Okay....

Did everyone not read the OP's first sentence?

It's pretty obvious he's being facetious.

Never ends... I say it's a gloomy day and homegirl perceived what I said to mean I'm depressed. Seriously? Comprehension isn't that difficult. I so wanted to entertain the original post, now I'm totally not in the mood.

Just another face of the bitcoin community making it hard for mainstream adoption; idiocracy.

K, off my soapbox now.

1103  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If I am selling BTC on localbitcoins is it safe to accept cash deposit? on: January 02, 2014, 02:07:07 PM
I think its pretty safe. I don't think bank transfers are reversible.

WRONG! Yes, they are.

OP, if they're making a "cash" deposit into your account, how could one, to include the bank, tell whether the cash was obtained illegally? The safest bet is to have the buyer physically go to your bank and make a cash deposit. I wouldn't trust wires or transfers of any kind.

For example if someone were using obtain the ransom obtain from kidnapping and somehow police found out part of the money been  moved into my account. I might be thinking too much but i just plan to play safe..

What kind of people are you going to be dealing with? lol. Any money you ever hold could be stolen money.

I am planning to sell / buy btc at localbitcoins . My curent plan is  to do my homework now before it is too late  Grin

Due to my understanding I might get myself in great trouble if I dint done enuf reasearch before engage in bitcoin trading.

My concern now if I ever come across such cases, therefore how should i react. Prevention method? How to mitigate my risk?

You can't really. I think best bet is to not worry, or if you can't stop worrying or being uncomfortable, maybe trading bitcoin isnt for you.

After reading few cases of bitcoin fraud and scam. I found out that there is a need for me to do case study and go through all the method that can be used. I do plan to  continue buy and sell at local or through exchange.I am totally agree with you that i am worry too much. But no harm if i list out all the risk i might facing and draft my contingency plan.

Okay, I'm curious now. You must be making some mighty big deals. And if that's the case, I think I'd be more worried about getting jacked or some shit!

Yes, you are; thinking too much into it, that is. But let's do a quick exercise. Pull out a bill from your pocket... 9 out 10 that bill has traces of drugs on it. It was probably obtained illegally at one point in its life, right? Ok, to be fair, monies used in ransom could be traced if serial numbers were captured... but wait, bank tellers put all those bills in the same drawer anyways... this can go on and on. Point is, you'll be fine. Hell, at least you have coins to sell.

Bank transfer should be reversible especially receiving unauthorized payment from a stolen bank account. Due to my understanding the bank would at first freeze your bank account for preventing you from withdrawing the money. I my opinion  I would be defenseless if I am facing such cases and  suffer huge losses.

Yip, you're on the right track. That would more than likely happen. Much better outcome with actually depositing money in the account.

Hah. Well I redid my trust list and trusted Theymos directly, moving him one level up... only to see the dreaded Warning appear by my name again... which is what brought it to my attention, but it seemed like it would be a useful thing to have.

Ah! Makes sense.
1109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hi, a couple of hardware questions from a new miner! on: January 02, 2014, 12:57:51 PM
Great news! I haven't known of this, would it be possible for some search terms to learn a bit on the different ways of achieving this? I'm unsure if it's a possibility...but I'm a bit afraid of burning my house down xD. If this is unwarranted then I can definitely understand why you guys recommend this, as I already have two other psus available this would definitely help in my power needs.

There's so much info out there it's overwhelming. I consulted Google:

how to connect two PSUs for mining

top results are from this forum.

I can def understand your concern about burning the house down! lol  I don't know enough to infer whether or not that's a risk for you. It is for my set-up (well, my soon to be setup once I get the other materials). I'll be running a total of 10 cards on two mobos... to be safe, I'm actually upgrading a freaking circuit breaker.

This is cool as hell! lol The graphic looks kinda cartoonish, but the concept is sweet!

I have an idea for you that can take this to another level. I could just do it myself, but I don't have the capital for it, plus it would be wrong to steal your idea Tongue I'll PM you the details.
1112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hi, a couple of hardware questions from a new miner! on: January 02, 2014, 12:35:57 PM
Nope, no risers. 3 270s. I'd say that they have good airflow and the environment is nice, though.
The case is kept in a cool room with available spacing to get air out. The room is probably around 62c all day.
Sounds like you have the cooling requirements under control, then. But you still need risers. Do a forum search on the benefits of getting powered risers.

Hmm. I can use two power supplies for one machine? If so I have an extra 700w lying around and another 500w, as well.

You certainly can. Couple of ways this can be done, ineedit's advice is spot on.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hi, a couple of hardware questions from a new miner! on: January 02, 2014, 12:06:26 PM
1) No... research how much power 270s consume. It's probably around 300w per card. Not to mention you have to account for the power requirements of your mobo

2) It doesn't matter if it's an outdated model or not... power is power. But you need more anyways. If it's cheaper for you to keep it and just get another, the do that. To be safe, you'll probably need another 750w PSU

3) According to the specs, it should be able to handle 5. But even with the 2 you have, please use risers - powered ones so that the cards aren't draining power from your mobo

4) Too many variables to consider to offer suggestions. I would say that $140 isn't bad, although you could've save a buck or two. But by the time you get another mobo to go with your CPU, you might end up paying more. GPU mining isn't CPU intensive

5) Please say you're using risers? Surely you don't have that rig mining away without adequate airflow, right?

$1200 for motherboards and psus?

RickJamesBTC,

I've been searching for a while trying to find cheaper materials. Obviously I can't skimp on the power requirements, and 119 USD is the cheapest I can find for the PSUs, and I need 4 of them. The 2 mobos on the other hand, I'm not having any luck finding anything that can support 5 GPUs at a better cost than the Z87-G45. Do you have any suggestions?
1120  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Should I return my mining hardware? on: December 29, 2013, 06:40:40 PM
I'm confused.  A friend offered to "cover the cost" of PSUs and MoBos. What does that mean exactly?  Was this supposed to be a gift?  What kind of friend does that and why would you expect that from a friend?  Weird.

I didn't ask for him to buy them outright for me, just to help me pay for them. On his own he offered to pay for them completely, then changed his mind. But of course by the time he backed out, I'd already bought all the other materials and spent what I had toward the mobos and PSUs, which coincidentally would've been enough to actually get them on my own at the cheaper prices I found on newegg.

Also, I don't EXPECT to be given anything from a friend, where the hell did you get that?! - stop inferring. But isn't that a perk of having friends; there when you're in need? I have plenty of friends and I'm just as guilty of offering help; sometimes my offer is accepted, sometimes it's not. But I would never assume they should expect it! If I have it, I give. Hell, I've given to complete strangers on this forum. You know, perhaps you're confusing friends with people you just hang out with. Maybe that's why it seems weird to you.

Anyways... can we get back on topic?
