1101  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Transfers between Wasabi and (for example) Coinbase still possible? on: July 04, 2023, 10:54:37 AM
How did that happen? Does Coinbase have a minimum withdrawal amount or similar? What's the withdrawal fee you had to pay for this?
"Yes, but the minimum is small to ensure you always have access to your funds. These minimums fluctuate with exchange rates, but are generally under $0.10."[1]
The fees could add up and take the amount over $1.

This does not account for the fact that there is no proof of the transaction, it should show up in the transaction history.

1102  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: July 02, 2023, 07:42:08 PM
...
That should be showing you how much this league got popular and when you are wondering why they are overpaying players more than what they are worth, it is 100% definitely not about how good those players are. They do not care about that, they all get someone, that's not the point. The point is that we wrote almost 1 page per day for this league, over half a page at the very least. This is why they spent that money, to be talked about, to be known, and to be followed. They achieved it.
Now can they sustain it?
It is one thing to get the attention of the world with high profile signings and it is another to become a top league from the current position of the Saudi pro league.

So far I will say they are doing better then the Chinese league and Japanese league did some years back and are making much better signings. If they do keep this up and also prioritize home grown talents and also better their scouting network they will be on the right track.

1103  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: July 02, 2023, 07:37:14 PM
With how competitive the Premier league has been for several years now, the achievements of Arsenal last season should not be over looked. They gave a great City side a run for their money in the season when the won the treble (arguably Pep's best season with the club) and took the league down to the last two games.

I have very high hopes for the goonerz this coming season, but I am not very impressed with their transfer business so far. They should have gotten an out and out striker to challenge Jesus and maybe another fullback to booster the squad but I am still optimistic for next season.

1104  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: July 02, 2023, 07:27:52 PM
...but I was expecting to see more respect from Manchester United for this player.
When a player is not performing at his best the team has no option but to replace him, this is not a question of respect at this point.
De Gea's decline has been a thing for several years with bouts of stellar performances sandwiched between horrendous errors which has cost the team.

The saga with updated contracts after the players has agreed to them could have been avoided but he has gotten lots of respect from the team as it is.

1105  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: July 01, 2023, 07:45:28 PM
Liverpool have signed a sponsorship deal with Nike for a Premier League record $94 million a year. Mbappe is a brand ambassador for Nike. Some analysts believe this will ease Mbappe's eventual move to Liverpool (although I doubt it will be beneficial for Mbappe). Maybe the agreements between Nike, Liverpool and Mbappe have some internal options for the benefit of the parties if this transition takes place?
I doubt this. Real Madrid has a lot of their first team players who are in a deal with Nike despite them (the club) being sponsored by addidas. Some of these names are;
Luka Modric
Camavinga
Vinicius Jr
Thibaut Courtois

And some former players like Ronaldo and Hazard. I still think Madrid are way ahead in the race if a move is to happen this season or the next.

I will be giving this a shot for the first time with this new season and see how it turns out in the end. Great sponsorship from SportsBet which means that it will attract the best of punters to join in the fun.

Also, any particular reason why the opening thread is in red?

1107  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why MicroStrategy can buy BTC but not other institutions? on: July 01, 2023, 07:13:48 PM
Because some companies view bitcoin as not a good investment, simply as that. I remember watching a interview with a CEO of a transportation company that haul passengers, are afraid of bitcoin's volatility.
This is same with some people, they do not see Bitcoin as a safe investment and opt for less volatile options. There are also companies and even governments looking to get into bitcoin and there are more now than there was 5 years ago, and there would be more now than there would be in 5 to 10 years to come.

1108  Other / Meta / Re: Self-moderated topics - nice feature or should it get banned? on: July 01, 2023, 11:39:01 AM
I do not think I have ever used the self moderation feature, but there is no call for it to be removed and you do not really need to stress yourself amplifying the opinion if you do not agree with it. The statistics of posts which are created self moderated is not much, not nearly enough to cause a forum issue even if it was being commonly abused (which it is not).

I think the request to ban self-moderated won't happen as the person who requested it is a troll who doesn't deserve the attention of such issue.
The request will be rejected on merit of the argument and not the user that made it, or so it should be.

1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9.5 million flagged bitcoins on: June 30, 2023, 07:20:33 AM
I disagree and you should not make irresponsible statements like this especially if it can increase the risk of someone's funds in an exchange or a bank account being frozen or closed.
...
Which is why I clarified that it is a centralization strategy. If I am a user who prefers privacy and I use a mixer to provide that, should you also avoid buying from me cause exchanges can flag it as tainted?

Bitcoin is decentralized, so on chain no one picks and chooses which is clean and which is not, it is something that happens on centralized exchanges, so if you are comfortable using them, then you should worry about tainted coins along with the thousand and one risks that such exchanges come with.

1110  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 07:15:59 AM
It is simply the bureaucratic way the institutions work. In order to adopt certain measures they require a prior study and they commission someone who is supposedly prestigious on the subject to do a study.
It all seems so fishy and shady that such an amount would be conducted for a "Study". Being prestigious in the field means they have released lots of articles or messages about it and it also means that they are pro Bitcoin, they do not need to be paid $50k to give their verdict on it in relation to the country's economy, 10% of that can cover the entire expedition.

1111  Other / Meta / Re: "The user whose profile you're trying to view does not exist" on: June 30, 2023, 07:10:52 AM
The most I have gotten is a session timed out message when I take too long reading a thread before making a reply on it. I cannot remember the exact error message but it is something like the "The thread you are looking for does not exist".

It would not come as a surprise that there is a similar warning for logged out accounts or when the session expires.

1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 9.5 million flagged bitcoins on: June 29, 2023, 04:56:35 PM
This news is ten years old. And it is safe to buy any bitcoins which is available for sale.
The concept of tainting coins is a centralization strategy which the government wants to use to control Bitcoin.

1113  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [List] Wallet Software Discussion on: June 29, 2023, 04:37:35 PM
Wasabi is an open-source, non-custodial, privacy focused Bitcoin wallet on Windows, Linux as well as Mac. Built with anonymous network, CoinJoin and coin management features.
Wasabi wallet is not privacy focused and of recent they have been caught out to be doxxing their users based on their judgement. This is a very wrong practice and breaks the privacy and decentralization of the wallet.
It is also not anonymous if they are linking on chain information to real life identities.

1114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 29, 2023, 03:48:14 PM
"On June 28, the North Carolina House of Representatives passed the bill which would commission a $50,000 study to examine “acquiring, securely storing, insuring, and liquidating” both gold bullion and “virtual currency [...] such as Bitcoin.”

This part of the article is very unclear. I study Bitcoin for free with so many resources most of which are free or require just a little payment.
Their interest is good but it is still very early to decide on what direction they would go as the bill is only for studying the possibilities. If it is positive they would have to pass another one to actually acquire it.

1115  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gospel Preachers: Is Bitcoin the Last Currency in the World? on: June 29, 2023, 03:40:40 PM
That is a far reach. I understand the desire to connect things happening now to supernatural machinations but Bitcoin is just a decentralized currency created by an anonymous person. There is no more mystic beyond that.

1116  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Not Another Merit Question. Please Hear Me Out on: June 28, 2023, 09:12:21 PM
The way I see it, discussing merits in general is frowned upon, it just so happens that newbies are the ones who engage in it more often (while having earned very little of it) making them look like the target.

Also it is one thing to have a desire to rank up and pursue a target in the forum and it is another thing to try to use merit discussions as bait for other members to give you some of their smerits.

1117  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino on a cruise ship? on: June 28, 2023, 09:07:35 PM
I do not have first hand experience but I can imagine they would try to make the experience as similar as possible to what their players are used to on land. If there are any changes, they would not be too obvious for everyone to see.

There expectedly will be a higher overhead cost to cover the cost of renting a spot on a cruise ship. Paying the workers to abandon all they have on their hands and their cost of accommodation would also raise the cost of operation which has to be accounted for one way or the other.

You do not do anything to see who is online or offline. It all depends on if the feature is enabled or not by the user. Yours is disabled so others are not notified when you are online on the forum and when you are offline.

I did some search and found this link. But the link is giving a feedback that the function is disabled.
Any link to user related stats has been disabled on the forum.

1119  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: June 28, 2023, 08:51:35 PM
Declan Rice deal has been agreed in principle between WestHam and Arsenal. The next couple of hours would be crucial for the deal to be finalized but it is looking like it is going to go through with Manchester City pulling out of the bid.
WestHam would have favored a bidding war between both clubs and also any of the other suitors but he is more crucial to Arsenal and would get more playing time there, so I would assume the player favors the Emirates.

If the deal gets completed. They have signed a winger/attacker and a holding midfielder both who have experience of playing in the league and do not need to adapt to the system.

1120  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: June 26, 2023, 06:50:27 PM
Tuchel shouldn't be the one to blame here as a result. It was Bayern Munich officials' fault. After that we saw Kahn and Salihamidzic both got sacked. Now Tuchel can comfortably prepare his players for new season to be competitive in the Bundesliga and Champions League both.
The sack of Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic at the end of last season shows that they recognize the coach is not to blame for the unfavorable end to the season but it was as a result of bad decisions made by the CEO and sporting director.

Now there is so much pressure of Tuchel to deliver as we anticipate the start of next season and it would be difficult to find excuses for him if the season does not go as planned. They have not had a very strong transfer window and have an ageing squad which might be exploited next season except they make some changes now.
