1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: September 08, 2018, 03:03:46 PM
it's still profitable to buy Z9 or A9 ?
i have almost free electricity (0.02-0.03$ per kwh)
is it possible to achieve Payback under 4 month?
any advice?

I would look at ROI as triple what you see to be conservative. Only other large factor could be a bull run and if you buy you're set and geared for it, in place of scrambling to acquire hardware at higher costs. There's a lot to weigh, I wouldn't purchase unless the capital you're using isn't going to hurt if ROI isn't achieved in a time you're comfortable with.

looks like spec had changed for the full, unless I'm late to the update from being on holiday. but 42k sols at 970w. Hopefully with OC's on cheap power.

That's some good communication to notify you that it's about to be shipped. I guess they are for review/breakdown. Is philip's on the way to? Wish we're getting a demo, makes it easier to sell to buyers when we've seen it can perform. We don't care to keep anything, just run it, pull it apart and ship it back since as a company we don't mine.
1187  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mucho gear coming out in next few months. on: September 07, 2018, 11:23:32 PM
Any idea of how Avalon A9 will be priced?

Simplest phrasing is: "to market". With a Q4 release pending bull or not it would be more of a matter of speculation. I can't recall if they released specs yet, but without physical product performing it's hard to say. My expectation for any asic right now is 25+ TH/s at about 1500- 1600w to trend inline with current industrial modeling and have enough ROI to entice mass market.

Still want to watch not just your temps but power expenditure. Max profits will be more of a factor in coming months. Nice though to see market stable in the $30+ish/day range.
1189  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: September 07, 2018, 10:41:47 PM
my biggest appeal with the T1 was -ck's firmware.

the overt AB  was good way to prevent bitmain from using covert asicboost

Of course bitmain simply just sells 388 usd s9j's to retaliate so I guess little guys can't win.

to me the innosilicon T2Turbo is the best on the market for efficiency and the two low speed settings are not so loud.

Yea, T2T is the best option out currently. My S9i though is considerably quieter than my avalons and the early s9 when all at 100%.

Would be great to see -ck's work on these products again, along with some other collaborations we've been working towards (no collaborations with -ck and mfb to be clear, just a thought).

Was speaking with my sister who manages B2B integrations on the software side. Would be nice to work in some business access to manufacturers help streamline their bulk and non retail products/items.

I can see I'll be missed heartfeltly. Maybe everyone should take a trip to Crater Lake? Block % My recreation budget is pretty tight now, time to buckle in for the winter.

Head to the beach!   Seaside or Cannon are calling your name.

Yes have to while the weather is decent. Rain is supposed to be coming. Probably try and take my beard mountain biking. Just need a meme with a hipster on a bike with their long beard in the front basket to complete this image in my head right now.

1192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: September 07, 2018, 06:26:54 PM
It was obvious once the T2 came out. From Halongs postings and pull coordinating with Innosilicons surprise announcement.

Halong had better market appeal of a start up, particularly working with MyRig as sales/support. When consumers support you there's no better marketing. A simple powered by or with Innosilicon asics would have done the T2 hugely while retaining the Halong brand. Then my opinion was they should have waited for sales with the T2T being their frist T2 model. As the T2 was just barely an upgrade IMO.

Sure T1 deliveries were poor, software/hardware needed work but most of that was worked out in a reasonable amount of time. AB to me is a non issue, if anything it helped drive decentralization of hash. Unwelcome surprise for some but nothing a user couldn't work out easily. Malicious or misleading, no. On the unfortunate end now pools like slush are much larger. Then good side is so are some smaller ones.

Mostly the hipcup with the T1 was the over extension of some partners. To make anything work you have to know your limits. It would be like us promoting tech support. Not something we focus on, so not something we're best at. Brokering, routing, transfers, shipping/receiving, sales, sure. Basic troubleshooting, ok. Beyond that, we're happy to let others take care of what they do best.

Oh, and yes, that's the T1 firmware you're after. I still might talk to -ck about what is best to use.

1195  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 841 - 16+ TH/s - Immersion Cooling Review / Test Setup on: September 05, 2018, 03:34:43 PM
Hopefully they do blades for the A9 for immersion. It seems that it's just a small adjustment on the PCB layout to change how everything is attached compared to what you pull out their standard tube housing. Hopefully they drop the huge MOQ if they make the next series. Even then, if they allow advertisement we'll be happy to set up a batch buy for everyone in the world to participate in.
1196  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 17.2TH/s, 1570W Innosilicon announces the most powerful and efficient BTC Miner on: September 05, 2018, 03:29:11 PM
Have to keep in mind moving to Q4 soon and more and more efficient gear will continue to hit. Hope I can replace my s9's for the T2T or something else in the next months. Unless you have a large op with cheap power and just want to bulk up on cheap gear. My S9i is much better I than the original s9, I imagine the s9j continues but still not as efficient as the T2T at least from the posts philip shares and a couple others verifying.

Well hopefully it depends on the when you reserved. Early worms, early hashers?
1198  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 841 - 16+ TH/s - Immersion Cooling Review / Test Setup on: September 03, 2018, 10:24:42 PM
Apparently these boards are limited in quantity and won't be advertised. Not sure what the cost is for them but MOQ are pretty high to make my dreams of a blade tank in house not possible with these unless we can get a group going.

Also, looking at the pictures I might mount these to be able to pull a single blade out at a time. Then I'm no pro ... .

Those look great. We'll see for my next round since we started the group buy for APW5. Bookmarked the page for now. Smiley
