Telegram and Discord didn't exist back when this forum was created, I would bet a lot of crypto activity has moved towards those platforms. The vast majority of new crypto users simply don't care about Bitcoin, they care about making a buck, which means they aren't going to check these forums out and if they are, they likely won't be contributing.

Towards DaveF's point (how I saw this thread) -  I was going to participate until I saw BTC TX fees. All my LTC is tied up in long term storage and I wasn't about to pay Coinbase $2.99 to get some more. That essentially free raffle would have cost users over $150 in Bitcoin TX fees for a $30 silver piece.

yep I myself I encourage LTC and Doge as fees are good.
Although Doge went nuts in price and frozen transactions are now common on the doge blockchains (trezor)
As my signature shows I am more of a multi coin believer as long as the coin is well backed by gear.

I saw Dave's raffle.
I can have some of those pieces I got them from him.
I simply don't do raffles.

No lotto wins for me today.  Did anybody here score a card in the shuffle?

I got selected for the EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 XC3 ULTRA GAMING.

Sorry to hear about your experience Phil.  So it seems we have to jump on it as soon as we are notified we are winners as well.

Here is a reddit thread this has been happening often to others.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Newegg/comments/l2dnqt/winning_newegg_shuffle_does_not_guarantee_being/

I am assuming you got your order in for the gear.

Oh and as a sidebar they just plowed me back in> Angry

good news is one doge transaction went through

https://doge4.trezor.io/tx/92b72c72759066ecb754a3ebca7abb0e2ffbb6f62afd405205af7a1db1804aeb

waiting on this one

https://doge4.trezor.io/tx/9fc2c63fc479d6d64233187a0378711544981291904620b1d23c0fc773c7061f

and decided to try one with a high fee

I know enough to say the trezor doge blockchain is having an issue connecting to the official doge block chain

and of course in true corporate speak they blame the official chain.

I did really well on the doge, but I would offload more if they let me.

400,000 in my wallet and 34,900 floating in cyberspace they should be in this address

https://dogechain.info/address/D7uLQDTQRwy7yNigWaLx8a4rQgExeZajbr . but the official chain is not synching with the trezor chain.

lots of us have spare psu's.

I have  a bitmain apw5 which is very quiet and efficient. I could use it with this.
11265  Other / Meta / Re: Decline of Marketplace activity/trading on: February 02, 2021, 05:22:49 AM
Well the computer/mining goods section no longer has much action for a lot of reasons.

Gpus are unobtainable everywhere unless you over pay by a lot.

So when I listed a new sealed quality gpu at a 100 usd markup.
600 vs 500 no one wanted it.
This could be a sign of a larger issue with the availability of GPU equipment versus demand.

I also stopped most escrow on many deals as making ten dollars on a two hundred dollar escrow is just not worth it. So I do minimum escrow fee of 20 usd . and at a thousand I switch to 2%.

What this does is discourage small sales as no one wants to use paypal and get a charge back.

and no one wants to pay 20 dollars for a 200 dollar escrow.
The USD cost of transaction fees is currently very high, primarily due to the high bitcoin cost. Even without an escrow fee, the cost to send coin to an escrow, and for the escrow to the seller can be high. It may be beneficial if steps were taken to encourage people to use LN, where fees are a small fraction of on-chain transactions.

I wont discuss the boost your points by your trust list as I now don’t give and new feedback with this account.
I use my cellphone account.
I am not sure if you are referring to my trust rating or my merit score. I very rarely trade on here, and my only negative rating is from someone unwilling to discuss said rating. I don't make posts with the intention of receiving a trust review. I put a lot of effort into my posts, which is reflected in the merit I receive, and I send merit to posts I believe that also have a lot of effort put into them.

generic you. not you specifically.

I offer to take ltc and or doge to save on fees. I get some takers now and then.
Basically small miners don’t exist. There were far more back in the day.
11266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: February 02, 2021, 04:51:57 AM
Didn't feel like quoting your chat but did they really LOL at you?  That is certainly a training moment for that representative as that is very unprofessional.

I have yet to "win" the chance to purchase something from the shuffle but the purpose of it is so if you get the chance to purchase it is there for you without worrying about running out and you can purchase at your leisure in the window period.

I would have pressed for a supervisor if it was a combo I wanted.  It's obviously a technical issue as the items are supposed to be put in your cart, a behind the scenes api check to verify you are a shuffle winner and then you place the order.

I don't think the rep understood how this works and he/she was obviously not a professional customer service agent.  If you try to early you can't purchase as it has to be in the "purchase" window period, but I think you were in it if the time stamps were PST.  I would escalate to non-chat customer service if for no other reason than the training moment and the reps "lol" comment.  That's worth a $50 gift card at least.

At least your missing doge was found.

yeah only thing i changed was i deleted my last name.

i have a link that specifically says that the entire point of the shuffle is for this to not happen.

makes me pretty sure they take the stock buy it and still on ebay at the large markups.

the only reason i got the 3090 last week is the mark up on them is too low for them to bother to do it.

Yeah first stuck doge transaction cleared.

waiting for next one to clear.

Well the computer/mining goods section no longer has much action for a lot of reasons.

Gpus are unobtainable everywhere unless you over pay by a lot.

So when I listed a new sealed quality gpu at a 100 usd markup.
600 vs 500 no one wanted it.

Why is that. Must people left here  that would buy gear want bargains. So marking a new sealed 500 card for 600 is not a bargain.

So I am mining with it clearing 4 dollars a day.  Which means in 150 days it is free.

So sellers like myself say fuck it I will just mine with it.
This is true in many ways.
I spent two weeks talking to a new guy with 100-200 k to invest.

I found three decent deals for him and he did not purchase any. why he wants a bargain. Guess what many will simply mine the gear and not care about his need or desire to get a deal.

I also stopped most escrow on many deals as making ten dollars on a two hundred dollar escrow is just not worth it. So I do minimum escrow fee of 20 usd . and at a thousand I switch to 2%.

What this does is discourage small sales as no one wants to use paypal and get a charge back.

I could list more reasons why things are slow.

in mining section the mod deletes and alters posts a lot.
so i post les their many said fuck it I wont post there.

I wont discuss the boost your points by your trust list as I now don’t give and new feedback with this account.
I use my cellphone account.

But frankly most people post on btc to do a signature.
I used to do that. And then give the funds away in my give away but btc was 100 a coin back then it was a different world.
11268  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price correction btc 6-12 months on: February 02, 2021, 04:19:18 AM
Same like you, I believe that bitcoin will be in price correction, but I'm don't know how deep the price drop will. For 8K maybe this is impossible because too deep, but if going down to 10K maybe this is possible although only less chance. But what you think if 2021 will be different, that the real holder will keep hold their bitcoin, will be a different story. So prepare anything

So do a huge short on margin of 10 x and get back to us when and if you do it.

I am planning on 75-100 k by dec 2021.
11269  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Only God knows for how long mining will remain profitable on: February 02, 2021, 04:14:48 AM
I'm planning to build more mining rigs since bitcoin and some altcoins are pretty stable in value right now, I don't see any bear market incoming any time soon, what do you think? Is this a good move? Can make back ROI in just 5-6months

If you are getting new nvidia cards I think it is okay.

my assumption is good price new with three year warranty.
11270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvidia rtx mining on: February 02, 2021, 03:26:14 AM
whats the best miner about just now

Well you can't get them

but nvidia

rates

3060ti
3080
3070
3090

and a 1660 super is okay

The ratings are based on  you get them today with proper MSRP.  which is next to impossible.

I grabbed a 3090 and it is not as good as the others but it was available and at  a 75 dollar higher than Msrp price.

BTC - $33,763+

And Feb 2 is the 32nd day in 2021
and the top 32 BTC prices are all in 2021

so we are 32 for 32
Every price this year is higher than any price at any other year.

If you are mining and the  diff goes sidesways hand in hand with price for 32 more days in a row you will be smiling big time.

Oh Some frozen doge unlocked  for me today sold it at 3 cents.

Looking for more to free up.

No lotto wins for me today.  Did anybody here score a card in the shuffle?

I did but look at this:

Chat Transcript
Newegg Support Chat on 2/01/2021:

Philip 04:23 PM PT I do not understand what happened to the combo it is not in my cart

Philip 04:24 PM PT The email came 44 minutes ago. I have more than 2 hours before time is up.

Ron B. 04:25 PM PT Hi Philip I am sorry to inform you the combo has run out of stock, the shuffle has choose amount of people to purchase the combo, but it is not a guarantee that everyone gets one.

Philip 04:26 PM PT That is not what the email says. it say I have until 7pm pt time it does not mention the stock can run out.

Philip 04:26 PM PT So do you have any 3000 series cards

Philip 04:28 PM PT You should say in the email that the items can run out. I am on east coast and had 20 inches of snow today. I figure I had until 7 pm pt time to buy the items. I would have waited for the email and not dug myself out.

Philip 04:28 PM I can't find anyplace that says the shuffle runs out of stock before the time limits you said in the email

Ron B. 04:29 PM PT I am deeply sorry about this. I am afraid all combos are sold out by now, this is what happened last time.

Philip 04:29 PM PT The email say you must check out before the buying window ends. Hey this is simply wrong.

Philip 04:31 PM PT You really need to write the promo properly . I am not going to be very happy here. I am a 10 year play custom that buys 1000's of dollars in gear every year.

Philip 04:32 PM PT If you wrote proper emails they would state you may run out of stock. I want to see a link that says you can say you sold out.
Philip 04:33 PM PT I know that the advertisement says you don't have to worry about this happening. It make the entire program look like a lie. you look terrible here

Philip 04:33 PM PT Newegg not you sorry abut that.

**Ron B.**04:34 PM PT No I understand, we had this situation last time and I reported it in but it seems they haven't been able to fix it yet, I am truly sorry about this.

Philip 04:34 PM PT I did not need the psu I picked the combo hoping I would win and I did. And now oh we ran out of gear.

Philip 04:34 PM PT Look it is wrong to do this. Is not there any way you can fix it?

Philip 04:35 PM PT What is the sense of running a promo and then saying snag no gpu for you.

Ron B. 04:36 PM PT I am sorry but there isn't anything I can do about the inventory.

Philip 04:37 PM PT Yes you can. I am certain you have a card or two laying around. You already said it was not corrected even though you reported it. So newegg looks terrible here.

Philip 04:39 PM PT I can't believe in all your warehouses every 3060t,i 3070, 3080 is gone. I also and really annoyed that newegg did at least twice to me and some one else.

Philip 04:39 PM PT Even with you reporting the problem.

Philip 04:39 PM PT IS not there a manager or a higher up.

Ron B. 04:41 PM PT LOL our manager can manage agents but they are not in charge of inventories. We are not even to shop on the site, so hidden GPUs is just xD. You think too much of us.

Philip 04:42 PM PT Well Too bad. thank you for your time.

Ron B. 04:42 PM PT I am sorry again, have a nice night and stay safe!

Ron B. 04:43 PM PT Thank you for giving me an opportunity to assist you. Please rate the service I provided to you today via the survey that appears once you close this chat. To end the chat click the "X” at the top-right hand side of the chat window and choose the button that asks you to confirm you want to end the chat. Thank you!

So that is the transcript I edited my last name out.

And my back hurts from the snow. ugg

The evga 3090  model 3987 arrived.  Beast.

Not worth the money, but wtf why not.

I screen shot smos.

it does 115  mh at 300 watts.

it clears about 7 usd a day so 300 days to break even

Nice.  Can you tweak the power down with out losing mhs?

3090's are the easiest 3000's series to get.  I can't justify getting one cause of the power and longer roi.  I see a lot of people getting them when they get frustrated looking for a 3080 and compare the cost to the 3080 resale market.

I Have

 1x 3090
 3x 3080
 1x 3060ti

I am going to drop power by 10 watts.

clock was
core +100
ram +1200
power 300

Hash was 114.41mh

clock now is

core + 100
ram + 1175
power 290

Hash is 114.25

I will let it sit for a few hours

and drop to

core + 100
ram + 1150
power   280

this is giving 113.16mh

11278  Economy / Speculation / Re: At long term — Could 1 sat equals 1 USD? on: February 01, 2021, 09:37:21 PM
last I looked all the money in the world is about 300 to 400 trillion usd.

so lets do inflation and in 20 years that number is 700 to 900 trillion usd.

lets say we are up to 19.5 million BTC in 20 years.

lets say BTC is ½ the worlds wealth it would be 450 trillion / 19.5 million

450,000,000,000,000/19,500,000 = 23,076,923.07 A coin x 0.00000001

23 cents a sat is not impossible in 20 years but I doubt a lot.
11279  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Linzhi Phoenix ETH Miner on: February 01, 2021, 07:42:06 PM
Also as I type the ETH hash rate  is up to 355th which is an all time high.

ETH is paying 7.5 cents an mh so 2600 x 7.5 = $195 a day while burning 80kwatts daily at 20 cents that is 16 USD.

So 195-16 = 179 a day  we are 200 days out maybe 210 days out and this is a brick.

210 x 179 = 37,590 usd

if it takes 60 days to get this and the hash rate climbs you can be underwater on this.

If you get it fast under 10 days it very likely will make money.

Are they going to make 1000 of them 1000 x 2.6 gh  is 2.6 th or a very a small  net work  jump of 355 to 357.6

but if they make 10,000 of them

and innosilicon makes 10,000 of theirs we are at 26th + 9 th or 35th

and don't think bitmain does not have something on the side say 30th of gear.

now we add 26+9+30 = 65th moving network to 420th in 60 days.

Be careful if you buy this.

Great analysis! So my question to you.. is.. if these ASICS are so profitable. Why don't they just build them and mine for themselves? why bother selling them at all? Didn't they just build a money making machine??

If I were them I would be mining with them now.

Dip them in cleaning solutions and sell them as new slowly but surely.

very easy to do that above.
Next the money from the sales I would build some 6.6gb for my business.

So in the next 60 to 90 days all that I have would be sold to buyers.
I would then have all new 6.6 gb for myself.
