1161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For those who think that all ICOs are scams on: March 02, 2018, 08:47:59 AM
Investing in the crypto world isn't that much different investing in the "real" world, they all follow fundamental rules.

but it is VERY different from some real world investment. there are similarities, there is no denying that but for example you can consider shares of some company in stocks market versus an ICO. that company has to actually exist have some value and be doing something for real so that it can create shares and sell them to people so when someone invests in that company they are not investing in thin air.

but when it comes to an ICO it doesn't have to be a real thing, there is no company, there are no teams, it can be literary one person copy pasting code and doing absolutely nothing, and none of them deliver ANYTHING in the end. they are just pure thin air that people gamble on..
1162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Switzerland Wants to be The Crypto-Nation on: March 02, 2018, 08:22:20 AM
as long as by "crypto-nation" they don't mean the same thing as "create your own government controlled cryptocurrency", this can be considered good news. otherwise it is only good if the market remains free and people can feel free to choose between the options they have in front of them: bitcoin or centralized altcoin the government created!
1163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: helping in the growth of cryptoworld on: March 02, 2018, 08:15:37 AM
i suggest starting with yourself. first thing to do is to learn more about bitcoin and see what bitcoin is in addition to being something that you invest in and make profit.
and as soon as you got a good grip over the meaning of a decentralized currency aka bitcoin then you can move on to alternatives and study them.

then you can move on to educating others because by then you would no longer see them as pure investments and money grabs. and this is how bitcoin and the world of cryptocurrencies grow for real.
1164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A proposed naming standard for a satoshi based economy on: March 02, 2018, 08:10:50 AM
0.00000001 = satoshi
0.00000010 = dekatoshi / dekasat
0.00000100 = hectoshi / hesat
0.00001000 = kiltoshi / kilosat
0.01000000 = megatoshi / megasat

we may not need the first 2 after 1 satoshi.
it is always easier to say 10 satoshi and 100 satoshi instead of deka and hecta satoshi in my opinion.
you can say the same thing for 1000 but kilo is a bit different, it is used more often and more people understand what "kilo" means than those who understand what deka and hecta mean.
1165  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bittrex& American financial system on: March 01, 2018, 12:47:06 PM
the problem has never been with Bittrex closing accounts from certain countries. a lot of exchanges and lots of centralized services don't accept people from those countries already and nobody is complaining.

the problem is that Bittrex told all those people from those countries that they  have no issue with them trading on their platform so they made deposits and traded for years. after they gathered enough users from those countries, they suddenly decided to change their rule and block their accounts. an honest exchange would have given them warning with a short window for them to make their withdrawals instead.

in short, they simply robbed millions of dollars worth of cryptocurrencies over night.
1166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where i can sell Bitcoin script / Software? on: March 01, 2018, 12:28:25 PM
if it is your own script which you have written and not gotten from someone else (hacked, stolen,...) then you can visit the digital goods board of bitcointalk [1] and create a topic there with the information about your script and see if there is anybody interested in it.
don't forget to use Escrow[2].

1167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC or ETH? on: February 28, 2018, 02:46:21 PM
both of these are big coins which are already too big for their potential. so you can not expect that much out of them anymore. no big crazy rises for them. so if you want such profits then look elsewhere, mostly in smaller altcoins which have a big potential but not yet fulfilled it.

so either stay away from both of them and invest in something that can get properly pumped and give you a big profit or invest small amounts in both of them and be satisfied with their possibly tiny pumps.
1168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacker Returns $17m Worth of Stolen Ethereum on: February 28, 2018, 02:31:25 PM
this sounds more like fake news. no hacker is going to return stolen funds if they can keep them. and when this long has passed it is not something possible anymore. it is either a lie that the group themselves are telling or simply another bullshit news that someone made up and now news sites are copy pasting it Cheesy
1169  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: DO YOU BUY WHEN THE PRICE DROPS SHARPLY ? on: February 28, 2018, 02:21:06 PM
that is a super high risk strategy in my opinion. it may work but the chance of failure in such strategies are always much higher.

what you can do in case you wanted to stick to this strategy is to take some additional steps. for example see why the coin had such a sharp drop. for example if it is bitcoin you are talking about, a sharp drop can be because of some temporary panic sell or manipulation and you can be sure that it will reverse up because bitcoin adoption is not going anywhere and it has a good potential.
but if an altcoin, like one of those useless junks is dropping then it may be because it is on the track to the graveyard. so buying such coins means suicide!
1170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase made 43 percent of its 2017 revenue in December alone on: February 28, 2018, 02:09:27 PM
if this is true, it is only because last year we had the biggest adoption explosions of all time. it happened during three phases in my opinion which also meant three phases of price rise.
1. the big news about Japan and mass adoption of bitcoin over there.
2. the big news about scaling solution around August.
3. the big news about US and futures market over there.
all of these led to a surge of new users all around the world, including US starting to buy bitcoin and that is a lot of commissions going in their pockets.
1171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Global Crisis, CRYPTOCURRENCY is in danger. on: February 28, 2018, 02:02:32 PM
actually quite the opposite is true.
first of all:
.. it will certainly affect the cryptocurrency that has been using the dollar as the main benchmark.

so does gold, silver, and literary any other goods. if you think bitcoin will be affected just because we were reporting the price in USD then all the rest of the things should be affected in the same way!!! which is not true at all.

secondly whenever there is a financial crisis and the value of a currency is falling, people will seek safe places to store their value. for about 2 or 3 years bitcoin has became another valid option and ever since last year it is a strong one too.
so if there were a crisis, bitcoin price should shoot to the moon!
1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency kills people on: February 28, 2018, 01:56:17 PM
weren't Bill Gates used to be so pro bitcoin and supporting it before? i don't remember what exactly he was saying but i remember it was pretty positive. so what has changed that he has changed his words from that positive attitude to this very dark one while ignoring a lot of things?!
1173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reading Whitepapers on: February 25, 2018, 04:47:12 PM
first of all you need to have some basic understanding of the blockchain technology and have been around the technical aspect of it all to read the whitepapers and really understand them.

secondly it depends on your goals. if you are just in it for trading (an investment to make money) which is the case for most people, then reading whitepapers is a total waste of time!
1174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: The highest risk/reward play this week - ZCL and BTCP on: February 25, 2018, 04:24:54 PM
For those unaware, ZCL is forking into BTCP on the 28th. ZCL holders get 1 BTCP for every ZCL they own.
i wouldn't put it like that.
BTCP is a new coin that is doing an airdrop to both bitcoin and ZCL holders as far as i know. it is called "bitcoin" private after all Wink

Quote
If ZCL is $200 at time of fork, it means BTCP needs to open around $200 for you to break even.
that is only true if you assume ZCL is going to 0. but if for example it drops from $200 to $150 then BTCP has to only be worth $50+1 so that you get profit.

i liked the strategy though. i may even do it with a small amount. so thanks.
1175  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin upgrades on: February 25, 2018, 04:09:11 PM
Why don't the developers just update Bitcoin like any other normal altcoin on the market?
because bitcoin is decentralized and it is not like a centralized shitcoin which the owner aka the developer decides one day that he wants something and implements it in the morning and everyone either don't give a shit or have to follow.

Quote
For example give Bitcoin an update for larger block sizes, faster transactions speeds, privacy features, more transactions per second, lower fee's and maybe add in smart contracts.
all of these are already implemented!
- capacity increase through Segregated Witness and other solutions that are on the way.
- faster and cheaper and also more privacy and more TPS and no fees through lightning network
- smart contracts through side chains for free unlike ETH,...
1176  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pizza day with Lightning network on: February 25, 2018, 04:04:07 PM
We have heard for too long about the network of lightning .... However, we do not see mass introduction of these networks.

anything this new and this important can not be implemented over night. it needs proper testing and improvement for newbie users before it enters mass adoption. and then adoption will take a long time. it is not something you see happen over night.

it is lightning network not network of lightning by the way Wink

But bitcoin is still in a poor shape and has already partially lost its popularity because of this.
yeah sure Grin
1177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Classic, a pump and dump? on: February 23, 2018, 01:18:26 PM
Can't seem to find anything that makes it stands out or unique, compared to the other coins I have.

i don't see anything in the coins in your list (from your signature) that makes them stand out either. and all of them are following the same exact patterns. a good accumulation phase by the whales, followed by a big pump followed by a slow and prolonged dump.
1178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Raise you hand if you got 1 Mil USD from crptocurrency on: February 23, 2018, 01:08:49 PM
LOL, nobody is going to publicly tell you (a random person on a forum) how much they have earned. specially if they have made such a huge profit from cryptocurrencies which may then subject them to taxation or even worse case scenario to tax fraud.
1179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Transaction fee down to $0.11! SegWit works! on: February 23, 2018, 01:00:01 PM
Bitcoin transaction fee is down to $3, average cost of sending a bitcoin transaction is cheaper than it's been in a year and a half, showing the price isn't the cryptocurrency's only unpredictable metric these days.

https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-low-fees-why-happening-why-matters/

You can get away with paying far less than 3 dollars, even with non-segwit transactions. You don't have to pay 100 sats/byte
My transactions are going to pretty fast at 5 sats/byte

On bitcoinfees.earn.com you can see that transactions under 10 sats/byte still get confirmed in about 2 blocks

stop using "bitcoinfees.earn.com" website for fee estimations. it is the worst source for that on the internet. there are better places like this site: https://coinb.in/#fees which you can use to get a good estimation for fees.

for example today transactions with less than 1 satoshi/byte (for example 0.7 satoshi/byte) are getting confirmed fast. but that site above is still suggesting a high fee!
1180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: trying to figure out the ups and downs of bitcoin on: February 23, 2018, 12:50:45 PM
To me i see people turning it away like Microsoft, steam.
last time i checked Microsoft was still accepting bitcoin and it has been at least 4 years that they have been doing it.
Steam stopped accepting bitcoin because fees were too high, much higher than most games they were selling which were $4-$5 even

none of these have anything to do with volatility though.

I my opinion i will not really take off till some of the bigger companies get back in it .

not going to lie, it will help with bitcoin's adoption a lot but it is not the main way of "taking off". we need more people to understand what bitcoin is and adopting it. the big companies will do it after people adopted it.
