can someone comment on this. I sent 2 mro to an address. I started with about 51 and ended up with 44.

Ok people after my communication with crypto_zoidberg, I have taken up the responsibility to help with Branding/Marketing the project.

Stay tuned because we will need the community's opinion on such matters.

I believe this project has the potential to become a significant player in the crypto market.

Until then I advise to keep solo mining, with an average of 350-400 kilohashes I have hit four blocks since launch, so I think its a very good investment to keep at it before pools, inevitably, enter the fray.

wow
with about the same hash power, i have not found a single block since launch.

Can anyone explain me why would anyone invest in this currency instead of Darkcoin, Zerocash, Anoncoin, Fantomcoin or Quazarcoin??
Darkcoin is going to implement bytecoin's technology afaik so..

from your post history likes like you have a preference for dark coin.
please review the op and much of your questions will be easily answered.
basically different techology. not a bitcoin clone.

Yes, I know, but Monero is a Bytecoin clone. Thats my worry. Why invest in Monero when it depends on Bytecoin's devs basically.

it doesnt. has nothing to do with bytecoin devs
again you would have come to this conclusion by doing at minimal a review of op.
also review bytecoin thread.

I am new to pool mining.
i just started mining again around 9 pm tonight on mine.moeropool.org
there was a script out before that would run  as in below.
on the website is says to put x as the passowrd. but the bat file has a pass as 123. just wanted to know if I should change this to pas 123.

first bat file

start_simpleminer.bat
Code:
:while1
    simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=mine.moneropool.org:5555 --login=YOUR_PUBLIC_ADDRESS_HERE  --pass 123
goto :while1

second bat file

start_pool_mining.bat
Code:
set /p var="Number of threads: "

set /a "x = 1"
:while1
    if %x% leq %var% (
        start start_simpleminer.bat
        set /a "x = x + 1"
        goto :while1
    )

Also what about opening twice as many threads as there are cores. Thanks

If you have Hyperthreading this is the way to go. If not their is no difference

well, i do have hyper treading. i was specifically talking about being able to open 16 threads on a quadcore whereas i should be able to just only be able to open 8 threads. 2 threads for core.

just wanted to point out something
i have an old i7 bloomfield its hash rate is twice as high as my brothers who has an i7 sandybridge.
can someone comment as to why this maybe the case.
also: am able to open upto 16 threads on a quadcore i7 bloomfield. is this correct.
also I have been mining since launch and have not found a block.
thanks.
What HR ?

i7 @ 190k H/s
i7 @ 230k H/s

How much are you getting on each architecture per thread?

i do not know per thread

but on sandybridge i get 190k
on bloomfield i get 230k

with 100 percent cpu usage

on the bloofield if i mine 8 threads i get 230k
if i mine on 16 threads i get 230. no difference between 8 threads or sixteen threads on teh quadcore bloomfield

what sandybridge and at what clocks?

i7 cpu 960 @ 3.2 ghz 3.2 Ghz

vs

i7 950@3.07ghz 307 ghz

How do I add old wallet to simple wallet? Thank you ☻

If you had coin on an other wallet before, open your old wallet and send coins to an other address.

To transfer coin, type :

transfer 0 49VrFgi46HdWu9upDevUibfhnRCGrJxJr8pdu9sE9VPeAiWkiLEFPjkCWdQSng8TQJLExrxB8d8FnQG ZJJFv1NXvVV6FF4b 10

write always transfer 0, no need of putting higher numbers

49VrFgi46HdWu9upDevUibfhnRCGrJxJr8pdu9sE9VPeAiWkiLEFPjkCWdQSng8TQJLExrxB8d8FnQG ZJJFv1NXvVV6FF4b is the address I want to send coins

at the end, 10 is the quantity of monero I want to send

I am wondering about the zero. In the white paper it says it is set to min automatically.  So is zero necessary. Also how do you set payment I'd or message. As in thank you with the payments

could you include in the op how to set alias
thank you
1117  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 17, 2014, 03:06:37 PM
how do you transfer mro.

i want to send mro is this how

transfer 0 476vSXvkSEP9EjwiDDUS4Q86absLKEeYVg4piy6bpQLnUXoNwMbx1qQUjUxPg79TxUdyArDL6uukgWu LQkz4WaNFVhvAgVf 0.05

where 0 is the mixin count; what is the result if i do not put a number here. is it the minimum of 10.
0.05 is the amount to be sent.

is the above correct

Small mining guide for people using moneropool.org

Create these 2 batch files in the same map as your simpleminer.exe

start_simpleminer.bat
Code:
:while1
    simpleminer.exe --pool-addr=moneropool.org:5555 --login=YOUR_PUBLIC_ADDRESS_HERE  --pass 123
goto :while1

start_pool_mining.bat
Code:
set /p var="Number of threads: "

set /a "x = 1"
:while1
    if %x% leq %var% (
        start start_simpleminer.bat
        set /a "x = x + 1"
        goto :while1
    )

*********************************

To start mining, just double click "start_pool_mining.bat" and type in the number of threads you want to use.
If one of the threads disconnects, it will automatically try to reconnect.

is this for windows

1120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO] Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: May 15, 2014, 02:07:50 AM
how do I use the pool
it says to download a wallet and simple miner. do I have to use that one or the one i have already created and have been solo mining on.

also, do run bitmonerod locally or just open run the simpleminer.

this is my command: simpleminer --pool-addr=mon.hashharder.com:5555 --login=45zQuFfmbwC6o4aq7vVxXUbwUE31FEywxehsVmGY5C4o9ZgaPXZDnVm347ECvwT75gVPnVBAkHNKMDMiQ8Sz7NHrKsGD9J1 --pass x
also as above, I am curious how to add threads.
