First of all when you launch the game the first screen says that all gains will be reset until the full game launch, so everyone who plays the game is aware.
Second, the reset is only for in-game items like gold, crystals (different than BitCystals BCY) and in-game (free) cards which are not blockchain cards and whatever upgrades were done to all cards. Whoever owns blockchain cards will still own them as they are Counterparty assets.
Third the recent rise of BCY price was due to the news of 2 soft launches: spells of genesis (the web soft launch) and Book of Orbs (Android and iOS app built in collaboration with IndieSquare). Both soft launches happened the same week and that's when BCY went up in price.
As with all altcoins there are speculators who buy and sell to make a profit. Nothing different than any other coin. However the difference with Spells of Genesis and most other alts is that the team actually has a working product in its final revisions before full launch on the Apple and Google appstores.
The reset was a known thing to all SoG fans and players so it didn't cause any crash. What caused it is very short-term speculators cashing out their profits.
I don't mind at all when the price goes down because all it means is moar cheap coins for me! Keep dumping!
