Bitcoin Exchange Receives First License in New York State

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/bitcoin-exchange-receives-first-license-in-new-york-state-690547

New York state's top financial regulator has granted the first license to a Bitcoin exchange, allowing it to open legally to customers across the country.

The exchange, itBit, said Thursday that it was beginning to take on U.S. customers immediately after receiving a banking trust charter from New York state's Department of Financial Services and its superintendent, Benjamin M. Lawsky, who has been trying for some time to bring new rules to the fledgling virtual currency industry.

USAA Creates Research Team to Study Use of Bitcoin Technology

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/internet/news/usaa-creates-research-team-to-study-use-of-bitcoin-technology-690548

USAA, a San Antonio, Texas-based financial institution serving current and former members of the military, is studying the underlying technology behind the digital currency Bitcoin to help make its operations more efficient, a company executive said.

Alex Marquez, managing director of corporate development at USAA, said in an interview this week that the company and its banking, insurance, and investment management subsidiaries hoped the "blockchain" technology could help decentralise its operations such as the back office.

If you're that hard up/greedy to walk all over someone, by all means, have at it.

Sorry about that. I was too eager to send coins. I should have probably made a post confirming that I would be doing the transaction, before sending bitcoins.

There have been instances in the past (like this) when I had a confirmed deal and then somebody else entered. I didn't feel good about it all.

The game would cover the loan amount (~106%), but not the interest. Is there anything else you could offer as collateral? Preferable on steam as well to keep it in one place.

I am not familiar with steam accounts. Would you be willing to buy the game at a particular price in case of a default? I would be okay to give the loan if the collateral can be sold for 100%+ of the loan. I am willing to take risk on the interest portion.

need a loan to pay shipping cost
$43.00 BTC, repay loan with $10 interest
Term Length : 7 Days Max
I do not have any collateral, I really needed this  Sad

I do not have anymore, I also got it from the giveaway Embarrassed

Just curious - How do you plan to get BTC to repay this loan?

Benson Samuel, co-founder and chief technology officer of exchange rate setter Coinsecure, says he has about 3,000 registered bitcoin users, “and that number grows daily”.

“We are seeing two broad types of users. One is the speculator and the other is the one who buys and spends bitcoins,” said Samuel.

From having founded the pioneering digital publishing platform CNET, selling it for $1.8 billion to CBS and filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy subsequently, Halsey Minor — an American serial tech entrepreneur from the 1990s dotcom boom era — has seen it all. His next big bet is digital finance, which he describes as the "last frontier of internet", with all other consumer-facing segments having been already tapped.

No New Trial for Man Behind Illicit Silk Road Website

http://www.ndtv.com/world-news/no-new-trial-for-man-behind-illicit-silk-road-website-758978

A Manhattan federal judge has denied a request for a new trial for Ross Ulbricht, the man convicted of being the mastermind behind the Silk Road online black market for illegal drugs

Calling evidence of Ulbricht's guilt "overwhelming," U.S. District Judge Katherine Forrest on Monday night rejected arguments that the defendant was improperly denied the right to review materials demonstrating his innocence, or examine alleged corruption by two "rogue" federal agents involved in the case.
1194  Local / Press & News from India / Re: **IMPORTANT**URGENT** Support needed to defend the stance of bitcoin in India on: May 04, 2015, 01:37:19 PM
I think you should order the articles in such a way
1) RBI releases, articles containing comments made by RBI
2) Articles in mainstream Indian publications (Economic Times, Business Standard, Hindu, etc)
3) Articles in crypto magazines.

The reason I say this is because the credibility of crypto publications in the eyes of the RBI may be low.

Some comments made by Raghuram Rajan on Bitcoin can be found here

On a lighter note, you should take care of your decimals.

1196  Economy / Services / Re: Solve these 3 math problems and get 0.1 btc (set theory-not too difficult) on: May 03, 2015, 11:34:52 PM
Thanks! That was helpful

(a)
(5,0) - Xo
(17,0) - Xo
(18,0) - Xe

To check the solution, we can list down the antecedents of (5,0)
(4,1), (3,0), (2,1), (1,0), (0,1)
So (5,0) has 5 antecedents and our answer is correct.

So the element (x,0) can be defined to fall under
Xe:  x is even
Xo: x is odd
Xi is a null set

(b) Similarly (y,1) can be define to fall under
Ye: y is even
Yo: y is odd
Yi is a null set

(c) The bijection is defined as
F(x,0) = (x+1,1), if x is even
F(x,0) = (x-1,1), if x is odd.

Nice! I think that could be it.. I'm sending coins now:)
Get the last one and you'll get the full 0.1

Payment received. Thank you.

Could you help me with the notation for the third question.
What is Xe, Xo, Xi?
Have they been defined elsewhere?
1198  Economy / Services / Re: Solve these 3 math problems and get 0.1 btc (set theory-not too difficult) on: May 03, 2015, 03:01:29 PM
Here goes my attempt at proposition 6.7

Proof that the function is injective
Let F(S) = F(T) = A (which belongs to P(X))

Given the definition of F, we note that S is defined by
S(x) = 1, for all x belongs to A
S(x) = 0, for all x does not belong to A

We also note that since F(T) = A, T is defined by
T(x) = 1, for all x belongs to A
T(x) = 0, for all x does not belong to A

Since the definitions of S and T are identical, we conclude that S = T

Proof that the function is surjective
Let A belong to P(X)
Define the function J from X into |-2-| such that
J (x) = 1, for all x belongs to A
J (x) = 0, for all x does not belong to A

We note that F(J) = A, for any A
Hence F is surjective.

Since F is injective and surjective, it is bijective.

Some small clarifications with respect to the first question

1) What is under your fingertips in the scanned image?
2) Does |-2-| indicate the set with just 2 elements {0,1}?
3) Is P(X) defined elsewhere?
