1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to avoid transaction fees on: April 06, 2014, 10:35:54 PM
How can we avoid transaction fees?  Could we have an electronic bank that lets us place transactions with the mony, but only make one transaction a month of all of them at once, then we just pay the horrible 0.0001 fee one time a month, like a credit card or something..

Never made anything online

used to use Banner Brokers on each of my web sites, and every day click on them from 100 different proxies.  back in high school
1105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soon to be college grad in need of advice- what's the deal with Bitcoin? on: April 06, 2014, 06:56:06 PM
Hi all,

A friend introduced me to Bitcoin the other day and it sparked my interest. Is this the real thing? Should I treat it as more of an investment or will it actually be useful to my everyday life? What would cause Bitcoin to lose much of its value? Can governments actually stop it/regulate it? What's the best way for me to understand the concept?

I'm a soon to be college graduate with about 15k in debt that I need to pay off (should be able to do it within a year), should I stay away from Bitcoin for now? Also, I plan on traveling around the world for a while after my debts are paid off, will Bitcoin be used for this?

Also, how secure is it if someone tried to steal my money?

Thanks!

it's a way to buy drugs over the internet.  i wouldn't buy any

1107  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Start Using mBTC as Standard Denomination? on: April 06, 2014, 05:04:41 PM
people like to and can think in big numbers, not microscopically small ones.

If we take the example of a purchase of a $3 cup of coffee with today's prices, then it would look like either:

  • BTC0.00660778 or;
  • mBTC6.60778 or;
  • uBTC6,607.78

Out of those, the microbitcoin one does look quite appealing due to the limit of two decimal places. The mobile wallet could of course help the millibitcoin situation by emphasising the significant digits and showing USD equivalent, e.g.:

mBTC6.60778
(about $3.00)

If we imagine a world where bitcoin is worth 10 times as much (more likely if bitcoin is much more widespread?) then it's more like:

  • BTC0.00066078 or;
  • mBTC0.66078 or;
  • uBTC660.78

mBTC0.66078
(about $3.00)

I'm still really liking the microbitcoin approach here. 660.78 reads fairly easily compared to 0.66078, even with user interface assistance.

So anyway, I do agree with you but I do think standardisation amongst wallet developers will come; when it does I would probably prefer microbitcoins depending on what the typical exchange rate is.

i look at those numbers and shudder at the thought of spending even 0.0006 for a "cup of cofffee"

coffee is worth only 0.0000005 BTC look it up
1108  Other / Off-topic / Re: Remember when the FBI attacked tor? on: April 06, 2014, 05:02:45 PM
How and when did they attack Tor? I don't see how they can disrupt Bitcoin anyway.
http://www.wired.com/2013/09/freedom-hosting-fbi/

Relevant article. There was too much panic whet the FBI took down Silk Road. At the time people were saying that TOR should never be considered anonymous again and .onions were shutting down one after another.

it just sucks that there is a Silk Road still up (http://silkroad6ownowfk.onion).

If they listened to the wishes of the feds, only gay porn and kava kava would be available for sale
1109  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will 1 Bitcoin will Reach 1 million usd one day? on: April 06, 2014, 04:55:24 PM
no.  not with transaction fees the way they are. nobody is gonna spend $100 to transmit $0.25 worth for a stick of gum.  something will have to change

maybe a cryptocurrency designed for smaller amounts?  or a transaction fee Bitcoin.  like for example WHY are there transaction fees in the first place.  Huh
1110  Other / Off-topic / Re: 40 Items to Barter in a Post-Collapse World on: April 06, 2014, 04:51:04 PM
there won't BE a collapse, cause of Bitcoin.  if people lose their jobs, it is our responsibility to get them back (those of us who own 10000+ BTC)'s
1111  Other / Off-topic / Re: Best place to build the Bitcoin island in the international waters on: April 06, 2014, 04:44:09 PM
My choice is Saya de Malha. Any objections?

I second that. The best location in the international waters.

Thank you. May be now it is the time to calculate the amount of funding required to build an artificial island there. I am planning for a 10 sq.km island. Any objections for that?

that size is ok however before building our own little nation what would be the source of income there? i bet fishing would be the 1st and how about the poultry? are we able to build a farm there?

bitcoin mining is a big industry i've heard     Wink
1112  Other / Off-topic / Re: What am I supposed to do? on: April 06, 2014, 03:51:58 PM
yea but the whole "hearing voices" thing drove me crazy in the beginning of 2009.  a voice kept telling me to stop working, and that I didn't need the money.  so i started taking crazy pills and forcing myself to work.

sometimes apps would stop working, and i'd click on something i didn't mean to.  and that voice kept coming back telling me not to work.

i wanted to mine BTCitcoins then too.  but the voice told me DONT DO IT.  i eventually fought it to the point where i mined a block, but it felt evil as fuck.  after i mined it it felt evil to run it any more.  i don't know why.  free money bro    Angry

a year later Hal Finney shot 2500 BTC over to me after i explained my situation.  but i can't find any of these early USB sticks ever since i moved out of my apartment.  to o much pain and trouble

Find a physical activity you enjoy, even if it seems pointless. Chopping wood, digging the garden, running, a team sport perhaps. Make yourself do it every day. It won't be easy.

Keep off the weed. Get a part-time job.

May be a girl will come along.

i run every day, fuck running.  i prefer lifting weights and walking.  and yes i do it every day.

weed fucking sucks.  i'd rather buy a gun and shoot things then go on rants about how people are so mean these days (on weed).
If you like weight lifting try competitions it's a great way to stay in shape and you can make money from the contests. Stay away from the guns they will only cause problems for you.

yeah i was kinda joking about that.  now regarding the weight lifting.  dear god i'd have to quit smoking first.  cause i used to be able to do 8 reps bench pressing 100 lbs, now it's only 2 and a half if i'm lucky.

gotta get in shape and worship the $$

Dont create any more coins.

don't worry.  i have a limited patience when it comes to developing.  i lost 3 programming jobs in the last few years because i got so annoyed at them piece of shit compilers (Eclipse and Visual Studio specially)
solution to that problem would be to create your own compiler Smiley

yeah i will go with your suggestion i think its right way Smiley

yeah lets reinvent the wheel while we're at it.

but seriously lets mine prime numbers.  mersennecoin.  get paid for processing *REAL* prime numbers.  none of that lazy ass shit PrimeCoin does  Tongue

i used to live for marijuana cause whenever i smoke it i think of this girl i wanted to marry in college who smoked too.  but off it.  it's like what the hell am i living for?
You need a Hobby to keep you busy. Get a part time job and gradually work your way up to full time. start saving some money by not buying things you don't need. Avoid the weed since it seems to be the heart of your problems.  Sooo many things to live for Smiley

my hobby was creating SatoshiCoins, so you people could buy a stake in my gold mine that's waiting in the cops office (in 5 years i'll either be worth $1 or worth $30 million worth of Bitcoin)

I don't have any money saved up, or a job, and live with my parents.  I don't have any sex drive either, so I don't even want to get a girlfriend.

I just don't know what I'm supposed to do with my life.  Probably going on disability soon for mental illness.  But honestly I don't have anything to live for.

1120  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC not going down... first time ever? on: April 06, 2014, 01:34:07 PM
now i'm never gonna be able to leave my parents house
