Jeez, down for ten minutes and people think we are packing up shop, really?  Even when the website itself was still up?

Now I get why I got a cold welcome during bitcointalk registration. This place is actually horrible. Yea BTC is beautiful, but damn man, who are these people?

Bitcointalk is a wretched hive of scum and villainy like no other.  Or some old raver with a glow stick told me.

Website is going to be down for up to an hour.  Mining should continue just fine and stats will update after the server comes back up.
1184  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement - ASIC mining processor by Butterfly Labs on: January 29, 2013, 06:26:58 AM
Forums are going to be down for a bit.  I'm bringing the box down to install more physical ram and work on a couple other things.  Shouldn't be more than an hour (hopefully much less than that)

1185  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL, Box of fans and Avalon trolling: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 06:09:55 AM
This is a troll thread (so I'm livin' it up) and there's nothing to win.. you post bullshit constantly. You have a pathological inability to post facts without inserting your false information.  Stop posting bullshit and we won't have anything to talk about.  Unfortunately, I doubt you can resist posting lies and crap.

Did I touch a nerve, poor little guy?  You must live such a sad life, I'd say I feel pit for you, but I don't.  You're nothing but trash and your fate in life is of your own making.

I find it curious that you keep wanting so desperately for me to be "angry."  Is it because you are angry and you can't bear the thought of me not also being angry?  Do you bang out reply after reply, trying so desperately to be a part of something?  Is that why you're angry and want to project that on to everyone else?  I mean, look at you.  Posting the same pictures over and over in a desperate attempt to legitimize your laughingly penned missives towards me. Too bad no one is buying it and you continue your sad little existence, trying in vain to be someone.

1186  Other / Off-topic / Re: Meanwhile in my bedroom.... [Possible NSFW] on: January 29, 2013, 05:56:44 AM
Shoe on head.  It's the only way to be sure.
1187  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL, Box of fans and Avalon trolling: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 05:53:42 AM
Baloney. All pictures even those used by Bitcoin magazine were provided by BFL.

Oh, so the picture you are so fond of trotting out with me in the back ground at CES was supplied by BFL?  Good to know.  Idiot.

Quote
You showed blown chips. Chips that didn't work as intended.

You seem to miss the obvious points.

Your point being?  Has Avalon shown working chips?  What's that?  They haven't?  Guess you're full of shit.

Quote
That is your artistic interpretation. I reject your interpretation.

That's fine, you're good at rejecting facts.  God forbid reality get in the way of your delusions.

Quote
Until:

---Jeff receives his unit. Then reviews it
---Avalon miners receive theirs.
---Avalon customers post copious photos and videos online. Much to BFL's detriment.

At that point you just "magically" turn into an irate Rep with a bad attitude and load of chips and a history of ASICs that never quite worked right over something....like 120 days..

I feel sorry for you.

Love your waffling.  "UNTIL!"  OMG!!  Yes, until indeed.  So far, nothing, nada... not even a tracking number, which you think someone would have after spending $400 to ship 1 unit.

What's even funnier is by the time all the Avalon first batch customers receive their units, it looks like BFL's units will already be in our customers hands.  Yeah, Avalon's fake "shipping" on the 21st is working out well.  A week later and nothing has shown up anywhere, not even a tracking number.

Quote
You seem to be emotionally invested in this argument.

I know that was a sensitive spot in your armor and reputation.  Cheesy

Yes, you do seem emotionally invested in it.  You are defending a company that has:

A) Designed an exceptionally inferior product
B) Purchased said product
C) No one has received said product
D) No one has received a tracking number
E) No one has received the product for review, even a test unit

Basically, you have paid for the same service you are bitching about BFL for, but you've paid for an inferior product.  Yeah, and I'm emotionally invested.

Quote
I believe the joke may be on you when you realize why it is so big. Wink

<chuckled a bit there>

By the way, 4U refers to height in a Server Rack.

Oh, I wait with bated breath to learn why it's so big.  Oh wait, we already know... they use 110nm process and require a ton of chips and power, and all the associated cooling that goes with it.  There's likely more than one board in that chassis.  What is your point you are trying to make (besides the one on the top of your head) with regards to 4U?  Are you seriously trying to deny the fact that the Avalon unit is 4U high?  Seriously?  Look at the PSU... a PSU on it's side is, wait for it... almost 4U high.  Add in the height of the top and bottom panels and you have, you guessed it, a 4U high monstrosity.  Duh.  Idiot.

Quote
That is why you take moment of your life to answer my messages.

What if you just didn't...I wonder what would happen?

Nothing would happen.  You would be forgotten, because you provide zero value to this world, much less Bitcointalk.  Your sole existence appears is focused around responding to messages on Bitcointalk, for which you do not get paid and have no vested interest in.  You have an unnatural, unhealthy fixation on me and the company I work for.  You can't resist responding to the majority of the posts I make and you continually manufacture false information and lies to somehow figure a way to insert yourself into the conversation.  It makes no matter that your lies are transparent, easily disproved or otherwise blatantly and obviously false.  You don't care, you just want the attention and to feel special for being part of the conversation.  Like I said in the past, I get paid to be here.. it's my job, what is your excuse?

I wonder what would happen indeed?

Quote
It is a bit of a surprise, my angry friend. Wink

You keep saying this. I don't think you understand what anger is.  Take a moment of self reflection and you might understand it better... or maybe that's just self loathing you feel.  Either way, it makes no matter.  You're here, flinging about bullshit and lies.  I'm here, destroying your bullshit repeatedly.  I get paid to do it, you are doing it because you are too stupid to realize nearly everything you write is ridiculous.

At least Avalon has fans + metal box + a power supply and working ASIC chips.

Avalon has shown pictures of their device. So did BFL.

They have?  Can you point to a picture that wasn't supplied by Avalon?  You can't?  Oh, then you're full of shit.

Quote
Avalon showed their fab contract. BFL never did.

Yes, because we have shown actual chips before Avalon ever showed their contract, so it's kind of moot, isn't it?

Quote
Avalon has shown a box with fans and a power supply including boards populated with ASICs.

No they haven't.  They have shown a "picture" of what they claim is this.  We have actually SHOWN this... there is a difference.

Quote
When someone noticed the chips were blown, you called them a myriad of names for implying they weren't any good....a few weeks later in October BitCoinINV filed a complaint with the general attorney and that forced BFL to respond with information that they didn't yet have a working prototype.

False.  BitcoinINV filed a complaint because he's a whiny attention whoring bitch.  He never asked for a refund, which we would have given.  He just wanted attention and the Attorney General did nothing but laugh at his complaint and send him a form letter.

Quote
Then adding to the humiliation, you were forced to admit that the ASICs you had shown did not in fact work. People had a field day laughing about that.

The only one laughing is the BFL clown posse. Waaaa... how's your Avalon hashing for you?  Oh, what's that? You don't have one?  I guess you're full of shit.

Quote
Avalon is in a better position than you imagine. They showed their contract papers for their order of ASIC chips. A little over a month later, they had pictures of working ASICs that have shipped. They even named some of the first recipients by name.

Right, so I show you a piece of paper and all is well?  Get real you lying sack of shit.

Quote
Unless you want to redefine what is "proof". I suggest you back down and check the absurd attitude.

I suggest you check what proof is.  A photograph, according to you, is not proof. But wait, it IS proof when it's the device YOU have ordered.  Haha, but deep down you know you ordered a piece of shit and now you are a sad panda. It's ok little man, you'll get your giant 4U chassis full of chips soon enough, I am sure.  Have fun stacking those things in your basement, especially in that hot Texas sun this summer.  I could literally stack up 16 BFL Single SC units, providing nearly 1 TH of hasing in the same volume and a bit more power than the space your one Avalon unit takes up.  You go on and enjoy that, heh.

Quote
Am I having a ridiculous nonsensical argument with the head of PR at BFL? You bet your ass I am!

Yes you are, for sure.  You are the master of nonsense and bullshit.

Quote
When Jeff gets his rig, I guess that means that you no longer have that argument to stand behind, correct?

PuertoLibre: But but!  But!  When Avalon ships you'll be sorry!  Yes you will! You'll be so sorry!  You'll see!

1190  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL, Box of fans and Avalon trolling: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 02:47:19 AM
Sorry mem, among your other mental illnesses is your ability to gauge size.  The minirig SC, which is 1.5 TH is the same size as the Avalon unit, which is 66 GH.  Actually, I think the minirig might even be smaller than the Avalon unit.  Now THAT's funny.
1191  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 02:08:44 AM
Quote
The size of the unit itself may be the part that gets you into trouble with your own customers.

Heh.

It will hopefully be funny when the review comes out and BFLs size becomes it's biggest limitation. (assuming it doesn't also overheat in that little clam-shell of a box)

EDIT: BFL forums is down? Perhaps they ran for the hills??

Yes, because this makes sense.  Do you even read what you write?  We offer a box that's a bit over 92mm square and 75mm high, compared to a 4U minitower and somehow people will be pissed? Right...
Yes, my good sir, exactly correct.

Quote
Hahahaha now that's comedy gold - cause all you have to sell are boxes with fans

As of right now, it's a hell of a lot more than Avalon has.

Really?

I suppose we shall soon know, right?  Grin

Yes, really.  Have you seen an Avalon in real life?  Plenty of people have seen OUR box of fans in real life.  No one has yet seen an Avalon in person.  So yes, we have more than Avalon currently.

I mean, shit, our box of fans has 18 fans, a power supply, a Nexus 7 tablet and some trays to put your pies on (to cool them with the fans of course) ... what's Avalon got?  A picture of two fans and what appears to be a power supply and a few sheets of metal and some screws.

1192  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Announcement - ASIC mining processor by Butterfly Labs on: January 29, 2013, 01:55:51 AM
I was rebooting the box the forums run on to add some memory to speed things up.  It took a few minutes longer than I anticipated, sorry about that.  Jeez, down for ten minutes and people think we are packing up shop, really?  Even when the website itself was still up?

1196  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 29, 2013, 12:08:57 AM
You could certainly fit a Nexus 7 on the front.  I mean, the thing is the size of a Minirig SC.  Heh... a BFL single with power brick at the same GH/s is smaller than the PSU of the Avalon.  Comedy gold.

But I digress... with regards to buying out all the supplies of capacitors/resistors/etc... it's entirely possible.  BFL ran into the same problem.  It's not the fact that there are no resistors/capacitors/other parts available - there are.  There just aren't those parts in the foot print and profile the board is designed for.  So a 2mm cap may not be available, while a 2.5mm one is, but it won't fit on your board.  It's something we've very carefully worked out on our ASIC boards so that we don't run into supply issues again.  Most of the parts that could potentially run into those issues have been designed with a footprint area that can be exchanged for different parts if need be.  Our power and USB pads are an example of this.. they were designed in such a way so that we could swap out power, USB or something else entirely if we need to and not be constrained by the components around it in terms of footprint.

Although, with a limited run of 300 units, running a supplier out of parts seems pretty crazy, I will admit.  Unless there's like 1500 parts per unit.  Given the size, it's quite possible, but without seeing what's inside, who's to say?

EDIT: blew a gasket. Stalkers went to far. Issue has been moderated
Don't be concerned - re: blowing a gasket.
When I saw that picture - it was clear that it 'could' be you and I was thinking WTF why is someone posting a picture of you ...
Seriously some of the crap posted in here gets WAY too personal in people's details for no reason at all.
It is not very hard to track down information about anyone ... the real point is that people think they can hide and not have others 'return the favour'
(of course returning the favour is pretty much as bad as doing it in the first place)
Agreed.

One thing is the internet banter which comes and goes...and another is unwanted attention caused by releasing personal information about someone on the forum.

I understand how Dob feels about it and therefore can fully sympathize with him.

--------------

A few years ago on a forum I helped maintain, there was a DIA (assistant director at the time if I recall correctly) I used to have banter with through one of his close friends.

There isn't a pic of him on the net as far as I know. Hell, I think there are only two photographs of him and one obscure video of him at some D.A.R.P.A. lab (or something like that in the 1980's).

Anyway, some investigative reporter got in contact through a mutual friend and someone apparently leaked the guys home address in some back office file. (Never made it on the internet) I heard there was some incident where someone *really crazy* ran at the guy with a mask of some kind and what the friend said was some kind of handle with an axe. (sketchy memory on the details these days)

Apparently some psycho got the guys unlisted data and tried to attack him or his wife in their driveway.

FBI investigated into it but I do not know if they ever identified the culprit. All my info is second hand so I don't know what went on.

------------------

Moral of the story is to never post your details on any site and don't encourage others to engage in dox'ing.

There are many crazy ass people in the world and some are clearly dangerous and unbalanced.

The net is just some place where people usually post crap without meaning and should always be kept separate from real life psychos. Dox-ed individuals put themselves in danger.

I personally don't like any social networks that ask for invasive details.

Haha this coming from one of the most unbalanced stalkers on BitcoinTalk.  You should listen to him folks, he knows what the heck he is talking about from first hand experience in stalking others.

1200  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Avalon ASIC Ships on: January 26, 2013, 07:09:30 PM
See, it's posts like the above that make me think you are literally mentally retarded.  You just start spewing bullshit that has disconnected from anything that was previously posted, it's incredible.  You can't help yourself from either lying or being so misinformed that you are just an idiot.

Lets look at what you've written:

Quote
I believe it is just a coincidence that you have stated a dozen or so times that BFL would remain competitive with any competitors offerings.

Then coincidentally raised your specs [50%] from 40 to 60 to meet Avalons 60Gh/s. (at that time)

Purely by Coincidence of course?

Yes, we've stated that, and as I've already pointed out, we raised it because of bASIC, not Avalon.  We did not give a crap about 66 GH/s at $2000.  We did, however, give a crap about 54 GH/s at $1069.  If you can't see the difference and why this is, I can't help you.  Please go back to elementary math.

Quote
bASIC remained at 54Gh/s until just recently. In December they took on the initiative to produce a redesign for 72Gh/s before they imploded due to customer concerns and refunds.

Perhaps what you are actually leading me to believe is that BFL does not intentionally compete with certain ASIC companies? A strange admittance coming from you.

Then I suppose you no longer have a competitor and don't need to worry about Avalon raising it's specs up to 66Gh/s. BFL customer will be glad to know they will not have to worry about you "over-competing" with the now defunct ASIC player.

I wonder if this is good news. Or if you are losing your marbles?

Do you actually read what you write?  This is incoherent babbling for the most part, but that's not surprising coming from you.  Especially now that you're in panic mode that your Avalons actually are pieces of shit and they apparently haven't shipped on time, either.  (remains to be seen on the shipping)...

bASIC did not take the initiative in December with 72 GH/s... we knew it was all bullshit then, which is why I stated we would match a shipping product.  There is simply no way for Tom to have shipped a 72 GH/s product at 120w at 90nm structured ASIC... sorry.  Anyone with any common sense knew this was impossible, except you, but you never had common sense, so it's not surprising.  But you're right, Avalon is not a competitor at 400w for 66 GH/s at $1299 or especially $1499.  Does that mean we won't raise the speed on our units? I  don't know, we haven't decided yet... but if it do it's not because of Avalon heh.

Quote
So Avalon competes with BFL....but BFL does not compete with Avalon.

Quite the strange tale you are admitting to.

(By the way, they raised the price to $1499 for the next batch. I wonder why they would be crazy enough to do that?)

No, at 400w at $1999 price point, Avalon does not compete with BFL that is correct, since we are talking about the past here... or are you too stupid to figure that out?  Be that as it may, I suspect they are raising the price to $1499 because it's costing them more than $1299 to manufacture their giant monstrosity of a mining platform and they are losing money or barely making any profit, meaning they will never recoup their development costs.

Quote
I also recall someone at BFL stating that they had given 20GH/s extra as compensation for delays. Which amounted to 45 days at the time. Now that you are approaching 90 days, I supposed BFL will do the right thing and overclock yet again to compensate their good (and patient) customers with another 20GH/s. Bringing your total to about 80Gh/s.

Quite possibly, yes.

Quote
Strangely enough it seems every time you bump the specs...new troubles arise.

Heh... yes, it happened once, so that make a trend.  God you are such an idiot.
