11641  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2021-01-13 BI - Man offers city $70M to dig up lost 7500 btc hard drive on: January 18, 2021, 03:31:09 AM
The first ever rally occurred only a few months after this alleged incident. If he was serious about Bitcoin, then he could have purchased a few BTC during this time (or during the correction phase when the price of Bitcoin went down to $200 per coin). There is no point in whining about it now, after getting multiple chances and doing nothing back then. And he seems to be really desperate. £250 for an interview? That gives away the real intention, IMO.
11642  Economy / Speculation / Re: How low will BTC go before the next leg up to 45-50k?? on: January 18, 2021, 03:21:05 AM
The longer it remains at sub-40,000 level, that much greater will be the chances of another correction. At least some of the investors who purchased their coins at around $10,000 per coin will be tempted to book their profits. And this profit booking can trigger the next correction, and there is a good chance that the prices can fall to $25,000-$30,000 in the short term (before the next rally takes it to above $50K).
11643  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When to take profit from your current bitcoin holding. on: January 18, 2021, 03:11:17 AM
I have set a target to sell my Bitcoin and already prepare for a bad situation. I'll consider selling my Bitcoin gradually if the Bitcoin price moves to $50K. I think it is enough to take profits. While if the price is still below $40K, I will continue holding. I have planned for a long term holding if the short target cannot be achieved.  Smiley

If you want to sell your coins gradually, then you need to come up with a well defined plan. You should be sure about how many coins you want to sell, at a particular target price. Honestly I think that 40K is a bit too low. Bitcoin has the potential to move much further up. But in order to reach those levels, you may need to wait for a few years. If it is not possible to wait, then obviously you can go ahead with your current plan.
11644  Economy / Economics / Re: The sale of the COVID-19 vaccine on the dark web continues. on: January 18, 2021, 03:01:28 AM
Chinese vaccination is not good at all, it has around 50% to 60% efficiency to keep you defended against the virus, and unless everyone gets it we are not going to have the regular life back, it would take a lot and China will be getting super wealthy from the virus they helped create, which sucks big time because they should be paying it, not getting rich from it, how nobody sees that is mind blowing.

In any case getting 50-60% efficiency from a vaccination is still better than being 0% ready for it, there is no logic, so it would be still smart to take the vaccination but there are other vaccinations that should be given to the whole world with 90%+ rate and that is the one we should hope to get, china of course with their disgusting working conditions made all these vaccinations in tens of millions of units and sold it very quickly while other places are making sure each vaccination proper, but I will wait for the other ones.

The big question is whether the vaccine is having 50% efficiency as being claimed or not. Statistics can be tweaked, to favor a certain finding. For example, take the case of the Oxford/Astra Zeneca vaccine. Normal trials were showing an efficiency of 62%. But they selected a small subset and then claimed that the vaccine is 91% effective. I suspect the same might have been the case with the Sinopharm vaccine. That said, the other vaccine from China (Sinovac Biotech) is reported to have an efficiency of 78%.
11645  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Netherlands pilot scheme to allow women to play in senior men's team on: January 18, 2021, 02:51:08 AM
Never going to happen imo, they’re smaller, weaker, slower, just not going to happen imo.
Yeah, "women are equal of men" and similar feminine things are getting really terrible. There is nothing wrong with things like men and women both have to take care of their children, women are as good in math and technical subjects as men, etc... But women into a squad where men play is a terrible idea.

Just imagine when women play football in men's team and also imagine that in the opponent team squad includes Ramos, Pepe and other rough players. Women can't be physically as good as men, they just don't have similar possibilities in this aspect. Well, if steroids will be legal for women in sports, then maybe they should compete.

If this is a one-off idea, then I won't complain much. But if they are planning to do this on a regular basis, then I am afraid that it will destroy the quality of the game. Being a female, I have to admit that females can't directly compete with males. If they want to compete with them, then the rules needs to be bent in order to given them special advantage. And this is not going to go well with the other players.
11646  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 18, 2021, 02:38:41 AM
Australia leads by 182 runs, with 6 wickets remaining. Two sessions of play remain for today, but I am not sure in reality how many overs of play will be possible. Rains are predicted for today as well. Also, Australia has lost their entire top order, and the last recognized batting pair is at the crease now (Cameron Green and Steven Smith). Actually the chances of India winning the match appear to be bright.
11647  Economy / Economics / Re: Vaccination Started in India | Impact over Indian Economy & World? on: January 17, 2021, 04:43:45 AM
I am from India, and there are a few things to remember when we talk about the vaccination process in India. India has a population of 1,400 million and yesterday less than 200,000 got vaccinated. At this pace, it will take ages to vaccinate even the priority population (270 million). Two different vaccines are being used - Covishield from Oxford/AstraZeneca and Covaxin from Bharat Biotech. The first one showed an efficiency of only 62% during the Phase III trials, while the second one is yet to complete its Phase III trials.
11648  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: January 17, 2021, 04:33:48 AM
How many wicket-keeper batsman or pure WK does India have in the domestic/national level ? I heard only 5 names so far. Saha is pure WK and as Sanju manju says everyone else seems bit n pieces.  Grin.. Dinesh Kartik international career is about to end so not including him.

1- Saha (pure WK)
2- Rishab
3- KL Rahul
4- Samson
5- Ishan Kishan

The question is for how long Wriddhiman Saha will be considered for the national team. He is already 36 years old and there are signs that age is catching up with him. Even if he remains in contention for the next 1-2 years, the BCCI needs to come up with a backup plan. First they need to decide whether Rishabh Pant is their first choice or not. If that is not the case, then they need to give adequate opportunities for players such as Samson and Kishan.
11649  Economy / Economics / Re: Warren Buffett & "Rat Poison" on: January 17, 2021, 04:23:25 AM
I don't know the real reason why Warren Buffett always thinks negatively about Bitcoin, I think Buffett will not withdraw his words about Bitcoin
at any time. Indeed, the fact is Bitcoin may not be liked by everyone, there will always be people who hate Bitcoin. We really shouldn't force
someone to like Bitcoin, because everyone has their own choice. Even I can't convince everyone in my environment that Bitcoin is the best asset
for now.

Warren Buffet is free to voice his opinions. He is having a negative view about Bitcoin and let's respect his views. Cryptocurrency users need to ask this question - does Bitcoin needs Warren Buffet? I would say that the answer is no. He was a successful investor, but that was many decades ago. Now the best thing for us to do is not to give him unwanted attention, especially when he is badmouthing Bitcoin.
11650  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin hits $40k on: January 17, 2021, 04:13:16 AM
Of course, a lot has change then, even bitcoin's narrative has shifted as well, and again, it could still be a speculative asset, and now its becoming a leverage for big companies to hedge as reserve assets. That's why it can quickly bounce back from temporary dips unlike a few years ago, when that happen, investors are afraid to go in and think bitcoin is dead.

Talking about the huge gap between supply and demand, https://www.coindesk.com/crypto-buyers-face-possible-limitations-on-etoro-this-weekend

Yeah.. I checked the article about eToro. A number of local exchanges are facing liquidity issues. Even here in India, the markup for purchasing Bitcoin through various P2P platforms have risen from 2% to more than 20% ever since the current rally started. Larger exchanges are still maintaining the liquidity. But in the smaller exchanges, there is a huge gap between demand and supply.
11651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: January 17, 2021, 04:03:12 AM
Saurav Ganguly can win this spot without any serious problem but as JSRAW already mention he love to stay at BCCI because its much better place for him and after completing his tenure if he likes then he can manage this seat as well because he is good in leadership with very strong back up from his own board and few other boards as well for this spot about Sangakkara can stay in England for few spots like Michael Holding because he is also doing good here with different things.

If there is a maximum of one year term, then Ganguly may need to vacate the post very soon. He may do well as the ICC president, but with the cricketing world divided in to Big three (+ New Zealand) and the non-Big three groups, that sounds risky to me. I would like him to continue as the BCCI president for the next few years. He has just started with his reforms and a few years are needed to implement them. If they change the BCCI president every year or so, then there will be hardly any stability.
11652  Economy / Economics / Re: China Economy Forecasted to Surpass US Economy by 2028 on: January 17, 2021, 03:53:07 AM
Americans already hiring huge number of people from outside the country and global immigration is even higher than previous year for sure. But I feel somewhat bad that when Trump was on throne he did not do very well to keep this promise and immigrations were halted too mass extent. This is also one of the factor America started its downfall and dollar reduced in pricing.

With this shock they started to print more money and eventually pandemic hit them, and with more severity than the others. I think they had poor management of all. Considering Asian countries like China, India with highest population of all with poor standard of living, still they managed to control the corona like no one else.

The whole economy shot depends on the people working within the country and for the country. So yeah they need to have master plan to come out of the crisis.

The American immigration system is a joke. They are implementing more restrictions on skilled immigrants (by tightening the H1B visa), while the illegal immigrants (who are mostly uneducated, or even illiterate) are being given amnesties and welfare. The current immigration system is favoring welfare rats over qualified migrants. On the other hand, in China they are trying to attract highly skilled migrants from all around the world, although in lower numbers.
11653  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people seem to value 1 full BTC? on: January 17, 2021, 03:43:13 AM
I see lots of people placing value specifically on owning full (1) BTC. Is this just a flex, or is there some advantage to this, versus just owning some fractions of BTC?

How many times you have used mBTC or Satoshi to measure your holdings? Also, most of the people tend to compare Bitcoin with fiat currencies, where sub-units are very rarely used. And this is one of the prime reasons why some of the newer and inexperienced users go for altcoins rather than Bitcoin. They never look at the market cap. After checking the exchange rates, they decide that Bitcoin is too expensive and they go for alts such as ETH and XRP.
11654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: January 17, 2021, 03:33:29 AM
India has avoided the follow on, and that means that in all probability the match will end in a draw. Heavy rains are predicted for the remaining days and I don't think that there is enough time remaining for Australia to bat again and then bowl out India for the second time. Overall, it was a quite disappointing series for Australia. They have now fallen behind in the WTC points table.
11655  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sorry guys.. Bitcoin is not for our day-to-day transactions. on: January 17, 2021, 03:23:57 AM
Maybe they will not agree about bitcoin now, but we can hope that it can become a reality in the future. Using third-party processors can be an alternative for people to pay, and I think they can try to look if there is another option to pay, so they do not have to pay using bitcoin if they doubt bitcoin. As the bitcoin price now increases so high and that attracts the fee to increase, maybe that is why people not to agree to use bitcoin.

This is one of the advantages in paying with BitPay BTC or PayPal BTC (PayPal hasn't yet made the full services available to the users). With these third party processors, we can expect instant confirmations and low transaction fee. But the centralized system means that anonymity is lost, and sometimes keeping your coins in institutional wallets can be an unnecessary risk. But then the user has the choice - whether to go for these third party processors, or to pay directly with Bitcoin.
11656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Paquiao VS Connor McGreggor? on: January 17, 2021, 03:13:33 AM
McGregor tried his luck with boxing before, and it didn't turned out well for him. My opinion is that he should stick to MMA. And regarding Manny Pacquiao, I guess he is now more occupied with politics. If he want to get involved in some exhibition match, then it's OK. On the other hand, if he want to fight a professional match, then he should at least temporarily leave politics and concentrate on boxing.
11657  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adult companies and bitcoin? on: January 16, 2021, 04:32:07 AM
Regarding the recent update of pornhub. That demands users not to re-upload porn and left some users and investors checking which side of the adult sites will be profitable. VISA and Mastercard stopped their contract with porn hub for reasons I don't know much about. But recently Pornhub integrated bitcoin as their payment method. https://ibb.co/fNCL98R and I ask it could be sooner or later until other porn sites or companies take steps like pornhub did. What do you think will happen to cryptocurrency? this can bring a bull run into the market?

Some of the Christian organizations (especially Exodus Cry) have waged a high pitched campaign against porn websites (Pornhub being the #1 target) for the past many years and finally they seems to have convinced Visa/Master to ban providing payment services to Pornhub. Accepting direct payments in BTC is going to help these sites, but they need to look in to the regulatory restrictions and tax complications which will result from it.
11658  Economy / Economics / Re: Tether's market cap is huge! (usdt) on: January 16, 2021, 04:18:45 AM
I got my first cryptocurrency in 2014 and my involvement with crypto is now more than 7 years old. From my experience, I would say that I am not feeling very excited with USDT. Right now it's market cap is going up almost the every other day and everyone is happy about it. But eventually, there will be a scenario where the liquidation starts. People will start converting their USDT to USD or BTC/ETH, and this volume will be greater than the that from the other way around. At this point, it will be interesting to see how smoothly the process goes.
11659  Bitcoin / Press / Re: 2020-12-22 Forbes - Massive Hack Exposes Bitcoin’s Greatest Weakness on: January 16, 2021, 04:05:28 AM
There is a lot of propaganda going on in the cryptocurrency sector related to hardware wallets. New users get an impression that it is mandatory to go for a hardware wallet, if you want to store your coins securely. I have stored my coins in an online wallet for the last 7 years and I have never faced any issue. It is much more anonymous, easy and risk-free, compared to using a hardware wallet to store your coin holdings.
11660  Economy / Economics / Re: The sale of the COVID-19 vaccine on the dark web continues. on: January 16, 2021, 03:48:36 AM
If you've bought your "vaccine" from the dark web, you deserve whatever nonsense they put in the vial and you are about to inject into your body. I can't even imagine the type of person who is capable enough to navigate the dark web, but not smart enough to critically think that what they're buying is legitimate, but apparently those people do exist!

A lot of people already get their medications from the dark web. Even chemotherapy medications (which are very difficult to administer safely) are purchased from the dark web as they cost only a fraction of the market rates. Rather than treating the syndrome, we should be treating the disease. We should look in to the reason why some people are purchasing the medicines from dark web.
