1121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Awareness - Welcoming New Bitcoiners with $1 Worth of Sat in Cameroon on: October 19, 2023, 06:37:40 PM
A few days ago, I was part of the team that embarked on a mission to introduce newcomers to bitcoin in Cameroon. The experience was both exhilarating and enlightening, as we engaged with the curious and passionate young Africans eager to understand the intricacies of Bitcoin. It was a profound moment of introspection, witnessing their genuine interest and profound questions about bitcoin. We did our best to impart knowledge, covering essential aspects such as the fundamentals of Bitcoin, its role as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies, the inner workings of the Bitcoin network, and concepts like proof of work. We delved into the realm of Bitcoin creation and mining, explaining the significance of Bitcoin wallets and how to secure them effectively, among other topics.

I am impress with the drive and eagerness by your team  to do something that spreads bitcoin awareness and adoption among the young people and you didn't actually stop there you have to offer them the opportunity to practically get on desk immediately by encouraging them with some Satoshi to have an experience of  what they have been lectured about exploring how it works.

Do you guys plan on continuing  the $1 worth of Satoshi to newcomers just after this set or it's just a part of the initiative that ends with this set learners. Because I was wondering how you guys source the money you gifting out as part of the programme?
1122  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: October 19, 2023, 12:12:14 PM
Don't rest on gambling as source of financial income.

Not matter what people may say, gambling should be fun and that fun shouldn't be found only when we win but in losing too.

Never chasing losses can be helpful not to lose more. If you win in one or two games of the day just quit and go home to play another day.

Never gamble above your set gambling amount it better or makes you more In charge if you try to gamble below more often.

Never take loan to gamble, if you don't have the money to then just relax and feel comfortable while watching others play. Or better still just go home.
1123  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An agent is no where to be found. on: October 19, 2023, 11:44:25 AM
Today I witness something very strange in the area where I live recently. There was a gambling shop that was not too far from where I am staying, so every day different gamblers visit the shop to bet on games, some win and some don't win a dime.

So, yesterday afternoon, a man bet on a midnight game and the game played accordingly as predicted, but the surprising thing was that the betting agent ran away with the money the man won, and the betting agent is no where to be found.

However, I am here to say these are the reasons why it is not always good to gamble in a betting agent's shop, because if the manager of the shop does not run with the money a gambler wins, then one of the workers in the betting shop might run away with the money someone wins, so I do conclude that an online gambling site with good reputation is the best for gambler, so what do you guys have to say about this?.
That is one disadvantage of using small betting shops where you can't assure that when you win a huge amount they will pay right away. But the scenario that you have told us is something usual these days as it also happens in our place as well. Not literally a scam thing because they also make payouts to those who win small but for financial reasons and family problems, they'll take the funds and leave.

Indeed, better not to use new betting sites especially when they involve 3rd parties as it is too risky.
Gamblers need to take into account all the possible consequences of their actions, if they are gambling just for the sake of fun and the amount they are using is very small then they can afford to gamble on those small shops, as even if they win the profits they will get will also be small, however if a person is gambling with a high amount of money in a game that could produce significant profits if they got lucky then they cannot gamble at such establishments, and instead they should only gamble at the most reputable casinos which will honor their obligations and pay them up in the case they win.
From what op explained I am not sure the problem of paying out the money is coming from the betting site/company but it's rather from a greedy bet shop owner who register as agent of the bet company as a channel through which in land gamblers can walk in and bet on their predictions. Some of these bet agents have given bad reputation to the bet sites they represent when the bat site has already paid in the won money into their ( the shop owner as agent) account immediately the bet win was confirmed so that can release the money to the appropriate winner but in their greed and scamming nature seeing how huge the money is they would choose to run away with the money. And this in turn cripples the repute of those bet sites they represent.

I have heard of these stories more often than one that's why I make sure to bet online if am using good amount to gamble with the expectation of winning a huge amount as returns just to avoid having my money at the mercy of betshop owners, except when am gambling for a small wins that doesn't make much sense to disappear with. Some of these bet shop owners are opportunists.
1124  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: What really happened to Nigeria Economy on: October 19, 2023, 09:42:23 AM
The answer is simple: bad leaders happened to the Nigeria economy and these bad leaders are still happening as I writing this now.  Imagine a country that is suffering from a bad economy yet the executive and parliament are budgeting billions for exotic bullet proof cars for themselves each year.

The Nigeria situation is crystal clear that we have more and more of politicians in administration than leaders with leadership qualities and are driven by the love to actually serve and not been served as we see in all the levels of government of the country. Quack them borku e be like them be rice Grin
I genuinely agree with your viewpoints, including the once-adored nation has crumbled, and the country is rife with aggravating incidents of tragedy and struggles. A slew of heinous occurrences have hit the country's economic sector, causing the currency to tumble in revenue. Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan served his country with all his might, even though it was the same country that Nigerians blamed and complained about his government, President Muhammadu Buhari took over and things changed for the worse, now is the tenure of Tinubu, who is the president with the worst record currently, everything is going up in price, he entered office and he targeted removing fuel subsidies, which have really affected the common man.
The question that reverberates in my head is this; it's crude oil the only natural resource that is embedded in Nigeria Huh that the political leadership has beam their hornet nest all around it without thinking of diversifying the economy through other sectors making it an equal sources of earnings to the nation.

In the 50's down to the early 70's we had agricultural produce and agriculture was what the nation depends on and Nigeria economy was booming with the local currency having value over the so-called dollar of today. We had groundnuts pyramids in the North, cocoa in the West and palm oil and yam barns in the Southern part of Nigeria all of which were produced in large quality for exports to other countries.

Not until the late 70's that crude oil was discovered in Nigeria and the politicians  got engulfed and disarticulated by the oil boom and that was the beginning of this economy downturns we have been experiencing for decades and it getting worsening each passing year because the mistake is still in course.

1126  Other / Meta / Re: "You are searching too quickly" on: October 18, 2023, 09:40:18 PM
Waiting for actually 10 minutes is a bit awkward, you could have just used another search engine. I tried it just now and works pretty fast for me, perhaps the words you searched have been used more often so it takes longer than usual, but not 10 minutes lol. I encountered the same issue but didn't took me any longer than 2 minutes, so yeah internet could be your problem or the device you are using.
if the word he was searching for has been searched for more often then that is the more reason the search process was supposed to be faster being a familiar words than any other words not being searched for a long time and not waste costly 10mins on doing that. Otherwise out of common sense  I'll agree with you that it might be due the quality of his device or network issue.
1127  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Flip or Trade? What’s The Bigger Gamble? on: October 18, 2023, 07:53:14 PM
Coin flipping has so much to do with luck and with little or no skill at all whereas in day trading you can't just open a position to trade hinging on luck there must be an applied skills from a long time built technique.
I have learnt a number of lessons from my losses in gambling but I can't say I can depend and work with the experiences of those losses to make profit in subsequent bets but for trade the more experience and knowledge you possess the more chances you have of making profitable trades without having to be lucky at it.
Exactly, that's their difference. Experience in luck based games (or in coin flip specifically) doesn't increase your chances to profit the next time you gamble again. Because there's no skills that can help you to win, thus regardless of what you do the result will still depend on your luck.

While on trading, experience can help you to improve, this can increase the possibility to profit next time since you gained knowledge already from your past experiences. Although it is also risky just like gambling, but trading doesn't solely relying on luck. The more experience you have, means you already learned something, it could be another knowledge or strategy.

Given that trading experience can supposedly increase one's chances of profitability, how do you account for seasoned traders who still face unexpected downturns? Isn't the market's inherent unpredictability a form of luck in itself? Additionally, do you know any traders who, through gaining experience from their trades, consistently achieve a stable positive return?
I supposed what you mean by seasoned trader is akin to consistent trader and for the fact that they are consistent traders doesn't make them win all trades because the market is unpredictable but it gives them an edge in winning more trades than they would lose. The unexpected downturns results from the market sentiments that is beyond the trader's control and it is his experience that helps him beat these sentiments to make profit for in trading without experience you can't win these inherent sentiments and luck is just a waste of hope if that what you wanna hang your penny on.
No one should deceive you mate, there's no stable returns in trading but like I said earlier experience enhances your chances of winning more trades more than you will lose if without trading experience.
1128  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin & Cryptocurrencies: Pioneers of Freedom Amidst Financial Crisis on: October 18, 2023, 01:50:18 PM
Investment is always cowardly. It is true that some believe in centralization and that you should not trust banking systems, but many will not risk investing 99% of their money in Bitcoin, especially if there is the possibility of any other investments. Profits are what motivate the vast majority to invest, and as long as there are profits, more will continue. In investing, when profits disappear, very few people will think about investing.
No person will want to invest their money where their won't be profit especially not those that still believes in the centralized system, they do invest in shares, bonds, stock all of this is to earn profit so what difference does it make for the majority you think that are investing in bitcoin because of profit.

I feel a 99% of people that invests in bitcoin after doing their own research invested not just for the profit but following the privacy that bitcoin decentralization offers a situation you can at any time have access to your investment funds and make use of with your private keys without having to get consent from a third-party or passing through a paperwork  before gaining access.

Investment is motivated by profit be it in stock, bonds, gold or bitcoin and if all of these financial tools has no ROI a whole number of people will step back, so it's natural that the number investing in bitcoin will reduce should profit be removed from bitcoin.
1129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just created Bitcoin multi signature wallet for the first time. on: October 18, 2023, 12:58:50 PM
1. Multisig wallet provides extra security for users that an intruder can not by any means gain access to funds by just having one key. To a degree it adds more security level since it can't be accessed by one one alone unlike single key wallets.

2. The idea behind multisig wallet is to protect co-partners from each other not to have access to funds without the knowledge of other partners, therefore if all multisig are made visible  to the knowledge of the three partners then the idea behind the multisig has been defeated even before you guys started it. Thus No, it shouldn't be visible to all.

3. It's possible two partners may die at same time particularly if they should happen to be in same car with a ghastly motor accident or anything in that manner, although it's rare both should die at same time but if that be the case it means the funds in the wallet is lost without.

Every wallet standard has its own affiliated risk it all depends on how we decide to manage these risks.
1130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin gift to wife. on: October 17, 2023, 09:53:55 PM
I promised in a post on this forum a few months ago. I had a plan to give half of my bitcoin investment to my wife after marriage. I got married a few days ago.
We don't get to hear about this kind of so often and that's why I am joining others to say a massive congratulations to you as a new married man. Gifting your newly wedded wife half of your total bitcoin investment is something surprising and lovely at same time because not many men will wanna think of doing that including me.

Quote
First I gave my wife all the ideas about Bitcoin. I was surprised to hear my wife, as soon as I told my wife about Bitcoin, she said that she had heard the name of Bitcoin before. I thought it would be very difficult to convince girls. But my wife was able to understand about Bitcoin very easily. I gave him half of the investment as per my word. He is very happy to get Bitcoin. My wife plans to hold bitcoin for a long time. Now you can say it is better to give girls gold jewelery than bitcoins. I have given gold ornaments to my wife as per her wish. Have any of you managed to teach your wife Bitcoin? Have any of you gifted bitcoin to a wife like me?
Op you making it seem as if bitcoin is mainly meant for male genders alone, bitcoin is just another form of money in digital form and money is not gender centric. Anyone can be interested and adopt bitcoin depending on how it was introduced to them.
I am not married yet, am still in the middle of it all and I don't think I have plans on gifting my wife bitcoin and I have my personal reasons for that. Hope it's cool I refer to your new home as a BTC home. Grin
1131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Australian Government set to regulate exchanges by 2024. on: October 17, 2023, 01:50:02 PM
Crypto exchanges based in Australia would be made to possess a financial service license. A license that will be issued by the country's regulator of the financial services sector  the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and by this it is only for those exchanges holding an exceeding amount of $3.2 million (A$5M) would be issued permit. The motive is said to protect consumers of exchange services which in other ways a groundwork to the growth of cryptocurrency.

Read
It's a right thing for government to do by initiating regulatory laws projected to protect her citizens from the possible wrongful manipulations of exchanges. Meanwhile, in recent scenarios draft legislations by government for the regulation of exchanges operating in the country have made a number of exchange's to exit countries they were once operational due to how unfavourable the regulatory laws made were said to be to the exchange's. Example of a fresh case we know of is that of binance leaving some of the countries they were once operating as a result of the regulations "might" have been grossly rigid for their business.

Therefore, is it possible that this proposed laws for 2024 by the Australian government would be something different from those of other countries that had to point some exchanges to the exit door?

Government is known for being too economical with the truth, as on the outer surface it's said to be all about protecting consumers but on the deeper perspective it might be regulations that's are weigh beyond just protecting consumers and maybe that's why some of these exchanges had to leave because the can't abide by the very regulations.
1132  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A fun way to learn "How bitcoin works" on: October 17, 2023, 12:11:09 PM
Quite an interesting way to teach a newbie about bitcoin and how it works. Dropping the video link with the story would have been more helpful for a newbie because my guts tells me that more important things beyond all that's is written in the op can be gotten in the video if a link was provided to it.

There's an impression I'll like to emphasize about how some bitcoin would wanna think about bitcoin when comparing it's useful case to fiat, and that impression is that bitcoin is fighting against fiat to take over the financial system of the world. It's not truly in that thought.

Bitcoin is just an alternative to the fiat banking system for people who wants financial freedom from centralized censorships about their privacy and based on the anonymity and decentralization the bitcoin blockchain technology offers it makes it an alternate measure  and not that BTC is constantly having a fight with fiat system. No one is forced to adopt, it's a choice based on what money mean to you.

Cointelegraph issues apology after falsely announcing that BlackRock's Spot Bitcoin ETF was approved by the SEC.

This news raised the price of Bitcoin in a short time.

where can I find the famous fake news in the last 5 years?

thx guys Wink

And if you are looking for a tweet in which they said, that Ishare's ETF got approved, it also exists in the page I shared. I hope you will get your answers after reading it. Here is another tweet they made as an apology.

source
The apology is insignificant as it is believed to be a professional premeditated handiwork that was carefully done to trigger the crypto market as what could be the resultant effect on the ETF approval.

More like an early experimental design done to test how the market reaction could be like at the approval of bitcoin spot ETF and obviously the market price really did reacted in an upward way in less than 120 minutes before the news was debunked.
1134  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: How many of our leader knows the functionality of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency? on: October 16, 2023, 09:54:01 PM
I came across a video online where a content creator interviewed some guys on the street about their knowledge of bitcoin/cryptocurrency and I was shocked by their rate of ignorance.

I analyzed the age range of those who said they have no idea of Bitcoin and found out that they are mostly in their early 40s and above.

This got me pondering on so many things and then I got to realize why a lot hasn't changed in our country even after we have a succession of leaders regularly
Let me hit the nail straight on the head about this issue.
1. The majority of the people have been made to believe that almost all the online forms of making money are scam and they are therefore not interested in anything concerning digital currency money making means.

2. With government restrictions and regulatory policies stoping banks for affiliating themselves with cryptocurrency it's very hard for people of that age to care about it in a society that's technologically backwards. At least some of these financial tech development  the bank would have been helpful in driving it's knowledge to their customers and the people trust the banks more as a financial institution hence whatever comes from them would be giving a an undoubted attention.

3. We don't have the right people in politics just a bunch of bigots who coercively found their way into power so what you expecting the dummies to do when they have not yet gotten satisfied with the looting and pillaging.
1135  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever heard about financing a gambler? on: October 16, 2023, 09:18:16 PM

Most of my friends are gamblers, there are quite a few who, when their capital runs out, they send me a message "Broo.. Do you have a balance? I want to make a deposit but I don't have the balance for that. And tomorrow I will pay more than that."
This is a classic reason that I often encounter when my close friends try to ask me for help so that I will lend them money.
addicts have a cunning way of requesting money from people particular from those they are certain they have slim chances of being given the money. Like just look at the way he puts it "tomorrow I will pay more". They make this kind of appeal statements just to make the giver feel good and be moved to give them money to go on with their gambling.

Quote

However, I personally never provide loans or capital to those who like to gamble. I do this not because I don't have money to lend, but when I try to give them a loan, this means I am supporting my friends to become addicted to gambling. I would rather be hated as a stingy person than have to lend money that makes them addicted to gambling which has a negative impact on them.
Addiction should never be encouraged no matter how persisting a gambling addict drag you for loan. Who knows if that friend of yours already have other person's he has taken loan from through this way and have not yet paid and is  about to add you to his list of friends he is indebted to. Friend or no friend no one should be encouraged in his compulsive gambling habit because when they grow worse we might directly or indirectly affected somehow as close associates.
1136  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Drake's Curse. on: October 16, 2023, 12:43:43 PM
Drake's net worth is $260 Million. He lost $0.85 million. Probably he can afford to lose it. Not all days are good for gamblers. There are days he also won.

But if I am Drake and have money like this, I can not spend on gambling like this.
Those of use that are not yet privilege to that height would always question why the rich and wealthy spend money the way they do!

But the bitter truth is that we would spend more of what they are spending if we're to be in their position. They have the money entering on all sides from one endorsement to another and all they are burdened with is how and where to spend those money on.

For a gambler like Drake he has many good investments in place yielding steady returns for him so therefore spending $0.85million of his networth can be said to be nothing to him it's possible as we speak now that amount has been refilled by one of his many endorsement deals.

The forum is probably the best source of information regarding any service which deals with cryptocurrencies, unfortunately not many people know about it and instead they prefer to try to find reliable information out on the wild on the internet.
This forum is very useful for everyone who has joined as a member here especially for the crypto industry and also online gambling on cryptocurrency basis.
When they say the forum has been useful for members regarding the gambling aspect I am one of such many persons ever since I joined the forum I don't use online crypto casinos that are not found in the forum and more so if they don't have an ANN thread of theirs which should explain alot about them for new users understanding and also make for old users to express their experiences overtime with the casino in form of reviews.
A bunch of online casino paid reviews are littered all over the internet that if a gambler is not watchful they might constantly be losing their funds to scam casinos.
I wouldn't say that your approach is not good of only using casino platforms that are available on the forum because there are a lot of people who do that and they have the belief that any gambling service provider that isn't available on the forum isn't trusted but that isn't entirely accurate because there are a lot of trusted and reputable casino platforms that also accept cryptocurrencies but they don't have an ANN or announcement thread in the forum.

Yeah, there are reputable casinos that accepts cryptocurrency that are not found in the forum but for some of us we just don't know them as being reputable by first sight, so It is for the avoidance of taking the risk of the probability of  falling for the wrong casinos before getting to meet a reputable one which by then I would have lost valuable money. So to avoid the unthinkable I had to placidly stick to the ones I find here in the forum.

Although there are some users who do not use forums as resource for knowledge or experience in the gambling industry and even use some of the listed casinos at least here in the gambling section this is one of the reasons why quite lot of new members join and start discussions or look for more information about casinos crypto.
Every review here is presented formally and most of them are really real without any contrivances like those given by shill accounts.

So that why there are quite lot of gamblers who join here because there are several casino rating assessment sites and there are quite lot of reviews that can be studied easily.

and if you noticed, some will post their problems here, but the thing is no one can assist them if they are complaining about a site which you can't find in this forum. but for comprehensive reviews and valid feedbacks, definitely, you can count on this forum. and most of the time such reviews or discussions, you can't find anywhere else. also, members won't stop nagging the site if there is unresolved and valid case. so it is always advisable to play on active sites that you can find in the forum.

By just resting on the knowledge that  any challenge or issues you encounter while making use of any casino found in the forum that forum members would make sure to see it get resolved amicably, (be it deposit or withdrawal issues) it gives you confident to bank on your choice of casino to whatever amount you can afford to gamble with, that you won't be scammed of it especially to those casinos that have existed for a long time in the forum.
1138  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler avoiding friends after a big win. on: October 16, 2023, 11:14:01 AM
At one of the local gambling shop I visited during the weekend I happened to listen to a conversation between two bald looking gamblers at the shop talking about one of their gambling colleague who had won a big amount of money amounting to a million in the local currency and due to that win this colleague of theirs' has been avoiding them since e won that money. From their conversation it was obvious that they were a circle of close three friends that gamble together.

After all I finished with my bet headed home and was asking myself what could the colleague act that way avoiding his close friends they all gambling together and just because luck shines on him first he decides to create a distance and class. I couldn't actually annex a good reason why anyone should do that.
It would have been nice to know how much money is what that person won in terms of dollars as that will give us a clearer view about his reasons for avoiding his friends.

Because if that amount is high in terms of dollars, it is possible the reason he is avoiding them is that he does not want to listen to the loan requests of his friends, as he will have to reject them directly, probably putting an end to the friendship right there, or he will have to accept the request, and most likely he will never get his money back.

In same vein $1million is a big money to an average US citizen that's how 1million in any local currency would seem big to a citizen of that country to which that currency is designated irrespective of exchange rate difference in the international market.

It doesn't have to be in dollars for it to worth his reasons for the avoidance.  Giving loans to family members or friends is a risk that any one would like to avoid because the ending part about getting back that loan in 10 out of 8 cases has never ended pleasantly for both parties.

For it's not difficult to get back a loan from strangers as you will be willing to apply every force necessary to getting it back without a feeling of sympathy for them but for family and friends sympathy and affinity usually gets in our way while trying to device forceful means to regain the loan from them.

I've noticed some posts relating to AI-generated content, so I'd like to ask: Is it against the forum's rules to use AI-generated content? For example, I want to compose a sentence or comment on a topic where I'd like to share my knowledge. However, since English is not my native language, sometimes what I'm thinking might not translate well in writing. I find AI to be a helpful tool for improving my writing, and I believe it could also make the moderators' job easier.

To what extent is it acceptable to use AI to enhance regular forum posts?
I enjoy creating my posts myself not mind it might not meet the standard of many people and it didn't bother me in as much as they receive the message understandably.  Based on where everyone is coming from our English standards cannot be same while you continuing doing it yourself you'll definitely blend and  improve your tense with time.

But depending on AI to create and arrange posts for you because you aren't a  native of English language is just absolutely bullshit because is someone else's work not and not yours that's why it's mainly regarded as plagiarism. Learning using AI isn't bad cause I also use it to learn about subjects I don't know about' however, using it to generate post and claiming author is not same as learning using AI.
