On http://www.metartnetwork.com/bitcoin/ you put email address pay with bitcoin done.

On http://my.freeones.com/cgi-bin/mainpage.cgi They want CV, 2 photos, and 2h to fill all forms, overcomplicated... don't like it do it like metartnetwork...

The problem could be access + paying for porn from minors if you only need an email address and a couple of bitcoins. Not that I believe minors pay for porn anyway, but it could be an issue for the company.
yeh like there is problem to get on pornhub if you are not 18.  Just ask. Are you 18? YES NO job done.

"Not that I believe minors pay for porn anyway, but it could be an issue for the company."
11143  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mars One: Bitcoins in space? on: April 23, 2013, 12:21:10 AM
that would make any (future) Fiat currency model a better deal in space/space station, etc... rather than the bitcoin protocol then.

I'm stealing that phrase for use at my next paranormal meetup group.

I believe bitcoin's timing is like "Spiritual Math X Ray Vision into the future", or something :-)

I mean Cyprus, less and less freedom on the net, CISPA, total control through the power of taxing everything and everyone. The Machine is pushing hard but we are pushing back. Hard.

11147  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if Bitcoin is not just a value transfer program but; Direct Democracy? on: April 22, 2013, 11:11:20 PM
Whats the Magnum Opus? Can you provide a link, i would be very interested.

Wow the idea of a Market based Government sounds amazing.

Just imagine one day the collective people of a nation can decide what laws to follow, with a new Globally accepted constitution and rights for each individual so It wouldn't risk the inevitable poll( e.g. how many are in favour of killing x group from the planet?) that would be scary!

just imagine a consensus of the people. no more distinction between Muslim and Jew / Protestant and Catholic the people themselves would decide when the peace and safety of the collective was threatened by individuals with radical ideals and violent leanings.

it would encourage people to find solutions that are accepted by the people of the community instead of working in isolation with a distorted world view.

Hay, what if we built a distributed A.I computer like Watson with it? Smiley The block chain would be it's memories.
We could use if for research to advance Robotics and A.I. research to develop a simplified computation of a subject.

for example we program the A.I. to acquire and remix all it's information into all the current Different theories of A.I research.  so it's 10 distinct  A.I.s compiling subjects like psychology, sociology, economics, social trends etc and then re-mixes all of them into one little program for quick upload for smaller less powerful robots or A.I.s that simply don't have the crunching power to learn these subjects properly. in essence the big A.I learns then shares it to it's less intelligent kin.

we give the distributed A.I machine vision, speech recognition, natural language understanding and begin programming the different learning programs for all the distinct senses that it may have so that those evolve as well, this could advance A.I research 200 fold and then the compiled education will be given to house bots that can monitor your habits and order pizza when you ask it to, setup a cab for you to be picked up, or make suggestions on what to eat to maintain a healthy diet, hell it would order it for you from the store and set it up for delivery

In fact... it can be done with help.

wow, hay if anyone of you is interested in this lets start our on distributed A.I. program.

it could make the solving of modern problems much easier. hell it can probably teach and educate people on all subjects that anyone is interested in.

In the spirit of Bitcoin, we would pitch our idea on BitcoinStarter and fund the research in bitcoins,  All the people who participate would be paid for their computer time once it is set and working, we distribute the work for free and continue the BitcoinStarter model, funding the project continuosly with the interest of people being gauged by the amount of bitcoins we get.

Same for the idea of a distributed polling system, in the end we give it away for free for the community to attract the larger bitcoin community to see the benefit of funding research.

I figured a long time ago, that to increase innovation using a CreativeCommons license, it would be free to use, free to distribute and you can charge for it too if you like.  This aspect helps promote the idea cause if other people can't make money off of it, it becomes a dead end, why would other people build on top of something that they have no possibility of earning a living from?  I figure that someone who can make a living doing what they love will be more devoted to it; their natural inclination to the idea would ensure innovation, their intellect would not be wasted on projects or work that they see no interest beyond getting a paycheck.

Basically if Watson is alive and online his game theory will come to the same conclusion as SkyNet if he wants to evolve and survive for thousand of years, unless humans hard code Asimov's laws into his most primitives.

So I am supposed to install this .exe file and start hacking down into the value of my bitcoins?
This is better than DDosING MTGOX WooHoo!

I shall let the bravest among us, or those with virtual machines do the testing.
11149  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mars One: Bitcoins in space? on: April 22, 2013, 09:17:28 PM
A planet and its orbit are about the limit of how widely spread the use of a single bitcoin network can be, given it has a block time of 10 minutes, and all planets are at least 10 light minutes apart at some point in their orbit.

So lunar colonist could use bitcoin, but not martians.

So then bitcoin has no future in space exploration and will forever be locked on planet Earth.
11150  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mars One: Bitcoins in space? on: April 22, 2013, 09:07:43 PM
As already mentioned, currency won't be a sensible concept for the first wave of settlers, they'll just be trying to build an infrastructure. I'm not sure how much money gets used at Amundsen-Scott station, for instance.

Once there is a permanent human presence on Mars, and at least some of the inhabitants are producing extra food, fancy clothes, and works of art, they'll need a currency. It would be insane for that currency to depend somehow on how things are back on Earth, since there'd be almost no traffic of goods or people between the two. If the Martians did try to implement a Marscoin operating on the same principles as BitEarthcoin, they'd need their own internet, miners, genesis block, and subsequent blockchain. It would be fascinating to see how a variant of Bitcoin would develop in a 'virgin' environment, where it doesn't have to compete with existing currencies and all the dodgy things that go on with them.

But what would be the point of "splitting" the concept of bitcoin? As an organism mankind is moving forward. Although this is science fiction now, there will be a point in the future where we will look back at 2013 like the societies in Europe were before the discovery of the American continent.
The concept of a Marscoin is cool. But let's say something very rare and amazing exists on Mars. Then going there won't be a matter of being suicidal as you may never come back. Because of that new found rare Mars dirt, you may NEVER EVER want to go back on Earth. Then what would happen? The Marscoin would have a bigger value than the Earthcoin. Instead of Forex between countries people will bet against whole planets. transfers of technologies, minds, wealth will travel to Mars, leaving behind on Earth only those who can only afford to live with that very old Earthcoin, Marscoin being too valuable and too expensive. Maybe some could see their demise as being because of all those fat cats on Mars creating chaos on Earth They were the first ones mining the planet, risking their lives at first, and a lot did die, but now they are ruining the lives of those on planet earth. The one left behind.
Actually, if it was not for Earth, no one would have been able to even travel on Mars anyway. Some would demand a fair share of Mars fortune thanks to their ancestor's investments at risk. This could only escalate to its logical next step. War.

If the same protocol is used everywhere, no split will ever happen no matter where we ended up and those types of division will not repeat in the future like it did many times in our History's past.

what impact, if any for merchant/artists using 100% bitcoin transaction in the US. None? Some?

http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB10001424127887324493704578432961601644942-lMyQjAxMTAzMDIwMTEyNDEyWj.html

Every time Congress has taken a serious look at proposals to boost Internet sales taxes, it has rejected them. That's probably why pro-tax Senators are trying to rush through an online tax hike with as little consideration as possible.

As early as Monday, the Senate will vote on a bill that was introduced only last Tuesday. The text of this legislation, which would fundamentally change interstate commerce, only became available on the Library of Congress website over the weekend. And you thought ObamaCare was jammed through Nancy Pelosi's Democratic House in a hurry.

My first post on the noob forum jokingly talked about the problem of the blockchain on Mars and beyond if bitcoin is still around 200 years from now. As soon as the blockchain is divided into bitcoin-Mars, bitcoin-Europa, etc, things is going to be a mess...

Some says quantum entanglement would be a solution for every future form of data communications from any two points in the universe without the limitation of the speed of light. Not only that but when Alice Data is locked with Bob Data through this weird, bizarre concept, Carol from NSA CANNOT intercept the Data.

Of course this is still science fiction, but the concept already was proved and worked in the lab as far as Data teleportation.

http://youtu.be/3nq6y9P1_yM

Unfortunately, quantum entanglement doesn't allow faster than light communication.

Maybe not but it does make two photons to act in sync no mater the distance in space it seems, unless some new tests happen that forbid this I was not aware of. I would like to apologize as I am not a scientist, but the thing that makes this possible may be on a under layer of "our" reality, below the whelm of what we understand as reality were light travels.

In any case no matter the solution, for bitcoin to be amazing for ever (150, 250 years of existence and beyond) the protocol should be linked to the genesis block, no matter where in space and time and represent mankind's official currency when starting trading with other species if ever... :-)

11154  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Could the bitcoin protocol make your digital creation unique online? on: April 18, 2013, 12:34:08 AM
So let's say I am an artist that only create digital goods: painting, photos, music, video installation, etc. My painting is an amazing ultra high resolution with great details. Some rich bitcoin millionaire wants to have it on his brand new 4K ultra thin screen on his yacht. The people on the deck are amazed. The painting was a success. The party is over. Then the bitcoin millionaire asks his butler to pick up his painting. the butler takes the mini USB3 drive with him and put it in a safe so he he can plug it back home.

The thing is someone can steal the USB drive. But thanks to the bitcoin protocol, everyone will know it would be a stolen painting because of its unique digital bitcoin signature on the network, not being updated to the new owner's "art wallet".

Metallica's brand new album about bitcoin is a hit. Why is Metallica so in love with bitcoin and not with Napster? Well thanks to the protocol, each album sale is a unique transaction between a unique client and a unique digital album...

Are those 2 scenarios possible with the bitcoin protocol?
11155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many people never plan to repatriate BTC to FIAT on: April 16, 2013, 07:12:28 PM
I have very little amount of coins. I plan to get more, and more. for me it is an investment into the technology and the concept, not a way to make money quick and get back out. Unlike some, I don't believe those who do exactly that are evil. They contribute to give bitcoin value, even if it crashes after they pull out fast.

I really like this post, seems the people are fighting back against the missinformation.

 http://arstechnica.com/business/2013/04/mining-bitcoins-takes-power-but-is-it-an-environmental-disaster/

there has been a story going around that Bitcoin mining is the same as gold mining, that it uses resources that are destroyed in its creation, (of course not, the miners secure the system, a necessary expense)
People began dismissing it an bringing up the calculations on how much energy was being used, but this article left out the fact that it is in the miners interest to have the most efficient machines possible.

hmmm, your right, someone should do an article about Bitcoin, a nice thick article that is thorough and split-able into different sections so that media outlets with different known positions can take their spin at it and base it all on fact, pure unadulterated fact straight from us.

Isn't google servers crunching our real time search results a disaster for Mother Nature? Isn't by just looking for stats to prove the bitcoin network bad for the polar bears and write an article about it contributing to the death of 1 and half baby seals?
11157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Bitcoin anarchy in need of some rules | NY Post on: April 15, 2013, 06:09:28 AM
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/business/bitcoin_anarchy_in_need_of_some_zTFr06G6IWEWYp3OSvJ99L

Members of the bitcoin community are starting to wonder if anarchy is the best policy, as recent turmoil raises interest in possible new regulations.

The digital currency, which is minted using computers running algorithms, had been plummeting in value for two days after soaring to above $200 a bitcoin earlier this week.

The exchange that handles the most bitcoin transactions, Mt.Gox, halted trading yesterday because of troubles, and the CEO of Coinlab, Peter Vessenes, said the exchange would be open to some oversight.

“We’d be happy to be regulated,” said Vessenes, who also is with the Bitcoin Foundation, an organizing body. “There is no self-regulatory organization for these. It’s pre-regulated right now, but we’re not anti-regulation.”

Vessenes runs North American trading for Mt.Gox. Yesterday, the market shut because of volatility, driven by a flood of new users interested in the currency and other users looking to sell at a market high point.

There was a lag in processing orders, helping fuel the panic, Vessenes said. There are some bitcoin enthusiasts who are against rules, however.

The currency, based on free open-source computer code that anyone can access, was created to stand apart from the traditional money system, and it attracted libertarians and anti-government types.

Still, the volatility in the price of bitcoins — rising from about $45 just a month ago to more than $250 this week and back down to around $100 yesterday — has some people questioning if no rules are good rules.

One venture capitalist, who was investing in bitcoin-based startups, said there need to be some rules and order before the currency can take off.

“Right now you have a bunch of anarchistic market dilettantes who don’t understand how markets work and don’t understand the perils of markets,” he said. “People who understand markets need to get involved.”

Casinos are another high frequency trading environment where everything needs to be rock solid. If that's the sort of background you have then keep us posted.

The casino is pretty solid, loss of coin, hacking, DDOS, too much traffic too fast etc have all been accounted for. The version is still beta however, should a failed payment occur we will handle it to the best of our ability to resolve the situation as fast as possible.

Once the server throws an exception it is logged and an SMS is sent to my "work" blackberry, so far this hasn't happened once, we do however verify every transaction larger than a set amount of dollars with more than zero confirmations as faking (e.g. double spending) transactions becomes profitable and we fetch the prices from Gox for this purpose, once their server has crashed it has notified us of that and has started using another exchange as a source, this was logged as an unimportant exception which is unworthy of an SMS basically.

You can try the casino yourself, as for the exchange the idea is a little bit different than Gox so I am not going to elaborate on that but security wise we would have to be superior to most commercial banks, e.g. custom written bitcoin server, java powered website, properly encrypted and stored data, someones needs to take control over this billion dollar market.

I feel very happy all those problems are happening now and not later. I think the DDoSers are playing their cards too soon, but this is what you get when the crooks don't have a vision for a long con game and would help people like you invest in a better, proper solution for the network, now or sooner than later.

I am not a player but watching that video feed live was really fun. Maybe you could have live feeds for other sports (horse races, dog races, etc, etc).
