11081  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How safe are crypto exchanges? on: September 30, 2017, 04:55:09 PM
Every single exchange has their own set of security guidelines that they follow so it's really hard to tell you which the safest crypto-exchange that exists. But you can be sure that these registered exchanges are too darn secure since it's millions of $ on the line here for them if they fuck it up. Also, I'm pretty sure they hired top-notch security experts to maintain the general security of their system, so everyone is in good hands until someone thought of Goxxing everybody.
11082  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin could realistically be worth $500,000 on: September 30, 2017, 04:49:10 PM
If BTC will reach 500k USD, what will be USD worth then?
I guess of countries and financial authorities will start to accept BTC as a payment tool and will recognize it as a viable currency on legislative than highly increased demand can skyrocket the price.. but 500k USD.. i doubt so.

Theoretical projections from recent charts show that it is possible to attain $500,000 even with setbacks and whatnot, but the market is so unpredictable that even the most plausible scenarios tend to get broken over time. $500,000 is a big sum per coin, and for us to hit that, we would need to amass $8.298 trillion which is no joke. It could happen if hyperinflation kicks in rapidly (highly unlikely) or everyone in the world goes crazy over bitcoin.
11083  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When should we buy and sell? on: September 30, 2017, 04:27:05 PM
Depends on how much are you willing to risk and afford to lose. I personally buy every week irregardless of the price and I plan to hold them until I profit by at least 30% no matter how long it can take. That's just my personal rule about buying and selling bitcoins as there aren't any rules about that. Also, one of the best times to buy is when everyone is uncertain about bitcoin or if the price is taking a beating. It is usually followed by a series of bullish runs which will give you profit in no time.
11084  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Core Wallet and Ethereum Wallet on: September 30, 2017, 04:19:59 PM
Yup, you are as long as you're not tempted to visit sites that can inject spyware and keyloggers in your machine while you're busy browsing and reading. Also, antivirus isn't really needed but it's better to be safe than sorry. And AFAIK there are no conflicts between ETH and Core wallet so you should be good.
11085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The time bitcoins are completely mined... on: September 30, 2017, 04:17:04 PM
1. All bitcoins are expected to be mined by 2140, and it is theorized that by then bitcoin is worth so much that transaction fees are enough incentives for miners to run their gear and process transactions around the network. Also, PoW may not be bitcoin's fate in the long run and we might switch into other environment-friendly alforithm along the way.

2. Anyone who has their wallet open will be full nodes and would be adding coins to their own address, so that will be the new mining scheme for PoS-based coins.
11086  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can you mine via a desktop browser on: September 30, 2017, 03:52:38 PM
It is via JavaScript and even the PirateBay uses the same idea to mine bitcoins off of their users' machines. I wouldn't call it browser mining since it's only the command that exists within the browser and the full action is still carried by the processor of the machine. Also, it wouldn't get to anywhere since CPU mining only uses too much power, produces more heat but produces little to no coins at all.
11087  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Browser mining? (Nimiq, etc) on: September 30, 2017, 03:43:03 PM
Yes alternatives are there but we should consider the possibility of earning enough with our browser. I mean I can't believe that why browser mining has got so much popular suddenly since last week.

The most hype got from the freebitco.in recently popping up the news on screen. You just have to push that start button after making the settings for core selection and there you can start minding right away.

I even tried doing that from the smartphone browser which gave me 5 H/s of hash rate. That's just crazy. But devices are heating up very fast so I don't think that it is worth doing it as we may crash the systems in first place. You can try freebitco anyway.

According to their whitepaper, the browser will serve as a node rather than a machine for mining. In their testnet, SHA-256 would be utilized to create test tokens, which means ASICs would be the king here. After the network is deployed and the mainnet is fully functional, they would switch to either Argos2 or ETHash to mine the actual coins, so GPU would be the most viable hardware to acquire.

It would still be a hefty investment if you want to mine it though, but utilizing your browser to be a node is a cool implementation nonetheless.
11088  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Virtual Currencies Expected to be Regulated in China on October 1st on: September 30, 2017, 03:38:37 PM
It make no sense to have all exchanges closed (or they will be soon) and then decide to regulate crypto currencies so I'm really curious to see what decision the CEOs of the exchanges will make at this point. I can find no other sites speaking about this news though (except for the one linked as source) so this may be fake news, It's better to wait until tomorrow and see.

It originally appeared here according to the article, and I can only read a few lines but I cannot connect it to the claims about China rolling out friendly regulations towards cryptocurrencies. Also, I'm wondering why do they need to order a closure for all China-based exchanges if they are only studying what their next move will be? They can suspend the operations for a week or so until they come up with a decision but they went batshit crazy to order a complete closure for exchanges.

Also, it's kinda weird that all of these 'reconsideration' news appeared after the price has recovered. Hmmm.
11089  Economy / Speculation / Re: Cryptocurrencies regulated from October 1 in China! on: September 30, 2017, 03:27:20 PM
Well there hasn't been any statements in regards to ICOs, just regular cryptocurrencies so I don't know where are you basing your thoughts about ICOs. Also, that's just two days from now so we're still not sure whether China will reconsider their decisions that fast, though they're notoriously known to change their rulings in an instant.

If this is true though then what happened in China rumors and bans were just an orchestrated FUD by the Chinese officials and investors.

Wow, are you a real pajeet? Pajeets are stupid like you, I dont know anyone that stupid to think there is September 31 like the article says.

October 1 in China is in 40 minutes, not 2 days, pajeet.

A typo error, but my argument still stands: their stance against ICOs wouldn't change, but trading cryptocurrencies would be regulated and not be banned as opposed to their initial statements. And I'm not a pajeet, not even an Indian so I don't know why you're too butthurt when someone pointed out something that doesn't exist. Next time, try to read everything carefully before trying to shill out the coins that you support. Wink

11091  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it safe to use new and upcoming coins? on: September 30, 2017, 01:56:16 PM
Yes, but only for a limited amount of time. Litecoin and dogecoin are established coins and can be used freely if you want to since they also carry value. Also, it's one way of reducing your taint if you don't want other people to trace your bitcoin activities.

I've used LTC to buy some Gridseed miners back in 2015, and also used dogecoin in buying a shirt of Josh Wise in 2014 for his NASCAR race, and a hot chili from a now-defunct website.
11092  Economy / Economics / Re: Like it or not Bitcoin is Gold 2.0 on: September 30, 2017, 01:50:40 PM
I beg to disagree. Bitcoins isn't Gold 2.0 and never will be. Just because it carries and appreciate value over time doesn't mean it's comparable to gold. It might be the greatest investment of our time but certainly will not be favored by the elites to replace gold in term of stocking their riches. It also can't be a currency of a nation since a country cannot impose QE and other scams on it in case their economy flops and is on a brink of a destruction.
11093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Charlie Lee: China Bitcoin Mining Ban Rumors are False on: September 30, 2017, 12:21:54 PM
Currently only one thing is sure : bitcoin mining brings money and jobs to China.

Yep, and I think that they (investors) are just playing mind games to the rest of the world thinking that they could outsmart everyone and cash it off of their fears.

Charlie stating that he haven't traded with the news seems like he's also guilty in part and is now trying to make bitcoin's state in China look good to somehow boost the price. I could be wrong though, but I think Charlie Lee is involved in this orchestrated FUD and is also trying hard, along with other names, to increase the price and cash out again.
11094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't you think the BTC forks are making the Bitcoin ecosystem more chaotic? on: September 30, 2017, 12:08:09 PM
Bitcoin Cash really confused me at which is the real BTC.
And the forthcoming SW2X is making a new puzzle.

BTW.
Question: Will the silver LTC gradually die after SW2X?

Well there is also Bitcoin Gold fork that's supposed to happen in the 25th of October.

Forks are supposed to bring new—if not better—features to a coin that address other previously known issues that it had in the past. While this brings confusion to the market, it also allows people to choose the coin that they need depending on how they use it. However it is being overshadowed by its market causing other implementations of the coin to flop and the other one to succeed.

At the end of the day, new implementations of the same coin only has one goal: profit.
11095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I stll don't know what to do with my Bitcoins... on: September 30, 2017, 12:02:48 PM
What country are you in? Here we can pay almost anything using our bitcoins including power and hydro bills, order food, buy e-credits—the list goes on and on. If you want to put that bitcoin to use, you can try on getting a debit card and load it with your bitcoins and I'm pretty sure you'll be able to enjoy shopping with it. Also, you can just keep it for the next few months and see if you gain any profit off of it.
11096  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Browser mining? (Nimiq, etc) on: September 30, 2017, 11:34:58 AM
Hello,

I just discovered the possibility of browser mining and Nimiq has received quite a bit of buzz. However, it isn't actually live yet. Are there currently (trustworthy) alternatives?

Are you speaking about bitcoin cloud mining. If I am right. You are moving towards the wrong way and you will loose all your money in the buying hash rate from the network pools.
I suggest you purchase the multiple graphic cards to start the mining altcoins. I hope you can make decent income with the commercial rental electricity charge too.

Have you ever tried to research about Nimiq or are you spewing nonsense to increase post count?

So far I haven't seen anything that looks promising as to what Nimiq had already laid on the table. I'm still uncertain as to how can a single entity obtain the coins by just opening the browser, but I do have a clearer picture on what the browsers work will be. SHA-256 would be the testnet mining algorithm but it's due to change since SHA-256 leads to centralize mining in the long run (bitcoin). It could be good, though Argon2 and ETHash are the primary candidates for the PoW algorithm that they're going to use so it will still require a GPU-rig setup.
11097  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: South Korea Bans ICO's/Your Opinion on: September 30, 2017, 11:18:55 AM
It's about time to have a strict regulation about ICOs. It's just another way of saying "I have the greatest idea about a certain thing but I don't have the funds to make it happen and I'll give you a portion of my profits in return", or in short, Ponzi. Other cryptocurrencies are being hurt by the negative impression a flop ICO creates causing other people to generalize that cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin is up to no good. Startups which really deliver amazing results are different from ICOs that are full of lies and visions made from thin air. Just my two cents.
11098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are the weaknesses of the crypto market? on: September 30, 2017, 10:37:36 AM
Easy to manipulate.

Since trading with cryptocurrencies isn't linked to any of the trading regulations applie to every country, one can manipulate the market at his/her own will without being intervened by anyone as long as they have the money. Due to this, other traders are having their loss while there are only a few entity on the market that benefits from the trade. This also scares off potential investors seeing that at any time of the day, their hard-earned money can crumble in minutes, which further restricts potential growth too.
11099  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Bitcoin Nosedived on: September 30, 2017, 10:25:30 AM
Because of banning or rumours about banning of Bitcoin and/or Bitcoin Exchanges in and by China. China is around 25% of the Bitcoinmarket and most of the Chinese are rumoured to panicsell for lower prices because they are afraid of the ban having an even more devastating affect on the price.

I agree. But it's scary that BitCoin depends so much on one government.

It still can thrive even with the government's strict rules and intervention. Though licensed exchanges might take a beating about this, person to person trades and exchange can still happen albeit the ban that happened. The main goal of bitcoin is to distance ourselve away from the banks and the government shoving their monetary policies unto us and start using our money freely, so even if there are bans here and there, expect that bitcoin will still continue to thrive.

As for the price though, it feels like it's an orchestrated dump by whales since there are huge sells of 300+ btc on exchanges a few weeks ago. Not much to worry about it now since the market seemed to have recovered from the fud and negative news.
11100  Economy / Speculation / Re: Btcc and ViaBtC closed. on: September 30, 2017, 10:18:01 AM
Today is the deadline for all Chinese exchanges to close and liquidate everything. I'm kinda wondering whether PBoC would loosen its grip in regards to exchanges and bitcoin in general. I see that they're concerned about the recent surge of ICOs that could potentially burn many people and their money but banning bitcoin exchanges because of this is completely far-off.

I'm expecting that after a month or two—or even earlier next year—this decision would be overruled and exchanges may be given licenses to operate again. Fortunately, the market doesn't seem to care about China rumors anymore, which is a good thing.
