11721  Other / Meta / Re: referral links VS faucet rotators on: June 08, 2016, 06:48:01 AM
I really don't like double standards thus this pool.
It is more in the line of: Nobody cares. Faucets are really pointless. To be honest, I have never clicked on one of the rotators since I've been around. Considering that they are indirectly posting referral links, it would make sense to disallow them as well. I'm against any kind of referral links (both indirect and direct).
11722  Economy / Collectibles / Re: f*D's Limited Edition Ethereum: Stage 2 Homestead 2" Coins on: June 08, 2016, 06:40:05 AM
Ethereum? I'm actually disappointed with that decision. Although the general idea and packing similar to Genesis is nice and I'd like to see more of that in the future.

This topic has been moved to Trashcan.
Reason: Account generator.
11724  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: June 07, 2016, 08:21:39 PM
To believe (e.g. to be certain) something like that does not make rational sense. To say that is a statistic probability makes much more sense. However, this has been discussed over and over again. In order for the cryptocurrency space to thrive, it would be most suitable if there were multiple coins at the top and not just one (as currently Bitcoin is). Nobody can say that either one will happen for sure; they would only be speculating.
11725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 08:18:26 PM
Lolz. You Dunning-Kruger think the issue is about least path computation, but the quote clearly states it is about determining the algorithm to decide who has the accurate database of the topology and dealing with conflicts/faults in the accounting thus the need to revert to only the stable nodes along with RP routing:
No. I asked a question, I did not create the asumption. You were the one who said that the sources can be found on the WWW so I've stumbled upon the article with those algorithms. You can't blame anyone else besides your own logic.

The RP model shifts the burden of finding sources of multicast content from each router (the (S,G) notation) to the network (the (*,G) notation knows only the RP). Exactly how the RP finds the unicast IP address of the source varies, but there must be some method to determine the proper source for multicast content for a particular group."
Interesting, but that still does not confirm that the implicit meaning of his statement is that is it not possible (rather than just being difficult).

Get off my lawn Lauda. Stop trolling my thread with your ignorance, else I will report you to yourself (the mod).  Roll Eyes
I didn't know that properly replying to a thread was equal to trolling. In any case, I would not be the one handling that report. I might as well repeat this part:

As soon as you resort to ad hominem, the "I'm an expert" story and your credibility goes down the drain.
11726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 07:27:09 PM
If you understand the math models involved, you would understand that he is using "difficult" as a nice way of avoiding saying "centralized is the only way, but we are praying our understanding is incorrrect and we can find a miracle in the mean-time".
Are you referring to the the shortest path algorithms? I wouldn't even consider those complex. I have one implemented in Java, it isn't certainly something special nor hard to understand. Besides, this is what you think that he 'meant' by that. How about you ask him to clarify, rather than make assumptions?

Hey I don't give a fuck if you don't believe me. It is your loss, not mine.
Useless thread is going to stay useless, nice to know.
11727  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 07:18:18 PM
Yes he effectively implied that. You do not comprehend the technical meaning of the quote, thus you are reading it only literally as English words without understanding what he is describing technologically.
I disagree. Saying that something becomes "much more difficult" is not the equivalent to saying that something is impossible.
11728  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 06:53:53 PM
The LN dev was quoted admitting it can't scale to millions of wallets decentralized.
He did not say that. Re-read the quote properly.

The LN white paper is available on the WWW.
The internet is also a nice source.

Lauda you spread FUD every time an expert writes facts against Bitcoin. You force your ignorance on everyone. Before you post, you should do the research.
Spreading FUD by posting non-negative statements? Interesting.

Quote from: anonymous
and Lauda's objective probably is just to pick a trolling fight so the whole thread would be considered as trolling
As soon as you resort to ad hominem, the "I'm an expert" story and your credibility goes down the drain. I've merely asked for sources (a single quote does not cover your story) and made conclusions based on your own (presented) logic. Look at it from a different perspective: A random member appears, claims that they've been a software engineer for 30 years and that they must be right because of that. How does that sound to you?
11729  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 06:01:00 PM
Tl;dr: I'm a "expert", and I'm right because you are not and that is the definition of it all. Very useful thread and many useful sources were provided.

11731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 05:22:55 PM
Lauda you are not a software engineer for 30 years. You don't know what you are talking about.
And neither are you.

The garbage collection load on LN is entirely dependent on how many payment channels close within any given block. The statistical outliers are in the orders-of-magnitude.
What "statistical outliers"? Where can we see these.

Please if you are going to argue, cite some expert resource. Otherwise your comments are useless to me.
You cited nothing in regards to that part either. Going by your own statement, your own comments are useless.

As evident above, it is entirely relevant.
Nope.

I am referring to supporting millions of users ("wallets"). I quoted the lead developer of LN who stated it is the case. Then you disagree with him.  Roll Eyes
The definition of "reasonably well" is subjective. He never claimed "LN also requires a few numbers of centralized servers".

Pull out your moderation powers to move the thread or otherwise censor it.
Another one of those people that can't tell the difference between moderation and censorship. Please also tell me that you like certain HF's.  Roll Eyes
11732  Other / Meta / Re: Dorrittulx - Allegedly hacked senior member used for massive ref spam. on: June 07, 2016, 05:05:06 PM
This isn't something new though. We've seen examples of similar spam (with different websites) in the past. The people that are able to ban this guy permanently are currently not here, so a bit of patience is required.
11733  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mass Adoption Crypto Currency Market Potential Index on: June 07, 2016, 05:01:21 PM
LN requires orders-of-magnitude more block chain transaction bandwidth for peak garbage collection phases, than it consumes normally. Thus you need Bitcoin to scale massively before LN can scale massively.
Not really, no ("order-of-magnitude").

Bitcoin can't scale without being centralized for validation and mining. That is fact well known to experts such as myself. Many people may deny it and I have no desire to argue with them.
Even though that is correct ('can't scale efficiently'), the claim "experts such as myself" is really pointless in this context.

LN also requires a few numbers of centralized servers cooperating for it to function reasonably well:
Not really, no.

LN is an incredibly complex Rube Goldberg kludge patched on top of an inadequate block chain design and there IS a better solution coming. You have to discard the Bitcoin block chain and Satoshi's design and start over.
If by better, you mean partially-centralized scam coins that are being pumped, then you're wasting our time.
11734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Max Price of Bitcoin After Halving on: June 07, 2016, 03:56:17 PM
From those people who's most experience the changea of price of bitcoin??
There is no such thing. The chance of their prediction coming true is almost as equal as the chance of the next person's prediction. Nobody can really know for sure how much and when the market is going to shift.

Additionally, why do people have the need to open up so many speculation threads (+ in the wrong section) about the halving? Quite redundant.
11735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Anonymous Enough For You? on: June 07, 2016, 01:30:07 PM
Its still not enough for me because it can still trace..
Tracing random numbers (e.g. amounts) or addresses won't do you any good.

you need to use any kind of mixers service before you can be a anonymous.
Not really, no.

I consider bitcoin semi anonymous since in most cases you'll need to identify yourself to an exchange in order to exchange FIAT to BTC and back, plus you'll need to identify yourself if and when you buy physical goods with bitcoin.
The term that is usually used is 'pseudo-anonymous', but your statement holds. Honestly, what did people expect? Completely anonymous coins are most likely never going to be available on regulated exchanges.

If you don't use tricks, the trace can be followed, and your history can be found out and coupled to your IRL identity.
Coupled by who? The only people that could potentially do that are the ones to which you've given your personal information to (e.g. exchanges). For everyone else, you are anonymous.

For me, bitcoin is not anonymous at all.. Every bitcoin wallets I used they asked me my email and some of them asked my phone number too (xapo).. then how we could say that bitcoin is anonymous.
You have no idea what you're talking about. Stop using online wallets already.
11736  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Kretanje cijene on: June 07, 2016, 01:28:12 PM

11737  Other / Meta / Re: selling Bitcointalk accounts shouldn't be allowed.. on: June 07, 2016, 09:09:37 AM
This would also have a lot of unintended consequences.
-snip-
I actually have no problem with that. People will try to scam either way. It isn't even hard to avoid scammers, and it is quite rare that someone that is 'trusted' engages in such behavior. The spam is the primary problem in this situation, not the scams.

All of the above will also encourage people to scam via buying accounts, which will only exaggerate the above problems.
Not doing anything exaggerates the problems the most.

even if the mods could make the sale of an account extremely difficult. That would just hike up the price of the accounts and make them far more sought after.
No. The opposite would happen as it would be risky to engage in account trades. Read QS's post.

11738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Blockstream is against "contentious" hard forks - Control on: June 07, 2016, 09:00:56 AM
I still don't get it. Why would anyone waste any time calculating "median"? It's completely worthless.
Median exists for a reason.

Re read to understand my points, now you see it is logical. But with no activation there is no adoption. Is that correct?
Well, obviously. If the Segwit soft fork does not get activated then there can be no adoption. However, I don't see a reason for which it should not get activated.

(bitcoinfees.21.co also quote this 226 "median" number?)
Yes, that is the median TX size.
11739  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Blockstream is against "contentious" hard forks - Control on: June 07, 2016, 12:10:29 AM
I mostly said segwit will take a long time to have any effect on block space. but I did also say segwit will have no effect in the event it never gets adopted. That is a possibility. It is not logically wrong. It maybe against your opinion.
Well then that is something else entirely. Posts that have weird formatting and/or punctuation can end up being interpreted wrongly. Are you talking about adoption (i.e. users) or activation (as in the Soft fork itself)? Because in the first case that assumption will never become true. In order for zero adoption everyone would have to move away from wallets that incorporate Segwit. What are the odds of that happening?

So why are you talking about the median? It is a completely worthless statistic with regards to this topic.
Because franky has been chasing both Maxwell and me (among others) around with his nonsense when he didn't even understand what median meant in the first place.
11740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Blockstream is against "contentious" hard forks - Control on: June 06, 2016, 11:00:16 PM
"Hyperbolic nonsense", yeah maybe, we all got an opinion. Some more credible than others. (ftr not a dig at Lauda)
It doesn't matter whether you have a opinion or not when it is logically wrong. Saying that Segwit will never make a difference is wrong. As soon as we start seeing Segwit transactions (i.e. we reach any kind of improvement, e.g. 1.05MB), we will notice the improvement.

A realistic 180% "after some time"?
Yes. That's what the last calculations done by aj (IIRC) on the mailing list show.

if every transaction, paying less fees to miners, was segwit?
What is this even supposed to mean?

I am saying I don't want segwit. At least not yet, untill it can be more tested and proven.
It has been in testing for more than 5 months now.

Correct, 2 mb is not actually needed today. 1.25 would suffice.
The go ahead and propose a properly designed BIP and not something improperly designed with added limitations such as the one that Gavin proposed.

If we don't say the same thing as "staff" we are abused?
Who was ever abused for disagreeing with staff members? I don't recall any examples of such.

shocking and ridiculous considering no thread here, discussion, goes without Laudas staff  "opinion")
There is no such thing as a "staff opinion". This is solely Lauda's opinion and is in no way related to the opinion of any other staff member or the forum itself.
