1101  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 09, 2013, 04:50:55 PM
hi,

here are some info and advise.

about water cooling: yes, do it.

NG,

Question:
I am not familiar with water cooling other than for gaming machines that have pre-built kits.  How would you suggest I do it for these custom boxes?

Thank You,
Lauren

1102  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ready to ship? on: March 09, 2013, 08:05:53 AM
What I'm interested now is that 28nm helveticoin asic offer

Now we know that avalon can basically follow their schedule with almost no delay, that is respectable speed. If they managed to quickly push the 28nm product out in same timeframe (4 month), BFL will have a hard time. If I understand it correct, there will be at least 3 vendor building those ASIC machines and put at least 1000 TH on network by summer/autumn

28nm helveticoin asic offer

Tell me more?
1103  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Question: Where can I find Avalon ASIC Batch #1 install guide? on: March 08, 2013, 09:59:52 PM
I would add, to use the thickest gauge 3-prong you have if a choice is given.  I have seen some really thin ones and I would rather not read about a fire due to a broken sheath.   I have some server grade ones waiting for my units.

1104  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Them BFL Cowboys on: March 08, 2013, 09:56:08 PM
Them BFL Cowboy's have time to put up ad's on Google's ad network, yet they can't ship out my SC Singles? Come on now...

Just a bad situation for everyone involved.  What bothers we is that this was supposed to ship in Oct 2012 and that June 2012 announcement sent shivers through the mining industry at the time.  There is no excuse to make that ballsy of an announcement and fall that far behind.   I hope they fully understand that.
1105  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB In Hand Avalon Asic on: March 08, 2013, 08:05:50 PM
Honestly, I want you to get what your looking for.   Its just with even the conservative calculations I have done.  $10,000 is not a realistic offer.  I would match and increase this offer right now, just to put it to fact.
1106  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon batch 1- Who got tracking? on: March 08, 2013, 07:35:20 PM
All speculation, we could come out with all kinds of far fetched ideas all day.  Bottom-line, we wait, we watch and March 10th is the Batch deadline so lets send good thoughts that he has been working hard to meet that deadline and then on to Batch #2.

LOL, hilarious.   Thank you.
1107  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Lightning miner ! 4ghs 80 usd Wow on: March 08, 2013, 06:20:09 PM
I took an $80 gamble - I will keep you guys updated....

Yeah, it's like 50-50. They either have them or they don't, right?

It is no where near 50%.    Given the technical knowledge needed, capital costs and timing with other releases, the chances are quite low.
1108  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [AVALON] - I got my ASIC Thread (Batch #1) on: March 08, 2013, 06:17:17 PM
Thank you everyone.  I have added confirmed units to the 1st post.  If you want to confirm your unit here, please post below.
1109  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BitcoinX Mining Profit Calculator on: March 08, 2013, 06:50:34 AM
Im trying to do some calculations, but I dont see how I can account for the total network hashrate here? I can crank the difficulty up, but I dont think thats telling the whole story... or is it?

Also, the profitability decline per year doesnt seem to work, or am I using it wrong?

Can anyone help me out get some accurate numbers? I just want to see if even in a worst case scenario, I can break even on BFL machine in 1 year if bitcoins stay above $20 each.

Thanks

IF U ordered from bfl and didnt doit in june 2012

ur profitability has been gang banged

and bukaked

for all intensive purposes

Basically.  I am glad I canceled when they were given the exact amount of coins back not their exchange rate.   Dodged a bullet.

And you can't forget that we don't know if the price is going higher.

BTC price going up is uncertain, but difficulty going up is certain.

It might be, but you are talking about an IN HAND unit.  We know what the difficulty is now and we can estimate reasonably accurately what it is in the next cycle.

^^^^^  This
1111  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ready to ship? on: March 08, 2013, 06:36:24 AM
it seems bfl could need a month or more if all goes well, why do they keep guessing wrong on their time table?
I wouldn't say "guessing". It's great marketing getting people to pay for something in advance where getting it first counts so much, even if it's not likely to be available for another 6 months after you claim.

Yes, we know who did that move.   Such BS.

Yifu desperately needs to offload CS duties to someone. Causing your customer base this much stress is bad mojo, or will be if/when they ever have any competition.

Yes he should but no, people are causing their own stress.  People choice how they are going to deal with things.   I have chosen to relax and see how this plays out.

I have ordered 2 with a pickup at he`s place.
Waiting for any answer...

Hope you didn't send your coins.
1114  Other / Meta / Re: [Request] Scammer tags or account locking for supposed ASIC startups? Options? on: March 08, 2013, 06:21:38 AM
PS: I appreciate and thank you on the behalf of other users for pointing those out - I've been avoiding the Custom Hardware subforum of late as I didn't have ample time to sieve through the trollings.

Yeah I understand that reasoning.   People do need to be responsible and do their own due diligence.  What I don't like about these is that they are trying to take capital from miners who would help secure the network.   Its a little different in case.

I do what I can,  I waited and read up on all these before I decided to say something.  If we all pitch in then we can keep some free market order in here Smiley

John the dog has moved a few in the scam accusation sub forum
I've moved this one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=148685.0) as the OP was asking if the company was a scam.

John - Can you please review the other two.  It is looking pretty clear that they have no proof, no history on here and they are asking for pre-order money.    Thanks much.
As per the forum rules, I unfortunately cannot remove those, not to mention that there are still no confirmed cases of actual users being scammed out of their monies.. I have added a footnote in each of the threads, and please remember that everyone is responsible for their own investments.

Yes that is the policy.   My question is why isn't there an exception when it become obvious?  It doesn't bring undue bad attention to Bitcoin when likely scams are left until someone gets scammed, at that point isn't it to late.   Would you change the policy if you could or do you think this is the best approach.

The problem is the most people believe in the scenario I support.

Too low, that is only $250 BTC @ ($40/usd).  They went for BTC100 at the time so you are only offering a $4,000 dollar premium over their cost.  I think you will find with where Bitcoins are going, you will need to offer more, like $15-20K.

The difficulty should skyrocket when the bulk of the orders ship. Also is your math off or is it me?

Well in two weeks an IN HAND A.A. will produce $4400.  In two more weeks it might do $3500.  Two weeks after that maybe $2500.  You are only offering around six weeks revenue.  Most people are going to want more then that.

And you can't forget that we don't know if the price is going higher.
1119  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Batch #1 Ships on: March 07, 2013, 11:05:34 PM
I just called DHL and they don't see anything heading my way. I'm in the US and my order was one of the first 20 of batch 1, so I'm surprised. If others' orders have shipped, why not mine.

How are you sure you were in the 1st 20?  It looks like some bulk orders in China were in the batch too.

First 20 orders, not units. I still suspect they lost my order (and my BTC?) since they've ignored my many attempts to get confirmation. I ordered in the first hour or so when their store website was swamped. I used guest checkout to get through faster, so never had a way to check the order later. Email, forum PM, and the ticket system, have all been black holes.

Got ya.  I would try emailing YiFu directly with your order details and the confirmation in the block-chain of your payment confirming to their wallet address.   Try and be nice and calm because I know you sound frustrated (I know I would be).  With these items, he should be able to confirm your order or give you an update.

Already tried, more than once, in the last month or two. That's why I'm frustrated, because if he cared at all about customers, he wouldn't be ignoring me.

I know it might not matter to you, but did your frustration come through in the email?
1120  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Are the Avalon ASICS shipped or not? on: March 07, 2013, 11:04:27 PM
Looks like units are confirming there inbound to the U.S.  I bet in the next few days we will start getting more confirmations.
