I know i was i imagine anyone else running in the 300 and under mhash range is done as well if they are paying for their power. It basically cut my daily profits in half. I wish others luck but i feel like you remove the hobbyist and small timers so early in its development you remove a lot of interest in the coins just how this works i guess.
Eh, Im only mining with 80mh/s, parents pay for power though, so any money earned is good money earned. Until they find out. Then they will kill you. Meh, dads the one that leaves the computer on of a night, so I'll just blame it on that  |

Ok, I see, I put it in Applications and now it opened up in Terminal with your command, but it doesn't seem to be looking any better. Still says 1 connection, and number of blocks still the same. Also, can't click on generate now because it's opened from Terminal. Anything else I should be doing? Thanks!!
Don't click on generate on the bitcoin client, that miner is greatly outdated and only uses the CPU, get a proper GPU miner for mac. |

Hello-
I recently pooped my two 5830's in my box.
I did not crossfire them, and when i begin to mine they both put out around 255.5 M/Hs
if I wait a couple of seconds the second card will drop down to 150 M/H's
I am using windows 7 64 bit

Try with poclbm first, run one on the first GPU, wait 10 minutes and and then run another one on the second GPU, wait a few and then see if it drops, try playing with -f and -w. |

So when one person in China finds block number 700000, how is the p2p lag between china and america dealt with such that someone in Texas stops working on that 700000'th block and moves on to the next one in the series?
Or does it even matter?
If it doesn't matter, and only based on local difficulty in the p2p network, then are there situations where there are pockets of lower difficulty in the p2p network where some people can still mine for coins easier than someone on the other side of the world?
The first person the network successfully confirms as completing the block, gets the 50 coins. So if china finishes a block 2 minutes before the USA, but there is 5 minutes lag time between the network, the USA will get the 50 coins (or the person who finished the block). |

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help. I am running Bitcoin on a Mac, I have 1 connection and around 700 khash/s.
I have tried to receive bitcoin 2x in two separate transactions to two separate addresses and they don't show up, even after hours. I am sure the sender sent the bitcoins already, and the addresses were the ones supplied by the program, I just did copy/paste.
The program says 126428 blocks, 0 transactions.
I am generating.
Anyone have any ideas what is going wrong?

The current block count is 127079 according to blockexplorer, so try disabling any firewalls (if not, restart your router) and if that doesn't work, delete all the blocks you've downloaded and try again (ONLY the blocks, not your wallet, else you will lose your money) and try redownloading them, they mightave become corrupted or something  PM me if you need any help. |

Not so different to MD5 if anyone else is wondering. exactly like MD5. MD5 is a hash function and a popular one. it's not suitable for security use anymore (collisions can be found), though it's just fine for corruption detection. We just use SHA-256 instead, which is far stronger and should remain so for the foreseeable future. Yeah, I was just saying that MD5 uses the avalanche effect aswell. |

Buying and selling Bitcoin is definitely the best way to make money here, although still a gamble. I wish I had put my mining investment into that from the very start. I've got one more week to go before the hardware is paid for (price per BTC being $7), and that counts the 70% difficulty increase forecast for tonight.
Re taxes: if you sell the BTC and withdraw the money made, you have to declare that as income. Well, you do in the UK.

No, everyone is working on the same block at the same time, it's just the first person to finish it gets the 50 coins, (if it's a pool, then it gets split up).
AFAIK anyway.

Probably Visual Studio 2010, supports C#, VB, C, C++ and a stack of others, there are free express versions aswell.
