11662  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: lost Bitcoin in electrum wallet on: November 16, 2018, 01:46:49 PM
Give us more details.

What exactly did you do? To where did you send the coins? Why do you think you lost them?
11663  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet problem - won't sync, cant restore on: November 16, 2018, 11:53:50 AM
That's effectively what I'm trying to do.  I can't update Electrum on the version of Tails i'm on so i need to restore from my seed on a new installation.
Why can’t you update it? Electrum won’t synchronization unless you update it to version ~3.x (latest version is better).

Try following these instructions: https://amp.reddit.com/r/Electrum/comments/7cjjpg/electrum_synchronizing_message_on_tails/dpqflmh/
11664  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Wallet problem - won't sync, cant restore on: November 16, 2018, 11:43:34 AM
Update Electrum to the latest version (3.2.3).

The 2.x versions now have synchronization issues, apart from them being insecure and vulnerable to certain already fixed exploits.

11665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do we have a bitcointalk app? on: November 16, 2018, 11:18:51 AM
Unfortunately there is none.

There were a few unofficial ones but they stopped working after theymos implemented the captcha on the login page. But I was thinking, and now that there is a link that bypasses that captcha for your account, someone could update/develop a new (and better) app.
11666  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Confusion about BCH hard fork and clear statement for newbie. on: November 15, 2018, 11:33:04 PM
I still have BCC on Binance. Anyone knows when it will give 2 new coins?
After (and if) the chain successfully forks.

From their website:

Quote
Scenario 2: The Bitcoin Cash hard fork results in a second coin being created

In this scenario, Binance will replace all Bitcoin Cash (BCC) balances with BCHABC and BCHSV, distributing each at a 1:1 ratio based on the aforementioned snapshot taken of Bitcoin Cash (BCC) balances. We will make a separate announcement to notify users what the exact trading times will be for both BCHABC and BCHSV. All BCC trading pairs will also be removed from the exchange.

Please note: Deposits and withdrawals will remain closed until we deem the forked blockchains and wallets to be usable and stable.

11667  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Confusion about BCH hard fork and clear statement for newbie. on: November 15, 2018, 02:35:36 PM
Thank you, OP. But if they split BCH to BSV and BCHABC then what will happen with BSV and BCHABC price? I don't know clearly why they need to split it. Can anyone tell me? Thank you in advance.
A group wants to change the protocol, the other doesn’t want to. Since the BCH network isn’t owned by anyone, any group of people with enough hash power can “fork” the network and coexist with the previous chain.

No one can say what will be the price.

pools Listed yet for BTCSV?
According to this article[1], the supporting pools are: SVPool, Coingeek, BMG, okminer (~60% of hash rate as of November 14th, 2018)

Is there no limit to "minutes" being asked while logging in ?
Just checkmark the "Always stay logged in" box and you will never get logged out.

The minutes box is if you only want to stay logged in for a few hours or days.
11670  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Detecting when a private key has been swept on: November 14, 2018, 01:30:57 PM
The above.

Keep in mind that anyone could unpeel the Casascius, get the private-key but don't sweep the coins immediately. The only thing that identifies whenever it was swept is an outgoing transaction (like HeRetiK said).
11671  Other / Meta / Re: $2.500,000 lost in bitcointalk.org abyss??? on: November 14, 2018, 11:25:43 AM
Yes, maybe it's stupid of me to say so, but I find it hard to understand how money can be lost in a blockchain system. Because the whole point of blockchain is that everything is recorded.
Read the thread... If the coins are inaccessible, we can technically say that the money has been "lost".

I’m sure that everyone of you have read that 3 – 4 millions of bitcoins lost in the blockchain (in case of loosing passwords, loosing harddrives/pendrives, hardware destruction etc.).

But that's not what OP is talking about. He's considering the number of accounts that have been banned/locked/lost and that could have been sold for $x. So, it has nothing to do with Bitcoin or the blockchain itself.
11672  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Just download and install an electrum wallet on: November 14, 2018, 02:28:46 AM
1) The question is do i have to use one address per transaction cause?
You don't have to. You can receive as many transactions as you want to any of those addresses.

2) Can i make use of all the address as receiving address and have the btc in the same wallet?
Yes.

3) Can the address be use more than one time?
As many times as you want.
11673  Other / Meta / Re: Account compromised on: November 13, 2018, 07:29:06 PM
Read this thread: How to sign a message?!

It can't be a watch-only address. You need the private key to sign a message from the address.
11674  Other / Meta / Re: Account compromised on: November 13, 2018, 06:15:26 PM
That's the only way: Recovering hacked accounts or accounts with lost passwords

You'll have to sign a message from an address or PGP key associated with your account. Do you mind linking your account profile/name here?

11676  Other / Meta / Re: my first merit <3 on: November 13, 2018, 01:07:24 PM
Did you expect to get merits for your bounty entries and "reserved" posts? Because that's 99% of all you did this whole time.

You only got this merit because you managed to actually post something forum-discussion-like once after a whole year.

You can add that info on "other contact info" field though. I'm not really sure this is an urgent matter actually, and the forum is going to be migrated soon.
what do you mean is going to be migrated
They're developing their own forum software called EpochTalk. The forum currently uses SMF 1.1.19 (which is a super old forum software based on PHP).

All our profiles and posts will be migrated to the new software. So there will be more features there.
11679  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature generator on: November 13, 2018, 11:48:42 AM
There is no generator that can convert images into BBcode but you can hire some expert on making signature BBcode here in the forum.

If you don't have any knowledge to make a signature in BBcode you can check this list of signature and avatar designer below.

Actually, I just found one: https://morgh.us/pixelate/

It's not the best, but you can use it for something.

No. It's not available.

And adding it already has been discussed many times. It never resulted in anything.
