11001  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Weird T17 Fan on: February 17, 2021, 04:21:21 AM
I had this bug with some of my bitmain l3+
I booted three times in a row.

It went away. I have seen weird fan action on s9s the fans ramp up ramp down. wont go fast.

yet test on other controllers they work.

I think the three software boots 🥾 in a row clears shit from the cache.

Thank you

My intention is to raise the minimum from BTC0.0005 which was the opening bid.

I am assuming my bid above is the correct bump up from 0.0005

Adding cards are easy.

Expanding operations/ adding a farm or two are not hehe

I have room for 50 mobos and 40kwatts.
  I could  easily  add 150 3060ti's
  Or 150 5700's
  or 150 5600's
I don't have the cards. So I have zero idea what you are talking about.

No worthwhile card at even a 20% markup is available in bulk.

In a way the restrictions are likely what I need.

Being able to buy them with ease along with every else would push the diff up quicker. So The slow buying is likely helping me out.

some gpus
evga 3070
asus 3070

and some ryzen cpus

Once again I was denied

Yep they passed me this time.

I have 2 cards coming

https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=24G-P5-3987-KR.

I got a good price from minefarmbuy for this one.  And it matches the same one I got from Newegg Shuffle.

this is coming from my Newegg Shuffle win last week.

I also have the omen rigs but of the five them only one is mine.

So 115+62+62= 239mh on the way

eth is still over 11 cents but it was as high as 13 cents an mh

the diff is growing like mad.

https://etherscan.io/chart/hashrate

it has grown from 293th to 397th

Jan 1 to Feb 14

That is a killer pace.
11007  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Tuning my P104-100's. Low hash rates? on: February 16, 2021, 11:15:40 PM
Did you try kapow?

Kapow may be a better choice for you to mine.
11008  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin reach $50k by the end of 2021? on: February 16, 2021, 11:07:36 PM
So 50k USD level exceeded, but rejected very soon ...
So what next?
Look at this chart:
https://www.lookintobitcoin.com/charts/bitcoin-investor-tool/
Bitcoin broke up upper, red line only once without correction, in spring 2013,
every other cases when bitcoin has risen over red line were preceded by at least2 , and up to 4 major correction (25% or more)
I think it is most likely we will have correction now.
Any thoughts?

Op needs to lock this thread.

Start a new thread saying

Will BTC ever make it back over $50,000? Grin

This Thread needs  a locking op Grin
11009  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Buy more GPU miners, or just keep the cash, I don't know....... on: February 16, 2021, 10:45:05 PM
I have a chance to buy 8 GPUs and get them mining at a fair price.  A price even I'd pay.  Well, I'm not exactly PAYING it, it'll go on the credit card.  The good old American "buy now pay later".

Assuming prices stay above $30K for BTC all year, the GPUs will pay for themselves, even when counting for electric, but damn, all the monitoring, all the checking, all the frantic work in case the miner goes down, etc.  Is it worth the hassle, or should I just keep the cash available on the credit card in case I need it for something else?

Even if I bought them, mined for 6 months, and quit, I'm sure I could sell them for at least 2/3 of what I paid.  I just can't decide if it is worth the frickin' hassle.

Well if they are new with warranty and nvidia 3000 series cards it is a no brainer.

I can't tell you buy or not buy if i don't know the cards and the price.

but nvidia

3080 under 800 yes
3070 under 675 yes
3060ti under 500 yes

all of the above would be really good prices. if new with a warranty just buy them.
What would you recommend for AMD cards?

all the 6000 series were really expensive even with msrp  deals

but
the 5700 xt at 500 with warranty is good price  you can find them under 700 used on ebay
the 5600 xt at 400 with warranty is good price you can find them under 600 used on ebay
the 5500 xt at  300 with warranty is good price you can find them  under 400 used on ebay.

Note every price above is over priced but not stupidly so.

right now eth pays 12 cents an mh. so a 5700 pays about 6 bucks - 50 cents for power or 5.50 a day

so at 500 you pay it off in 95 days = decent if you can get it and mining stays good.

all usa prices above.

I have half a mind to sell my

13x5500 =  3900
16x5600 =  6400
15x5700 =  7500

17800 usd and call it a day

11011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Stupid mistake on: February 16, 2021, 09:30:27 PM
Is this a joke post?  How do you plug in a riser in the wrong direction?  Do you have a pic?  Are you referring to the part that goes in the 1x slot?

there are 2 ways to do it.

it had a four pin molex  and he put the molex in upside down.

or he plugged the 1x pcie in backwards.

both are possible to do.  but the card may have survived and the riser died.  or the pcie slot died on the mobo.

If the card was perfectly new and never used and no longer works it does not mean he killed the card.

Since he never tested it and knew it to work he can say it never worked and not be lying if he wants an rma.

He may have just killed off the riser and or the pcie slot and the new card came doa.

It can not be sure if it happened the way I just said.

For instance I have

13 amd 5500
16 amd 5600
15 amd 5700

44 good cards

and 2 DOA asus dual 5700 xt

So if that happened to me on 2 of 46 cards I would not be at fault
and on the other 44 I would be at fault.

Just saying maybe the op has legit wiggle room.
11012  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Nicehash calcuator is not accurate. on: February 16, 2021, 09:21:34 PM
how many gb are the cards

are they 6gb?

if they are 3 gb  they can't mine eth

if they are 6gb they can mine eth
11013  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB Futurebit Apollo Scypt Miner AND L3+ or L3++ on: February 16, 2021, 08:53:54 PM
still looking for L3+, but would like a PSU to go with.

I am working on repairing one. Hit me up in a day I will let you know if I fixed it.

It will come with an hp 1200 watt blue plug/plat psu and cables. it runs on 120 or 240

IIRC we are close by  I am in NJ.

They went way up in price (over 400 on ebay), but if it works I will give you a good price.

11016  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining residentially...are electric companies watching? on: February 16, 2021, 05:09:08 PM
I got two text messages from the electric company asking folks to reduce electricity usage in a space of 30 min. yesterday.  I'm a small miner.  10 s9s but that represents about 12K worth of KW/h.  Can they see this?
I shut them down last night just to be a good neighbor.  I wouldn't want the whole street to be shut down because some in the Entergy control room saw me using so much electricity lol.

They know the load on the transformer.

And depending on you meter they may know it is you with out having to look at it.

$1.89B was liquidated however the total open interest is something like $17B in total for all the future exchanges. I don't know if you guys ever traded on Bitmex but I remember that a few times in 2018 and 2019 the open interest peaked at $1B and that was as high as it would go and when OI was at $1B usually there was a massive crash shortly after.

Bitmex was the largest, so if you add the other small exchanges the total OI was maybe $1.25B, or $1.50B. I think OKEx was 2nd place in terms of futures volume back then. And that was pretty much it. Now you got a dozen or so exchanges and OI is nearing $20B. There is an insane amount of money in crypto now compared to just a year ago. One year ago OI was like $3.5B.

Compare Aug 2020 when BTC peaked at $12.5K, OI was $5B or so. There was a nasty crash all the way to $10K, and OI dropped by $2B or so. Now at almost $20B, if the flood gates open, how will these positions find an exit? It could get lucky.

Yeah that is why I am mostly just mining. I do not need to trade so I am not trading.
11018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Is still profitable to buy an Antminer L3+ in 2021? on: February 16, 2021, 12:18:54 PM
you have been moved to correct section.

I mine with 18 L3+ they make solid money for me.

No one know how long these prices will last.

But if the gear is working I would think it should be good to buy.

... Random rant and insults...
j

So fuck off and don't read my post.

Whine about non-existent BTC dumps (or shill altcoins) and get the JJG Slap.

This is the WO way  Grin

Yeah... I know after 12h it's easy to say, there was nothing... After rebounce and the info that there was a long squeeze it's easy to rant and insult like a 10 year aggro kid. Clap clap clap... How awesome. Maybe he can also tell me the lottery numbers from last week.

As I recall, I was largely criticizing the ascribed purported certainties to your various nonsense.  I was not making my own predictions.  I don't tend to make my own predictions much beyond 50/50 (give or take 5%), but I do like to criticize folks who seem to want to ascribe too much certainties to various proclamations that they are making.. especially when they make them ongoingly, goofily and emotionally as you seem to continue to want to do..

Let him have some fun bro.

Mean while we are touching new ATH. 50k is soooooo close.

My gut tells me that 50 will be breached and going to 60k will be really rapid.

As for taking some off the table I was able to do it I can now hodl the btc.
