We'll keep bumping this date to remind NEMsters the date.

REDEEM YOUR AE BEFORE NOVEMBER 22, 2014

CHEERS GUYS

bump

Timezone please Smiley. You know the most volatility will be in the final hours Wink. Some of us will hang in for that, so a solid time, 12:00 UTC or whatever would be welcome.

1. You are right, i would to know this too..
2. How many stakes i can buy max at the asset exchange? (i have already redeemed my stake)
3. The NEM swarm team need a help? If needed i can join Wink

To answer #2, you can buy as many as you want. There is no limit. Just be sure to redeem them before the deadline and you are fine.

Any and all dates we post are GMT. Usually I don't sit infront of scripts and wait to exactly the last second to turn it off so deadlines can be pushed back by a few hours or even a day if it's something like turning of the portal or whatever. However to make sure your redemption is valid don't count on that.

I get a 404 error  Embarrassed

I need some help. I posted this on the nemcoin forum, but it seems it is not available at the moment. I have a 0.1 stake on Nxt AE. I want to redeem it. Thus, I downloaded the Mac client from bob.nem.ninja. I installed JRE 1.8 version. But, neither the webclient nor the desktop client is starting. Do someone else has the same problem? Is there a other way to redeem the stake?

Thanks in advance!

404 ?

Works fine but people did report some issues with ssl.
Here's the post:

Some people have had a hard time getting NEM going on a Mac, but I can confirm it is possible and this is how I did it.

It is actually pretty easy once you know how to do it, but like anything if you don't know, it is really hard.  hahaha

Step 1: You will need the developers kit of Java.  Go here and download the version for Mac.
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html
(this may or may not be necessary, if you can get NEM to work with the regular java 8, please let me know in a comment)

Step 2: Download the stand alone version of NEM from here http://bob.nem.ninja (get the latest version)

Step 3: unpack the file to the desktop and if done correctly, you should see a folder called “package” on the desktop

Step 4: open terminal and type: cd Desktop/
Step 5: next in terminal type: cd package
Step 6: next in terminal type:  chmod +x nix.runNis.sh && chmod +x nix.runNcc.sh
Step 7: next in terminal type:  ./nix.runNis.sh
If things go correctly, you will see terminal start to get really active.

Step 8: Open up a different and new terminal window and type:  cd Desktop/
(To open up a new terminal window two finger click on terminal and choose "new window". Do not close the old window.)
Step 9: next in terminal type: cd package
Step 10: next in terminal type: ./nix.runNcc.sh
If it works, terminal will be very active

Step 11: go to http://localhost:8989/ncc/web/index.html in Safari.
You should see the NEM screen.  You can now create a wallet.  You will have to download the whole blockchain which takes a while.  Post your address and somebody will send you coins.

One thing that I think would be really helpful is to make a different word for the movement, the software, the client, and the token.

Bitcoin suffers badly from this problem.  People think it is just money, but then they learn that it is software and even their are philosophical and political tones to Bitcoin, so it just becomes confusing.

I would think it would be nice to get some really nice and catchy words.  If I just had to think of something off my head I would call the community NEM, the network NEM Net, the client NEM App, and the token XEM.  Something like that could bring clarity.  Just an idea.  Maybe somebody else can come up with better terms.

As a newcomer to NEM, I can say that would help a lot.
I discovered NEM few days ago and I'm still pretty much confused. I guess its caused by NEM's different approach than on other altcoins..

The problem is that the info about NEM is too much spread out, and many of the descriptions are outdated.

Yes, that's another thing. I know decentralization is a good thing, but hey.. :]

That will change once the website is overhauled. Our website should and will be the single source for all NEM related information and ressources.

There have been a lot of people wondering about how to set up NEM on a mac.  I can confirm that it does indeed work.  I have written step by step detailed instructions about how I did it.
...

Thanks jabo for writing this up !

Are you positive that it only works with jdk and not with jre ?

nope Sad
The nxt address isn't listed at the moment.
Other addresses which have sent their stakes are missing, too.
I'm hoping that this list will be generated by hand and will bei updated tomorrow Smiley

Guess I'm wrong then, but I hope patmast3r doesn't have to do it manually... He is probably the best person to clarify this.

It happens automatically.
Without a tx id or anything to go on it's kinda impossible to help you.

/edit: I think i forgot to start NXT after the last reboot...that's prob why it's not being updated.

the /registered page should now be up-to-date again, with all the latest incoming NEMStake assets.
Shoutout to JuiceSSH (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonelli.juicessh) for helping me fix this over my phone Smiley

Thanks Jabo38... yes I started that thread!!!  Seems no-one here or there can actually get the client running and synchronised on Mac OSX.  Plenty of people who are on PCs trying to help me but no-one has actually told me they've managed themselves on Mac OSX, only on Windows or Linux distros.  I'm not Linux-competent unfortunately - i also don't have the know-how to do a dual boot into Windows without original disks, I have spent some time trying but was defeated, similarly tried with Virtual Machines but no joy- I'm just a bit of a disaster when it comes to hacking things & relatively new to Mac too, my old PC is fully dead though so no chance to use that.

Anyone managed to get things up & running on Mac OS?  Please let me know your tips!

Simply try the standalone version. All that's making problem on MAC is webstart.
Download http://bob.nem.ninja/nis-ncc-0.4.30.tgz . Should work like a charm even on OS X Smiley

This is a good idea for everyone that is having problems with stuff not starting or similar problems.

the poi competition?

yup, same thing with https://forum.nemcoin.com.  I'm using google chrome.  Maybe I'll pop open internet exploder and give it a shot.

I get that too but firefox let's me get around it.

For this and need a version and a persistent network connection with all clients. The old client will not be able to connect to new clients, and if we disable version checking and network, you will create a new network and a new blockchcain. All clients are interconnected with each other and are on the same network wave. When You make a transaction it instantly got all clients. (it's like FM radio wave, You won't be able to log in to the live broadcast or substitute audio data) and in the Node You will not be able to create a fake block. We also tomorrow I will try to answer more about networking and connecting with clients, many people think the bigger the network, the slower it will be, but it's not. Enough to be connected to the main peers to other peers clients (maximum 2 to 50 connections at a time )

Are you saying there are some peers that are more important than other peers ?

Any peers can be important if we will make it in the default client settings

Can't say I follow. Well...

Hi,

Looks like I missed phase 1.

Tried to register my token in phase 2 using the guide and got this error...

"That token has not been registered in time. You will need to claim after launch"

Anyone know what I should do? I'll be honest, I've not really been following this very closely.

Any help greatly appreciated.  Grin

Send a message to Pat. You have another chance to register later and claim most of your coins.

You need to claim after launch, a message to me is not necessary cuz there's nothing more to tell.
1113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Redemption ends on 22 November[Updates&Discussion] on: November 16, 2014, 09:07:28 AM
So How will we receive our NEM silver again? I lost track of that free silver for every stake holder postings.

When the NEM asset exchange is launched, everyone will get an asset redeemable for a silver coin (sounds like the old US silver certificates, so in a way this is a second, silver-backed digital currency that is fully fungible; in essence everyone becomes a stakeholder in both currencies).

If only we could back up the whole Nem amount by Gold or Silver in some way.....even a 10 % backing should make it a very sought after type of money.......would we get the backing of all the Austrian Economists out there?

Oops.......thats what your saying right? As the value of the Nem currency rose....would we not have to purchase more silver to keep the backing at a specified % amount?.....

All the gold and silver would marke the minimum value of NEM. The value could rise above it but not below it. There is already a crypto that has done that I think...can't remember the name right now.

Why are people so psyched about november 22nd ?

Do you realize that this is only the current deadline for redemption. We don't launch on that day !
1115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is here/Phase 2 Redemption begins[Updates&Discussion] on: November 15, 2014, 08:57:39 AM
Guys at the moment, looking at the AE, price of one NEM is 150 satoshis. When we start trading on exchanges, upon the launch, will we beat this price or the price will be lower?

I would like to hear opinions since I am thinking should I buy a NEMStake now, or wait the launch. Please keep in mind that there will be a lot of people who will dump their stakes upon the launch. If the price will be 150 satoshis, this will be an easy 1,5 BTC for them. This will surely drive the price down and let's face it, there are people like that, who are just looking for the easy money, moreover since they invested hardly nothing. There are many coins that were more expensive on IPO than after launch. Also I think that price drop is inevitable, BTSX dropped over 50% from the launch price before it started going up.

Another thing in mind is that there are 4B NEMs to 1B NXT. This would put a price of 1 NEM to the 600 satoshis launch price comparing to NXT, since there are 4 times more coins. Anybody remembers the price of 1 NXT when it hit the exchenges upon the launch? Is this 600 satoshis to much for NEM to beat?

Feature wise, looking at NXT at the moment there is just coin sending, better distribution and POA algorithm that is making forging fairer. All other feats are just promises.

I am not trying to spread FUD, just trying to think in advance, invest, and hear other peoples' opinions.

At every launch, consistent with both stocks and cryptos, price will drop and then take a hockey stick turnaround. This is considered a norm.

Nxt was launched at a price of 1.5 cts. before falling to a low of about 0.37 cts. Subsequently, over three weeks, it went to 7.2cts. Prices were pegged to BTC. In BTC terms, it was launched at about 0.000014 and dropped to a low of about  0.000004 BTC before rising to 0.000098 BTC.

Nxt started with something that is less of what NEM is starting at. At that time AE was also a promise. Hence on a level playing field, NEM is starting off with multisig, the first built in wallet for a crypto, PoI, the first most evenly distributed mining or harvesting. Hence NEM has two firsts.

For a price prediction go here: https://forum.nemcoin.com/index.php?topic=2459.msg9488#msg9488

This is  matter of conjecture and is by no means what it will turn out to be. It may be better or it may be worse.

The price will fall without a doubt but like rocket said...that's just how it works. Every crypto followed this pattern initially and it's in no way a statement about quality or anything - it's just how the market seems to work.
I do think that it is possible for NEM to take a little less of a hit because we have a very good distribution. People simply have less to dump compared to other launches. I'm also hoping that NEM will generate more initial interest at launch which means there could be more people to soak up those dumps quickly.

It's all speculation - we'll see it when we see it Smiley
1116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - NEW CODE! on: November 15, 2014, 08:48:32 AM
Well, if NODE realy uses N*N topology we realy have a serious problem. If there are just 1000 nodes online many users will have problems as it's not uncommon that cheap consumer routers can't handle that much connections (or even more).

I have several times repeated, we use technology node.js. Node.js allows the use of both 100 000 connection. I'm not talking about the scalability peers, then we will go further. Node.js network application

Handling those connections isn't what some people are doubting. You rely on a network that is in sync immediately at all times to provide instant tx. A huge network with connections with different latencies is a danger to that assumption. Noone is doubting that those connections can be handled. What some are doubting is that a huge network can be kept in total sync at all times.

I have no reason to make NODE look worse than it is. I still have loads of NODE so I have interest in it gaining value. I'm merele voicing reasonable concern.
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [AИN] NODE - 2n Gen. CryptoCurrency build from SCRATCH on NODE.JS - NEW CODE! on: November 14, 2014, 04:19:56 PM
Pump stopped and started dump and panic because of this.

"N*N topology does not scale at all. If that is how they are getting fast performance, then it will quickly bog down.

James"

Well, Skill could establish a new testnet for benchmark testing. New wallets, which will automated send coins to other wallets. Maybe 1000 transactions per wallet and minute. Several people can open this wallets and benchmark test begins.
This would prove how well NODE scale during heavy transaction load and bring much attention. SuperNet integration on the way to NodePay would be a nice gimmick and price surge. Although i think NodePay is better.

The issue isn't with load but with size. The bigger the network and the wider it is spread the bigger problems with latency COULD become.
1118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Thread - Beta is here/Phase 2 Redemption begins[Updates&Discussion] on: November 14, 2014, 07:58:37 AM
I've received a token in my private messages, but have not done anything since. Is it too late to claim my stake?

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but you will have to redeem after launch and there is a 25% penalty for being late. At least, I'm pretty sure that's the case anyway.

Wasn't the deadline extended?

Quote
Q3: How long do I have to redeem my Nxt AE asset and BTT stake ?

A: Deadline is set for 22nd(00:00 GMT 23rd) of November.

Deadline for (BTT stake) registration was 1st Nov.
22nd is the deadline for redemption.

So this means who hasn't registered his BTT stake yet (for whatever reason) will have a second chance on the launch date?

No, AFTER launch. The process isn't clear yet but the plan is to open redemption again for a period of 3 months after launch.
1119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SuperNET asset 12071612744977229797, trading symbol UNITY on: November 13, 2014, 07:39:58 PM

Hey James,

are we satisfied with Instantdex. As I understand it is a centralised solution.
Looks like NODE is doing it decentralized. Their new algortihm is out and working. Of course till now with small amounts of transactions.
Maybe NODE will be a good additive to supernets core, by adding instant transactions.
Maybe you already know all of it, but if not, please take a look.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=590421.0

disclaimer: of course I own some Node, but an irrelevant amount in comparision to my supernet tokens.

Wether or not NODEs instant transactions - and the entire network for that matter - will work is still questionable imho. Their network "only" facilitates instant transactions because it's fully connected i.e. every node is connected to every other node. I have a feeling that won't scale very well but only time will tell.
N*N topology does not scale at all. If that is how they are getting fast performance, then it will quickly bog down.

James

It is defiantly a dry read but if you are worried and have the patents this paper not only states that PoA is scalable but that it should produce a BETTER topology than PoW since there should not be as much mining power concentrated in to pockets due to pools.   Wink

http://eprint.iacr.org/2014/452.pdf

PoA isn't the problem. The problem is that NODE depends on the network to be in sync the entire time to make instant tx possible. The idea is that as soon as 1 node knows about a tx every other node knows about it because they are all connected directly with each other (which means you can't try double spend by sending txs to "parts" of the network). Many nodes connected like that with varying hardware and latency doesn't sound like it can work perfectly but we'll see. It's definitely interesting Smiley

Paying 18 year old Ukrainian girls 25 cents per like on VK.  Brilliant

Would you care to stop trolling ?
Since you are known to support NEM it's kinda bringing more trolls into our thread and that's really not necessary. Use another account or whatever.
