Yes!  Cyborg babies are on the way.  This is the end of days.

nah, the worst is that we got banged by reptiles since pre-biblical times:

It can't get any worser.

Wired, 2014-11-24:
Brock Pierce from The Bitcoin Foundation is bullish about the future of... something?
http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2014-11/24/bitcoin-myspace-cryptocurrency-blockchain

He sounds like a BlockStream yes man.

These people recently put out a proposed change to the Bitcoin protocol to tweak the mining incentives achieve the following:
Quote from: Sidechains white paper
In this paper, we argue that it is possible to simultaneously achieve these seemingly contradictory goals. The core observation is that
“Bitcoin” the blockchain is conceptually independent from “bitcoin” the asset

I vote for leaving bitcoin alone

Just imagine if it cost a dollar to print a dollar Roll Eyes

i think there is no contest in energy and resources cost. Under any conceivable scenario fiat is cheaper than POW (for the printers).
Moreover your case about high real TX cost implies constant price, which is unlikely after many halvenings. And dirt cheap TX cost is not the btc killer app anyway imho.

*You have lost more than 1/2 of your money if you have been holding for a year.  Way to go!

I lost just profit opportunities. I would stay in black even at 10 bucks mr. Hindsight.
But in a battle for civilization you're not counting beans all the time.

It's not just about moving money. Mostly about keeping your money.
1107  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 21, 2014, 06:51:35 PM
Fiat or no fiat, people are always the same. They always try to abuse things and have profit to the maximum. Just human nature, believing bitcoin is any different is insanity.

profit-seeking is what makes the world go around. The troubles are just about the means used. Fiat is by force = bad by definition. Until crypto is voluntary is a good starting point.

That guy is among the most knowledgeable and most sane members in here.

if he's happy with his fiat he can keep his fiat. But since fiat keeps failing since day 1, there is that little insanity-thing about keeping doing the same expecting a different result.

IMO it's no use educating Joe Public about the great wonders of Bitcoin. Joe Public is perfectly content with his credit card, bank account, PayPal, etc.

wait that Joe Public get overtaxed a bit more and then Cypro-ized and someone could go full crypto.

any chance for an electrum-type wallet?

Spexx provided estimation of the CPU performance by looking up a specific CPU in https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php; then divide "Passmark CPU Mark figure" by 1000 and multiply by 3.6, which comes to a number in hash rate. 2 kh/s is a bit strange, are they running in same conditions, no other programs hanging around?...

thx, it's an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5600+, so according the calculation it should make 5.2 Khs. But since it's my everyday puter it's always multitasking. Now it's making more like 3.3 Khs (multiplying by 2 what I get in the autominer, since it's two threads), so I guess that's fine.

weird that intel cpus are so much better than amd: I've got an intel dual core mining at 12 Khs and an amd dual core same frequency which makes barely 2 Khs. Maybe there is a trick to improve hashing on amd cpus?

Ooo-er Cheesy

Thanks to Spexx and Digithusiast,  I'm now happily mining  Smiley

edit: i wonder if keeping XMG on an exchange like Poloniex implies to lose any POS gain?

edit2: an option to mine on Mininingrigrentals.com in the miner setup would be much appreciated.

NEW SOFTWARE RELEASE

Windows 64 bit minerd

I have cast a few magic spells over my compiler and now it gives me a generic minerd.exe that is 1.3 percent faster than the previous version. You lucky people Cheesy I have updated the software available on the usual links:-

Full package:-

.rar https://www.dropbox.com/s/hiadf8o5u7bsit7/XMGpoolminerWin64.rar?dl=0

.zip https://www.dropbox.com/s/6hmlajdp0qgmcfi/XMGpoolminerWin64.zip?dl=0

self-extracting .exe (extracts to C:\XMGminer by default) https://www.dropbox.com/s/dw7yjssjrrqp0m1/XMGpoolminerWin64.exe?dl=0

I am sure to have entered all my right info in Setup.bat more than once, but Setup.bat always ends  telling me: "Access is denied" 4 times, like it lacks the permits to write other files. So when I get the prog hashing my stats in nonce-pool.com remain at zero.
Any way to fix this? Maybe entering directly my info in some other .bat?

Bitcoin is rallying similar to how gold and silver did before they again moved down to lower lows. All "private assets" will continue to make lower highs and lower lows until the turn in the ECM on 2015.75. The prior bounce in Bitcoin was to $666. It won't make it that high this time before turning down again to make lower lows and eventually bottom at or below $200. These are sucker's rallies for those who don't understand the trend in place until 2015.75.

Maybe, but check out the current premium on gold that you can hold (and silver too).
Your forecast could well be right, but trading in this environment is crazy (for who's not a cabal insider), so imho better sit tight and be right holding to quality, PM and BTC included.
