11801  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Firm Adds Two Nobel Winning Economists to Advisory Board on: September 15, 2018, 01:56:52 PM
After Obama won a novel prize, I think its almost worthless now.

I hope those nobel prize winners are better than Paul Krugman.

11802  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: bollinger bands on: September 15, 2018, 01:48:34 PM
Whatever you use it for, don't use it alone - it can deliver fake signals, so use it in combination with other indicators. [/url].

That's a good advice. Always combine multiple technical analysis techniques. I like cointelegraph technical analysis, he always shows interesting ideas.

Traders can make good money in crypto, because of its high volatility.
11803  Bitcoin / Press / [09-14-2018]Blockchain’s Popularity Among Large Enterprises Soared 11% This Year on: September 15, 2018, 01:34:59 AM
https://cointelegraph.com/news/blockchains-popularity-among-large-enterprises-soared-11-this-year-survey-finds
Quote
New research from fintech analysts Juniper House has found that blockchain’s traction with large enterprises has risen by 11 percent this year, according to a press release published September 11.

Juniper’s Blockchain Enterprise Survey: Deployments, Benefits & Attitudes (Second Edition) found that 65 percent of responding large enterprises – defined as those who employ a minimum of 10,000 staff – are “considering or actively engaged” in blockchain deployment, up 11 percent from the corresponding 54 percent figure last year.

We can see that blockchain technology is maturing. People are worried about he price, but that's not important now.

There are initiatives like Ethereum Enterprise alliance, which involves more than 20 gigant companies around the world, from oil to technology industry, all developing blockchain standards for business and industry.

Esses valores inferiores a 1 Satoshi serão aplicados apenas as transações off chain.
11805  Economy / Economics / Re: Technology improves we work more. on: September 13, 2018, 07:37:25 PM
The goal of technology was for everyone to have easier lives and work less. Well todays generations have it much tougher.  They are working for much lower wages and longer hours.  Its next to impossible for millenials to purchase a house on their own.  Something here itsn't right, Capitalism?

Not really sure where you living at but if work has something to do with technology, then the pay should be commensurate on your tech skills so its not lower wages, in my opinion. So if you work longer hours then obviously bigger pay.

So its possible that they can purchase a house of their own. I guess every generation has this mind set and not applicable for millennials alone, I myself was a IT graduate and find good job and nice pay and was able to purchase a house myself.

Usually people from developing countries, which are not capitalists alt all, blame capitalism for their problems and vote for socialists politicians hoping they will solve their problems.

That cause even more problems, because socialism never worked anywhere. Socialist politicians and policies fuked up my country and many others around Latin America
11806  Other / Meta / Re: Which discussion board to visit to really learn about cryptocurrency? on: September 13, 2018, 06:05:46 PM
<...>
From my experience, beginners could get more useful information from youtube videos, blog posts, and of course google search. Then if you have problems and couldn't find your answer, you can try StackExchange, Quora, or bitcointalk technical support or beginners and help.

I think this forum will be more suitable to discuss more about opinion and not a step-by-step guide.
I personally hate to repeat something that already present on the internet, maybe I will patiently explain something (if I need some merits Grin) but most of the time, my attitude will be "please do your research."

I agree with this.

If you have legit questions, this forum is an amazing place

There are lots of knowledge people here, like bitcoin devs, who gladly answer to any good question.

Also, simple questions like wallet problems are answered almost instantaneously because of the financial incentive to post provided by signature campaign.

These 2 happens in bitcoin technical support and discussion boards.
11807  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk has made me a bit sad today. on: September 13, 2018, 03:25:43 PM
We need a Beginners and Help board for the alt coin section. The current bitcoin one is being swamped by the same old crap being asked about ALT coin related subjects. We also need to get the Newbie/Welcome message initiated which I suggested

In Reddit /Bitcoin there is an automatic script that automatically deletes your post if it mentions any altcoin.

I believe we could have something similar here in all bitcoin boards (beginners, technical support and discussion, mining etc). If it mentions eth, ethereum, token, eyc, this post is automatically deleted and the user receives a pm telling h that he post mentioned an altcoin and it should be posted in the altcoin session.

This would help clean our boards a little be with zero effort from moderator or ADM
11808  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Expected Higher Return on: September 13, 2018, 02:40:56 AM
I believe only the top3 are not shitcoins (btx eth and xrp).

All others are risky.

However, some people believe only 100% btc is a good portfolio. And it is. The more diversification the more risk
11809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [btc] How to post a valid Signature campaign on: September 13, 2018, 01:41:14 AM
I saw you made the same post on two different boards, duplicating your own posts
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5027380.msg45581008#msg45581008

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5027384.msg45581139#msg45581139

This is against the rules of the forum, and these posts will probably not count z or count just one.

You could translate it to another language, but not copy past the same.

Also, avoid posting in megathread with more than 15 replies, unless they are discussing something useful that has not been said before.
11810  Economy / Economics / Re: Tech advances should make 4-day workweek a reality for the 21st century on: September 13, 2018, 01:35:27 AM
I doubt we will have 4 days working per week.

Probably more people will be fired and those left will work for 5 days.

Why should i have 5 employees working 4 days a week, if I can have 4 employees working 5 days?

What can be said of inflation and its outpacing of wage growth? How likely is such a thing likely to become widespread or popularized in a world where robots and automation is becoming more widely supported everyday?

Well there is no doubt in my mind that in the next 3-4 decades we will see a drastic loss in jobs due to AI and robotics, the idea of a universal basic income has become even that much more common amongst policy makers because of this.
But I wonder how a universal basic income would even fit into crypto or even at all ya know? I guess with inflation of fiat money a basic income would make sense.

I believe that an universal income would be disastrous for the humanity.

Humans have to work. They can't just sit and watch TV and receive a passive income. This not healthy in long term.
Few people are able to produce something useful in their free time. And these people are able to find free time even working 44 hours a week.

Humans need to think, work, learn news things.
11811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Different Types Of Consensus Algorithms [INFOGRAPHIC] on: September 12, 2018, 11:08:32 PM
Now that bitcoin dominance is hitting new highs of the year, we can clearly srr that we don't need all those consensus algorithms and that there is nothing wrong with pow.

Bitcoin is fine. Too much fud recently about scaling solutions , while we do not have a scaling problem.
11812  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs CFO confirms they are NOT dropping Bitcoin plans on: September 12, 2018, 10:00:59 PM
Guys, remember that we are on a very manipulated market. There are no regulation laws, and whales are manipulating the price.

For every buy there is a sell.

Hard times, it's not easy to make money. And it's also not easy to invest in a risky market like that.

Gold man Sachs and other institutional investors are probably coming. Bitcoin is a very interesting and uncorrelated asset. That's what they want.
11813  Economy / Economics / Re: [Discussion] GPU prices and the current bear market [self-moderated] on: September 12, 2018, 01:32:53 PM
I think the right board for this would be mining especulation (board 81)

There is too much spam here and you will have a hard time moderating here if they come.

This mining speculation is an interesting board and few people know it

On topic:

People started selling their old rigs for two main reasons, quit mining or upgrading.
So what we can expect in this sector? I'm wishing for lower prices as everyone else / except the producer/.

Are those pre owned mining rigs worth anything?

I believe prices will not drop too much since these equipment cost a lot to be produced.
Even if the demand is low....
11814  Economy / Economics / Re: Importance of Token Velocity on: September 12, 2018, 01:20:53 PM
This concept of velocity is actually liquidity.

It's a matter of daily Volume. It's and old concept in finance. Nothing new here.
11815  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela In Chaos - Massive 95% Devaluation -new Bolivar pegged to state crypto on: September 12, 2018, 12:05:38 PM
A centralized cryptocurrency under government control is a contradiction in terms, so it doesn't make any sense.
Simply, Maduro is trying to save the savable, still deluding the population a little with an unrealistic proposal while preparing the escape plans.
Too bad, Venezuela is a magnificent country and does not deserve the suffering it is going through due to incompetent and corrupt politicians.

Actually, centralised cryptocurrencies are not necessarily a contradiction. It's just that it makes no sense for anyone to make an investment or affiliation with any centralised cryptocurrencies because it essentially is the same as any other fiat.

I honestly don't see where Maduro is trying to go with the Petro other than trying to lure in investment from overseas to finance their regime and escape sanctions, potentially.

The thing with Bolivar pegged to Petro is that Petro is not backed by actual oil reserves, but land that has unmined oil reserves which need significant investment in mining to actually dig out of the ground. Tying the bolivar to this centralised asset will do nothing to help the hyperinflation going on within the country at the moment, in my opinion.

I agrre that it's not a contradiction. Decentralized cryptocurrencies are important to be more resilient against government's interference.

As petrol is made by the government, it makes more sense to make it centralized.

I believe you are right too about petrol being just a way to finance his own broken government
11816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you buy which coins? on: September 11, 2018, 01:18:32 PM
Why on earth will anyone want to be accumulating shitcoins? In that case, I really do not expect any sane individual to be using a non-trusted exchange no matter what. I personally prefer making use of well reputable exchanges with huge volume which I can always trust to fall back on even if I need to sell any market with ease. Most of the shit exchanges with shit coins usually have low liquidity and that is not a very good thing to start with.

Some developing countries do not have trusted exchanges
So many people from those countries are forced to use an untrusty exchange at least once to buy some btc....

After that, binance and bittrex are very good options and have most of the coins anyone would want
11817  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Black Mirror and the "Chinese new social credit system" on: September 11, 2018, 01:13:04 PM

This is a very interesting and prophetic episode
Uber and Airbnb already use this  system, rating people who use and offer the services.

As rider clients rate you. And as client, riders rate you.
This idea is amazing, because bad clients and riders are excluded from the system.

The problem is that it works well in small scale , such as an Uber or Airbnb service. Using this in everything in your life is crazy, like the episode.
11818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Cash the real bitcoin? on: September 10, 2018, 01:17:11 PM
This slogan "true bitcoin" is so idiot and dishonest.

People are being scammed and buying and altcoin, while they want to buy bitcoin. This is terrible for the ecosystem, as people eill associate bitcoin to scam, untrusty and a total mess.

If the bigger the block, the more "real" the fork is, so bitcore is the real bcash. because it has even bigger blocks.
11819  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Email received..Legit or not? on: September 10, 2018, 12:35:04 AM
bitcointalk_project@yahoo.com is fake of course.

Everytime you see someone using a Free email , it's probably a scam

Also, if you receive giveaways in your email, related to projects yoy don't know, it's not worth joining even if it's legit

Those desperate airdrop are worthless
11820  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus Wallet on: September 09, 2018, 11:59:24 PM
Passphrase and mnemonic phrase are not the same thing.

Mnemonic phrase is necessary to use the passphrase. Passphrase is like and additional word to your mnemonic phrase, which encrypts your wallet.

Did you try to restore using https://iancoleman.io/bip39/?

Go there and insert your mnemonic phrase and passphrase. Look for your public address and your private key there. You can try to restore it in a better wallet, such as Electrum or coinomi
