This is the time when you should recommend to people you actually care about to get into Bitcoin. Not just buy but understand it. (ie...send them a link to the white paper).
Tried that many years ago, didn't work then, wont work now. Their loss.

I do not think it is a good idea to convince people to invest in anything.

Taking care of your money if your own responsibility, and it is a very personal decision. If someone asks my opinion, I will tell them. But gathering people to invest in BTC is risky, and it may cause problems in your personal life. A Friend or family member may make wrong decisions and lose money , and he will blame you.

For any kind of investment... Investment advice usually ends bad.

You could and should give certain people, who are interested, some information, and reading material. So they can make their own decisions

What difference does it make? You guys have no minimum quota.

People would be able  to make 0 posts in a week and 100 posts in the following week and receive 2 full weeks of payment instead of one Wink
11723  Other / Serious discussion / Re: The Revolution in France & Europe on: December 18, 2018, 12:37:32 PM
It's about the daily life of people, they are tired to work full time since years and are not able to save $20 at the end of the month. Prices are outrageous but minimum wage doesn't follow, Frenches are just asking to get a decent life, especially since they have a job, having enough food and go to holidays once a year.

I see that yellow vests are demanding an increase in minimum wage, social justice, more rights, wealth tax...

They want that the State increases the control over the economy and the society. That the government solve their problems.. that's understandable, as government fucked up... But giving more power to the government is not the way.

Real changes are achieved only by long term proposals. raising minimum wage overnight is not solving anything for example. Wage is determined by how much wealth an employer can produce, if it raises and the employer do not become more productive, he will not be hired.

France is already one of the most repressed economies in Europe according to heritage foundation.

Venezuela Forcibly Converts Pensions into Petro

The nasty surprise is that those waiting for their pension payments in December got an email message with the description of “Saving in petro.”

...

What this means is that the government decided to convert the pension payments into the Petro cryptocurrency. This was done without any prior notice or the consent of the people receiving the pensions.

Senior citizens who get a pension now have to navigate through the carnet de la patria system and find the process that allows them to convert the Petro into bolivars and then send the fiat to a local bank. (This is necessary as you can’t use the Petro for anything currently.) Needless to say, the site does everything possible make this as hard as it can be.

Compounding the issue is that people who had not signed up to be part of the carnet de la patria system found their pensions converted. This means that they have to create an account and deal with the official government website in order to access the funds they’re entitled to.
...

Centralizing cryptocurrency just allows a despotic government to fully control the monetary decisions a citizen can make. With just the flip of a switch, Venezuela could stop all access to controlled accounts, thus leaving the average person high and dry without any means to procure funds.

The socialist policies of President Nicolás Maduro, following in the footsteps of Chavez, continues to bring misery to the country’s populace. Basic food items, medicine, and fuel are almost impossible to get. Inflation is so rampant that the government literally lopped off five zeroes from the bolivar. In 2017 alone, the average Venezuelan lost 19 pounds due to the dire economic situation and lack of foodstuffs.
https://bitcoinerx.com/altcoin/venezuela-forcibly-converts-pensions-into-petro/

Imagine being forced to convert your life savings in a centralized shitcoin created by a corrupt socialist dictator.

When we think things cannot get worse....

In a few days Bolsonaro, the elected President of Brazil (conservative biased), is going to become president. Russia sent weapons and bombers to Venezuela last week. Coincidence?

I hope the ascension of right wing politicians in the Continent will weaken this craziness in Venezuela.
11726  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Proposal of a "stable" coin mechanism with no oracle or peg on: December 16, 2018, 10:40:32 PM
I took a look in your GitHub, and I was thinking about it.

As you said in the paper, the price is controlled by supply and demand. You proposed methods to control the supply, by mining  rewards and using two coins... But, what about the demand? You cannot control it.wjy should this coin be worth 0.000001 USD? Or one less or more zero?

If there is no demand for those coins, it doesn't matter any control over the supply.
Maybe I am missing something?

Stable coins should not be speculative, as far as I understand
Pegged coins, which are being successful such as usdt have a demand because they are like a security debt. When you buy tether you can sell it for USD in bitfinex/tether which promises to pay you back , a multimillionaire company...

I don't see , so far, how someone would buy a coin for X USD and expect to receive yhe same value back without amy multimillionaire company or government promising to pay you back (that's how security debt works anywhere in the world).

Buying a stable coin is like lending money.
11727  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Where to spot the opportunities like that on: December 16, 2018, 10:04:47 PM
I am still thinking about disruptive technologies that will  impact the future.

I am looking for anything with 10.000% gains. There are some opportunities like this that happens once in a while. I saw it twice in the last 10 years.  One of them was bitcoin. The other one was some lands in Brazil, near where I live, that had a 10.000% valuation thanks a bridge that was constructed ...

Other than that, I saw some good opportunities in the stock market in emergent countries.

In Brazil for example, our stock market index had a 300% valuation in the last 2 years. Some companies had a valuation similar to bitcoin, like a 1000% in 2 years.

You need to keep an eye open for those opportunities, which are hard to find and risky.

For example, who is betting that Venezuela will recover? I believe that one day Maduro will die and the population will be free, and the market will recover.. Whoever invest 1000 usd there in the right assets may make millions. Or lost it all in a few months... Do they have some Index fund ETF?  I know that 100 USD is a LOT of money there.
This Venezuela idea is just a brainstorm, I would never invest there, but I am considering that one day there will be an opportunity for high riskinvestment there. Or maybe not, if Maduro decides to make another dictator his successor like happened in Cuba...
11728  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you think countries should leave the EU? on: December 16, 2018, 08:43:57 PM
The question is not "Should countries leave the EU", but how can countries escape the morphed British Empire that controls the EU. You can see what happens by looking at Brexit. The Oxford/Eton elite controls the Government and the Civil Service in the UK, and this is why there has been no attempt at all to honour the referendum. The last two years has been spent in trying to nullify the escape, by calling various options "soft Brexit" Macron was a Rothschild banker, and they are trying to stop France gaining independence. They crushed Greece when it tried. Clinton was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford, and he and other recent US presidents are part of the same globalist group. Thank goodness Trump is grasping a few throats.

This is so crazy. Do not honor the referendum.

I thought that in UK you had more serious institutions...
We had a similar situation in Brazil in 2005. The workers party made a referendum asking if people would like to ban guns. They lost, as the population said it wanted to keep the guns...

Worker's party just ignored the referendum and banned it anyway.

I hope UK can win this fight against globalism, I had no idea they were trying a "soft" brExit. I will research about it. Which kind of journals do you recommend that I can read free online to keep updated about Europe politics.?

Does Real Wealth Get Lost When Bitcoin "Crashes"?

No.

Bitcoinand other speculative assets such as stocks do no generate wealth. When Bitcoin crash no wealth is lost, because no houses gets lots, almost no services are out of activity, no physical goods are lost.

Real wealth in my opinion is what makes people's life better: manufactured goods, physical goods, services, education... Speculative assets don't really interfere in the real world.

When bitcoin crashes  basically the only impact is on speculators bank account. But numbers in a bank account generate no wealth.

11733  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 15, 2018, 10:56:59 PM
Simple solution. Take, say, 10% of your "new" profit on the way up.

Say you have 1000 as a baseline, you go up to 2000, you take out (2000-1000)*0.1 = 100.

Now you go from 1900 to 3900, and take out (3900-1900)*0.1 = 200.

That's what JayJaunGee told me he does, and that's indeed a very powerful strategy. I got almost 7x, and if I had taken 10% out I would be much more relaxed now.

This strategy allows you to become rich and protect you from becoming poor lol
11734  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 15, 2018, 05:02:18 PM
First and foremost, when the time comes take some fucking profits.

This is what I must regret.

If I had take 10-20% profil I would had recover almost all my investment and would be relaxed now. Possible buying more.
11735  Other / Meta / Re: Causality of meritable posts on: December 14, 2018, 10:15:31 PM
But rather than about this problem, you might want to start focus giving merit on these boards/sections. I've done it and majority (at least 90%) of my sMerit going to technical question, answer or discussion

Well,my amount of smerits available is very limited. I have gave almost al my smerits to my local board, which is extremely undermerited (Portuguese). I will try to give more to technical boards, however i  have something like 3-7 new smerits per week if I post a lot and receive a lot of merits....

I got a popup telling me "thank you", nothing else. Is that as expected, and did it work?

I had the same experience. I was expecting a confirmation email also, but nothing arrived on my email.

I was worried that my Adblock could be blocking my registration, but I tried disabling it and I saw the same message.
11737  Other / Meta / Re: Causality of meritable posts on: December 14, 2018, 12:46:38 PM
I could agree to that but the 25 merit for the 6 posts in my thread begs to disagree Cheesy

25 merits for 6 posts isn't much. Near 5 merits per posts. And they are technical posts (the main reasonl this forum exists)
11738  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Need a Negociecoins Account on: December 14, 2018, 12:40:03 PM
Which token you want?

Is it leaxcoin? It is weird to see this coin there.

I suggest that you talk to them in Facebook. They offer fast response, and you will probably be able to creat an account there using your documents. They are a legit exchange and one of the most reliable im Brazil.

Also the fact is i am not a native Brazilian. So that my documents is not enough to open an account. So i am asking support.

Can you help me with the name of such kind of group in facebook. Thanks for response.

https://m.facebook.com/negociecoins/

They usually respond in a few minutes. Explain your situation, I believe they will help you.
Create an account first. Then you verify it.

Tell us later what happened

11740  Other / Meta / Re: Causality of meritable posts on: December 14, 2018, 11:54:39 AM
I believe most of the replies in technical discussion board deserves a lot more merit.

Your question was nice and legit, so one merit would be reasonable to it. But the answers deserves more merit than the question, as the answers contains experience and knowledge.

As a bitcoin forum, imo the most important sessions are the technical discussions ones. I discovered this forum while trying to figure out how bitcoin works. How to claim a fork, how to send coins, how to keep my funds safe, sign messages etc etc...  Many good users discover the forum this way, and those kind of answers should be incentived.

Imo we lack merit sources in those sessions (technical support, tech discussion, alternative clients, etc). The discussions there are very good, much better than the forum average, and almost all of them undermerited imo.
