I don't understand...nothings changed since KGW, why the big freakout?

there is no freakout, there's just a few sock puppets trolling on the expense of a discussion that occured here earlier about the block halving and total amount of coin.
I'll probably get flamed for saying they are trols. but I can't really bother.

probably from another coin or trying to get real cheap coins.

They're getting their cheap coins now.   Undecided

My guess is KDC will be back in the mid 6000's by suppertime.

 Grin

You all wanted buy support?  Well there ya go.  EVERYBODY wants the "cheap" KDC now!  Go you day-trading thugs!  Go fight over who buys it cheapest!  Go go go!

It's fun watching both sides trying to manipulate the market.

hi,

First Off everyone needs to calm down a d stop thee flaming, constant raging in the thread is not going to invite new people in and is what really kills off a coin.

We have discussed your points and will not be forking the coin, why?

- the reduction in minted coins being out on the market would likely be countered by the dumping of existing coins

- the drop in price is not just caused by a flood of minted coins, some crazy dumps are going on at the moment with btc.

- there are plenty of new coins out there wirh quick rductions in block rewards, our 3 month halving is quick, its a goldrush Smiley with further adoption through merchant services we can keep a steady price and see rises in value as the reward halves. We have to keep mining viable until the coin is transacted more

What we are going to do

Offer a service where we will host an open cart store for trusted members to sell whatever they like (has to be legal) through and accept kdc for payment. The products have to be bought by you and the kdc you make is all yours, we just host it.

Increase the offerings on the game store

Start offering Amazon and other gift cards

Redesign the website

Launch community initiatives - put up projects for you guys to complete and put up bountys for their completion

Continue to push on with the FB app

The roadmap will be updated in the coming days along with further details about the open cart store offering and how you can apply

Excellent.  I'm definitely interested in the bolded.  Will it be capable of handling reoccurring subscription payments?

Also bravo for sticking to your design plans.

I guarantee everyone if the devs reduce the block rewards to 25 coins every ten minutes we will hit 20,000 by the end of the day and it will stay there this time and keep climbing.

You're basically saying turn KDC into a clone of Catcoin (though with an even smaller block reward).

Today's exchange volume for CAT across its primary exchanges:  11,295 CAT (or roughly 5 BTC)

Today's exchange volume for KDC across its primary exchanges:  169,843 KDC (or roughly 10 BTC)

Just by those metrics alone, I'd say KlondikeCoin is arguably the more successful coin as it is.  And once again, Catcoin has been "fixed" a couple of times already.  All your proposed fix would do is make the current KDC holders "rich" and leave a lot of pissed off new KDC coin holders, and drive off miners completely.

So what is your solution then?

Don't say website/gamestore/blabla, that won't work.

If you hit Cryptsy everyone will dump at once and it's bye bye for sure.

I already sold my coins and am completely out KDC at break-even-ish, so I have no agenda anymore. Other then to be amazed by your answer as to how to solve this.

That's the only way it DOES work.  There needs to be a reason for the coin to exist.  If speculators aren't going to drive the coin themselves (which lets face it, the only ones asking for block changes ARE the speculators so that they can make a quick buck and move out), then something else has to.  What spiked BTC?  I'm not saying KDC needs a silk road, but it's what drove mainstream use.  It took off from there.

Hate to say it, but just like every other coin out there, KlondikeCoin is just a coin.  Without the community bringing reasons to use it, it's going to go no where just like every other coin in the long run.  The dev can't fix that.

For what it's worth, I will be offering a service that will accept KDC payment as soon as I get an automated front end for it set up.  I'm not ready to formally announce anything since I have a lot more work to do and not a lot of spare time to work on it, but I'm doing what I can.

The only chance we have is to re-launch the coin with a fork.  Advertise it among the KDC community.  It will initially take a nose-dive in Hashing because the profitability will go down so much.  When the price falls people will start scooping them up and guess what?  There will be no sellers because it is too difficult to mine.  Then guess what happens?  The price begins to rise slowly to match the difficulty because there is no supply.  DUH!!

And then what?

The current bag holders sell off with the new price spike creating a whole new set of bag holders.  A couple months from now we're right back where we are right now with a different set of voices complaining about the very same issues, asking for another fork so they can get their quick fix and sell out to a brand new set of bag holders.

Why don't we just cut the problem off at the knees and ask the dev to fork the block target to a 0 coin payout.  One knee-jerk reaction to fix them all!
1147  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT] Klondike Coin, Join the Goldrush! ★Kimotos Gravity★ [Coinedup!] on: February 10, 2014, 07:03:48 PM
I ran the numbers on some of the other newer coins to compare the value of new coins released per day (values converted to btc)

Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the concerns from the members that think an absurd amount of new coins are being minted every day.

KDC: 110k coins @ 0.000055btc = 6.05btc / day
DOGE: 720million coins @ 0.00000198 = 1427btc / day
MEOW: 14.544million coins @ 0.00000033 = 47btc / day
CAT: 7200 coins @ 0.0003568btc = 2.56btc / day
USDe: 6.2million coins @ 0.00000125 = 7.75btc / day
Noble: 7.2million coins @ 0.00000115 = 8.27btc / day
TIPS: 3.6billion @ 0.00000001 = 36btc / day
VERT: 28.8k @ 0.005639 = 162btc / day

I ran these calculations fairly quickly so if someone wants to double check my numbers feel free.

**Note for CAT** I may have missed something on that number. They claim in their post that 7200 coins are released per day but that would mean they should have about 400k in circulation at this point when in reality they have over a million coins in circulation. Not sure what is causing the discrepancy.

Catcoin has been forked at least twice.  You can see exactly how well that has worked out.

It doesn't really matter how many coins per day or what percentage there is... it really only matters what you can do with them.  Mining 1 coin worth 1,000,000 satoshis or 1,000,000 coins worth 1 satoshi, it really doesn't make a damn bit of difference.  And that's what matters - as far as Klondike goes it still is one of the MOST profitable coins out there and has been since it has been introduced - consistently in the top ten in daily profitability for mining per megahash.

No, you are not right.

It is only profitable if you are mining!
A lot of the trades are done by people who are NOT MINING. They see a lot of value evaporate through inflation.

That's what's really the matter with most of the PoW coins: people only care about profitability of mining, but they tend to forget that they are very likely selling to people who do not mine!

Why do you think the amount of oil pumped up is being controlled and regulated by the cmpanies? That's to prevent that the prices will drop.
There has to be a balance in profitability for miners and for buyers (look at them as investors who also want to make a profit).

If you haven't been following along, KlondikeCoin has dipped into the sub-6000 range several times since launch, and rebounded into the 9000 range several times since launch as well.  Tell me exactly how coin investors wouldn't possibly be loving this coin getting multiple 30-40% gains over the course of a couple months as well?

To date, KlondkideCoin has been one of the most ideal coins out there.  The only thing it's seriously lacking is community support in terms of vendors and sponsors.  I'll say it until I'm blue in the face y'all:  The dev ain't responsible for making that happen.  YOU ARE.
1150  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT] Klondike Coin, Join the Goldrush! ★Kimotos Gravity★ [Coinedup!] on: February 10, 2014, 05:04:11 AM

If i'm not mistaken then ONLY 110880 coins are being mine every day, that is at current level ONLY 7.76BTC!!! This is NOT a lot when you compare it to other coins...

For those that think 110,880 coins per day is a lot.

     14,400 HBN
     28,800 LTC
     48,000 ICN
    110,880 KDC
    152,279 WDC
  1,440,000 USDe
 11,520,000 DGB
 14,400,000 EAC
720,000,000 DOGE

the number mined per day compared to the total coins.... its still a LOT!!!
0.00012% per day HBN
0.00034% per day LTC
0.00555% per day KDC
0.0009%  per day USDe
0.00054% per day DGB
0.00106% per day EAC

Spot on
Look at the ratio

It doesn't really matter how many coins per day or what percentage there is... it really only matters what you can do with them.  Mining 1 coin worth 1,000,000 satoshis or 1,000,000 coins worth 1 satoshi, it really doesn't make a damn bit of difference.  And that's what matters - as far as Klondike goes it still is one of the MOST profitable coins out there and has been since it has been introduced - consistently in the top ten in daily profitability for mining per megahash.

WHAT NO ONE IS GETTING HERE IS THAT THIS COIN DILUTES WAY TOO MUCH, this is what needs to be fixed, the community is great, the devs are great, rodemap seems great but the coin is just way to easy to mine. MINERS(holders) cant keep up with the rate of coins being minted and then DUMPED thats the problem here. other than that everything is GREAT.
telling your friends cause as soon as you tell them then a day passes another 110k coins are minted yet again and then dumped into the market causing it to lower in price, and its gonna be like that till it halves 2X... thats the only issue this coin has.. the devs need to fix this.

I don't understand your statement here... When you check coinwarz.com then we are more difficult to mine then Digibyte, USDe, Doge... we are just in a bearmarket, it is not KDC alone. USDe was trading above 500, my cryptsy account has crashed by 30%, so meaning that on average ALL altcoins are lower by 30%

If i'm not mistaken then ONLY 110880 coins are being mine every day, that is at current level ONLY 7.76BTC!!! This is NOT a lot when you compare it to other coins...

http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

In your scenario what will happen, is that big bag holders will sell their coins when they notice the price doubled(or more) because of a new structure, so a lot of selling pressure will happen. I know at least a few people with a total amount of 300K that will press the sell button, believe me...Now big bag holders (including me) are buying coins, not for 7.76BTCs, but we are buying. If structure will change then we will lose the possibility that multipool owners are mining at KDC, because we will fall lower on coinwarz, we lost the big bag holders as everybody will press the sell button and price will drop to 7000 again or even lower.

New miners will not enter KDC because they can only mine a few coins, and will mine DOGE, USDE,... meaning KDC will be dead in a few months.

Anyway, DEV will come back to use with their view. And what they decide is what will happen...

Thank you.  I've been trying to point this out for the last few pages but nobody wants to hear it.  Hopefully you described it more plainly so people actually understand it better and realize there's nothing about the coin that needs to be "fixed" at this point.  Any short term fix is simply a long term loss for the coin.
1152  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT] Klondike Coin, Join the Goldrush! ★Kimotos Gravity★ [Coinedup!] on: February 09, 2014, 06:25:43 PM
I'd prefer the reduction of block size through a fork. Otherwise KDC will just become worthless.

KDC is only as worthless as the community allows it to be, not what the block size gives you.

The community needs to step up and give reasons to USE KDC in the wild to give it more value.  Just mining it and converting it to BTC like just about everybody is doing now is what makes it useless/worthless.

If you want the coin to grow and gain traction with more buy support from the outside world, you guys are responsible for making that happen... not the dev through artificial means that are just going to fail over a short amount of time without a proper ecosystem for the coin to support it in the long run.

Dev, can you please give a update... KDC Lottery - Released Jan. 31ste 2014, is that finished?

Hi,

with the extra time the Facebook app is taking we haven't gotten around to the lotto script as we felt it was a lower priority. The roadmap will be shortly updated to reflect this.

With regards to an earlier block halving or some update to lower the flow of coins - this is something in discussion between the devs and we are working on ideas to combat the saturation of the market Cheesy

Stay tuned Cheesy

Please consider 5coins/block or below with the new fork. see with lower supply 1coin/block RPC achieved above $1 mark already. with the fair launch and no-premine we can achieve much higher than RPC with lower supply.

+1 RPC is trading at around $7 and with 1Gh net hashrate. Coin seems very healthy... Higher prices mean everyone is happy, KDC gets picked up by cryptsy, and we all benefit. Do nothing and this coin never gain any traction other than mine and dump. Thank you Gutshot for actually taking the time to research and identify the problem.

Can't help the uninformed.

RonPaulCoin is MINING at about HALF the value of KlondikeCoin right now.  That means the current supply of KDC is worth nearly 2x as much as RPC in terms of BTC exchange rate.

You all are way too hung up on per-coin values rather than realizing that KDC is far more healthy than most of the other coins out there right now.

That the price of our coin is going down, is normal, look at other coins!!!All prices are going down!!!Of course i want lwoer coins and faster block halvering as this will make me earn more money, but is this fair against new miners? I don't think so. KDC had a structure in the beginning and they need to keep this structure, that is my opinion. I believe Kitteh reduced the number of coins too and this indeed help their coin price. So i'm talking to my own wallet here, but i don't find it fair against new miners. KDC have a nice hashrate and when you check that people earn less then $8 per 1000kh/s then we are certainly not expensive, infact our coin price is to low and meaning cheap, market will automatically reflex the price at a certain moment in time, only a few days ago we were trading at 16000, dev cannot change anytime when something goes bad to the coin price.

Not sure if you've been keeping up, but NO coin right now is doing any better than Klondike.  In fact every coin is under stress right now, especially with what's going on with BTC as a whole.  Klondike has been in the top 10 for profitability for the last month straight.

KDC price going down?  It's gone down before.  Several times.  It's also gone up several times.  It will do so several more times, just like every other coin out there.

Read what I said about Catcoin again.  Tinkering with the block is only a bandaid.  The only thing is will possibly serve to do is allow the major stakeholders get get a quick pump and get the hell out of dodge at a profit.  Once they're out, we'll have a whole new set of bag holders bitching for yet a whole new quick fix.

Block fixes are NOT a long term solution, especially to an already stable coin like Klondike.

The dev shouldn't have to fix an already stable coin.  If the community wants the coin to become more valuable - the COMMUNITY should do something about it.  YOU all need to make the coin worth something instead of sitting there with your thumbs up your asses waiting for someone to give you a way to cash out for a profit.

*Disclaimer: I hold a stake in KDC, and I am a KDC pool operator.  Would a "quick fix" benefit me?  Yes.  Obviously, I don't want to see that because it means a long term failure for the coin.

Not to be a jerk to any of the current KDC holders, especially the ones that have been working to prop the price up with their own resources, but I honestly hope that the dev doesn't make any changes to the block structure of the coin.

Think about it... this is one of the few coins that since release hasn't required a fork or design change (other than gravity, which honestly wasn't so much a structural change at all).  That says a lot about the coin itself.  It has seen its highs, it has seen its lows, but Klondike is STILL here.  It's STILL a rather valuable coin just based on its own merits.

For comparison's sake, look at catcoin.  Super popular, got smashed to oblivion by "fix" after "fix" after it fell off the map.  Each "fix" came, followed by a brief small surge is value, followed by a dump, followed by the coin value dropping to the proverbial shitter again.

The coin needs services, the coin needs to be on some of the more popular exchanges, the coin needs better promotion.

I urge the dev and the community to strongly consider the actions of a "quick fix" to Klondike Coin.  The only people I can see really clamoring for it are going to be the large stakeholders so that they can cash out quickly at a profit and then move on.  This is exactly what Klondike doesn't need.

To be honest, I was sort of hoping KDC wouldn't make it to a site like coinwarz.  It's a double-edges sword of sorts... the exposure is nice, but now we're at the mercy of the likes of middlecoin (despite kimoto's).

It will mean more KDC on exchanges, but also higher difficulty. Hm.

Oh look, an extra 200MH/s network hashrate in the last half hour.  I wonder why that happened?

I'd be okay with all the extra miners, however none of them seem to be hitting kdc.poolminewith.us. Sad
