Finally Bitstamp is back, was about time.

People are very excited, price may see a short bump.

11443  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A theft solution? on: January 09, 2015, 03:03:56 PM
If that's the address of the thief, then he most likely will mix the coins at some point before spending them.

Banning certain mixers won't help as there are exchanges/services/sites, etc, that can help you to get rid of dirty coins and get clean coins or fiat in return.

11444  Economy / Speculation / Re: The lower the price the worse for Bitcoin? on: January 09, 2015, 02:59:01 PM
In current state price and Bitcoin as technology are well connected to a certain extent. And that's how it should be.

A decent price gives new and current miners more confidence in buying (more) equipment to start/continue mining when they think they are able to get something back.

Bitcoin as technology is solid, and that won't change because the price keeps going down.

For investors price is very important, but that's their problem.
11445  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many coins does Bitstamp have under their control? on: January 08, 2015, 12:54:50 PM
They said they keep 10-15% in hot storage.

So...at least 180,000 bitcoins.

I think 180,000 coins is quite a low number for such a large exchange.

Especially when there are plenty of large traders with at least 2,000+ Bitcoins.

"As of 13:00 CEST 24/05/2014, Bitstamp held 183,497.40310794 BTC in their cold wallet."

http://www.coindesk.com/bitstamp-passes-audit-overseen-bitcoin-developer-mike-hearn/

I already knew that.

Still I think it's quite a low number of coins for such a large exchange.

The 30K whale had nearly 17% of their total coin holdings.

11448  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Gox to be blamed? on: January 08, 2015, 12:40:24 PM
Many people blame gox for their manipulation when Bitcoin reached over $1000.

But people must look in the mirror and admit that they bought in at a horrible moment.

Doing a bit research and reviewing the current market would have prevented people from buying Bitcoin over $1000.

Thank you for another payment.

Left you positive feedback.
11450  Economy / Speculation / Re: Does $280 makes you hope again? on: January 07, 2015, 12:31:06 PM
Enjoy the roller coaster as it is, for now.

If it crash to $200 will that be a problem for me? No. I'll buy plenty of coins.

Use these fluctuations in your advantage while you can. Scoop up as many coins as you can.
11451  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's your action once Bitstamp reopens? on: January 07, 2015, 12:23:20 PM
I have a USD balance and some coins there.

I will just log-in and see if everything is ok, and then log-out again.
11452  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are Vitaly's pranks staged?? on: January 06, 2015, 10:04:15 PM
The more popular pranksters get, the more I think some of their pranks are staged.

Search on youtube for edbassmaster that dude is amazing, his pranks are, what I think, all real.
11453  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitstamp most likely will buy back the bitcoins they lost on: January 06, 2015, 09:57:59 PM
No one knows what kind of Bitcoin reserves Bitstamp has, perhaps they can compensate the coins that they lost with their own coins.

Bitstamp is a more than decent exchange, it will sort everything out after investigation.
11454  Economy / Speculation / Re: Did we finally reach the bottom? on: January 06, 2015, 09:49:46 PM
Everyone think to know where the bottom is, but at the end it surprises many of us time on time again.  Grin

Let's see what happens with the price when Bitstamp resumes trading, that's what people are waiting for now.

11455  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are cryptocurrencies the future? on: January 06, 2015, 09:42:58 PM
Max Keiser is only supporting something for his own benefit.

Several banks have already said that the technology behind Bitcoin is something that can change how we do payments.

It's the blockchain that they are interested in, not so much Bitcoin as coin.
11456  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin should modify to POW + POS ? █████ Poll █████ on: January 05, 2015, 02:57:06 PM
Definite YES.

You don't let some miner from China control your personal finance, why let miners control your Bitcoin network? Bitcoin stakeholders should be the controller of Bitcoin network, not some random profit crazy mining farm from China. The PoW miner's only intention and purpose is to extract value out of Bitcoin eco-system.

Large mining farms all over the world are only heavily invested in hardware to do exact the same thing. It's not only China.

Changing something that Satoshi have created with a purpose is not a great idea.
11457  Economy / Speculation / Re: January 5th - Just bought 20 coins @ $277 on: January 05, 2015, 02:45:17 PM
Glad I had USD balance in my exchange account. I managed to grab some coins too.

I'm not planning to sell them for anything below $400.

11459  Economy / Speculation / Re: If you have coins trapped on Bitstamp and want to get them out, do this on: January 05, 2015, 01:34:21 PM
I have my trading coins in my Bitstamp account, and a fiat balance.

I'm sure Bitstamp will make sure no one will lose a single satoshi.
11460  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitstamp issues statement and temporarily suspends service on: January 05, 2015, 01:07:01 PM
