11181  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Anyone using btcquick.com for the past 24hrs? on: April 03, 2013, 05:36:31 PM
https://www.btcquick.com/

I cannot log in to my account. I got a cloudflare page welcome. Look like the site (but not the welcome page) is down. I just sent my second email to btcquick as I am still waiting for my first reply in 15 hours.

Anyone beside me use their services or had any trouble accessing their account and follow up to their purchase in the past 24hrs?

Thanks anyone.
11182  Economy / Service Discussion / Anyone using btcquick.com for the past 24hrs? on: April 03, 2013, 04:08:46 PM
Hello! I was wondering what was your average reply from btcquick and how fast was your purchase cleared?

Thank you.
11183  Other / Off-topic / Re: !!! Porsche Cayman S Sells for ~300 BTC on Bitcointalk.org !!! on: April 03, 2013, 05:12:28 AM
I dont get whats so special

Someone sold his Porsche for BTC instead of USD simply because some (early adaptor) had BTC he wanted to launder

This is no different than the Porsche owner selling it for USD and then converting that to BTC on MtGox, except that now there's money laundering involved

Thats why the buyer wants to remain anonymous

Wow! Money laundering no less? You forgot to mention all that child pornography in the trunk as well as the Mexican heads as proof of delivery...

Congrats to the OP! We get it!

On the "bitcoin flag" I proposed the concept of something everyone would agree on before making a design so it would help to have more focused results. The whole concept is decentralization. Yet everything is based on mathematical codes. Why not have a representation based on the actual codes, and not some random 0010010101 to make it cool. Once a simplified mathematical equation defining the "idea" of bitcoin is presented, redefining it as a design may have a broad natural organic adoption or help fueling creativity.

I have been watching his video regarding bitcoin. His hair is like Einstein's own hair in a Greek riot and he has the most memorable expression. But he does explain things very well for the masses.

He should get more traffic...

I was wondering if that was technically possible using the SMF platform.
almost everything is "technically possible".

Cool.
11189  Other / Meta / Re: How hard would it be to have a ticker built in the forum somewhere? on: March 30, 2013, 03:39:26 PM
the price on bitcoin.
from what exchange?

I want to keep this forum and exchanges separated.

Well... All of them. Something like a scrolling about BTC exchanges, bitcoin newsflash, etc. This would not be for the hardcore traders but a simple text line scrolling on the bottom of the forum that ppl could click on to learn more about whatever while they read and reply in the forum. RSS feed I guess. I was wondering if that was technically possible using the SMF platform.

I care about bitcoin, the polar bears, and... The children! Smiley

I was wondering if the "simple machines forum" platform would allow to use some plugin to have it implemented.
11191  Other / Meta / How hard would it be to have a ticker built in the forum somewhere? on: March 30, 2013, 07:59:26 AM
This forum is like a drug. Why waste the life of a perfectly innocent new tab to keep an eye on the price on bitcoin when I could help save the polar bears and going green by using one tab instead of 2 for all the bitcoin infos.

Thank you.
11192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Made a video about how to get a BitCoin wallet, what do you think? on: March 30, 2013, 07:49:04 AM
Hello! I have been watching your videos, the ones about bitcoin. Pretty cool. I got to your site thanks to thebitcoinchannel.com

It would be cool to have a head to head reviews between all the clients. There is ZERO youtube videos about any of them that's is not crazy old, multibit, electrum. I do not even believe there is a video about armory.

Keep up the good work.
11193  Other / Off-topic / Re: "BTC Pride" Equal Rights on: March 28, 2013, 09:54:11 PM
It would be bizarre for a bitcoiner to support anything a central governance would force people to do or believe. Sending support to give more power to the same people who inspired other human beings to create bitcoin does not compute.

BUT bitcoin itself does not care what I think so more power to those who support this cause with it.
11194  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any Women Use Bitcoins? LOL! on: March 28, 2013, 02:45:12 PM
From the website and why I will make sure to remember their bitcoin address so I never send a S. by mistake:

"Todays topic is a simple, but elegant solution that would solve all your problems, without wide scale destruction, gendercide, or the necessary exctinction of the human species. Well, maybe the latter one, but that depends on how much people care about the continued existence of their cilivilisation, or at least to have offspring.

My suggestion would be, to drop the “plato bomb”, wich differs from the usual depopulation bombs that it doesn`t actually kills anyone. (Well, maybe people with extremely weak immune systems.)

I don`t want to go into the details to much. In short, i am talking about a biological weapon that would attack certain receptors and certain glands in male humans, while it would be realitevely easy to shrug off the infection, so the host will not die, it would destroy its capabaility to enjoy sex, as well as the urge to mate in the first place, and it would have to be very infectious, at minimum on the level of flu.

In short, Men would all become asexual, utterly uninterested in sex, but not actually impotent, so they could still sire offspring.

I am sure feminists would love it. Just think about, the porn and all sex industry would likely collapse overnight, freeing all those poor exploited women to pursue different careers. There would be no molestation, sexual harassment, or sexual harassment lawsuits. No rape, and by extense no false rape allegations either, because in a world full of asexuals, any accusation of rape would become laughable, so even MRA-s couldnt complain."
11195  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Freaking Drudge Report running Bitcoin Stories now. on: March 28, 2013, 01:57:59 PM
For those who don't know drudge is the ugliest page on the planet BUT one of the most visited (statistics are there somewhere). So any links, especially above the (browser) fold is a very big deal.

11197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Solar-Powered Broadband Access Using Cutting-Edge TV White Space Technology on: March 26, 2013, 09:04:09 PM
One of my first post here was about using HAM radio and bitcoin and the internet. This is not directly about bitcoin so this thread could be moved to the appropriate sub forum. This is amazing how any human can be online anywhere all the time without a heavy development structure or impact on Nature (Yes! Polar bears look tasty, we should try to save them).

Internet access = bitcoin. If we go beyond "Microsoft's Propaganda", this tech is really cool.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/news/Press/2013/Feb13/02-04WhitespacesPR.aspx

NAIROBI, Kenya — Feb. 5, 2013 — Microsoft Corp., in collaboration with the government of Kenya’s Ministry of Information and Communications and Indigo Telecom Ltd., today announced the launch of a pilot project delivering low-cost wireless broadband access to previously unserved locations near Nanyuki and Kalema, Kenya. The network utilizes TV white spaces and solar-powered base stations to deliver broadband access and create new opportunities for commerce, education, healthcare and delivery of government services.

This pilot is part of Microsoft’s broader 4Afrika Initiative (see related release), to help improve the continent’s global competitiveness. A core goal of the 4Afrika Initiative is to facilitate access to technology for the masses and to empower African students, entrepreneurs, developers and others to become active global citizens.

TV white spaces, the unused portions of wireless spectrum in the frequency bands generally used for television, are particularly well-suited for delivering low-cost broadband access to rural and other unserved communities. Radio signals in the TV bands travel over longer distances and penetrate more obstacles than other types of radio signals and, therefore, require fewer base stations to provide ubiquitous coverage. Microsoft intends to use this pilot and other similar initiatives to encourage African governments to make the needed legal and regulatory changes that would allow this type of technology to be deployed continentwide.

11198  Economy / Economics / Cyprus bail-out: savers will be raided to save euro in future crises, says... on: March 26, 2013, 02:25:09 PM
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/financialcrisis/9952979/Cyprus-bail-out-savers-will-be-raided-to-save-euro-in-future-crises-says-eurozone-chief.html

Savings accounts in Spain, Italy and other European countries will be raided if needed to preserve Europe's single currency by propping up failing banks, a senior eurozone official has announced.

The new policy will alarm hundreds of thousands of British expatriates who live and have transferred their savings, proceeds from house sales and other assets to eurozone bank accounts in countries such as France, Spain and Italy.
The euro fell on global markets after Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the Dutch chairman of the eurozone, announced that the heavy losses inflicted on depositors in Cyprus would be the template for future banking crises across Europe.
"If there is a risk in a bank, our first question should be 'Okay, what are you in the bank going to do about that? What can you do to recapitalise yourself?'," he said.
"If the bank can't do it, then we'll talk to the shareholders and the bondholders, we'll ask them to contribute in recapitalising the bank, and if necessary the uninsured deposit holders."
Ditching a three-year-old policy of protecting senior bondholders and large depositors, over €100,000, in banks, Mr Dijsselbloem argued that the lack of market contagion surrounding Cyprus showed that private investors could now be hit to pay for bad banking debts.
11199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not solve any problems! on: March 26, 2013, 03:19:24 AM
I have a simple question for the OP: When was the world ever good and fair? Was it before the invention of money? before the concept of bartering? Maybe it was before the invention of humans?

Your question is beyond Bitcoin's err... pay grade. Bitcoin is trying to fulfill one objective. What you seek could be found in spirituality or deep meditation, but not inside a bitcoin wallet.

Obviously it is a fun thread and I guess you already knew all that :-)
11200  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: DEFCAD.com on: March 26, 2013, 03:09:13 AM
The Beck interview was great and this video was "fair" as far as I can see. Cody is the face of the upcoming tsunami. Like bitcoin going after him would be like stopping the advancing wall of water with a plastic cup.

I have to say it is always fascinating to hear a journalist saying his article about a subject was one of his biggest hit while saying his subject was craving for attention. As if the journalist's biggest dream was a failed article no one would want to read. This is bizarre to say the least, but he needs to create the illusion he is detached from his paycheck but so in touch with his immaculate craft.

Great work!
