11201  Economy / Gambling / Re: #1 RATINGS of BITCOIN SPORTSBOOKS : poster book discussion on: January 15, 2020, 03:09:11 PM
I give out this warning every year. Only play at the top books this time of the year. After the Super Bowl is the prime time for books to run away with our money. Ratings are going to stay the same until a few weeks after the Super Bowl to verify payouts.

Good warning, too long seeing these exit scams happen for it to not be heeded. Would like to also say though, it's also a good time to check back with the oldies and see what they're offering as promos in this season. Bitcoinrush, Nitro always do their regular thing. FJ also looks to be doing the same. It's not so much a pointer as to their reputation, but it's an indicator that they're still active after all these years.

Prepare to update the D lists even after this season;)
11202  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: January 15, 2020, 01:02:37 PM
Looks like we're beginning to get consensus. Sunday 2pm GMT sounds about right for me. If I have to leave midway, though Liverpool playing a bit after that is convenient, I'm happy to forfeit (or use autoplay if SB has that option. Probably update OP to have an instruction on how to confirm participation. Username, agree to pay how much, etc. 1 mbtc fee good, right guys?

Its not that tough Royse. Just watch a couple of youtube videos. I learnt poker by playing Red Dead Redemption 2 myself.

Exactly how I taught it to a 15 yr old too =p.

P.S. Time to delete those spammy replies.
11203  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Promote Bitcoin..... It is for "us" on: January 15, 2020, 11:27:52 AM
Always cool to see posts like these. I think it's great people keep talking about bitcoin and promoting the use of it. Popular culture things too like art (or your tee shirt) I think do a lot, subconsciously, over the years to keep the conversations around bitcoin flowing. But don't forget to also keep using it as much as possible. When there's a bitcoin alternative to pay for things (or even to receive money), use it! Ask for it, support it! Keep doing it!
11204  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: January 15, 2020, 10:04:18 AM
Probably a blessing in disguise that there is more time for players to train and get really fresh for the next EPL encounter. Not that it will be easier since it's FA cup then Wolves because of the postponement but these things all happen. A lot of players seem to say that they don't mind playing so often though. Of course, do that for 1 year and the next year you all fall. City is the example after winning treble.

Yeah, Mane insists he can play 90 mins every game, even if it's 2 games a week. I remember playing at my peak in the 20s, and yeah, we'd play almost daily, and then at night even we play futsal (5 on 5). You actually don't get so super tired, but definitely when it's competitive, you want the body to have some days to recover because it gets actively physical. Not just about energy levels too but more risks of injury.

Then again, Championship teams play 46 games a season, and then have playoffs, and more cup games (as they start at a lower round than Premier League teams), so in general, yeah, they have to play more often than Prem teams but then Watford haven't played that rate of games for 4+ seasons now;)
11205  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BiFi - Bitcoin Paid VPN Wifi (Need Investor/Support) on: January 15, 2020, 08:42:34 AM
Don't tell me you are asking for funding before even having a working prototype?

I think he's telling us precisely that =p Can't seem to see any product actually on offer, or even any device that's being trialled.

And as pointed out by others, he's just gone and taken actual existing products/devices and tried to market the idea, with a token.

You could right now agree with someone on alibaba to get this device at a really cheap price, pay in bitcoin. Then pay separately, also with bitcoin, for an actually reputable VPN service for probably cheaper, less hassle than getting tokens you've no idea will ever continue working a year from now.
11206  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: NiceHash stops paying back -- scam or not? on: January 15, 2020, 07:37:44 AM
I'm kinda with stompix here. When "managed mining" worked out before, it wasn't that miners were managing well, it was simply that market forces were ensuring they could sell for profit and pay back "investors". And then when the market flopped, mining profitability did, and it all fell apart. Even the so-called breakthrough players who wanted to do things more professionally eventually flopped (talking about Gigawatts and Hydrominer for example).

The model's simply not feasible as it relies too much on the market, and promises ROI on a dollar value, not actual bitcoin returns.

Buy bitcoin. Or mine yourself.
11207  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcointalk Poker Night @ Sportsbet (Private game exclusively for forum members) on: January 14, 2020, 05:51:34 PM
Cool beans. Maybe do a small poll with 2 or 3 preferred time slots. I'm all for Sunday action. Maybe some time in the afternoon Europe to allow for US and Asian players. How long would it last?

For reference:
London = GMT
Central Asia = 5GMT
Beijing = 8GMT
US East Coast/EST = -5GMT

So a suitable time should be say 2pm GMT, then it's morning US, not too late night Asian, but maybe also ask each interested person to give a time? The poll should show most popular.

Buy in: make it 1-2 mBTC (about 8 to 16 dollars now) since Sportsbet is Bitcoin friendly. Keeps it easy to remember also as an entry fee.

My timezone: CET (+1 GMT)
11208  Economy / Economics / Re: Big risk ,big results. on: January 14, 2020, 04:10:28 PM
Pro traders are the ones who succeed in trading because they know the strategy to use and knowledgeable on what they are doing. For an ordinary trader its hard to risk our hard-earned money because of the dilemma that what if you fail or you lose your money. Thats why it takes a lot of guts because everything is uncertain and depends on your plan and strategy.

Don't believe the hype. I think most actual traders who somehow made it big know they were lucky. Lucky with timing and lucky to have enough discipline to exit when they were on top. Pro traders claiming the title and selling their strats don't usually cut it for me as actual professionals otherwise why would they need the measly tuition fees from their students?

You can't actually have big results if you haven't taking a bigger risk in trading and investing in cryptocurrency. The reason why people became rich because they work hard and risking their time and money, so they could just reach their goals and dreams in their life.

Also, most people fabulously wealthy had to get it by some not-very-wholesome means. There are a lot of exceptions of course, Bitcoin early adopters being one, but I've rarely met an actual rich person I liked. I didn't even realise this until a little later in life (late bloomer, yep) but there's a certain mentality you gotta be at to be really, really wealthy. All good that some can adopt that mentality. Not for me though.

Crapped out on both legs, thin selections today but with Watford in such blistering form (notwithstanding that they let a 3-0 lead come to today's replay!) it should be simple to bet on them again.

But what's this? We got a League One matchup that is begging for an upset, but will require both teams to throw form out the window. Bristol are ravaged by injury and bad luck to first choice keeper, but they romped 2-2 last time around so why not go for it?

Game 1: Coventry vs Bristol Rovers. Bristol WIN @8.56. Sportsbet odds: 8.10
Game 2: Tranmere vs Watford. Watford WIN @1.53. Sportsbet odds: 1.50

11210  Economy / Speculation / Re: Anyone else think "long term" hodlers are idiots? on: January 14, 2020, 11:01:25 AM
Another problem, actually the major problem in this matter, is the fact that with cryptocurrencies, most cryptocurrencies I'd say, it is no use waiting no matter how long you are going to wait. In other words, if you bought some shitcoin and it kicked the bucket in the process, then no amount of waiting is going to help you even if the coin is technically still alive (read, it hasn't been completely delisted from all exchanges)

As you can see, well, as anyone can see, long-term holding has its own drawbacks and pitfalls which you must be aware of and concern yourself with lest you should turn into a bag holder for someone less long-term oriented and who knows better than recklessly holding (if I can say so)

Which is why I've said in the past Bitcoin holders can be a misnomer for a lot of Bitcoin users -- if I can call myself that among others -- since we do maintain "savings" that we generally add to, but we're also using them all the time, more frequently even. Some keep seeking new ways to use it and for those earning chiefly in bitcoin now, as more and more freelancers I suspect are, it's more circumstance than choice that we're actually using bitcoin. This sets it apart from other alts, where most holders are simply just that... holders, without being users.
11211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Analysis company that trains students to detect cryptocurrency scams on: January 14, 2020, 09:33:59 AM
You really don't need some kind of fancy superhero league to train people in crypto scams. Crypto scams are totally the same as any other normal scam.

Teach people how to fish, not how to fish for a particular fish. Teach them basic personal internet security. Get people to improve their habits online and it will apply to crypto.

How do you tell people about private keys if they still use "password" as their password, for example?
11212  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 14, 2020, 08:29:42 AM
@Trofo, bad luck huh. I wish sometimes I had those Liverpool statistics teams to help me figure out a couple of things in the matchups, I like predicting upsets but not when it's from a fixed list!

Anyway, balls on you toma to make the picks so early. I doubt my selections would change but you never know before Friday some big news happens like a team loses all strikers;)
11213  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 14, 2020, 07:27:43 AM
Super week for you team captn, nicely done!

To be honest, I didn't expect them to get beaten so badly.

Yeah, Aguero's that kind of quicksilver, prolific over a season but more like supreme in bursts like tonight. When only de Bruyne plays well, that's when they have a chance to slip, but when 2 or 3 players play super, Aston Villa happens. Bad luck with injuries but I actually thought they might have had a tiny sliver of hope. Oh well!

@examplens: Bloody hell 3.2 for Liverpool EPL winner. I could only get just over 2/1 pre-season! Wish I had access to more physical bookies but the one I do here (Toto) is really crap. I do find it strange practice to pay out early though. Could be something to do with insurance and saving on premiums, I dunno.

@Harko: yeah you need a lot of exacts and prizes are only for highest points. I believe LAST season someone in this pool actually got 6 exacts, but didn't win anything cause of course, someone in the Superbru universe got 7 or even 8!
11214  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: January 14, 2020, 06:17:41 AM
@efialtis: SB private poker? Count me in... I have a really poor schedule though so it may have to be DURING EPL games (Except Liverpool I'll be too busy watching!) as I always got my hands and attention totally occupied;) But sign me up anyway, I promise I'll do my best to make it. Met a new special someone, have you?Wink

@EdenHazard: I'll play for fun but of course, I'll step away from the prize, if I win again, which I probably would if I tried =p ... there would be riots =p

@cryptofrka @LFC_Bitcoin: Actually, you guys just gave me something to look forward to one day: watching United lose. Too bad the next Utd visit to Anfield is too soon to plan for!
11215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 67,1% of micro businesses do not know what cryptocurrencies are. on: January 13, 2020, 05:19:12 PM
Not sure why that's a shocker. In general, I do gush a bit about bitcoin, probably more than I should, but I think it's really important to understand the rest of the world (and where microbusinesses are).

>10% of GDP of txs in huge parts of Africa, for example, are made mobile money. They solved their issues a while back, and bitcoin may not yet be a suitable successor, simply because... access. A simple cheap $5 phone gets you mobile money but may not get you bitcoin access.

South and Central America, strangely enough, is a better place to introduce bitcoin and they might actually skip altogether mobile money if so. Plus, now that Lightning is close to fullblown readiness.

Christ bloody hell. Emotional bet on Monaco didn't pan out, but got to say, PSG were super lucky to clamber themselves out of that one. Their first draw of the season but Monaco probably just about deserved to have won that. Also, had no idea Islam Slimani was loaned out to Monaco. What about that third goal to equalise eh?

Israel's unbeaten look like the only "sure" thing today though value's not so great. Parlay this with an upset in Ligue 2
Game 1: MAccabi Tel Aviv vs Beitar Jerusalem. Tel Aviv WIN @1.81. Betcoin odds: 1.82

11217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is not being sold for $24,000 in Iran on: January 13, 2020, 01:06:50 PM
In the event of war, precious metals become even more popular. In this case, it can be expected to increase in bitcoin. But there is a problem. Too many fake news. This fake news may lead to price speculation. You need to be careful.

It's not fake news. Any decent news site is able to massage actual data and information into the truths they prefer. Kind of one of the early things you learn as a reporter -- to report on facts as you hear and see them. And then as a journalist, you derive and analyse and give your bosses, and in this case, the people, the headlines they want.

Go on localbitcoins and see for yourself, in countries with hyperinflation, asking price is always above what official central bank rates are for US dollars. That's because you can't get dollars anywhere but on the black market where "real" local fiat value is established (as opposed to official forex). Corrupt goverment officials benefit from this all the time, borrow in dollars, pay back in local currencies.

Heck I can open a trade asking for $50k, LBC would let me.
11218  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BitcoinNews.com's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 13, 2020, 11:54:12 AM
toke don't really agree about Ings. I always thought he was a fantastic player for us, but he probably thrives a lot more in a more traditional 4-4-2 system. Very British striker (and that's a compliment) but even Sturridge had to adapt to positive press and couldn't... (though I think Klopp was perhaps a wee bit unforgiving to players unwilling to play through pain in Daniel's case). Hassen also likes press but knows he can't rush Southampton into a full-fledged Liverpool template yet). But they're all friends and I've really liked the way Klopp manages players. Probably apart from Sakho (and that's only because I'm not sure), I don't know anyone who's left Liverpool without a smile.

But ah yes, Villa. I was an idiot.
11219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: January 13, 2020, 10:43:19 AM
@Eden. I'm playing every game now, and I just play roulette to win twice on the smallest chip (0.05 mBTC) to "earn" the entry fee for the Multis so I don't feel like I'm losing anything. Yeah, it's idiotic but I guess I'm an idiot hahaha.

@Trofo: I've been 1 away, 2 away and the one time I actually shared with 12 I was stupid and made 2 multi selections (stupid for not reading the rules). This I am 4 away, so definitely worst performance. Even my Monaco pick just managed to draw.
11220  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Weekly Update: Is the BTC bear market over? on: January 13, 2020, 09:35:08 AM
Everything's worth a read, depending on your level of worth;) But anyway, for what my 2 cents are worth: interesting to see some technicals stick around to Bitmex and Binance metrics. Bitmex I've never really been a fan of using, especially since a lot of that doesn't actually require any settlement of actual bitcoin (its volumes are still majority on derivatives, right?). Binance okay, but any exchange that has its own token for discounted fees is a bit suspect in volume for me.

And no, Iran might have done something to gold, but I still think Bitcoin's correlation the past week's coincidence.
