Been getting some really good matches right recently, including last night's Inter win (just stupidly pairing bad parlay legs) -- very comprehensive, and puts the nail in Napoli's coffin for sure. I mean, I have fancied them for 2 seasons at least but the way they've been unravelling, there's no way they'll climb back out of their own hole after this game. Shame, shame, shame, if I were a supporter I'd be so depressed.

Oh damn me. Arsenal did win, but they laboured in the first half and probably should have been a goal down at least at HT. Should have made a FT bet, but the 1.9x odds made me blink I guess. Lukaku doing himself justice in Serie A though, I think we can safely say goodbye to Napoli's bid this season. They are not coming back from this loss.

Parlay on cup games is the call of the day. This time, United only 4/1 to beat City? I took it at 10/1 but this is poor value so the Sky Blues get my pick today.

Game 1: Newport County AFC-Milton Keynes Dons. MK Dons WIN @2.44. Sportsbet odds: 2.38
Game 2: Manchester United-Manchester City. City WIN @1.65. Sportbet odds: 1.64
Game 3: Stade De Reims-RC Strasbourg Alsace. Reims WIN @2.29. Sportsbet odds: 2.30
100 units parlay at Betcoin @9.2195. Sportsbet parlay: 8.9773

Running advantage after 217 bets: +2,741.54 (+24.22)

On the same day apparently, some other mofo backtracked on his promise to donate crypto to FreeRoss when he lost a Bitcoin prediction bet. You know, it just confirms all I've ever thought about these crypto influencers. They're all feeding off each other's fame, and we're pouring more meat into the grinder. The irony is few of them are even real Bitcoin users I bet. Just hoarders storing their wealth in some kind of custodial service hoping to make more moneh.

We don't need more proof that these guys can't put their dicks/money where their mouths are... do we?

11264  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Theory (requires criticism) - Bitcoin after free energy disclosure? on: January 07, 2020, 11:09:18 AM
People here say that energy can't be free, but I think it actually can happen, though I doubt it's very likely. Right now air is free because its supply is much higher than demand and its everywhere. Maybe in some super distant future same will happen to energy - scientists will be able to get energy from anti-matter or some other cool stuff so the supply of energy will just explode.

The thing is, even if that scenario comes true (and it won't be for a really, really long time), states or corporations will still need to profit from it, and it'll still be charged to citizens. I mean, hydropower in my state is practically free and in plentiful abundance to the state (other than maintenance and operations) but it still charges for it. We even have to burn off natural gas (flaring), as there's simply too much, but we're still not giving it away for free;)

There are 2 scenario's for Bitcoin (though I doubt that Bitcoin in current form will survive till then):

1. People still sticking to PoW and throwing gigantic amounts of energy into it

2, People switching to PoS or some other algo. Maybe instead of burning energy we'll be able to burn something more rare in a way that can be linked to the network.

But yeah, even with a theoretically limitless amount of energy, people would simply be throwing more computing power into the network. The reward system for miners will still work. But like everyone says, no real use in matching a distant variable with a current one. Bitcoin will be very different when/if that free energy scenario comes true.
11265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Blockchain Classroom] Lesson 17:Blockchain transfers are actually charged by by on: January 07, 2020, 09:34:37 AM
I actually wonder if, before the sat/byte settings now, if it was always based on the size of data, or if it was ever at some point simply based on how much it was? I imagine back in the day, before block sizes reached their limits most of the time, if miners simply looked at actual amount in fees paid rather than effective fee (per byte).

P.S. Should edit your title to say: Bitcoin fees measured by byte, not value. Might make it clearer.
P.P.S. 250 bytes is no longer the common transaction size (it was before SegWit). Even the most conservative estimate sees over 59% of Bitcoin txs are now SegWit. I'm using native segwit and a single input, single out tx is only 110 bytes... though of course, the more common 2 output (including 1 change address) would be 141 bytes. Still a lot smaller than 250!

I actually joined their instagram back when they just launched that promo. Sadly, I'm almost practically non-existent on social media. That IG entry basically resurrected my account after an almost 2 year absence, but since then I've been rather neglectful.

Happy birthday to Bitcasino! I actually don't have an account there so signing up now. Sister site, here I come. Hope you got dice;)
11267  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin pumping because of Tesla boy? on: January 06, 2020, 07:17:08 PM
So an almost 2% overperformance is considered explosive growth these days? What's Bitcoin doing 15% on a regular day then? Mega super explosive?

Musk is the kind of guy who calls people paedos when they're busy rescuing children, donates a million to a treeplanting cause on youtube (instead of to a project actually planting trees) and yeah they've all got to be crazy to be successful, so I don't begrudge them that but what exactly has he got to do with Bitcoin?
11268  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 06, 2020, 05:46:54 PM
2 weeks after handing Milan their worst loss in Serie A for 21 years, Atalanta does it again with another 5 goal spree. Lowest scoring league in Europe, maybe not going to be true in years to come. Now I know they weren't exactly lighting up Champions League but won't be surprised to see them qualify again for the next season.

I got a parlay on Inter later. I want to see them win the league. Sorry Napoli.
11269  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Survey: At What Price would you stop investing more money into Bitcoin ??? on: January 06, 2020, 04:39:58 PM
At what price would you guys stop putting SIGNIFICANT amounts of additional money into purchasing Bitcoin Huh   I am not talking about small investments that you do not care about losing, but stop investing significant amounts of your financial assets that you can not afford to lose.

I am NOT asking if you believe Bitcoin will go down to these prices !!!    I know you guys will say the prices will never get that low, and that you would never sell your bitcoin.. .  OK we understand that  😁     BUT, any rational, intelligent investor will have a price point at which they would stop putting significant additional amounts of money into a particular investment.   Think it over carefully and give us your best, most honest answer.

OK, $3k is way too "high" for most people. And I believe I'm most people because I'm really into cost averaging. We don't have time to speculate, don't have time to time the market (OK I admit it, I do try and time, but it's more a hastening or delay of a week or a few weeks at best), and really we need a day job and have predictable, frequent, regular bills and expenses to pay.

So we really are just setting aside savings in Bitcoin. Some go all in, others like me choose to still keep some in fiat (insured by the bank and state, for what those are worth). But if I HAD significant amounts of additional money like say, if I won a huge lottery?

You bet I'm investing significantly into BTC, at whatever the price. OK, maybe NOT if BTC were in the midst of an ATH... But 100% for sure if it were $3k or $100.

I voted for $1 though.
11270  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going for $8.570 following recent information on: January 06, 2020, 03:08:35 PM
I'm all for self-fulfilling prophecies, and judging from that chart AND the preceding sentiment on social media, it looks like we really could be fulfilling these prophecies all the way to halving in May. I'm not gonna argue really, 8500 is a nice amount to have in January, although I shouldn't really be counting on >60k same time this next year, should I? Won't find me complaining of course!
11271  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: January 06, 2020, 11:35:47 AM
Palace screwed me, since I parlayed Liverpool at incredible odds (2.76!) with West Ham and Palace, but Derby decided to win. Palace losing me a lot of money this season... and they actually play good football! Thank god for City winning me a lot too heh.

And I won another 2-week stretch of parlays on Liverpool wins - Leicester, Wolves, Sheffield and Everton at 4/1... but back then the odds for Everton were 1.4 or something, the danger of doing long parlays including cup games weeks ahead, you never know when they decide to play boys.

Worthy winner, and from an academy product and local lad too! We's dreaming we be!

Oh and if anyone needs reminding what FA Cup magic can look like, watch this, eh? https://twitter.com/swfc/status/1213531792420065281

My Liverpool parlay settled last night and my chat options opened. Maybe it's a $100 wager requirement that refreshes every few months or so? Anyway, all good. Now I have money I didn't have before. Considering another all-in parlay =D

Anyone can enlighten me the difference of outrights and Live & upcoming category in sports betting especially in Basketball, does it mean it is much sooner than future? Because seems like there's much fewer games in Outrights category compare to Live & upcoming.

Does seem to be a weird way to categorise, you'd typically get live and upcoming, but Outrights are fewer is simply that they're basically bets on final outcomes of a competition. For example, I've been betting for the past 3 seasons that Liverpool will win the Champions League -- and you usually can place these bets even before the season starts.

So Outrights for Stake Basketball USA only have 2 competitions: NBA and NCAA.

Funny night, we had to screw ourselves with Palace of course, didn't we? Consolation I suppose is that we didn't pick Spurs who only managed to draw with good old Boro.

At this rate, better off just parlaying Liverpool wins, no matter the competition;)

But let's see. Arsenal Leeds is smelling like an upset, but in any case, Arsenal should win the first half, so let's parlay that with an Inter win at Napoli tonight.

Game 1: Arsenal vs Leeds. Arsenal WIN HT @1.90. Betcoin odds: 1.88
Game 2: Napoli vs Inter Milan. Inter WIN @2.65. Betcoin odds: 2.64

Agree on halving considerations. But I thought this was about us throwing away money frivolously, like it's nothing more than mere glitter crypto for entertainment?Wink

But okay, sure. Personally, I think halving will not have the desired (or expected maybe I mean) impact. Everything's already spread out and priced in over the long term, but hey, what I think is shit, judging from my performance of alts in past 2 rounds.

Be nice to still ping people around and get some er consensus over dates.
11275  Economy / Speculation / Re: New year and forecasts on: January 05, 2020, 07:31:29 PM
It might look good, but all we did is have a minor increase to test the downwards sloping resistance of the descending triangle we're in. We have thus far not managed to close a 4H candle above it, which seems pretty indicative of sellers happily selling that most likely to be top. We will likely see a break before the end of next week. These patterns are bearish so don't be shocked to see the price dump to low $6000's.

Positive note is that we yet again have hit an all time high in hashrate, which could be an indication that miners for now are done dumping and thus there is less selling pressure. In case the descending triangle has a bullish breakout, low $8000's is a realistic next target. We'll see how it goes.

It's pretty strange I got to say, the technicals are really still quite firmly bearish, the 6800 bounce was expected, but we should have seen another serious retest of 7200 support -- which we did not. Also pretty cool seeing Sunday action back to familiar buyer territory, so far, anyway. American east coast is up now and they do seem keen on presenting Tokyo with a 7500 support level from the action I can see going on right now.

ATH hash rate, ATH Segwit, LN starting 2020 strong. All things to challenge TA!
11276  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2019/20 on: January 05, 2020, 05:06:28 PM
tokes yeah, it's refreshing after years (or even a decade?) or two-horse finishes. I'm still hoping for an upset and some glory for Atletico but they've been annoyingly as inconsistent as the current big boys at the top 2. Sevilla, even, just an outlier. Glad I ditched Granada a few games back, although they won today, they were never going to last the marathon.

It's still Barcelona this year, though, because Messi. Hoping Atletico likes the problem of prioritising when we meet in CL in February!

@hilarious: Have a lot of good friends in the UK, but myself only spent 4 months in my 40 years odd life;) I'm Commonwealth, if that means something haha. And magic sponge goddamn, we had the magic oil (it's red, smelly and very "hot" like super eucalyptus) and I think yeah they totally never worked haha.

@cryptofrka it would be great to see the blue and red of Merseyside dominate. We need more working class colours in the top;)
11278  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Market Is Manipulated on: January 05, 2020, 02:50:28 PM
Definitely the market of bitcoin is manipulated by people with enough bitcoin. The entire network of bitcoin is decentralized and anyone can influence the market if the person owns enough bitcoin. It is very difficult to see someone buying 1 bitcoin on an instant. This means if you have 100bitcoins, you can easily determine the market value of bitcoin on a particular exchange platform for weeks.

It really isn't hard at all. The wonders of a public blockchain will show you that every 10 minutes or so (every block, rather), there's a transaction of 1 or more BTC for sure.

I'm not saying a lot of us do it a lot of the time, but it's easy enough to find if you look for it.

But 100 BTC? You can't do shit with the market on 1 platform for 1 hour, never mind weeks! Have you taken a look recently at daily volumes on a liquid platform?

This section of the forum is one of the most active and helpful places, and it's good to see people getting their dues. May your selfish wish come true for us all.
