1182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? on: October 26, 2023, 04:35:46 PM
Do you keep a record of winnings and losses in gambling? Many here will feel that this is waste of time and will also not let them enjoy the game peacefully. Do you also have same mentality?
I dont.

But I am also sure that the majority of the people who are gambling everyday also do not. Because having to calculate cumulative losses which is obviously greater than the cumulative profit is a excruciatingly painful process even such that the person might just stop in the middle and not come back to doing it.

Players who are in EV+ games regularly do this though, they are less impulsive and more calculating. Still then they lose because the luck factor also works there.
1183  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK passes bill to enable authorities to seize Bitcoin used for crime on: October 26, 2023, 04:32:19 PM
That recovery of assets without conviction put me off. I would like to see the faces of criminals who stole innocent people's money getting punished rather than just the recovery. The machinery for this recovery mechanism is also not mentioned clearly, because that would need cooperation between exchanges, mixers and the store where they are spent.

These are foundations of a crypto-friendly legal system that may be an upcoming thing.  Cool
1184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible to build a career with bitcoin? on: October 26, 2023, 04:26:51 PM
I know how hard it is to make money and if it is to sweat your head and work day and night, then it is worth it. And we can make a lot of income by buying or trading bitcoin with the right rules. I think bitcoin is a bright future for us.
A good trade indeed, if that has happened in real and they have not wasted the money on hookers or anything like that.

I know the Bangaldeshi users are having a notion that bitcoin and earning them through campaigns is like a job and so is trading for them. please exercise caution here, this forum is not a permanent thing, who knows what might happen in future and so is trading. Always try to get yourself a job or take over your ancestors business in order to start a stable line of income and then keep crypto as a side hustle not the main.

You can build a career from this, but it depends on how you define that career.
1185  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: What are your true odds of hitting 10000 at freebitco.in? on: October 25, 2023, 06:48:13 PM
Still haven't hit the 10k 😁 been rolling for years...
For everyone reading this thread, I had hit 10000 on freebitcoin a long time back in Oct 2016 and made a thread about it. It is strange why people seem to forget these things after a while. I dont frequent these sections anymore and hence I am coming across this thread now, otherwise I would have informed the OP already, who seem to have left for now.

Please read - Got 200$ from Freebitcoin today morning, call that a BIG WIN

Freebitco.in is a legit site without a doubt. Wink
1186  Local / India / Re: Discussing about Bitcoin to Friends and Relatives. on: October 25, 2023, 04:37:51 PM
My understanding is that everyone in the present generation is aware of Bitcoin and its benefits. Those who question it are our Uncles and Aunts, that is why it is better to leave them.
The less people get involved in bitcoin the better for us bitcoiners as well.

Think of it this way, if you are the one accumulating bitcoin and not your friends a time will come when they will also need to buy but have no sellers available. Then you can dump on them for a huge price. Its like a hidden wet dream of many bitcoin users, which may not actually happen but is always possible.
1187  Local / India / Re: Hindustan Petroleum Launching Blockhain based POs on: October 25, 2023, 04:35:13 PM
It is another example of application of blockchain into the existing systems and hence development of the same. This has been happening over the last 5-6 years in many sectors and HP is the next one on the ever-increasing list.

However the sad part is that even though the government here is lenient about blockchain based systems they are not so lenient about bitcoin and its transactions.

Anyway getting to know development is always a good news.

Also, correct the spelling of blockchain in the thread title.
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 04:28:35 PM
When the paranoia is high the method to clear it is to see that you keep your feet on the ground.

Just count your options, you have a family you have a future and you need to survive, so either you can die fighting or you can accept the KYC system that may come up and continue to use bitcoin and live a happy life.

I am also not a fan of KYC but consider why you would not want to undergo it. Unless you are involved in money laundering yourself, you can be proud of your bitcoin and how you earned them. The KYC debate has been going on for long, and I dont find any fruitful discussion from it which is why I dont comment. But regulation is the future and this is how things might start off.

Mixers are their main target, small cap investors need not bother, in my opinion.

I personally am not from the US and I doubt how far this will actually go. Grin
1189  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Scam/Phishing Avalaunch Website on: October 25, 2023, 04:22:09 PM
Similar templates have been used by scammers and since there is no policing of the net, side-effect of free speech, we have similar looking site pop up to fool a unsuspecting newbie. Obviously this is profitable for the scammers because the buying price for a number of domains and the profit from scamming even a single newbie breaks even and crosses it as well. Hence their motivation to continue to scam from their own pocket. It is likened to an investment.

Although the above site will get reported by many of the forum members here, another hydra head will come up. That should not deter us from getting weary and keep spreading the word about such scams.
1190  Economy / Services / Re: Moderator Wanted - Site Development and Community Building on: October 25, 2023, 04:16:05 PM
What are trying to achieve here mate?

You set up the domain as a forum for crypto related stuff and then try to sell it and then when you find no buyers, you try to hire a moderator position for that. I think you are mixing it all up in terms of the sequence of events. You consolidate a domain, set up the forum software and then you hire the mod positions.

That forum last few posts seem to be AI spam as well.

Do you even own this forum or are you just pretending to be the one owning it?
Sign a message from that forum for your own sake if you want to prove even an ounce of legitimacy.
1191  Local / India / Re: Discussing about Bitcoin to Friends and Relatives. on: October 24, 2023, 05:42:26 AM
Because if you do not give them a warning, they may blame you later.
True, its easy for newbie traders even if from your own family to point the finger on you and blaming you for their loss.

The best method is to wait for them to come up with the idea of investing, you will then guide them on how to proceed instead of you force-feeding them and ending up being a tinfoil hat person. Grin
1192  Local / India / Re: How do you convert your BTC and cryptos to INR on: October 24, 2023, 05:40:35 AM
I am planning to shift my base from the existing International exchange to it or might use both as per my requirement.
KYC on the international exchanges is a complete skin-crawl moment as soon as you hear it. I have been watching as some of them are setting up bases in India too but eventually moving away in a short span of 2-3 years. This reduces the number of competitive exchanges on the field and allows the government to come up with shitty tax regimens.

Maybe a lot of factors are involved here, that we are unable to fathom, but its better not to sell at this point if you fiat income is enough to cover your costs of daily. That 30% "loss" we can incur, could possibly change in future.

Have been holding for long, why not a little longer?
1193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A Nigeria socialite went all in on this sport bet on: October 24, 2023, 05:32:37 AM
Stuff like these get posted on social media all the time. I understand the OP's concern, being from a developing country the youth need to focus their energy and money on things that can help develop the country rather than wasting it on unnecessary spending. Since the youth get indirectly influenced by such posts, hence the need to make them aware.

I would suggest the OP to do as much as they can in making the younger generation know the good and bad things about gambling and what effect it can have if done without experience. Celebs make money by making a fool of their followers but there is very little you can do to stop this, its human nature to follow celebs like this.
1194  Economy / Economics / Re: What does being rich mean in your perspective? on: October 24, 2023, 05:26:30 AM
Coming from the economics perspective and why we all are here, rich means owning assets whose cumulative value is much higher than the average person in your country can more like <10% can afford.

But in the semantics, rich can mean having plenty of something, that can be money, power, a big heart and so on. But we are not here for that at all.

Hence its all a matter of how you see things. But if you want to get rich, none of the above two are easy.
1195  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Phishing Stake.com Giveaway on: October 24, 2023, 05:20:02 AM
It'd be nice if there was a community-driven thread (Or datadump) thats easily maintained of all phishing attempts with relevant information to streamline this process and keep everyone else informed.
This section is dedicated for the same along with many other scams that get reported, all by the community itself and thus a fair judgement of the products. Reporting phishing sites has been made newbie-friendly in many threads here and it needs a little bit of practice from any one and then its a piece of cake.

It is why newbies should get accustomed to this section of the forum, useful in keeping track of ongoing reports.
1196  Local / India / Re: Kerala HC Shields Innocent Crypto Traders From Account Freezes on: October 23, 2023, 10:07:28 AM
IMPS and NEFT are not included here, this is only for those who used UPI and got crypto transactions done through UPI only.

The news article is a welcome treat for many users in my opinion who got bank accounts frozen due to bullshit reasons. We are moving towards a more crypto-streamlined economic system in this country which is in need considering the rise of crypto in the dark.

Possibly in future the other methods of transacting will also get included, fingers crossed.
1197  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the fall of Elon Musk's empire imminent? on: October 23, 2023, 09:59:23 AM
Even if a space psycho loses it all, it does not mean anything good for you. They are just going to build something else and continue their share of profit by shilling their new product and attach a decent "crypto" tag with that in order to pump another currency. And while this same cycle which we already experienced "recycles", some brain-dead people will buy into them hoping for some quick cash.

You can see tech giant owners move from one to another, you can never keep track of them all, hence dont bother, unless of course you got shares in Telsa and Twitter, in which case you might be in a soup.
1198  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Warning]: Phishing Stake.com Giveaway on: October 23, 2023, 09:55:56 AM
Websites like these pop up everyday and get posted on stinky corners of the internet and social media to lure out newbies who are gullible enough to fall for them. Although the stake hack and theft has got nothing related to this, apart from raising Stake's moniker on news media once again after the primedice hack, people should be careful what they are stepping into.

Of course the more famous you are on crypto the more scams will happen impersonating you. So if any newbie reads this, the above mentioned site is a scam and should be avoided and that new "friend" of yours on telegram should be blocked (why even bother reading their message? Huh)

Reported the same from my side, hope everyone else follows suit.
1199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Educate yourself to be a frugal gambler on: October 23, 2023, 09:46:26 AM
in this always goes the word "easier said than done"

because while the truth is we must just enjoy gambling but the thing is majority of the gamblers are seeking for money when they gamble and not the other way around.
to have fun? yeah it is but do you really handle this?
that you only play to have fun and enjoy?answer it for yourself first.
Its clearly understandable that gamblers are anything but frugal spenders. They once addicted will spend more than they can afford and its something that they cannot control. A frugal person on the other than will budget and spend as per need trying to save every penny at every instance so much so that they become obsessed with savings.

The better term is bankroll management and again another concept less understood by gamblers who regularly play EV- games and burn their sats on slot machines and dice rolls.
1200  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Before you take sides on: October 23, 2023, 09:41:53 AM
This whole situation is aggravated by the fact that we are in the world of cryptocurrencies, and this world is inextricably linked with anonymity. We have already seen a lot of scam: profiles of non-real people on the web, which were created in order for everything to be put there in their projects, and then they disappeared. Unfortunately, this is the dark side of freedom in the world of cryptocurrencies.
Therefore, I prefer not to believe everything I read, both here on the forum, and especially in the news of influencers.

Casinos who have gone scam have been scam from the beginning, they got caught eventually and then the sufferers are the ones who were playing on it. Thing is that you should stick to well-repuated and old casinos before jumping into new ones. With so many of them coming up who is going to certify something as genuine or not? The forum cryptographers who are tech-savvy and are well versed with provably fair systems can help you decide in this regard.

Genuine casinos will ban users who try to exploit or cheat the system. There is nothing wrong in this and all such cases the casino gets public support.

The news of influencers should never be taken at face value, heck anything that you see or hear should be questioned and observed before accepting.
