11401  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICO new way for companies to sell Shares to investors or a new way of Scam? on: December 31, 2018, 11:12:49 PM
To my understanding company do ICo  to raise funds to start up their project !! But many most project listed their token on exchange after the ICO and forget about the mean project  and got away with investors money  . Why all this is happen  ?

This happens, mostly because there is no regulations and smartcontracts aren't still used in a way to protect investors.

Daico, for example, theoretically would allow companies to withdrawal money from the ico only when they have completed certain parts of the roadmap.

Regulations can still protect investors...

On the other hand there are many honest people out there, really working with the money raised on the Ico

So, ico are both : new way to sell shares, and new way to scam.
11402  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The danger is the addiction, not the odds on: December 31, 2018, 10:43:07 PM
I agree. The addiction is the problem.

You can keep an small amount of money for gambling and whatever happens to that money, you will be ok. The problem with the addiction is that when the addicted lose that small amount of money, he may invest even more. Then if he loses, he will "need" to gamble again to recover heia losses... In a no end circle..

Gamble safety, with the amount of money you can afford to lose.

11404  Economy / Reputation / Re: Fix trust rating on: December 31, 2018, 09:17:27 PM
I have a negative trust rating, despite the fact I have never traded

How is this possible?  It seems like an abuse to me. Also I have no idea who gave me this negative rating; although I suspect that I was given this negative trust rating from psychotic users after I asked for a loan and they accused me(with zero proof) of trying to scam users (which I wasn't and as result of their abuse did not seek a loan anymore) and also I've seen many other newbies attacked when they asked for loans no matter how small or how much collateral they provide.

I find this very unfortunate and as result now I don't really want to use bitcointalk. I have participated alot after I started the account and one topic I started has over 150 replies and over 1000 views.  But I don't want to participate when I have a big smear on my username and one unfairly added.

I hope this is fixed.

You didn't trade, but you tried to do a suspicious activity. As a newbie, offering to receive 0.1 BTC will likely result in a scam. Why didn't you asked for a smaller value, or waited until you made some deals to make this big loan?

You have two main options.

-continue using the forum, trying to rebuild and fix your reputation.
-leave the forum.
11405  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum hardfork - what you need to know! on: December 31, 2018, 03:16:45 PM
Judging from the GitHub repo, I don't see anything new from ETCV. They just forked the code from ETH repo, and then that's that. At this moment, I believe ETCV will not worth anything. So many fake and scammy hardfork lately.

Usually most forks aren't worth anything. They manage to have some value in the first weeks (because of some marketing) and they just go to zero after a few months. Even bcash is in that direction...
11406  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Get ready for Ledger Nano S firmware update to 1.5 - January! on: December 31, 2018, 01:58:00 PM
The most important part of these updates is the support for new currencies, especially forks.

With so many forks going on, ledger should support at least the most valuable ones.

Will it support the new ethereum classic vision fork?
11407  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin exchange on: December 31, 2018, 12:48:29 PM
One of the most reliable exchanges is binance.com
However they do not accept Fiat deposits.

So you need an exchange that have a Fiat pair. You need to look for a local exchange so you can trade your Fiat (USD for examples)for Bitcoin. Where are you from?

This is a very important question to determine which exchange you should use.
11408  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Use Case of cryptocurrencies on: December 31, 2018, 12:38:50 PM
How proficient and effective can the usage of cryptocurrencies be in the next decade?

Very.

I read on someone's Twitter that Bitcoin allowed everyone to make transfers that banks say you can't make.

I think it was a good definition, and an answer to your question.
11409  Economy / Gambling / Re: Online Casinos that are blockchain based will have an advantage over those that on: December 31, 2018, 12:15:26 PM
I agree.
There are many advantages using Blockchain based casinos.

-players from anywhere in the world can play any blockchain based casino.
-no worries about bureaucracy when making transfers, deposit and withdrawal.
- Blockchain transfers are  then Fiat transfers
- privacy. Gambling using Fiat currencies also protect your identity in most cases
- fast and zero bureaucracy.
11410  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum hardfork - what you need to know! on: December 31, 2018, 11:13:40 AM

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089443.0

11411  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proof of Capacity as a replacement for Proof of Work. on: December 31, 2018, 10:51:12 AM
You just want clicks in your video, or do you want a discussion?

I hate those posts that have zero information and just a link. Why don't you write a few words about it?
Hardly any veteran user is going to open this link to discuss anything...
11412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: am I wrong ??? on: December 31, 2018, 10:47:21 AM
When I started to think with myself a little  ... I asked what would guarantee the survival of the tokens with who would participate in the bounty campaign???
...
So... am i wrong Huh

Yes , you are wrong.

Without demand, the price of any token is going to zero.

If the token is useless, no working product, like most of the coins out there, nothing can give value to the coin.

Bounty campaign even increases the availability of the coins, reducing even further the price...

So, choose your bounties carefully. Look for tokens with good ideas , nice managers , ... They are rare, but they exist
11413  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: For those thinking some bets are safe, read this on: December 31, 2018, 10:07:23 AM
Of course, there is nothing as a safe bet. There are low risk bets, which is the case however.

But even if the risk is low, things may go different than you expected and you may lose money. That's why it is important not to gamble more than you can afford to lose.
11414  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Question about finding a block on: December 31, 2018, 09:44:17 AM
Not sure i understand this but would be grateful if someone could help.

This is what I understand.

1.Finding a block means guessing a number.

Kind of, but not exactly.

Miners do not find a block.
To create a new block, they need to solve a cryptographic algorithm called Proof of Work.

PoW can only be solved by finding a number that when combined with block data and hashed generates another number that is smaller to the target (determined by PoW).

When a miner finds that number, a new block is created , not found.

11417  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: newbie need help on: December 30, 2018, 11:33:47 PM
can anyone explain what the buy or sell price example 0.0008754 in dummy terms what it is and what it represents and how to do the math. i am like days in this and figured most im just not sure how to do the math cause i dont know what the price fraction mean or represent . at the time of writing this EOS/BTC is 0.0006835  $2.62 sometimes green sometimes red i know what the colors means i know what the value means $2.62 usd figure for 1 EOS coin unless thats wrong but cant understand how the math works on the 0.0006835 and what this is for or what it represents. any help will be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

The  0.0006835 means the value in BTC terms per EOS. So you are looking at the EOS/BTC trading pair.
0.0006835 BTC = 2.62 dollar, so that matches the dollar price which is displayed.

Exactly that.

You can't buy, as far as I know, USD/eos or any other Fiat / eos. So you need to buy BTC first, so them you can buy eos using this rate you said (0.0006)...

So go, buy BTC and then buy eos with it (if that's what you want)
11418  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum hardfork - what you need to know! on: December 30, 2018, 09:39:31 PM

No free coins!

There is another supposed ethereum hard fork, ETCV on January 11 too and there will be splitting of coins and eth holders will receive 3 new forked coins for each ethereum they hold.
https://cryptocalendar.pro/event/7627

I hope those coins are worth at least something, so I can dump them to reduce the weight of my ethereum bags lol

Ethereum suffered a lot in this bear Market
11419  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitfinex usd converting scam ! on: December 30, 2018, 12:04:03 PM
due the difference in market it was not profitable at moment, if i ve done it as you said it will be a lose at similar value.

3-4% are really huge fees... sadly it's common in our ecosystem...
That's how they make toons of money at our expenses.

11420  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Tasks for Bitcoin??? on: December 29, 2018, 10:16:03 AM
Trading is certainly a good tip.

You can also try to keep an eye on services board , games and rounds and gambling boards.

Often some websites gives you small amounts to test their websites and services, or to gamble, etc. You can earn a few bucks that way.
