11161  Economy / Securities / Re: I need some advice on setting up a crypto investment club on: January 04, 2019, 03:52:20 PM
That looks interesting, and it is the sort of coin that I want to consider as a speculative investment. Coins with a real use and benefit other than the creation of wealth for the implementation team, are the ones to look at in my opinion.

BAT is interesting, and The Crypto Coin Tree is Brave Rewards verified. Are you using the Brave browser?

Yes, BAT is for sure one of the top projects out there, and I pointed out as one of the 3 projects I suggested in the club. I have read a lot about BAT and I bought some few time ago. BAT has a good  valuation over BTC as well.

I don´t use Brave Browser, as I find Firefox much better. Unfortunately, Firefox has a bigger developer team, with more frequent updates and new features. Firefox is in my opinion a much better browser (as long as you use the proper addons as I pointed out here).

Anyway, BAT is an amazing project as it aims to fix online advertising monopoly and costs distribution (which are all on the internet provider and on the user experience, and Google/Facebook have zero costs).

I don´t think BAT depends on Brave browser. Actually, I believe Brave is much smaller than BAT, and BAT must be usable outside Brave, as a firefox/chrome/edge/safari addon or something like that. That´s the only downside of the project IMO.

Other topic: I was thinking about adding Gold/Silver or other commodities to the investment club, however I don´t know how it would be possible with BTC. Any ideas?

Edit: Jet Cash, maybe you can create a topic in Ivory Tower, or here in Securities, about the projects that have potential for investment?

PAR could be awarded automatically, and could vary between boards. Negative PAR could be a tool for the mods as an alternative to banning. They could punish poster with variable amounts as well as just removing it for a low value post.

Another advantage could be the provision of additional shop items. Avatars could be one, but those are already provided for in the current system.

Theymos Said he doesn't want money.

I wanted to donate to the forum and asked about new donator ranks (as 50btc is too much for me) , and he refused.

11165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to post more effectively and get more Merit. on: January 04, 2019, 12:03:15 PM
Isnt this post referring to censorship in a way?
Telling people how to post is just as bad as being stalked by the grammar police!

It´s not a censorship.

You can still spam around and nobody will bother you. You just won´t get any merit lol

You have the right to spam "good project", one-line bullshit, a wall of texts, or similar stuff everywhere, but no one has the obligation to give you any merit. This is not censorship, this is just common sense.

Merit is something that other users reward you for helping them. It´s not censorship. lol
11166  Economy / Gambling / Re: ★★★ TRUE FLIP 🐬 DICE, SCRATCH, SLOTS, LOTTERY ★★★ NEW GAME OUT NOW! on: January 04, 2019, 11:38:40 AM
just had my lottery win withdrawal rejected by trueflip without any explanation
also ignored my message asking why
if you do not allow people to withdraw the prize or have any additional requirements, you should have mentioned it in the topic
or at least do the courtesy of replying to my pm
disappointed

Hello,

I just want to point out to everyone that I was able to withdrawal my funds that I won on the lottery promoted by TRUEFLIP.IO

It took just a few hours and funds are already on my wallet.

I wasn´t going to withdrawal now, but as I saw that message I decided to try to remove my funds. I am very happy to have won the lottery twice and successfully withdrawal the prize.

Trueflip is indeed a serious company and this contest is legit.

I wish all the best to trueflip.io and keep up the good work!

Hello jetcash.

Just created an account in the forum, waiting for approval.

I have many questions, and I want to get started Smiley

How much investment do you think is enough to start?

I have 3 suggestions for Altcoins, which are all top100(about rank 30,40 and 70). Can I make the suggestions already?
What are the rules for choosing Altcoins? Maybe there could be some rules like : must be listed in binance or some other reliable exchange.

Will all discussions be public on the forum, or closed to members?
Will the discussions be copied to Bitcointalk forum to attract more members?

I believe ICOs may be interesting if we dump the coins fast enough too.

I will post my questions on the forum also when/if I get approved

11171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 is all about iGaming dApps on: January 03, 2019, 10:37:57 PM
Unfortunately, dApps are still barely used.

Even on ethereum Network, the Dapps most used have about 1000 users per day, which is very low.
As I pointed out here:

I found this website and I discovered that the most used Dapps in the Ethereum network are 0x and MarketDao. I don't know those projects very well, but their number of users in the last 24h was very low, 1000 users.

So, 2019 may be an year where this number increases. But I doubt it  will be a Dapps year.
11172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do I know a coin to be safe based on CoinMarketCap and other resource? on: January 03, 2019, 07:37:00 PM
What can be considered to be general parameter for a coin to be established and safer relatively to be invested upon?
A safe parameter would be to consider the coins with larger market cap, such as BITCOIN, RIPPLE and ETHEREUM. Those coins are less volatile than others and they are *probably* not going to zero anytime soon. They have a high active dev team and are somehow trusted.

Their marketcap is very high, billions of dollares, so they are somehow safer to invest.

Quote
That the coin is stable?
No coin is stable. Only Tether and other stable coins, which are pegged to USD value. 1 Tether = 1 USD always.

Quote
Consider CoinMarketCap, where does it mean that if the coin is listed here it is established? OR if it is in the top 1000 or if it is in the top 500 or 100?
Listing in CoinmarketCap(CMC) only means that the coin is listed in a exchange that CMC recognizes.

In general, top3 cryptocurrencies are the safest. In the Top100 coins you will find many possible scams (like bitconnect).

Quote
Apart from CoinMarketCap are there ways to evaluate or estimate the stability and establishment of a coin? Or do we find such coins in certain exchanges such that the exchange is very particularly choosy or that it has a certain clear performance index as a measure for a coin to feature therein?
The best way to evaluate the coin you are interested is a fundamental analysis, which cannot be done in CMC. You need to read the whitepaper, look information about the team, see if they are legit, and if their business is needed. If the coin has any reason to have any value.... Even if they are all ok, their business may not be lucrative. It´s a high risk/reward.
11173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2019 mens Australian Open (tennis) betting odds on: January 03, 2019, 07:21:21 PM
Djokovic 2.30
Federer 8.00
Nadal 8.20
Zverev 9.50

I like Nadal and Federer. They made really nice games over those last 10 years.

I don´t think Nadal is done, he may surprise everyone. He is not as old as Federer, who is really done physically.

11175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hard Fork Question That Blows Your Mind on: January 03, 2019, 06:21:56 PM
Should be easy.

PS. That is why many altcoins have very low value. They are easy to make. And if there is nothing new or original, where would the value come from?

That's the problem with forks, and why you should sell them as fast as possible.

Usually forks are premined, then they do a lot of marketing after their bags are full of pre mined coins...
11176  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin Over? on: January 03, 2019, 04:34:39 PM
"Bitcoin's intrinsic value is the amalgamation of the platform, its users, and its development."

I don't agree.

There are many other attempts to create a cryptocurrency before, but all of them failed. Do you know why? Because they were centralized. Bitcoin was the first truly decentralized.

Actually, you do agree. You agree that the intrinsic value of Bitcoin comes from its "platform" because you state that Bitcoin is successful because it is decentralized.

Well, I agree with that. However I don´t agree with this statement, which I quoted:

Now I know some other more famous crypto influencers have mentioned things like decentralization, cost of production, etc., but I think those things are a means to an end and not the endgoal themselves. Like decentralization is for the purpose of censorship resistance and fraud prevention.

Decentralization is the end, not "the means to an end." The whole goal of bitcoin is to create an independent monetary system..
11177  Other / Meta / Re: A different approach to solving the sig spamming problem. on: January 03, 2019, 03:35:09 PM
Don't you guys think that signature campaigns are good for bitcoin adoption?

Personally, before I joined this forum, i had only one wallet that had something like 10 transactions. I bought Bitcoin only to sell it in a higher price later.

Few months later I discovered this forum and the many bounties/campaigns here. I started to use bitcoin as money. Now I have multiple wallets, dozens of addresses with hundreds of transactions.

Spamming is a problem here. However, spammers are adoption Bitcoin. They are contributing to the network, as they are receiving money and transferring it. In other words, they are adopting Bitcoin as a currency (for their spamming efforts, which is questionable..)

Also, there are legit services here that advertise through the forum. I believe all those signature marketing could be easily converted to forum's income, if theymos disabled signature and put ads everywhere. But that wouldn't contribute to BTC adoption.

Eidt: ofc spam is a problem and this problem should be at least reduced. But radical proposals may have an even worse result than the spamn problem

Today, 01/03/2019 marks 10 years since the Genesis block was mined.

The Genesis block contained the following text within it´s coinbase script:
Code:
The Times 03/Jan/2009 Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks.

This text is a reference to The Times magazine, you can check in the image below. This text marked the intent behind bitcoin, in a time of a financial crisis worldwide.
