1181  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin loss? on: October 02, 2017, 03:19:39 AM
Won't that bring a problem the the economics, no coins left to trade situations?

But one BTC property that is often overlooked is that its also divisible by 8 decimal places. So how can you say that there is going to be no coin left to trade? There will be quadrillions or more left.

Dont worry about the supply, BTC1 is worth 100 million satoshis.

1182  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: there are several payment teams doing ICO, how do you think these projects on: October 02, 2017, 02:48:42 AM
Some advice for all my fellow forumites. If an ICO is started by unknown developers in the community then dont invest any BTC or ETH in them. You will be scammed.

Do your research and know the people behind them. A good example of a safe ICO to invest into is CVC. Its CEO, Vinny Lingham is known in the BTC community and would less likely to be a scammer.
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Burstcoin [BURST] Price Speculation on: October 01, 2017, 04:04:45 AM
Some volume have started coming back in Burst showing that there are whales starting to buy in again. The buyers of the latest pump to BTC.00004 doesnt look like they will sell their holdings at this time, so Rico's forecast might hold true.

I am not as optimistic as him but my hopes are high. My own prediction is BTC.00005 per Burst by the end of 2017.
1184  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burst | Efficient HDD Mining | New 1.2.3 Fork block 92000 on: October 01, 2017, 03:17:06 AM
https://www.reddit.com/r/burstcoin/comments/72oql0/would_it_be_a_good_idea_if_the_pocc_started_a_new/

According to him, copying NXT's strategy with Ardor by starting another blockchain project can be a better way than continuing on with the development of Burst. Do you agree?

I made a comment there on behalf of the PoCC. Obviously we disagree:

Quote
I would like to comment on all of this on PoCC's behalf.

Some of you use formulations like "I'd like to see", "I propose we start", "I believe XXX is better", "We should..." and the like. Well - roll up your sleeves and start working. Good luck.

Everyone else listen up:

There is no fighting between BURST developers. Developers respect each other because they know 1st hand experience that development is a demanding process that requires way more skills and discipline than just babbling around. Those who are no developers and just managed to learn how to babble around will sooner or later become irrelevant to the project, because they bring nothing to the table. Their stakes will become obsolete.

There will be no new PoC coin from the PoCC. Not in the foreseeable future. Nothing like that is planned. No new blockchain. So either you start to love BURST or you find yourself a new girlfriend.

Ok, we may rework BURST from the ground up leaving no stone unturned, we may even give the child a new name or do some rebranding at some point in the far far future. Please read up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus to enhance your understanding of the terms "new" and "the same" - and maybe to understand what will happen to BURST.

Still, we have no dogma or ideology that would prevent us from blatantly stealing the best concepts of other crypto coins and use them for BURST. Fortunately we are experienced enough to not succumb to some "not invented here" syndrome.

So anyone writing off BURST and hoping for some miracle new coin, is making a terrible mistake. We know that and we're telling you. All you have to do is to believe. The sooner you do, the more profit you'll make. One thing we can't do, is to blatantly steal some great community of some other coin. Just yesterday we discussed how technically bad Doge is in comparison with BURST. There is no single technological aspect, where BURST wouldn't blow Doge out of the water.

Yet, Doge has like 10 times the market cap of BURST. Maybe it's their great community? They fundraise for some poor bobsled teams, bring their coin to the moon - like for real, etc.. And at least we are not aware of any war rages within their community.
https://imnotdead.co.uk/blog/coinomi
So if you want a great PoC coin, and if you are no developer, then simply make yourself heard in the BURST community that you do not want or accept people who spread hatred, FUD or whatever. That applies for everyone, be them the PoCC, Burst-Team or BurstNation.

There may be ideological differences, but for the time being we HAVE TO and WILL live on the same blockchain.

Good reply. Your post clearly shows the commitment of the PoCC in developing Burst into a top cryptocurrency. But I dont think that the fa-yerrr guy on Reddit is wrong in trying to create a controversial discussion because he was wrongly informed about Burst's distribution.
1185  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Wallet help on: October 01, 2017, 03:05:46 AM
Anyone can help me pick out a good mobile wallet..I know this question has been asked a lot but I want to know from personal experience.
I'm receiving a good amount of btc from cloud mining and where I live they just installed a bitcoin ATM and wanted to know what's a good wallet. Tryed jaxx but it didn't let me send my btc out had to take private key to send to my exodus wallet.
Any help it useful thanks

i don't have any problem for using jaxx even for sending or receiving. the other wallet recommendation is mycelium or coinomi. mycelium is the same jaxx but don't have other coin and its saving btc only. but coinomi have a big list of altcoins so if you decide to buy altcoin, you can directly buy in that wallet.

I second Coinomi. Its a more secure solution than Jaxx. In case some of you didnt know theres a vulnerability in Jaxx that can extract and read your seed in plain text.

https://vxlabs.com/2017/06/10/extracting-the-jaxx-12-word-wallet-backup-phrase/

If they updated their wallet then good. Disregard this post.

I take it back. I dont recommend Coinomi anymore. Apparently they have been using Electrum based servers but without SSL enabled. This is bad because all the packets of data you send over the internet can be sniffed and be seen in plain text.

Coinomi was informed by a developer named John Sterling but Conomi didnt handle the situation very well. They acted unprofessionally and immaturely. PR suicide commited.

1186  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I have a cracking idea but know very little about crypto currencies on: October 01, 2017, 02:55:01 AM
People really do tend to overestimate how good their ideas are. Its better to start by telling everyone what your idea is and let them tell you why its not a good idea.

There's a 90% chance that your idea is already considered no good by someone else, or if it was really good, it will still fail.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilpatel/2015/01/16/90-of-startups-will-fail-heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-the-10/#4498b9106679

I have an idea to disrupt the way society has organized and structured around central power for thousands of years.

After reading this half mocking post, you give the impression that you have realized that your secret idea isnt as good as you first thought it was. Thats good because you will move on into thinking about other ideas which may be more viable.
1187  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Warning] About Coinomi on: October 01, 2017, 02:50:46 AM
Have you found some reliable alternatives for it? Because I found Coinomi after searching a lot.

You have Exodus which support multiple coins as well but they only work in Desktop for the moment and there is Jaxx which you probably heard of before but they also faced a hack in the past (I believe private keys are stored in their servers) but they support phones so It's up to you.

No they are putting the Jaxx hack out of context. It could be the person who reported it transferred his own funds to another wallet and claimed he has hacked. In fact the report was questionable because it was made right after the discovery that your Jaxx seeds could be extracted in plain text.

The private keys are not stored in their servers. Please read up on it before you post. Its easy.

1189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Help me find more altcoins with unique features. on: September 30, 2017, 01:29:52 PM
I'm not aware of a project doing what Golem is trying to accomplish, which is create of network were people can share unused CPU power to earn Golem tokens.  There might be a token I'm not aware of, though.  The other place to find unique features is the privacy coin arena, where each coin is trying to accomplish the same thing (total anonymity), but going about it different ways.

I like the idea behind Golem but its not really that unique. Are you aware of the project called Elastic? I like them better because they have working code, while Golem doesnt.

But I heard they are going to be in the "execution stage" soon whatever that means. I just saw it in their Twitter announcement.

This does not look good. This is the mobile wallet I use and this is what I recommend that everyone use. I know that there will always be vulnerabilities in any software but its the handling of the situation that had me peeved. I hope they fix it and behave more professionally next time.

1194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Help me find more altcoins with unique features. on: September 29, 2017, 03:03:45 AM
Greetings my fellow forumites. Please help me find new altcoins that have unique features and please tell me why. I am hodling Burst because its the only altcoin that uses the hard drive with Proof of Capacity for its mining mechanism. I think it will have a good future now that a new set of developers, that call themselves the PoCC, has taken over.

Tell me what other altcoins have that same level of uniqueness as Burst?

Rico666, coding in Haskell is also a hot topic for some group of developers who work on cryptocurrencies. I found this video on Youtube while browsing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wjyiOXRuUdo

I also found this thread about starting a new Proof of Capacity chain in Burst's Reddit that might be of interest to you, or not, but it could start a good discussion on the topic.

Greetings everyone, new Burst holder here. While I agree that the blog is another shill piece made by someone who wants to hype the coin, you have to concede that Burst is accumulating and getting ready for another upsurge.

The mood is changing from within their community now that the PoCC is leading the development. I think they can do a marvelous job with Burst and bring it where it should be in value.

Rico666, thank you so much for the thorough explanation and for the whole backstory on Crowetic. That explains so much. Anyway, is there a new implementation besides the one written in Java? Compatibility is nice but the wallet is slow, dont you think?
1199  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Any latest updates on Poloniex's withdrawal problems? on: September 28, 2017, 12:30:27 AM
I want to start trading on Poloniex again but I want to know if the delays with withdrawals are fixed. I havent seen any new threads complaining about them, so is it safe to assume that everything is safe and good with them?

People have been bumping the regular threads. More importantly, check the replies to their Twitter posts or the Poloniex subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/PoloniexForum/

The front page is brutal. People are still waiting 3-4 months on unanswered tickets. Stuck withdrawals for long periods are still a regular thing. There is talk of filing a class action lawsuit against them at this point. I saw a thread recently where someone was trying to show up at their offices (MT Gox style) and there was no real office. He was able to find a firm in the building that acted as agent for service for Poloniex, and apparently the lawyer he spoke with said he wasn't the first one who has come looking for them.

For now, I'm sticking to Bittrex and Shapeshift.

This looks bad. Some of their users are thinking that they might have been hacked and theyre not telling the community about it. But I still think their problems are mainly technical. Just give them time to fix their site.

Yeah. For now I am sticking to Bittrex too.
