have to be the exact same down to the revision. But it makes sense. Really good thinking there.
1105  Other / Off-topic / Re: Anyone here into game development, what game engine are you using right now? on: April 28, 2014, 04:17:18 PM
At work: In-house engine made from scratch over the last 4 years, targeting next-gen consoles exclusively.
At home: My own home cooked engine (C++/SDL/OpenGL, mainly targeting PC).
In general I find it more fun to reinvent the wheel than making actual games (otherwise I'd probably use Unity)
1106  Other / Off-topic / Re: Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. WTF? on: April 28, 2014, 04:16:20 PM
Several weeks ago, I initially thought, "The Malaysian government is doing the best they can. They're not used to these kind of events."
Now I'm feeling cynical towards them. They fucked up hard by withholding significant information like this; no wonder a single piece of the aircraft hasn't been found yet.
1107  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tax implication for selling bitcoins in UK on: April 28, 2014, 04:15:03 PM
When Bitcoin is exchanged for Sterling or for foreign currencies, such as Euros or Dollars, no VAT will be due on the value of the Bitcoins themselves. However, in all instances, VAT will be due in the normal way from suppliers of any goods or services sold in exchange for Bitcoin or other similar cryptocurrency
1108  Other / Off-topic / Re: I unexpectedly inherited £290,000 and I never dealt with this much money help? on: April 28, 2014, 04:14:08 PM
I would build my website idea I've had in mind since 2 days ago. Use some money to advertise on major tv channels and other large places. Sit back and watch it explode. I would double my money in a years time.
1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you agree with this? USD, Not Bitcoin, Is The Next Digital Currency on: April 28, 2014, 04:11:04 PM
“The future of money will really be on finding ways to transact in a
lower-cost way, and that’s a societal trend, not just bitcoin.” Except that Bitcoin is already a way to transact in a lower-cost way and has been for five years now. Societal trends need the technology first, and approximately five years later.. the masses go 'Oh'
1110  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The crazy regulations that keep American beer bad on: April 28, 2014, 04:09:34 PM
Some American beer is bad. If you're only experience with American beer is with national brands like Budweiser or Coors, you aren't trying hard enough.
1111  Economy / Economics / Re: Using a nations $ fiat is passive support for all of its social & Econmic policy on: April 28, 2014, 04:08:20 PM
I would especially like to point out that supporting a nation's fiat currency also helps that nation to engage in wars that you may not agree with. If you pay taxes, you are complicit in shooting Johnny Afghanistan in the ass and the collateral damage as well, i.e. children. A lot of large nations are run by psychopaths. Evil is alive and well folks.
1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin or Gold? What would you pick? on: April 28, 2014, 04:06:26 PM
Bitcoin. On the street in isn't trivial to verify that gold from some guy is genuine. With Bitcoin it's just a matter of minutes.
1113  Other / Off-topic / Re: 100% Roasted Cocoa as a substitute for coffee? on: April 26, 2014, 07:42:44 PM
What a wonderful idea! I miss coffee very much as I can no longer drink it for medical reasons, so looking forward to trying this. I wonder how it would work using the Aztec morning chocolate recipe? Thank you very much for this post, very interesting and useful!
1114  Other / Off-topic / Re: Owning a Home or Renting on: April 26, 2014, 07:40:29 PM
i think it all depends on what the life goals are of the person and the current financial situation. cheap credit is hard to come by, and down payments are again very important for lenders. If you don’t have 20%, you will pay PMI, which only boosts your mortgage payments. and definitely don’t get a home for the tax deductions, its ridiculous to spend money to get a break on taxes, that’s not the point of tax deductions. If you can afford to buy, you should as long as you expect to live in the area for at least 5 years
1115  Other / Off-topic / Re: Teaching martial arts to children, and Martail Arts in general on: April 26, 2014, 07:39:13 PM
I really like your thoughts on teaching kids self defense. I have a daughter -7 and I want her to learn this too.
1116  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is there anything Taboo in the bedroom? on: April 26, 2014, 07:38:02 PM
We’re quite adventurous but certainly have limits. No bodily waste, nothing that draws blood or leaves long term marks, no choking. But light BDSM, role playing, anal, threesomes, swinging, etc are all cool. By mutual agreement.
1117  Other / Off-topic / Re: Curved glass on cell phones on: April 26, 2014, 07:36:59 PM
I can't really say how I feel about a curved display. Other than the wow factor, I'd say it doesn't matter
1118  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is it possible to create a real live Jurassic Park? on: April 26, 2014, 07:35:44 PM

1119  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin h8r I have a special understanding of why a lot of people don't like it. on: April 26, 2014, 07:33:37 PM
People hate it because the act of mining is utterly worthless and a waste of resources. They hate it because regardless of what proponents say it is deflationary and not effective long term as a currency. They hate it because the concentration of large holders is unappealing.
Then others hate it because right now anyway it is unstable.
1120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How bitcoin is like the internet in the 80s on: April 26, 2014, 07:23:45 PM
When I was in highschool I did not relalize internet was going to be a big thing.  I thought it was cool for free games.   now we have libary of information and communication
