1181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks offering investing in Bitcoin on: July 10, 2023, 12:48:42 PM
Banks are going to try and do whatever it takes to stay a float, or a head of the game, so to speak. If they see or discover an opportunity to be able to add another service that fits in pretty well with their business model, then they are likely to do so. People still trust banks, whether they should or not, so for the banks themselves this makes a lot of sense of what not to miss out on (another way to make money).
1182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why do 90% of Bettors Lose in Sports Betting in the Long-term? on: July 10, 2023, 12:45:37 PM
I think the main thing is that most people whom bet sports aren’t really as knowledgeable about the sports they are betting on as much as they think they are. A lot of people will also just make bets on sports games just to have some “action” on something that day. Those are both two recipes for disaster but people tend to not be able to control themselves.
1183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 10, 2023, 12:42:36 PM

I honestly don’t think that he will be able to live up to their expectations. If he is in really good form then probably he can perform well. But this is a mistake that they do with a lot of players. They just overhyped him and when he is not performing as expected people tend to absolutely forget about him.

It is too early to tell. The kid is young and shows a lot of potential. If he can work with Pop on what he lacks and needs to improve, then he can be something. If Tim can be great with just fundamentals, Wemby can also be. It will be a lot of work but that is just commitment. He already has the best coach on his side. If he can commit to the work needed to improve, then he will not be just an overhyped prospect but a real NBA superstar.

Wemby is probably the most hyped before entering the NBA ever since I follow the league. Lebron was also hyped but the internet and the media and social media are not that big during that time. Of course, Wemby is not that hyped if he is not really that good, and since he is still so young his potential is also very high.

With regard to Wemby's bad performance in his first game, I don't think it deserves a lot of criticism. He was probably pressured and nervous because that was his first time and everyone was expecting him to dominate the game. But he did play well in his next game. Wemby had 27 minutes of playing time and produced 9 of 14 for a total of 27 points with 12 rebounds. That was a great performance already. There's still a lot of work to do though but he is still 19 so he needs to relax and not feel the pressure.

He’s certainly the most hyped player since Lebron James. I Remember when Lebrons high school basketball games were being broadcasted by ESPN, I had never seen a player that hyped before or sense, or at least until Wemby came around.

The NBA takes time get the hang of and Wemby will be just fine in my opinion, he’s just going to have some growing pains.
1184  Other / Meta / Re: Request: "Cybersecurity and Privacy" board + Poll on: July 09, 2023, 11:44:34 PM
I was looking for such a board here just yesterday. I constantly have these types of questions, often involving btc stuff , and so rarely does it fall under GMax’s & Achow’s tech boards.  Neither have the time to discuss my simpleton questions anyhow I’m sure.

I do a lot of research stuff on scams that’s for the community here (mainly collectible related) , but Im constantly running in to questions in this realm (when is it okay to accept cookies, what browser is best for what, how to more efficiently search for connected websites, is it okay to use my phone for this or that or should I be on a secured PC  etc etc).

I could google this stuff right?.. I have no idea if what I research is legit info or a well designed ad or some idiots blog that does a good job at boosting themselves on google searches…But I know forum members like Loyce (for example) are knowledgeable Mr Robot types often willing to  help others like myself.

1186  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WARNING] Sol Noctis Bull Coin Keys Compromised / Scam on: July 08, 2023, 02:49:18 PM
So if I understood correctly, at the time it was considered a scam because people couldn't redeem?

Or are the keys at risk of being compromised (even if they haven't as of yet)?

There have been a couple of issues.

1) You needed to jump thought hoops to redeem some coins.
2) If you read this entire thread something funky DID happen with at least 1 coin.

So make your own conclusions from there.
I think it is just sloppy work in general from them and not the worlds best customer service attitude.

-Dave

The breakdown -

Someone came here and said something to the effect of “holy shit my Sol Noctis Bull coin had btc funds moved off of it and I never peeled”. Coin was sent to LesbianCow who , and I’m a little fussy here but , basically confirmed that in fact the coin was truly never peeled. What’s craziest of all is the coins were moved them shortly after (not sure on exact length, maybe few days at most I believe) were sent back. LesbianCow spoke with the sellers/creators (PowerCoin I believe) who asked he send the coin to them. He did so. PC essentially brushed it under the rug and provided no legitimate response to the whole situation, ever.

So, yea, Sol Noctis Bull Coins, should be considered compromised. Someone obviously stored the keys, or at the very least one private key, which we all know one is all it takes for trust.

Apparently for coin one, the owl, they used someone else for key generation. Imo they should not be trusted either, as the seller is incompetent or part of the issue/compromise/potential future rug pull.

I refuse to buy any product for them as they were super shady about that whole thing. I remember they posted one of the Bull coins for either auction or raffle on instagram. I chimed in about the situation and my comment was deleted, later the post was.

This is all from memory, I will double check for story inaccuracies which I know for a fact if any are minimal and this is indeed exactly what transpired.

My opinion- having done a lot of scam researching in this space, I believe the absolutely ridiculous redemption process was done so on purpose. Why? I think they don’t want people redeeming them. There were SEVERAL Mr Robots around here who couldn’t figure out how to redeem these coins (Yogg and satoshighost I believe had tried but were also confused), and while one of these two is a scammer themselves (Yogg, of course), they are both highly technical programmers. This last part again, is my opinion.

Edit - “ top world coin” NOT power coin. My apologies.
1187  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: July 06, 2023, 11:25:54 PM
I imagine Elon had plans to buy some other things but that Twitter purchase was quite pricey, and I'm not sure that he really even wanted to purchase Twitter in the first place ( he obviously tried to get out of the contracts ).  Someone brought up in another channel that he's currently in the process of purchasing a money transmitting license.  So it sounds like he's going to try and create some sort of Cash App type deal and potentially integrate it with Twitter.

Other than this, I'm not sure what else he might get his hands in to.  He might become like Bezos and buy all sorts of things than have nothing to do with one another.  I don't understand how this guy runs his businesses though when he's trolling all day on twitter.
1188  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter Granted 3 Money Transmitter Licenses, Possible Bitcoin Integration? on: July 06, 2023, 11:24:05 PM
Even though I absolutely can't stand Elon Musk , and I think he's overall a narcistic lunatic who absolutely loves himself, he is a smart businessman and he does have some experience in this space, being one of the former owners of PayPal.  I think Elon sees an opportunity in that he's got this big social network with millions of subscribers and he's got this amazing platform to be able to market some new business ventures and being that he's got experience in the money transmitting space, this would be a no brainer for him.

My guess is he would implement both crypto and traditional payments.
1189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be intimidated on: July 06, 2023, 11:23:43 PM
I certainly agree with your overall sentiment here.  As I've stated about 10 billion times here, I'm a financial advisor by trade, and this is the type of topic that comes up quite often.  One should always have traditional investments stored up and on track for retirement.  This could be a mix of things like stocks, bonds, etc.  Diversification is key, as well as taking risk, where appropriate.  I always talk about those "home run" bets.  These are bets ( or investments ) that you make with money that you're okay with losing, or taking a big hit on, knowing that they could be home run investments, and so if you win great, but if not, you knew you were trying to hit a home run and just swung and struck out.   Make trades when it makes sense!

1190  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: how to get over it on: July 06, 2023, 11:21:44 PM
I’ve turned $1,000 into $100,000
I’ve turned $6,000 into $80,000
I’ve turned $11,000 into $550,000
and recently I’ve turned $4,000 into $90,000

With nothing to show for it…I’m a sharp sports bettor, but I always end up going all in. I can never be satisfied until it’s too late. I always need to go all in.

I’ve been reading comments from my last post (turning $4,000 into $90,000 and losing the entire $90,000), and I can’t help but feel like shit.

How do I get over the countless failures? I’ve been chasing the $1,000,000 dream for years.

It sounds like that's your problem, betting too much.  If you want to get to 1,000,000, than do so carefully.  One of my favorite financial books I've ever bought/read was titled "How to get rich carefully".  It is a play on the words "get rich quick".  Strong and steady, but not taking too huge of risk tend to be a better route.  If you win 80, save 40 of it, and bet the other 40, and so on.  I know it's easier said than done but that's just my two.
1191  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 06, 2023, 11:21:10 PM
The new rule started to be applied in the NBA summer league.
The first flopping penalty was given to the Golden State Warriors in the Sacramento Kings vs Golden State Warriors game played last night.

You can watch from the link below.
https://twitter.com/herseynba/status/1676577174881443840

Very interesting to see this. I’m sure it’ll be called plenty in the upcoming season. I am a little surprised that the flop call was on a 3-point shot like that. I would have expected it to be a drive or a screen. I also wasn’t aware this was going from a fine to a technical, but I guess it makes sense given how much month these guys are making now.

Does it mean that NBA will be boring next season from this flopping call and the game somewhat slow because it's going to be a technical foul and the opposing team getting a free throw?

So let's see how the new rule, for sure players are going to adjust again specially for those who are used to this kind of "flop" plays.

No news yet on Dame's trade, seems to be so quiet and it only means no deal has been done or there are still like ironing things out.

Players flopping left and right isn't also entertaining IMO. It kinda ruins the flow of the game and a lot of teams are resorting to this 'strategy' rather than get the ball around and make points that matter. It also affects how the ball is handled by these players because they can literally just flop in the moment of a turnover. I wonder how will the players that do this react to this change? They have to really up their handling game if they want to make sure that they won't lose the ball to a turnover and possibly lose points in the process.

Players flopping is definitely not fun to watch, and even though I don't watch a whole lot of European football (or soccer as we call it) I know players flop in that sport as well and everyone hates it there too.  It's certainly going to make a good amount of players have to change up their game a bit.  I know Lebron is pretty famous for flopping, and as he get's older, not being able to do so as much will be interesting to witness.
1192  Economy / Economics / Re: The cost of living is trying to kill the living on: July 05, 2023, 11:19:41 PM
I don't think there was ever a time where things were easy for the modern man.  As others have mentioned here in the United States we have gone through two major economic breakdowns in the last 100 years.  That would be both the Great Depression as well as the Great Recession, which was just back in 2008.

We are going through tough times right now.  There's a lot of work that needs to be done.  It's also to keep in mind not all countries are the same.  Here in the United States jobs often do raise the salary for employees to help keep up with inflation.  Now don't get me wrong, this isn't always the case, but it is in many.
1193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I sold the altcoins and invested in Bitcoin" on: July 05, 2023, 11:18:32 PM
There are a couple alt-coins that are decent, and have actual real case utility.  That's the thing about bitcoin which makes it such a special coin, it actually has utility.  It solves modern day, here and now problem, by present at solution to the way money works.  That's the problem with 99% of these alt-coins, or shitcoins..being a more appropriate world  I have a lot of clients who will tell me they own bitcoin, and often they own a handful of ridiculous shitcoins that have zero utility and they often have no idea what the coins are and what they are meant for.  Bitcoin, again, as legit utility, and in more ways than just one.

It got me confused why it has to be called when they've got the ball possession for the 2nd time around not until I was able to read the rule that's also posted on this thread earlier.

As for the hated act of flopping. Here is the solution of the NBA.
https://twitter.com/NBAPR/status/1676290932994449409?s=20

This is a game changer I guess for those that are used in doing this. We shall see how the teams and players will adjust to the new set of rules about flopping.

I think this is probably a good rule or I should say "rules" that the league is planning to implement next year.  I do get pretty tired of seeing players flop, and it honestly ruins the game in my opinion.  Obviously flopping is cheating, and when players get away with it, getting a chance at free shots..it just drives me nuts.  There's some players that rely on flopping as a big part of their game, can't wait to see how their games evolve around this.
1195  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: July 05, 2023, 11:16:15 PM
I traveled to Berkley California a few years ago to stay with a buddy at his uncles house.  While making the trip we made our way up to Lake Tahoe and I remember having an absolute blast and being able to gamble a little bit even though I was only 20 years old at the time.  I was surprised to see that there were other states outside of California that actually allowed for those under 21 years of age to gamble.

I may have enjoyed gambling being under 21, but I think the age should stick to 21.  People tend to be pretty immature even at that age, so I'm not sure it's wise for 18-19 year old's to be given that much freedom.
1196  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Discussion - Being an Active Poster in the Gambling Board on: July 05, 2023, 11:15:12 PM
Having been active on this board for several years now, I certainly do appreciate getting fresh perspectives from people.  I haven't changed up my gambling "routine", so to speak, too much, but it has helped me in certain aspects as well as I've been able to discover a few new gambling websites that I wasn't aware of beforehand.

I do appreciate all the good advice that's given here though.  I don't have a ton to contribute outside of a few areas, so I certainly am appreciative to those who do.
1197  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore this Classic Business Law or Follow Your Instincts? on: July 04, 2023, 11:14:35 PM
You absolutely shouldn’t be investing in what you do not understand. For every singular story like this there’s a million where people invested their money in things that they didn’t understand in which backfired on them and lost considerable sums.

He made the right call. I often see clients investing in equities or debt instruments that they don’t understand and I’ll never understand what drives them to want to invest so blindly, other than greed and ignorance.
1198  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Seniors vs Kids — in the future of Bitcoin on: July 04, 2023, 11:11:15 PM
Kids are the future of everything, not just bitcoin. Seniors are typically much more conservative, and unwilling to learn or change the way they do things.  Of course right now seniors have more of an impact on bitcoin than children do because after all children aren’t working a 9 to 5 and bringing home the bacon, so to speak. So if they’re not buying bitcoin their not contributing a whole ton. But, they eventually will and will help bring forward a lot of change in this type of realm.
1199  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: July 04, 2023, 11:06:41 PM
San Antonio can be a good place for an old Damian Lillard, when the number 1 draft diamond boy learning from him. The only thing that prevent this to happen its San Antonio never had a star player on hiw file, and yes tim duncan parker ginobili were stars but they are formed in San Antonio.
And DL its more individual player than collective.

That would be a lot of fun to see those two play together, but I do t think I see Lillard wanting to go there. Sure they got Greg Popavich who’s an absolutely legendary coach whom is revered by players, but I think it’s going to take more than one sensational (potentially) rookie for them to win a championship.

I would expect him to go to a little bit more mature of a team. But he’s also not a free agent so thats obviously going to hurt his shot at going yo the teams he really wants to.

34 years of top tier HOF QBs, expect Love to make a 180 & become a HOFr too. Our luck.
If that were to happen that will surely put the Bears as the team with the worst QB luck ever, after all before Fields which was the best Bears QB ever? Jay Cutler? Jim McMahon? A guy that played 70 years ago or so?

If Love turned out to be a HOF that would mean the Bears would had to face four to five decades of masterful QB play, not even the AFC East faced that kind of nightmare scenario with Brady.

It’s insane but yes, statistically speaking, Jay Cutler is the best quarterback the Chicago Bears have ever had. I mean that’s just insane, and sad for Bears fans like myself.

I surely don’t expect Love to be the caliber of Favre or Rodgers (very few ever have been). I am praying that Fields comes out and finally gives us that quarterback that we’ve been so desperately searching for. I would say that they probably already have the worst luck ever in terms of QB play. They are one of the original teams too.
