1161  Other / Archival / Re: Just another question. on: March 09, 2024, 07:52:50 AM
I don't think the sMerit will be gone or depleted from the account even after the ban is lifted it should remain unaffected.

Why did you ask this? do you have a banned account and planning to take the opportunity for "second chances"?

I'm likewise as curious as you on the essence of this thread, because if any member's account got banned and eventually got unbanned, then the account owner will then see by him or herself if the smerits in the account is still there or not, unless perhaps if their alt account got banned or they're just inquisitive to know what happens to smerits after unban. I've never thought of this question before and I'm glad that I now know the answer, although I won't like to have the experience.
1162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Many new projects are now available for users for testing on: March 09, 2024, 06:46:36 AM
What are the project you wanna test and how do you tends to trust any newly launch project without knowing their true intentions towards their testing service especially altcoin projects.
Whatever you are doing with any altcoin can be seen as gambling because anything could likely happened at the cost of doing the test run.

It's ok if anybody wants to join in a test, but they should understand that any new projects is a potential risk and in the end it still comes down to gambling, because when they invest their money in a scam project, it won't matter if they test or not, their investment capital will eventually vanish with the project. It's important to research and try to understand the team behind a project, to reduce the chances of being involved in a scam, rather focusing on airdrops and any unrealistic promises that they can tell potential investors.
1163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Scam called ''INACTIVITY FEES'' - HitBTC on: March 08, 2024, 05:03:43 PM
First, let me point out that this thread is not supposed to be on this board, but in the exchange board, which the link is https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=223.0, so, @op, if you can move it this thread to that board, would be nice.

Anyways, hitbtc is still one of the most scam cryptocurrency exchanges around till date, I personally stopped using them a long time ago, I still have some of my coins trapped there which I was unable to withdraw until I decide to leave it with them, I am not surprised that they have introduced a inactivity fees, this they did so that they can finally have the legal right to withdraw and keep for themselves, funds their users left on the exchange and may possibly come back for.

Avoid Hitbtc at all cost, they are a known scam cryptocurrency exchange.

This is really bad and it's the reason why new investors that comes into the crypto market and stumbles on these scam exchanges and projects will label the entire crypto space as scam. I wonder why scam exchanges like Hitbtc, are still in business after it's been proven over the years that they're not a reputable exchange, your experience and the OP present predicament says a lot about them. I hope he gets justice and recover his coins.

The lesson here is that we need to verify the reputation of exchanges before using their services, and research new projects before deciding to invest in any, because frankly it's not everybody that has the patience to read every details of terms and conditions.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive withdrawal of Bitcoin on: March 08, 2024, 02:32:26 PM
I mean, that's how markets in general work? An asset's price pumps(bitcoin or not), some people will be taking profit, and the price is likely to have a correction after. What will make an asset's price more stable is mostly more market participants.

Precisely, you can't go on hodling your Bitcoin indefinitely, there has to come a time when you'll want to sale, that's the idea behind investing our money on something valuable. What happens in Bitcoin circle is just basic economics, when price is high, investors will want to sale to get their ROI, as more investors are selling because of the increase in price, supply will become greater than demand and price will start to dump, it happens vice versa. So in essence it's supply and demand that dictates the price of Bitcoin and how investors react to buying and selling.
1165  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Be aware, no use person wallet . on: March 08, 2024, 01:13:27 PM
As this issue of binance and government dey go so, I go advise make person no go put coins for another person wallet because say em no get another wallet.
Do not get this wrong, Binance is not even a wallet. Binance is an exchange and an exchange should not be used for saving coins because it should just be for what it should be used for, for exchanging coins. After you exchange your coins, send them to a noncustodial wallet that is open source and reputed.

Your talk na GBAM! exchanges no be where person suppose to de hodle im coin, because as di name imply, na place to go and exchange your coin, either to anoda coin or fiat. Every active member inside this forum suppose know di phrase wey say if e no be your keys e no be your coins, so after you finish your exchange matter, na to jeje move your coin enter inside your none custodial wallet.

I know say as Binance de get issues with our government, scammers don enter dem coven to de device new means to take scam ignorant people, so e good say make we de informed and guard ourselves against dem manipulations.
1166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Market Cap 100 billion today vs less than 5 billion 2020 on: March 08, 2024, 12:04:33 PM
Surprise how USDT grows and everyone wants to buy more bitcoin, it is not the right time to buy more USDT so he expects during the coming year the USDT market will be up to perhaps up to 300 billion dollars or even half a trillion because whoever will think about re-investing will sell part of its investments and transfer them To USDT instead of converting it to dollars due to the ease of purchasing bitcoin with USDT.
If the USDT price does not crash in 2026, which is the season of corrections, it will continue for another four years.

The usage of usdt will continue to rise because of it's importance in crypto conversions, instead of holding your Bitcoin during price dips or converting it to fiat, it'll be better if it's in a stablecoin, when price starts to pump again, the investor will easily convert to Bitcoin again, so I agree that after bull run that usdt can reach a new height. Besides in countries where their currencies are devaluing, crypto intelligent people will convert their fiat into a stablecoin like usdt, which will make economic sense, because they'll not be affected by their county's inflation. Usdt has many potentials to keep increasing.
1167  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you avoid some games because of racism? on: March 08, 2024, 11:01:00 AM
This happened a lot of times in boxing and I lost because of the obvious reason being rigged because of racism. Maybe this is the new normal nowadays in sports but yeah hard to predict when will happen so we really are left being disappointed with results though we just accept and move on.
I only go for big boxing game like the Anthony Joshua versus Francis Ngannou that we are expecting to come. These kind of boxing matches can not be manipulated. I can say I hardly bet more than 3 boxing games in a year. I prefer football and I do not think there is racism in big leagues. Underdog leagues is where that can happen and I can not go for it. To what I have known, I do not see racism in the matches that I go for.

Racism and manipulations will be dominant in underdog leagues, like you said, because they've probably got nothing much to loose, no big company endorsements that'll pull out if the leagues don't perform to standard expectations. Big leagues and top boxing matches, like the upcoming Joshua versus Nganou, will hardly give biased officiating because they have so much to loose if they stoop too low in expected standards from them, they'll lose endorsements and fans. Although no matter the standard of the leagues, you can't totally rule out prejudice, there must be personal preferences, but if the officials and athletes are true professional, then personal feelings will not count.
1168  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Take Profits! Its important! on: March 08, 2024, 10:07:24 AM
Because of the uncertainties that sorounds crypto trading, where a trader can make profit now and lose everything in the same day, I think that traders should not be too greedy, when they make a reasonable profit, they can call it a day and take the profit. Trading is hard, because of the risks of loses, so it's not for everybody in the crypto space, it requires learning analysis, so when a trader beats the odds and profits, it's good to enjoy it, before it can disappear. Unlike investments where investors without adequate knowledge can hodle on a long term and sale with profit in bull run, without stress.
1169  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The American primary election. on: March 08, 2024, 09:03:02 AM

The world power country, The United States of America just concluded their primaries and the acting president Joe Biden lost in the primaries and has broken the record of many years where the acting president Jimmy Carter lost to Ted Kennedy in 1980 Jason Palmer has overshadowed Joe Biden with a whooping 51 to 40 aggregate out of 91 votes.https://l.kphx.net/s?d=6861008078129908901&extra=

I don't live in the US, and I stand to be corrected, because according to the news that I heard today, president Biden, lost in a Samoa, state or region, but he's still the leading candidate in the democratic primaries. Has the primaries been concluded and he lost in the overall? I think that we should be very specific in the information that we pass across, so that others are not misled.

I believe that Americans are smart people, so this is their opportunity to make a choice, whether president Biden, should continue in office or not, the citizens through their votes have the power to make it happen in the coming election. And whether Biden, is behind illegal migrants entering the US, if they have evidence of this, then let him be prosecuted. If the immunity of his office will shield him from persecution, then he should face the music when he leaves office.
1170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Crypto news sources on: March 08, 2024, 08:19:27 AM
I just want to add this from the above post, I suggest if you are looking for an aggregator where you can see all news related to crypto all in one spot including polls/media then check this link below.

For crypto airdrops, I only use one Airdrop aggregator check this link below.

We have enough crypto sites where we can get first hand crypto news, all the sites mentioned in the OP gives accurate news, although sometimes they can copy each other, which is normal, so far they're reporting the same correct news. Thanks for the addition, 'cryptopanic, the more the merrier, I think that I'll add it to my crypto site collection, I hope that it lives up to your hype.
1171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why not try out a less popular but promising token? on: March 08, 2024, 07:26:33 AM
Nothing really bad in being an "early investor" in a certain project because the growth potential is far higher. The reason why it's mostly not recommended for 99% of people is because a huge majority of people are simply incapable of making good decisions in such risky investments, hence why people are better off just buying BTC.

Being among the early investors in a new project can give you an edge because probability is that the price will not dip lower, rather it'll pump as more investors buys the tokens. The investors must however understand that investing in new projects is a gamble, because there are more more scams than genuine projects, so they must do the needful "research", so they won't fall for hypes and promises of getting unrealistic returns on investments. It's only Bitcoin and established altcoins that you don't need to research whether they're reputable to invest in, because they've proven their reputations.
1172  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: NLC demands N794,000 minimum wage for workers in South West on: March 07, 2024, 03:34:51 PM
Thanks for the information, although 794,000 sound unrealistic to ask as minimum wage, but di way wey naira don de turn to shitcurrency, I no go de too surprised if anybody de make any outrageous demands, because di rate wey commodities take de add money for di country de make naira de lose value everyday. I pray say e no go reach dat kind level wey minimum wage go hike like dat, odawise naira go de totally worthless and a bottle of soft drink go reach 5k. Anyway na offer dem make.

I no understand, I think say NLC national level minimum wage suppose be di same nationwide? Abi dem payments na on regional levels? Why Because if na on di state levels na di state governors, suppose make dat call.
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a benefit to joining miner pools in their early stages? on: March 07, 2024, 02:27:26 PM
I am really surprised how you can find a website that is only 5 days old and post it here. I'm sure even Google hasn't crawled this website. If you are a developer, just make an announcement here to support you and it will be much appreciated.  If you are not a developer or promotion team, stay away from this website immediately.  They are really suspicious.  A project that offers unreasonable and excessive profits is suspect.  Their Twitter is also only 5 days old.  Their first post was on Feb 29 2024, and it was the same as their domain registration.  I see to be able to mine, you have to connect to your wallet.  This is something unnatural.  I've heard about websites that can make people lose their assets after connecting to the website. May be this is one of them. I think joining this project is no longer a risk, but suicide. Because the reality has can see with our eyes, this is a fraud.

Everything about this project indicates that it's a scam, and as you said if the OP is not a part of their team and trying to come to this forum to entice us with their unrealistic ROI, then it's best for him not to hop on their scam wagon. Aside from Bitcoin and top altcoins that have proven their reputations in the crypto market, every new projects must be thoroughly researched, so that potential investors will not be scammed of their hard earned money. I wish that there were some sort of regulatory framework in the crypto space that'll signal red flags on scam projects, to protect newbie investors, because most of them will get scammed and label the whole cryptos as scam.
1174  Economy / Economics / Re: Why are some countries being sentimental with bitcoin and the cryptos at large? on: March 07, 2024, 12:53:39 PM
There are many reasons, and the main reason is ignorance of this great technology and also the fear of disrupting the already shaky financial or fiat currency ecosystem and also because they cannot control it.
crypto cannot reduce unemployment because to get involved with crypto one has to have enough intelligence and knowledge so that they can actually make money from crypto and that is not easy either. Because if the government doesn't support it, they won't know much about crypto and will only know the name, and only those who have intelligence will know and develop it themselves in their own way.

The main reason why I think that some governments either fully or partially ban the usage of Bitcoin in their countries is because of control, they probably feel threatened by a decentralized digital currency that their apex bank can not fully regulate it's usage. I think that this mindset is myopic, because a country like El Salvador, that has fully adopted Bitcoin, is having a massive ROI in their reserve, in this bull season. Many individuals and organizations in every parts of the world that adopted Bitcoin are also doing great

It's true that Bitcoin might not reduce employment for majority of citizens in a country, but to those that are knowledgeable about it, it'll serve as a good investment option for them, not forgetting that it also creates employments for those in exchange p2p.
1175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indirect victims of gambling addiction on: March 07, 2024, 10:48:31 AM
There's a saying in my dialect that translates that it's the relatives of a mad person that feels ashamed, instead of the mad person, so you don't really blame the family of a gambling addict when they try to offer help to the victim out of love, because of the shame that he's bringing to the family. I've seen a gambler who scammed their town's association and squandered all the money, using large portion of it to gamble, in the end he lost everything, when the town association found out that he was the scammer, they decided to confiscate the family's property, then the family members had to contribute to pay every penny that he stole. It was traumatizing for the family members to bear the shame and repay money that an irresponsible family member scammed the town association.
1176  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't understand you people... on: March 07, 2024, 09:39:39 AM
When I see that the price is flying down steeply, I sell everything and let it fall down. When it stops, then I buy cheap and I have earned...
BTC is going down now, so let it go and buy when it stops. We can all make money from it and then we will again get it up together! Unfortunately, there are always a few "geniuses" who go against the flow and they are buying when they should be selling, and that destroying everyone's earnings...
I'm seriously upset because a couple of such  " smart "  people just ruined my chance to make up for a 15k loss... I would like to kick them somewhere!

You've simplified your strategy, buy when price dips and sale when it pumps to your expected target, it think it's a great strategy so stick with it and don't worry so much about the decisions of others, remember it's their money and they can choose when to sale and buy, just like you. We all have different perspectives on how we predict the outcome of Bitcoin price, sometimes you want to wait for price to dip lower before selling, and you'd be surprised that the opposite will happen and price will start to pump, so you can't blame anybody for making a decision that'll not benefit you, because they made that decision to favor them. The summary is that crypto price is volatile, so we can only predict and the market determines actual price.
1177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The deprivation of peace in the societies is a political projection on: March 07, 2024, 08:36:00 AM
It's said that bad company corrupts good manners, and power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely, so I want to believe that many politicians enters the political space with good intentions to work and serve their citizens, but the pressure to conform with the doings of other politicians will make them to seek their personal gains in office rather than serving the people. If a politician doesn't act like the majority of politians, they'll do everything by all means to frustrate the good politician, when the pressure is much, the politician will either stand alone or quit.

The corrupt ones will want all of them to be birds of same feathers, so nobody will expose their loots, and who doesn't want to be corrupt will be threatened, blackmailed and intimidated, except he/she joins them, at the detriment of the citizens that supposedly voted them into power. A country will experience prosperity if there are more credible leaders than corrupt ones.
1178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help me out starting out my bitcoin and musical journey on: March 07, 2024, 07:33:48 AM
I understand how you felt seeing people attacking you or trying to make you looks stupid when you are not.
You need to understand that the Bitcointalk community does not support any form of aid for individual self just like you have narrated it.
I believe anyone that is interested in helping you would have to send you a DM to know the major reasons why you choose to seek for help and how they can help you solve your problem. I hope you don't see everyone comment as offensive please. This has been the standard for long.

Let this be an eye opener for the OP to understand that there's no free lunch anywhere, you'd have to work to earn money and respect, someone said that it's only family, friends and fools that'll just hand money over to you without doing anything for them to earn it. This is a harsh reality of life, so he's young and instead of soliciting for help from total strangers, let him research and use his musical skill to make money and hopefully invest in Bitcoin. This is a great forum where he can ask questions about crypto for free, increase his knowledge and when his money starts rolling in, he'll have enough experience about how the crypto market works.
1179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you find out cons of altcoins? on: March 07, 2024, 06:25:19 AM
Altcoins have higher volatility than more established coins such as Bitcoin and ethereum, and also have the potential to cause high losses if proper and thorough research is not conducted.
And what you should do before getting involved in an altcoin or project, especially a new altcoin or project, is to do very careful and thorough research on the team, technology, and market demand before investing. Because new altcoins are highly susceptible to fraud or other failures, you are required to do your best research to consider them.

Determining whether a new project is a scam or legit can be a very cumbersome task, you'd have to be experienced in cryptocurrency to be able to determine whether it's authentic and good to invest in, newbies must learn how to know what to lookout for when they carry out research. Knowing the track record of the dev, team is a good way to start, so the would be investors will know if the members have been involved in legit projects because, if they've been in questionable projects prior to that, then it's a red flag not to proceed further. It's safer for newbie investors to start with established crypto coins like Bitcoin and top altcoins, like Ethereum and BNB.
