11521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's Central Bank planning Fraud coin on: August 13, 2019, 03:58:50 PM
Why do you call it Fraud coin? In my opinion this is a great idea and China is doing the right thing

Why do you think it's a good idea? How do you think would the new "coin" benefit the people of China compared to just using CNY? China having their own coin is just going to increase their surveillance and control, which is almost never a good thing for the people.
11522  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to find bitcoin sellers in australia who are vouged for? on: August 13, 2019, 02:36:04 PM
Localbitcoins (which was the best option) removed in-person cash trades two months ago so you're left with either Mycelium's local trader or Hodlhodl.

Alternatively, you could use local.bitcoin.com where you buy BCH in person and try trade it for BTC using an online exchange.

Alternatively, try looking for Facebook groups that consists of people in your city that buys and sells bitcoin. Always make sure to transact in a well secured area like a mall or a bank. If you can, try bringing a few friends with you juuuust to be sure you have buddies around when something bad happens. Remember, money is involved.

So I just checked out Litecoin forks just solely due to curiosity and...

...that's enough internet for today.

  • BitCoin Transferred are Irreversible

I suggest being a bit more specific on this part, that confirmed transactions are irreversible. People might misunderstand this and think that even unconfirmed transactions are irreversible, but in fact unconfirmed transactions can be double spent to somewhat reverse the transaction.

For one, companies can only pay cryptocurrency to employees working under official employment agreements. Payments also have to be for a fixed amount – “the value of the crypto-asset is pegged to one or more fiat currencies.”

So that narrows it down from the top 10 currencies to...tether Tongue
Bitcoin can't qualify for this as its value is by no means pegged to any fiat currency.

Is that really what that means? I read the article and thought that the base salary had to be pegged to a fiat value, not the crypto itself. This would make sense as it protects employees from downswings. It's a ridiculous ruling otherwise.

Though I wasn't 100% sure, this was my understanding too. I mean, it would be weird for them to be mentioning bitcoin then suddenly only allowing the acceptance of pegged cryptocurrencies. Pretty much the wages are still "pegged" in a certain fiat amount, just converted to bitcoin at that moment when the wages are going to be paid.
11526  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best wallet for crypto noobies? on: August 13, 2019, 05:18:54 AM
Thank you for your answer.
In my school, I'm taking an economy class right now and we learned about stocks and etc, so for crypto currencies, I wanted to try where you buy at low price and resell at higher value.
I guess I gotta wait 5 more months lol
For stocks too I have to be 18 or older. Sad

Like I said on my previous reply, you can try non-custodial exchanges like Bisq for you to buy coins without needing identification. Or if you can, try looking for buyers and sellers in your city. That way, you can still buy and sell coins, just a bit harder because you can't simply buy and sell instantly like you could with Coinbase.

By the way, try Abra.com. I really can't find information about age requirements so you could probably try to buy using their service. Probably not as good as Coinbase, but it's a decent alternative if you ask me.
11527  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is the best wallet for crypto noobies? on: August 13, 2019, 04:57:38 AM
You need to get this clear though. Are you looking for a wallet or an exchange? Because if you're going to buy and sell the coins pretty frequently and you're not planning on holding the coins as for speculation, then an exchange like Coinbase would probably fit you best. Also, what do you mean by "I want to buy and sell cryptocurrency?". Do you mean you're going to buy and sell to people in your local area? Or were you referring to day trading?

You really don't expect something with little to no fees though, the best you can do is to minimize the fees by using something like Coinbase Pro, Coinbase's spot exchange(the exchange with charts and stuff).

The "best" exchange to use for you really depends on what country you're in though. But if Coinbase allows users from your country, then it's probably your best bet. Though I'm really not sure if they have an age requirement.

If you want to read more concerning wallets:

EDIT: Yep. Coinbase requires you to be at least 18.

From https://www.coinbase.com/legal/user_agreement: "To be eligible to use any of the Coinbase Services, you must be at least 18 years old and reside in a country in which the relevant Coinbase Services are accessible."

Unfortunately for you, I assume most of the reputable exchanges like Kraken, Gemini, etc, also requires 18 years of age. Try buying from services like Bisq[1] I guess? Though you might need to wait a while to get coins in decent prices.

I understand wanting to get rid of those ICO tokens, but its still going to take "someone" to decide which altcoin is valid and which isn't. Most, consider themselves fiat coin replacements...

Based on the articles, decent liquidity seems to be a requirement. From that alone, it pretty much already narrows down the options to a few "for-currency" coins that are probably in the top 20. Beyond DASH, trading volumes really aren't good. But yea, I assume most are just going to accept BTC anyway, and probably a few people on some stablecoins.

Knowledge is the best defense parin talaga.
11530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Acceptance of Bitcoin and Crypto in New Zealand: A Curious Case on: August 13, 2019, 03:45:59 AM
From the 2nd link: "According to the bulletin, salaries must be paid in a crypto-asset that functions like a currency. In other words, the primary function of the coin must be as a replacement for fiat – this should prevent companies from paying employees in illiquid or otherwise small-time altcoins."

So basically it narrows down the options to BTC, BCH, LTC? As those three are the ones in the top 10 that has decent trading volume and are actually made as a currency. Anyway, sounds great then. Though the demand might not be that big, it's still a good start.

"Investment scheme where Investors would only have profit per week"
This does not mean any Ponzi Scheme. Believe me, i have no cruel intentions and want some advice whether should i proceed or not.
Investors would have profit for just holding the token and investing those tokens to make them have profits in Fiat or BTC.

Then think about it yourself. Where's the money going to come from? You can't simply just magically generate fiat or BTC out of nowhere to pay your holders just by them holding your token.

And yes. You technically can launch an ICO and gain traction if your project is actually feasible and if it makes sense, but that's a huge IF.
11532  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to make website like Shapeshift i have lots of coins? on: August 13, 2019, 02:23:19 AM
If you're planning on running a decent service then you're going to need to hire competitive developers, unless you want something that's quite slow and barely working. Also, buying a script online and running in right off the bat is usually not a great idea. I suggest looking for developers in your local area if you want potentially better rates, and developers that you actually can meet up and talk to in person.
11533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BLOCKCHAIN IN THE FUTURE on: August 13, 2019, 02:18:25 AM
1. 90% of current existing projects would be dead or almost dead; though new projects would come up
2. The government probably already bent the knee to bitcoin
3. Bitcoin will still be the dominant cryptocurrency
4. Lightning Network would already be used commonly
11534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What your family thinks about that you into crypto on: August 12, 2019, 06:26:23 PM
In my case? I think they would think that I was just investing in stock market like the common investors do. Nothing much particular or special thing that they'll think that I was trading a digital coins also in the market without having to go outside and incur some additional expenses. They didn't know that I would like be using a decentralized credit card that I could use to buy merchs without suffering from burden of balance that banks would usually put into me.

But bitcoin is nothing like a credit card though.. an easily transferable digital gold would fit the narrative much much better especially when you're going to explain it to your parents in the first place. Calling it a credit card would probably give them too much unnecessarily confusion as bitcoin is already confusing enough in the first place.
11535  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What your family thinks about that you into crypto on: August 12, 2019, 04:04:02 AM
Take it from Satoshi's mouth: "If you don’t believe me or don’t get it, I don’t have time to try to convince you, sorry".

Personally, my family doesn't get the need of it because "oUr LoCaL mOnEy iS FiNe"; and the typical criticism that it's not physical; and if I'm going to try to defend it, they're just like "ehh ok". So basically, they're not interested. So what do I do? Just go throughout my day normally. You really just cant get everyone to be interested in such a niche subject.
11536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China's Central Bank planning Fraud coin on: August 12, 2019, 03:50:22 AM
Oh, China again  Grin

China bans BTC
China bans miners
China is thinking to use BTC
China is lauching a coin
China....

This soap opera never ends, I'm tired of see this China news, it's so confusing,  and with this comercial "war" against US will be very bad to everyone

I mean, what do you expect from China. It's pretty obvious what they want. They realized they can't control bitcoin, so they launch a coin whereas they can have total control of. They want total control over everything, next thing you know they want to control the period schedules of their women.
11537  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Exactly brave browser rewards works? on: August 11, 2019, 03:11:29 PM
It would be nice from you to put a link to the list of brave's restricted vountries? And if possible tell us what should be the reasons behind this restriction. Thx

You can freely download and use Brave literally in any country. The restriction is just for the brave rewards, which I think is mostly because of unclear regulations on most countries besides the countries they already support. But then again, you can use Brave today. It's a good browser with it's privacy features. Pretty much Google chrome that's not going to hog your data.
11538  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase thwarts multiple zero day targeted attacks on: August 11, 2019, 02:30:26 PM
And I'm not reassured. How does some average employee computer lead to exchange funds getting lost? Why is there any type of possible link between that computer and exchange funds?

Same thoughts. I don't think the hacker could directly access something that important through an employees computer. I'm guessing more of that the hacker could probably gain access to a certain employees computer, and probably use their emails to send Coinbase phishing links to a small email list that the employee has access to.
11539  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Exactly brave browser rewards works? on: August 11, 2019, 05:12:42 AM
Look like they now stopped giving rewards.

To me , look like browser itself is a wallet as it have some master key (that is asked to be stored at safe place). Actually I use it just for playing one of game, is it can be reason that all my rewards are donatable to publisher. I did not still used it for normal surfing.

You really won't earn any BAT unless you don't manually turn on Brave Rewards. It's turned off by default. Again, the 4 BAT you received are specifically given for you to donate to publishers and nothing else regardless of what your intention is on using their browser.
11540  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system (infographic) on: August 11, 2019, 05:07:31 AM
Let me get this clear. You made the infographic on a website that requires you to pay for a higher-resolution download of the infographic right? If so, there's nothing you can do but choose another platform or simply pay the platform you used. The platform you used simply gave you a low-res version of the infographic you made, or you probably simply did a screenshot and removed the watermark.

This is not Imgur's fault. If the infographic image you have has decent resolution, then it would've still looked fine when you uploaded it on Imgur. Afaik Imgur doesn't compress or reduce the resolution of images uploaded on their site.
