1102  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Does anyone has proof that ASICMINER farm still operating? on: April 03, 2014, 03:20:21 PM
Is there info from blockchain.info to know ASICMiner farm is still mining?

At 6-7w /GHs. They're mining at lost now unless their electricity is dirt cheap or free (included in facility rental)
1103  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-02] Bank of Montreal open to Bitcoin on: April 03, 2014, 03:13:48 PM
Nice they open to the idea of bitcoin.  I don't know what a bitcoin related transaction is though.  Does he mean like when I send money from my bank account to the telecommunications company that is a telecommunications related transaction?  All we're doing is sending money from our bank account to another person or company's bank account.  Stay out of our personal business please.  Keep servicing your clients and ripping them off with fees.  I choose to transact for free, instantaneously and without you sticking you noses in other people's business.
P.S. thank you for not closing Virtex's bank account.

+1 sound like a bunch of PR Bullshit to me. Members here got their account closed simply because they have sold some btc.
1104  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-04-1] Wired - Hackers Turn Security Camera DVRs Into Worst Bitcoin Miners on: April 02, 2014, 02:11:28 PM
To make only $1 by mining bitcoin ? with a possible link back to you? Wow these "hackers" are dumber than expected.

Perhaps they hack thousands of DVRs at a time, making thousands of $$$. Not worth the risk though.

Do you know those ARM chips are useless in bitcoin mining?

1105  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining help. Money Wise... on: April 02, 2014, 02:04:48 PM
Its mind boggling that ppl still look into buying mining hardware at this exchange rate.

It doesnt excuse you for being newbie because in any investment, one should be able to do a simple calculation.

Convert whatever the amount of money you want to spend on mining hardware to BTC and you will see your mining hardware wont even be able to mine the same amount of BTC.

Then whats the point?

If you're hoping that btc rate will go up , buying and holding would also net higher return.
1106  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Using parallella board 16x core to mine on: April 02, 2014, 09:57:51 AM
Scrypt pretty much just skipped FPGAs and went directly to ASICs as FPGAs give horrible Scrypt hashing performance. Though, this is exactly why Scrypt was implemented to make FPGAs and ASICs much less effective.
Not really. It was developed to make GPUs less effective, yet it failed on that front and then everything else followed too.
+1

How far this can get? Ridiculous.

The issue was first reported by Johannes Ullrich, an instructor at the SANS Technology Institute — a computer security training organization. Last Friday, he discovered malicious software infecting the Hikvision DVRs used to record video from security cameras. The malware jumps from device to device, trying to infect any other machines it can find on the network. But it also tries to earn a little scratch for its creators by mining bitcoins, a processor-intensive activity that would probably slow down any infected DVR.

1109  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: OFFICIAL- China orders closing of accounts and exchanges related to bitcoin. on: April 02, 2014, 08:44:14 AM
Link posted above.... I bought 10 BTCs at 645. I plan to sell soon. Good luck to all and hope this helps.

Read this part:

One of the people familiar with the latest directive said that the central bank does not intend to ban bitcoin trading in China, and said the move is to "enforce what was already said in the December document." That document had said bitcoin is not a currency with "real meaning" and does not have the same legal status as a currency, but that the public is free to buy and sell bitcoin online provided that they accept the risk.

BTC China and two other major bitcoin exchanges in China -- OKCoin and Huobi -- have all said they haven't gotten any official notice of a change from the central bank nor the banks that they have accounts with. A spokesman with BTC China said that the firm is trying to get clarity from the banks.

The three exchanges also said they haven't seen significant changes to their deposits yet, and that trading volumes have jumped in the last week due to bitcoin price volatility from the news

Also this news is already priced in. You're about to do the same mistake i did when btc was $80 b4 shooting past ATH of $266 and to over $1000.

Out of shelves, had to make do.

looks like they're just stacking on top of each other..... how are you securing them?

Judging by the photo, looks like white zip-ties holding them together as well as supporting the whole stack from falling over by zip-tieing them to the post...

oh... yah i saw the zip tie now.

Now i want to know what datacenter let you set up such rig?
1111  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wal-Mart Sues VISA for $5 Billion Over...(Guess What?) on: April 01, 2014, 03:02:15 AM
Just like the Vietcong outlasted the US military in Vietnam, so shall Bitcoin technology outlast the banks and all of their expensive tastes.

Bleed 'em dry!

You make no sense whatsoever. What the fck does this has anything to do with banks and their expensive taste?

1112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wal-Mart Sues VISA for $5 Billion Over...(Guess What?) on: April 01, 2014, 03:00:35 AM
Well Wal-Mart isn't it time you started accepting Bitcoin?

i think it would make walmart more money because it would cut down on processing fees. i think walmart really should consider bitcoin as a payment method in the future

For online, its easy. But brick and mortal retailers, we need something like hardware wallet to safely using btc publicly. I dont trust smartphone or ANY internet access.

With hardware wallet, you dont need to have internet access, you just sign the tx and on your way.

KNC lied about their mining expansion. I would never buy from them.
Also its a conflict of interest if you compete with your customers.

March batch - completed, all orders were shipped.
April batch - production starts on the 6th, immediately after the ASICs arrives.
Current production capacity is 30 miners a day. We build, test and ship according to queue.

Starts on the 6th? I thought you said you ship on the 6th.

This is disappointing.
1118  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} WHAT! :( Butterfly Lads won't deliver the Monarch Till March or April:( on: March 31, 2014, 04:10:41 PM
You guys miss the point

They're already mining with Monarch cards (ramping up to fill all their hosting space). Once they're happy with the income, they will start shipping out Monarch cards (new batches) to the customers...... WHILE selling chips to third parties.... Also attract more suckers thro upgrades and chips credits (even call some to offer 25% on the next purchase).

This is the best way of making money, double triple stab the customers

1119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech launches a new line of ASIC miners - Best W/GH/s ratio on: March 31, 2014, 03:57:38 PM
Are you shipping every day? if not have you shipped the second batch yet? The early April batch?

1120  Other / Meta / Re: Josh from BFL is bribing his forum members to leave negative feedback here!!! on: March 31, 2014, 10:25:42 AM
Why isnt he banned yet?

I would also remove all BFL announcement thread or any sales pitch from them.
