underscore does not start the miner. however the hyphen does start it.

in the responses above, people are using hyphen not underscore.

this is more complex than i realized.

is it supposed to be hypen (-) or underscore (_)
start-mining or start_mining
thanks.

hello

would like some help.
1. typing help in the bitmonerod  instructions for mining are :     start_mining <addresss>    [number of threads]
2. in the guide it says:   start_mining [threads] <address>
3. in this conversation thread I have read:   bitmonerod.exe --start_mining [threads] <address>
4. and also I have read bitmonerod.exe --mining-threads [thread] --start_mining <address>

which one of these are correct or all of them correct
thanks

i am using
bitmonerod.exe --mining-threads 2 --start-mining 425PDBdQyXuHRypExn9HKYj83vEkPFewG7Ez1m7n1GkAQcZFaSUETsZWYLVQTwNDssC2Nn7z2PeAwE8 AWAGbNeq9HVeSYWo

i here tft is no longer part of the project. so is he forking or relaunching bytecoin under new name and new parameters (merged mining with flatter emission curve.) also. what is the end consensus for the emission curve for monero. will it be adjusted.

just curious.

can you change the op regarding network launch

1. will be launched with prior notice of two days.
2. will launch network with 2 days prior notice. estimated date

I keep thinking I missed it as it says this week as of last week. So i guess I am not sure that you launched already

as all words get adopted, they are changed by the community adopting it. it is no necessary to use the conjugation of the original language.

1) I did find a block during the whole debacle with the merged block entering the chain.

are you a none techie?. does your reponse increase confidence. in my case it does not.

2) This is the case with any coin. The people who know how to code can create their own optimized miners for CPU or GPU. Its just the way it is for now. Bitcoin went through all of that, the final solution being ASICS. New stuff is much more fun to mine.

so this is a manufactured situation to benefit the founder? That does not consistent with the theme of no instamine, no premine, fair launch coin.

one mistake is likely incidental. the first one where the link did not work in OP ( yes it did work if you copy the whole thing and paste-however there was no instruction for this in OP. this can be an oversight and understandable.) two mistakes is concerning for a pattern. Are you saying that it is ok because other coins did it, that founder should manipulate this coin to his benefit?

3) There is another link just above to a dropbox where you can download the new version. https://www.dropbox.com/s/lcjr6fkkbtf4tse/MRO%20Windows%20Binaries.zip

yes, thank you. this does not clarify points 1 and 2.

i would like to propose a conspiracy theory here. could it be that TFT and friends created a problem where there was non, as they see the coin going up in popularity and thus limit ability for people to mine or participate.
1. yes mining continued: is this true can a non techy very this
2. increased frustration: people may hold of mining while a better wallet is in place. thus decreasing difficulty and increasing coin accumulation of those in the know.
3. a day later and still unable to access wallet from first page. people are pointed to github but I do not see a link there that says updated wallet. click here and your parse problems will be solved.
4. i recall i could not participate early because link was botched. there was no note underneath to clarify this for those new to cryptocurrencies. for 5 days I could not mine while tft and friends went about it merrily.

would tft go to such an extreme.... just speculating.
1199  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [HP] Monetization discussion on: May 01, 2014, 02:22:56 PM
I still do not see the need to incentivize the developer. The developer has deep knowledge of the system. early participation guarantees early accumulation of coins. the best example is MRO. TFT has many thousands of coins because of early participation. what that coin has for it is no premine, no instamine, and no tax. This will be very difficult to beat. It can be seen by its adoption and what appears to be successful despite not having an exchange. people see real value in that coin. In a sea of clones and gimmicks, MRO stands out. bytecoin has first mover, but people are galvanizing around MRO because it has the same technology, but most importantly what the community deems fair. No premine, no instamine, and no tax.

it is the adoption of the coin, and success that will bring about the developers early coins the value they deserve.
For the future developmental needs, perhaps current developers may not be the best. May need alternative developers, and miners choosing the direction by choosing the developer is very important. No insult intended here. But this project may go beyond your vision. ability to chose the direction is important. unfortunately (and fortunately) power does belong and should to miners. this is the point of cryptocurrencies.

Looking at any major cooperation: early founders are not always at the helm. If they are, it is for a short time. Often the shareholders or board of directors move a company in what is in the best interest of the company not the founders. (apple is not an example of this)
1200  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: MC2: A cryptocurrency based on a hybrid PoW/PoS system on: May 01, 2014, 01:48:59 PM
cpu coins, allow for more people to participate. non techies. as more consumers go into the market, value and use increases for that particular coin.
GPU mining limits it to certain people. your familiarity with computers, prevents you from seeing even what may appear to be simple tasks as very complex to average users.

5% adoption world wide i am sure would dwarf a botnet. and I think that is the ultimate goal, for cryptocurrency to be adopted.
