1121  Other / Meta / Re: Having android iOS app? on: September 24, 2023, 10:42:46 AM
Doesn't it sound great to have bitcoin talk mobile app to access the forum any time on the go. May be while you are travelling or not in the mood of going PC.
Adding and improving things with time will give new height to the forum?
I like how the web browsing of this forum and I may not use the app, although if one is created I will first try it and see out it is. I do not think we need an app to be accessing this forum though.

As you can see in the above posts, many people have even asked this forum before but nothing done. If you think there is a need for it, you can create the app yourself which would be a good project.
1122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you could..... What will it be? on: September 24, 2023, 09:53:57 AM
What if you could delete an occurrence from happening in the cryoto-world, both past and current events making it that they don't happen or didn't happened. What would it be?

As  for me it is the FTX crash saga which led to many persons losing their funds that could have yield some profits by now. It was one of the saddest period for many in the crypto world.
Nobody have the power to make an occurrence from not happening unless they avoid what the masses are doing because the masses are the ignorant people. Example is the FTX that you mentioned, before the hack, people were told not to leave funds on centralized exchanges, but they will not listen. If they will have money on exchanges, it should not be more than the trading fund which they can also afford to lose.

Another one that people will not have wanted are the Luna, UST and other depegged stable coins, the Mt. Got and Cryptopia exchanges hacked. There are many other exchanges that were also hacked. Nowadays, there are also many DeFi hack and many like that. The best is to just avoid all these bad occurrences.

There are others include the pump and dump projects and exit scam projects and others that have occured in the past.
1123  Other / Meta / Re: Request for sent merit edit button on: September 23, 2023, 10:44:04 AM
My reason for this post is shouldn’t we have something like a second warning when the confirm button is clicked, like ’are you sure you want to send this amount to so so’
That can not be done. Check and check the number of merits that you want to send again and again before sending it.

Secondly shouldn’t we have a patch on editing merit sent even if it is for a specified time like how the edit button doesn’t reflect edited when it is done immediately the post is made.
I do not see any reason for that, it is best as it is now that if you send merit already, you can not reclaim or reverse the merit that you have sent already.

When you are about to send merit on the merit sending page, you will see it can not be undone immediately under the send button, that is enough as a warning that the merit sent can not be reversed.
1124  Other / Meta / Re: is Politics and Society board turning into a lowkey Off-topic board? on: September 22, 2023, 10:09:29 PM
The best that you can do is to keep reporting the topics that are not belonging to the right board. Moderators on this forum are not lenient about reporting topics like that, they act fast and move the topic.

Posting topics on the wrong board is common on this forum but reporting them has been helpful.

The thread links that you post are created by people we can refer to as newbies. Creating topic on the wrong boards is common to those that have just joined this forum. Keep reporting the topics.
1125  Economy / Gambling / Re: Who is likely to win the match between Arsenal and Tottenham? ? on: September 22, 2023, 04:10:04 PM
Both teams have been in their best form so far and have been fit playing just fine. We should all know that irrespective of the fact that football is a competition, there must definitely be a winner and a loser and by  chance any team can win the match come the match day.
There must be definitely a winner or loser? What if they played 90 minutes and the match ended as draw. Like 1:1 or 2:2. A match may not ended as draw and it may ended as draw. There are matches that can ended as no goal at all which is 0:0.

Here is my prediction;  Arsenal 2 : 1 Tottenham.
I am thinking that Arsenal would win either and I am expecting goals.
1126  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 22, 2023, 10:17:14 AM
I think he refer to either,
1. Transaction with many inputs.
If a transaction is containing many inputs, the transaction virtual size can be high but the signature is just one. Or is that wrong? Or is the high size of the transaction that result to the issue?

2. Transaction which spend input which require to reveal long script or contain many signatures.
Did you mean transactions that are broadcasted using a multisig wallet? If it is multisig, I do not use it as a multisig but as a single signature wallet.
1127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is nsa behind the creation of bitcoin? on: September 22, 2023, 10:04:54 AM
Let them continue to speculate on Faketoshis.

If Satoshi Nakamoto wants to disclose his/her/their identity, people would have known him/her/them by now. The only prove that can be used to know who Satoshi really is if he reveals himself to the public.

When he has not reveal himself, see anyone that are involved in the progress of bitcoin as Satoshi.
1128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's Intention/Vision For Bitcoin on: September 22, 2023, 09:26:14 AM
If only Satoshi had come back one last time to clarify his intentions. But he didn't. And here we are, arguing about what he/she/they intended for Bitcoin to be, Look at the clues Satoshi left behind and decide for yourself. To me, Satoshi's intentions are abundantly clear.

So what do you guys think...?
Who are those that are arguing? I have not seen anyone that is argue with other users on this forum about bitcoin and how it can be used as an investment and a store of value in long term, but no matter the prospect of something or how good the thing is in design, some people are just existing to criticize that thing.

I have not read bitcoin white paper before because I do not need to read it after knowing what it is already. But are you sure the 21 million supply is not on the white paper?
1129  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why are some trust feed backs not having reference on: September 21, 2023, 11:49:47 PM
If you are in a campaign and you like how the campaign manager always do the excellent work, you may or you may not need to put a reference link to the positive trust that you give the campaign manager.

If someone is known as a scammer and some people tag the person account with red already, if you know that it is valid, you may or you may not include reference link if you also tag the scammer's account red.

If you do a trade with one of the forum members but outside this forum, how can you put reference link? You may not be able to. If you more trades with the person with good outcome of no complaints, you can give the person a positive trust without any reference link.

There are other reasons you may not add reference link, but if possible you can add a reference link, it is better.
1130  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seniors apply patience and kindness to newcomers on: September 21, 2023, 06:38:55 PM
I have concerns about the interactions between experienced members and newcomers in this forum. Occasionally, some experienced members can be quite harsh and may forget that newcomers are here to learn. While constructive corrections are beneficial, it's crucial to avoid using harsh or abusive language.
Newbies also supposed to know that they are newbies. If they are not corrected, this forum may lack the quality posts it supposed to have. Newbies should accept how this forum is and learn in the process. Without the politeness that you called harshness, some newbies may not become better. As long as the quality of posts are there, this forum is good how it is. No matter how harsh some experienced members may be, members are not the same and some newbies are growing.

It's true that some posts from newcomers may be of low quality or show a lack of willingness to learn initially. However, I believe that giving them a chance and treating them with kindness is a reasonable approach.
People can not be the same. Newbies that will rank up will rank up and remember the past when they are corrected. You should know that newbies will become established members too if they accept corrections. When they become established members, they will understand better. Rank up and you will understand.
1131  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: USB port blocker on: September 21, 2023, 04:15:20 PM
This is the best method, but I prefer to have a port for an SD card or even a USB. Sometimes, there is a need to transfer PSBT files, or there are large signatures for which a QR code cannot be created due to the lack of enough space.
This is the first time I am hearing about this because QR code has not failed me before. What do you mean by large signature?

Hardware wallets feature a secure element, so instead of spending money on a locked USB port, purchasing a hardware wallet with a secure element and creating a multi-signature wallet will greatly enhance the security of your coins.
I did not know that I can be able to lock and unlock the USB board using password on the laptop, it would be best for what I am looking for. When I have old laptop, I do not see a reason I should get a laptop. I may buy hardware wallet.

Apart from this, the USB ports can be disabled in the computer too through "Device Manager" if you are using the Windows Version.
I saw it under universal serial bus controller which can be found under device manager.
1132  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Quantum Threat to Bitcoin: Implications for Miners, Nodes, and Wallets on: September 21, 2023, 12:53:26 PM
This will not affect mining or nodes or bitcoin wallets. Only what that will happen is for bitcoin developers to develop quantum computer resistant one which may require an update nodes, miners and wallets.

Before bitcoin will not be able to be resistant against quantum computing, bitcoin developers would have created quantum resistant one.
1133  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / USB port blocker on: September 21, 2023, 12:43:51 PM
One of the safest method of having a secure wallet is the use of airgapped devices. If an airgapped device has camera, all needed is the use of QR code and the camera for the transfer of PSBT and signed transactions and nothing more than that. Which means after the device OS has been installed again and the wallet has been created on the airgapped device, the device does not need to connect to the internet or other devices again. If the Bluetooth and WiFi card have be removed, what about the USB port?

I found out online that USB port locker can be used. I saw these two videos on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/q1L3lCDVZUg?si=mLgi0uYnk6MHdI-s
https://youtu.be/BEtOV7RVK6s?si=vEUt2D9GbDbBOnGf

If this USB port locker is bought and used to lock the USB ports, is it like the house door keys that if another locker is used with the locked USB Port, the port will not be unlocked until the right one used to lock it will be the only one that can unlock it? Or are there ways attack can be able to remove the locker in a way the USB port will not be damaged?

Or is it just a waste of time in a way that the locked USB port can be removed and replaced by new one?

Is it worth buying?
1134  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Journey of a newbie. on: September 21, 2023, 11:48:26 AM
Bitcoin and many other crypto like the stable coins are helping people in countries with inflation like Turkey, Venezuela and many countries in Africa and Asia. If you know that your government are devaluing your local currency, bitcoin and many other cryptocurrencies is what you can go for. Some people see it easy to buy stable coins as they buy some bitcoin but the best against inflation is bitcoin.

The advice that I have for you is to not leave your coins on those centralized exchanges and to protect your noncustodial wallet not to be hacked. If you want a well protected wallet, wallet on airgapped device would be good or buy a hardware wallet.
1135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting significant amount on: September 21, 2023, 11:42:18 AM
Sometimes I bet my entire remaining deposit, but mostly I do so only when I urgently need to finish a gaming session and do some business. In normal situation I try to play with small bets to prolong the gaming session as long as possible. In my understanding, the higher the stakes, the higher the risks, and I don't really like to take risks as Lady Luck doesn't visit me as often as I would like.
As for me if I have more money on the gambling site, not that it is that much but able to let me go 1 hours or more if I continue to gamble every 20 to 30 seconds. If it is like this, I am not bother because I use reputable casinos and I will just leave the remaining money on the gambling site till the following day to continue gambling. I have only prefer to have fun on casinos.
1136  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Investing with Bitcoin will be the most profitable project of life. on: September 20, 2023, 09:29:50 PM
When Satoshi Nakamoto launched this virtual currency (Bitcoin) in 2009, the market value of Bitcoin was zero. But in July 2010 itself
1BTC = $0.09
Bitcoin market value can not be zero as it was not even zero from the start, at least it will start with a price. According to what I read, the market value of bitcoin started with $0.03 when it was created in 2009.

The price has doubled. This means investing with Bitcoin will never count as a loss project. Bitcoin is our future profitable investment. And patiently we should spend more time behind Bitcoin.
That is just it and you are not doing anything wrong if you are holding bitcoin, all-time-high will be seen again.
1137  Other / Meta / Re: Can Avatar Sizes Automatically Adapt to Space? on: September 20, 2023, 04:15:26 PM
Can this be done automatically? So that images can be automatically resized after uploading?
You can not do it automatically, it will not work. You have seen the requirements before you can upload avatar on this forum and anything larger than 120px wide, 80px high, and 100 KiB size images will not be successfully be uploaded but bring up error.

There are many apps that are available that you can use to resize the images. These kind of applications also will reduce the kilobytes of the image to less than 100 kilobytes.
1138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please review my inheritance strategy on: September 20, 2023, 09:41:19 AM
1. Write down my 24 word seed phrase sorted alphabetically and give it to my partner or anyone else
2. Put the numerical index of the order of this into a deadman switch which will be sent to them if I fail to respond for my chosen period / times.
If you write the seed phrase down and backup how it can be arranged in another place, this means the seed phrase is disarranged where you write them down in alphabetical order. If it is 12 words, your seed phrase can be arranged using a computer or GPU with btcrecover. If you want to do something like this, use 24 word seed phrase.

As for me I can not go for this method of backup.
1139  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The best way to use fingerprint to unlock your bitcoin wallet on Android on: September 19, 2023, 07:36:31 PM
This idea is a bit tricky because I think you need another app called the app lock to be able to use this procedure you stated. If it is so, isn’t it a very bad idea to have you wallet embedded into another app again. You never know what details that could be exposed to the app lock
I have been seen it on Android since I have been using Android many years ago, you will see it under security under settings.

This maybe a good idea to some but still glitch can happen, technological devices aren't immune from malfunction and glitches, like I said before my friend has at a time used his finger print to unlock my device although this happened only on one trial it did happen.
If the fingerprint is passed, pin or password would be needed to fully unlock the wallet. It is just an extra layer of protection.

I have been using this with the little amount of coins I have on my mobile wallets and I like it.
1140  Other / Beginners & Help / The best way to use fingerprint to unlock your bitcoin wallet on Android on: September 19, 2023, 06:13:05 PM
Yes, fingerprint bitcoin wallet unlock is the worst, but did you know that fingerprint unlock can still benefit you?

I am an Android user but I think this can be done on iOS. iOS users can let us know if it can be done.

This is it:

Only enable pin or password unlock on your bitcoin wallet. Do not enable fingerprint because it will override your pin or password unlock and that is bad for your security because it makes your wallet not secure.

After you enable pin or password unlock on your wallet. On your Android phone, go to security and enable the app lock for the apps that you want to be using fingerprint to be opening. If you do this and you enable fingerprint on your phone, the apps you enable will first demand for fingerprint unlock, follow by the pin or password unlock.

Is this a good idea?
