It turns out that the reality is even more different.

If you see the block chain explorer, the number of blocks generated per day is still much lower (at least in the last few weeks ...)

I'll give you some examples (always 24-hour intervals):

block between 1519513 and 1517920 ......... 1593 blocks
block between 1514815 and 1513484 ......... 1331 blocks
block between 1504933 and 1503818 ......... 1115 blocks
block between 1503050 and 1502389 ......... 661 blocks

But where I want to get is that even ,, always halving every 3 years, we have at least 17 years to mine.

If in 17 years, the CSC are not worth at least $ 100USD / each, and we can not live from the transaction fees, then we are damned .... LOL

Yes I was off from the first estimate of 15 million but you know where I am coming from and in the latter stages of the halving mining becoming basically worthless if CSC stays at one dollar so the fact of the matter is if we want CSC to be worth 100USD one day then we need to take action now. Id like for Andre to explain it some more but I imagine he is busy.
As said before, long term block time has been around 48 seconds on average. Would be nice if it was a bit closer to 30 seconds but not a mayor issue. What is (and has been) the biggest problem for CSC? Coin hoppers and autosell. One would expect that at current market prices the mining of CSC would reduce substantially as it is no longer profitable to mine CSC. However even at these low prices there is still some 1-2 Ghash of mining power directed at CSC. Most of those coins are sold on autosell and thus about 15.000 - 20.000 coins are dropped at the market every day. If we want to reduce that the only way is cutting the block reward. Doing so would protect current coin holders value in my opinion. All kind of halving schemes are worthless in my opinion and best thing to do is reduce it to a final 1 CSC level asap .... i still have not heard any mayor issues against that aside from cartmans comments about network hashing speed and i think that will be solved automatically IF the coin takes off in the future, .... if not we have no issue anyway Wink
1102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]♠CasinoCoin v2.1 ♥ 2.8 Yrs Old ♦ NEW SandCoins - Two Brands One Chain♣ on: June 02, 2016, 10:15:18 AM
Since people are entertaining a fork.....

You could also consider raising the block target time from 30 seconds to 1 minute.

1 minute is more than adequate and would cut the total coins produced per day in half without decreasing the block reward. A gradual block reduction could be done rather than the proposed reducing to 1 CSC immediately (https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/issues/18). That would keep some of the hashrate on the coin but I can see the appeal of coding to 1 CSC instead of messing with block halfing.

If CSC was immediately cut to 1 CSC I fear miners will bail. I haven't been keeping up with the latest developments in blockchains but last I looked POSv was nice. If done right it would eliminate the need for miners completely while still allowing the blockchain to continue. I also like AuxPOW though.

So I possibly think....AuxPOW with a 1 minute blocktime and 1 CSC reward.

Anyway, just some thoughts since that box Pandora owns was opened.  Cool
I really appreciate your comments! But i think we need to keep the blockchain clean and independent of whatever is out there. I certainly do not like PoS as it dilutes the coin, i do see its benefit as well but hesitate to implement it. Do you really think its an issue if miners bail out? I think that the ones that bail out are the auto-sell dudes. Those that mine CSC to get more coins and keep them will benefit. If you make a living of a percentage of the total coins mined at your pool you get less, ... yes that is true. I run the MegaMineros pool with a continuous loss for two years now, that will get worse unless we increase the mining fees. So Yeah i know that cutting the reward is not good for pool operators but please consider that our goal is not the current price level. Casinos are on the verge to step in so i would prefer to make the changes before that rather than having to do a fork after they start using it. If things work out over the next 1 to 2 year then the price will rice and profits will return, also to pool operators. If not, hey then we are screwed anyway Wink

I was already typing a response to a previous post of yours when i read your new one:

Quote
First, as is commonly known a blockchain is secured with a disparate amount of hashrate. If it is too low it can be forked to allow double spends. Basic concept in crypto. I won't bother to explain or defend further. A coin absolutely needs a high hash rate to stay secure.
Yes you are right but it is all relative, if somebody out there with a lot of Scrypt hashing power decides to redirect 500 Ghash from LTC to CSC he could take over the network. The only thing to prevent that is to add an equal amount to balance that. If miners leave and we drop from 2 Ghash to 200 Mhash but with still a good amount of nodes i do not see the issue as the total amount of scrypt power available on the market these days is sooooo much higher than both.
Quote
I also won't bother debating or educating further...people can do their own research....hehe I must be getting a bit grumpy these days..already exerted too much effort in typing up this post.
Your input and comments are always appreciated. I just took over most of the development as there was nobody left to do it, but i am still learning and progressing on blockchain technology. I am not saying i am totally against AuxPOW and will look at its implementation and discuss it with GoldSeal and other interested parties .... i am just cautious and do not want to risk any mayor issues on the verge of the CSC breakthrough ......
1103  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]♠CasinoCoin v2.1 ♥ 2.8 Yrs Old ♦ NEW SandCoins - Two Brands One Chain♣ on: June 02, 2016, 07:57:08 AM
Do you think POS incentivizes hoarding? I am inclined to believe so...

What do people think about AuxPOW? Seems to be a good choice to me.

It 100% does, the rich get richer in a POS scenario.

Did AuxPOW benefit Doge significantly I never really followed it ?

As for the reward cut, we're thinking of reducing it to 1 coin per block from 10. Back when we cut from 50 to 10, we wanted to go deeper, but we decided to reduce 80% since altcoins at the time were in danger of losing all their miners. At this point, we can probably go to 1 and we'll achieve some significant protection for coin holders by reducing this relentless autosell behavior while still maintaining some decent hash power. It should also send alot of coin hoppers packing in the near term.

The Casinocoin network is stronger than ever and i'm sure a lot of people will stay mining as they see the true value.
So I agree it should be reduced to 1 from 10, but what do you think about the re-target time changing to one minute?
and any different input on AuxPOW / merged mining or is your stance the same as before ?

I asked Ajochems on skype about it. I was trying to see what he thinks about it. For me, I think it would cut the number of new coins to less than 1440/day, which is interesting. However, one of the main strengths of CSC is the ability to enable payments impulse gambling. Doubling that target would take the confirmation period (6 confirms) from an average of 6 - 8 minutes to about 12 - 16 minutes. Maybe pushing that target out might make sense once the casinos come online and tell us whether it's ok to push it out.

Yeah i agree, i see no added value for increasing the block time. On all other things mentioned a small summary:

- I see no use in halving CSC block reward in the way bitcoin does it. Our market is still pretty small and reducing the reward to 1 CSC gets it over with. Will stay like that for about the next 30 years when it drops to 0.
- Please no other algorithms, .... what for? I said it before and will do so again. For network stability we better have 20 miners with 10 MHash each (200 MHash) than 5 miners with 200 MHash each (1000 MHash). The difficulty will be lower but network stability will be better. If we just make sure there are like minimum 5-10 geographically dispersed miners with 1Mhash each we are ok. We do not need high hashing rates, we need more nodes. The diff takes care of that.
- If we want to prevent the block chain to come to a full stop we could better build in something that allows the seeds to solve a block in case it get stuck for say more than an hour, .... coins being mined like that could go into a Casinocoin foundation, .... not sure how to implement something like that but could be a consideration.
- We want the csc blockchain clean and independent of others, thats how casinos would like it to be so in my opinion no merged mining.
- I am also working on porting the Insight API over to CSC. That would allow exchanges, merchants or casinos to check an addresses balance so the 6 confirmations would not be necessary any more in my opinion, 1 or 2 would be sufficient as the existence of the coins could be verified.

Could you all find yourselves in my comments and opinions?
1104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]♠CasinoCoin v2.1 ♥ 2.8 Yrs Old ♦ NEW SandCoins - Two Brands One Chain♣ on: May 31, 2016, 09:24:36 AM
Yeah, news has been slow, that does not mean nothing is happening. I continue development on various items as much as i can. However the general opinion has become kind of negative in here so i decided to reduce my postings here. In general i always respond to personal questions via PM or on casinocoin.slack.com. If anybody needs help with development of any kind of CSC related material you can always contact me as well.

Whenever there is something to announce GoldSeal or myself will do so. We can not speak on behalf of Prypto and all its related projects but they are moving forward as well. You guys should read up a bit on the latest news about gambling and crypto on the Internet and you'll be suprised .....

If you lost faith in CSC there are various people that want your coins, and you can always contact GC and ask if he makes you a good offer for large quantities. Otherwise contact GoldSeal or myself, i saw Gravitate making a good offer. Or maybe you better invest in SoonCoin or NineElevenTruthCoin, .... maybe they have a more bright future than CSC  Grin

That being said, ... to all others that continue to believe in CSC, just hang in there, try to find ways to help yourself. There is so much that can be done and all CSC owners will benefit from that. News can be created by everybody and does not need to come from only us! Make correlations with market news and inform the public out there that CSC exists via forums and social media!! That will really help! Long term is still looking good but you all know there are zero guarantees but a billion possibilities.
1105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CSC]♠CasinoCoin v2.1 ♥ 2.8 Yrs Old ♦ NEW SandCoins - Two Brands One Chain♣ on: May 20, 2016, 11:16:20 AM
Point number 1:

thank you for your work so far.

Point number 2:

Wise words that thou hast shewed, especially the words that I put in bold.
Only it was worth it, you do not you use those words in November and December last year when I (and many more ...) bought CSC, at 8,000 and 10,000 satoshi ( NOT AT 100 or 200 SATOSHI !!! ... )
It would have been more useful to me (and many others, I suppose ...)

Point number 3:

also by the way, why not also alerts the miners and the pools, to the fact that they are mining for this time, less than half the advertised?

I will follow your advice, and dump.
I should not react to this but it is soooo hard not too. I should not have to tell you that trading any crypto currency is a very risky and volatile business. Also:
- We never promised any price or value for CSC
- We never tell you to buy or sell at certain price levels
- We never tell you to risk or invest your hard earned money into CSC
- We never guarantee you any profit
- Aside from a happy few nobody else invests time and work into developing this coin

That being said:
- I bought CSC on 100, 600, 1500, 5000, 10000 and now again on 1500 sat and will continue to do so
- I mined CSC for the last 24 months or so as well and will continue to do so
- I invested a lot of development hours in CSC and will continue to do so
- I strongly believe there is no other altcoin besides CSC with an actual purpose  and will continue to do so
- Most miners are the actual cause of the recent price decline and if they mine CSC without making a profit its quite stupid
- I very much welcomed Prypto as a big investor into CSC and hope they can bring it to the masses but have NO guarantee they actually will. I do feel very confident about it though.
- Yes i invested a few thousand dollars into CSC and i am aware that may be worthless someday

Final thought, i might turn a 5.000 dollar investment into 5.000.000 dollar someday, for me that is worth the risk, if you did not see that risk i am sorry to say but then you are being very ignorant. If i lose my 5.000 dollar investment its been a nice ride and thats all i have to say about that!

Yes, the mobile wallet will be even more fantastic for me.

Andre is already dealing with the matter for some time, but it seems that things were not running optimally, and would still take a few more weeks.

You can see below, the information given by him a month ago ....

Yes i am still on it, although other developments took my attention lately. Instead of building our own WalletServer, which is already finished for the larger part, ... i am now also looking at porting the Insight API over to CSC, see https://github.com/bitpay/insight-api/. If i can succeed on that we no longer need the WalletServer as the underlying Bitcore Node from the Insight API also contains a very good Wallet Service API on top of it. No postings on this forum does not mean there is no progress! Also all those discussions about CSC price levels are irrelevant at this point in time in my opinion .... if you can not wait then dump your coins, .... else buy more at these low levels and/or stash them away and look again in 1 or 2 years. This is a long term investment and we as developers/main contributors have no influence on what or when Prypto and its associates do their thing.

For all those complaining and not contributing (i believe GoldSeal did not receive even 1 entry for the bounty of 50K CSC he set out ) i created a BTC -> CSC swap service in just about 40 hours of work to show how easy it is to contribute to the CSC universe, see https://www.cscoinswap.com. Its not finished as the refund option is not working yet but otherwise its fully functional. I also added the Coin information from the public CSC api to it.

For all the impatient out there:
- Mobile Wallet release is taking longer than expected, single user tests went fine but when doing some multi-user load tests on the Wallet Server extension i ran into some issues with transaction broadcasting resulting in coin loss because transactions got processed in the wallet but not sent out to the network. I will not release any instable software so thats going to take some more time to pinpoint the errors. I at least need 4-6 weeks more on this.
- I also have been working on some other things lately that pushed back mobile wallet development a bit, among them are:
  • Making the Coinname variable in the source code so code pull requests can easily applied to both Casinocoin and Sandcoins
  • Moving the development environment to Qt 5.6 and upgrading Boost to version 1.60
  • Documenting the development environment on GitHub Wiki
  • I am also creating a Shapshift like set of API's to allow easy BTC->CSC and CSC->BTC transactions from Web and Mobile. I hope to release a Beta Web interface on that API within the next two weeks
BTW, .... remember that GoldSeal put up a bounty with a total of 50.000 coins for anybody that will make a big contribution to CSC this month. It would be very disappointing if nobody even tries to get a part of that bounty. But if that is the case i guess you all have your answer on why this forum gets quiet sometimes, ..... we miss community effort on this coin, ... not offending those few that do put their valuable time into work on this coin ......

Everything was/is syncing properly. Old wallet was working fine as well. The only issue is the graphics do not appear.
Hi.
This all sounds to be more like QtQuick issue rather than anything permission-related. Good news is that i have just tried running Wallet installed via installer and it does not show Qml controls as well! (my machine is a virtual machine with win7) Bad news so far is that i dunno how to resolve the issue but stay tuned Wink
Ok seems we found the problem. Older machines or OS could cause the issue. We now use Qt Quick for all those nice GUI features but that causes the wallet to only work properly on OpenGL versions of 2.0 and above. See if you can upgrade your graphics driver as that solved the issue for others. You can use OpenGL Viewer to check your version http://download.cnet.com/OpenGL-Extensions-Viewer/3000-18487_4-34442.html

Did this issue ever get resolved? I just tried using CasinoCoin 2.0.1.0 (finally) in a brand new Windows 10 VM and it is missing the graphics. Sad

Have you checked your OpenGL version? As you are running your windows inside a VM you might be running into the same graphics driver issue .....

When the WalletServer and Mobile Clients are done (still planned for Q1) i will create a new lightweight desktop wallet that does not need to run its own blockchain based on the same WalletServer. I will make sure that client will run on all desktops including windows 10 and OSX. You will probabbly also able to import your current desktop wallets into the new mobile clients as the server uses the same wallet architecture.

Not good if you can't run the latest version of CSC inside a clean VM.... I am inclined to fork CSC and update it with the latest code from LTC...if only I had the time. If the direction of CSC continues like it is (requiring specific graphic drivers, etc) then maybe I will find the time.

For those who do not want/like installers here is a version of the latest CSC client (2.0.1.0) without the installer:
https://mega.nz/#!3tZXHDoC!S4ZASxCIlPfbx9KvgmlCRCk-TG2Hn3jqOG0jAVzL8fw

Version 1.3.0.0 without graphic driver issues:
https://mega.nz/#!K5xXWIYI!0mSiGSjMwF9vPsz1ZwMRpGgds6CpT-_ivq_nxP2-8k4
I will shortly release a new 2.1.0.0 version of the wallet. I upgraded to Qt 5.6 and also moved to Boost 1.60 due to speed and compiler issues with older versions. Windows XP will be desupported from this version onwards as its also no longer supported by Microsoft and Boost. The good news is that i also got it running with a software opengl renderer for older or not supported graphics hardware including Virtual Machines. The rendering is a bit slower but i have the wallet now fully functional in a Windows 10 VM.

I also created a wiki page describing the complete process of building the wallet on Windows, a Linux version will also follow:
https://github.com/casinocoin/casinocoin/wiki/Setup-CSC-Windows-Development-Environment

The last information about the amount CSC Cryptsy has. Let's see, will they move these coins... But I think they may have more...

Do you have the addresses Crypsy owns? Would be interesting to see how much they have.

The problem is they change all the time. you could try depositing a coin and following the transaction to see where it lands. Maybe with a bit of luck you'll see it hit a cold wallet that has a large balance.

My most recent withdrawal came from this address:

http://csc.blockexp.info/address/CUYPXyBUD4fdDT4amZkbVNyi3sJXNkrYJa

Looks like they are still sitting there, lol.  In the grand scheme of things, that QTY won't be THAT big of a dump (assuming that is their only wallet).
It is not the only one, we know of 1 person with 1mln coins in cryptsy so we really hope those get out there one day and get returned to their rightful owner.

Messaged Cryptopia about adding CSC again. Wink

CasinoCoin is already on their vote list. Only way to vote is to buy DotCoin (current price 13 sat). I bought some and did get CSC to the Top of the voting list. If it stays there, then in 4 days CasinoCoin will be listed! Everyone who are willing to spend small amount btc for CSC to be added Cryptopia, please do buy and vote.

https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Exchange/?market=DOT_BTC
What happened to the vote list? CSC was on top and i also had put up some DOT to vote for CSC but now the list only shows Litebar(LTB) while voting was still possible for 3 more days ......

Hey so... What are the plans for another exchange? Allcurex is no good becasue the coin wont go anywhere. They say in the world of crypto that if your coin is only on 1 crap exchange then its failed...I am making a Europe based exchange where you can buy cryptos for fiat... The exchange will be finished soon. I can add casinocoin if you guys want.. I can set the price on there also as there only will be a few sellers on there to start with. The exchange will sell BTC, ETH primarily but if anyone wants can do CSC. But will be approx 200 usd worth of dev to add the coin. So if interest I can take donations towards it?

I would do it for free to support csc but if people pay then at least I know its a good idea.

I have working software for an exchange. However, we were going to launch in Japan. However, there has been a bit of a shift in regulation here. So, we're actively looking for a different country to host. I'll have more details shortly.
GS I would help hosting it in the EU as less regulations at the moment. So long as csc goes up.. lol
As Marec indicates i think this would qualify for the 50K total bounty set by GoldSeal. So get it up and running before the end of april and you could possibly get the 25K first price, ... thats about 1.5 BTC at current  market price but will be a lot more in the future! contact GoldSeal with a PM to get the details about the exchange software. I think that the casinocoin.exchange site will be targeted at casinos and merchants at first and will be opened up to the public only when general market coin value reaches $1 or more.

BTW, how can i open CasinoCoin Wallet and SandCoins wallet at same time??

you need to configure one to use a different port.

In sandcoins.conf file?

yep exactly.

Ok.

I put "listen=0" in sandcoins.conf and works to me. Now, i can open both wallets, at same time.
Thanks.

try rpcport=<pick a random high number like 46234>
In general RPC port is not needed for desktop wallet unless you want to send RPC commands to the wallet. listen=0 is sufficient to run both wallets simultaniously as then your SandCoins wallet will only connect to other peers but not broadcast its own ip to the network. You can also specify port=<port> to make the SandCoins wallet listen to an other port instead of the default 47950 port where both SandCoins and CasinoCoins will listen on.

Oh snap that sounds interesting lol, any hint as to how?

It should be obvious. I'm going to cut the block reward on those jackasses later this year. I'd like to make it drop incrementally until we get to 1 csc per block. It's the only way we can get rid of those jokers mining csc just to autosell for btc.
This would have to be a consensus decision, but I understand where you're coming from

Have never been a fan of "changing the rules of the game". It has happened once already for CSC and was not happy about it then. I feel any crypto that "changes the rules" looses credibility. Imagine if BTC decided to change the reward structure or coin supply? Let's be honest...what is being proposed is simply just a means of currency manipulation.

Other stuff like diff adjustments, algo, AuxPOW, POS, etc. are bearable but to a lot of people are still bad form.

Oh well, just stating my peace....and trying to provide some level of guidance.   Roll Eyes

Do as you wish  Tongue

....and will it really be a consensus decision? Who will vote? The miners you are trying to penalize? No, I imagine if this change is done people will try to force everyone to "upgrade" to the new version regardless of how the miners vote with their hash. All you have to do is convince enough key people to "upgrade" and to hell with consensus.  Lips sealed

Discussion is Good!

In my opinion we need to do whats good for the coin, its holders and especially its potential users. Please consider the following:
  • We generate about 7 mln coins a year, at current block reward that means we reach maximum coinsupply in about 5 years from now
  • How important are miners to the network? I think hashing power in itself is of non-importance, the node count in the network is. So to keep solving blocks it is better to have 100 miners of 1MHash/sec geographically dispersed instead of 5 miners of 1GHash/sec. The diff will simply be lower but the network will be more resistant to nodes that go broke or hostile takeovers of the blockchain
  • What will happen when the max coin supply is reached? As CSC has a low blocktime of about 30-40 seconds there will be a change that there are blocks without any transactions. Offcourse i hope we will be a big success and this will not happen but still, the amount of transactions per block will be lower than BTC. Aside from being an advantage for the transaction speed it renders it less interesting to miners as they will be paid by then through fees only.
  • Users only care about transaction speed and the coin value

Considering this i think we are left with three options:
  • We lower the block reward to extend the time it takes to reach the max coin supply.
  • We create an alternative way besides current scrypt pow mining to process transactions in the blockchain.
  • We allow AuxPOW aka Merged Mining

I personally would opt for the second option, especially if it removes the need for special mining hardware. Still you need some sort of reward which has to be paid by somebody. I think we agree we do not want to touch the coinsupply, ... so POS is not an option as that will dilute the coin. I believe some transaction relaying based POW algorithm would be the best option where clients are rewarded based on the amount of transactions they relay/confirm on the network. Anybody running a wallet or daemon could participate on that and get part of a block reward. I am not sure if something like that already exists and still the reward has to come from somewhere when the max coinsupply is reached ...... maybe a CSC Foundation donation based wallet that pays for that?

There appears to be constant sell pressure on Alcurex. I would imagine this is coming from a pool that is auto converting to BTC. Sad
Indeed, i wonder why somebody would mine CSC at this moment and turn on autosell. There are a lot of coins out there which are far more profitable to mine at this moment. If you mine CSC at these prices its to keep them but selling them at these levels is plain stupid. That being said, ... i don't care, i am still buying about 1-2 BTC every month so for me the price may drop even more  Cool

Introducing Sandcoins: An Alternatively Branded Casinocoin Wallet
The Casinocoin Foundation is proud to announce the release of an alternatively branded Casinocoin wallet named: "Caribbean Sandcoins".

Sounds like a plan, for the wrong blockchain? or is it just me that thinks this coins should totally not be used for anything else but the gambling industry?

We were just presented with a new possibility to have CSC used in a real life application. Using the same coinsupply for multiple purposes will only increase the value of the coin as it potentially increases the demand for it. It might also help introducing CSC to other exchanges that have issues with the 'other' brandname. I do not see a problem here, ... only new possibilities Wink and current coin holders are not losing any of their coin value because of this, it can only increase.

it finally opened but I think I am missing the button and menu images.

First time in CasinoCoin history - market cap over 2M

Acutally that is wrong, we are currently much higher, coinsupply and last price is not correct. We are already at $4,000,000 market capital. This is from our own api at http://api.casinocoin.org/CSCPublicAPI/CoinInfo:

Where is your USD price coming from?  That seems to be the variable and yours seems high.

If BTC was $400 and CSC was 0.00015 BTC then USD would be $0.06
It takes the highest last price from all active exchanges: http://api.casinocoin.org/CSCPublicAPI/ActiveExchanges. Then it takes the last BTC price from https://www.bitstamp.net/api/ticker/ and finally it takes the exchange rates from the European Central Bank at http://api.fixer.io/latest?base=USD. You could argue to take the last price from the last transaction instead of the highest last price but not all exchanges support that in their api.

I noticed that the USD / BTC values of the wallet and the blockchain, are still depending on cryptsy values.

Is there any way to fix this, to show the Exchange values with more volume for example Huh To keep this currency as honest and real as possible ... Smiley
Fixed, i disabled cryptsy in the api, wallet should reflect changes ...
