Whoa since when did Virtex run almost in line with Gox? They were constantly the lowest price around. Or maybe that is the answer, EVIL arbitrageurs got their money into Virtex.

edit

Also didn't realize Cad had lost some value to usd. Virtex btc effectively = to btc-e price.

ya CAD/USD went down a bit.. but not much really, i think virtex is a few dollars higher then usual because of the 1 atm. theirs line ups! and poeple meeting up for coffee and buying bitcoin.

Can i buy an ATM i heard it was like only 20K ?

Litecoin is in rally mode. Just now touching the last high made a few weeks ago with very high volume. Usually litcoin up = bitcoin down and vice-versa.

the few altcoins that survive and grow will become more relevant. go FTC Cheesy

The only valuable altcoin is XRP

it feels like we just got started, everyone is jumping aboard and we are ready to go! I can only imagine what the bitcoin world will look like in 2018
11867  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 02, 2013, 03:58:39 PM
30-Day Volume (BTC/USD)
Gox: 617.5k
Stamp: 568.6k
BTC-E: 280k

Stamp at ~ 92% of Gox 30 day volume.  Crossover soon?

Probably not before Stamp resolves their engine issues for serious traders.  Weren't they having major lag during high traffic a few weeks ago?

its really hard to say who will get the majority of volume...

Stamps, BTCchina or some other new foreign market!?

when using correctly spelled words and numbers as a separate element, your password would be easier to crack

try
america banana cast dominican equator frenchfry guacamole honduras 12345678
as
4m3r1c4 64n4n4 c45t d0m1n1c4n 3qu4t0r fr3nchfry gu4c4m0le h0ndur45 12345678

and if you want something to remember long term.. choose a book and a book page and line and the use that as your passphrase were some of the letters are made into numbers

Eg

c4ll m3 15hm43l 50m3 y34r5 490 h4v1n9 l1ttle 0r n0 m0n3y

who would of known knowing 1337 would pay off  Cheesy

good trick for an easy to remember strong password
11869  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise $1000 unexpectedly soon on: November 02, 2013, 04:53:17 AM
Maybe there is a chance that it could happen in a few years. Not this year, though.

early next year?

I suspect for noobs, $200 sounds a lot for 1 of anything

How does $2 for a million satoshis sound?

sounds, about right.

11872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It took 10 seconds for the brainwallet "password1" to be taken on: November 02, 2013, 01:39:54 AM
so could there be a possible collision?  Huh

If you use a password to create a private key it is very easy for computers to generate the private keys and check the balance.  You need to create the private keys randomly and not from a password.  In other words, no brain wallets.  people can run large supercomputers and check passwords all day long so don't even try it.

the best way to go is use a deterministic wallet like armory or electrum.  that was you have one long key you have to save and back up.  Then all your addresses are created from that.

you really need a very strong password something like "1bH7Dt62Hu82" should be good enough no?
11873  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin TAX on: November 02, 2013, 01:29:59 AM
poker stars and full tilt dont accept bitcoins,

if i was to get a 20btc profit from gambling and not buying any bitcoins do i report that as my income tax or capital gain..or none.

i'd say if you made 500$ gambling with bitcoin, you can get away with not declaring it...

10,000$ of pure profit... not so much..
11874  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 02, 2013, 01:18:29 AM
How fat would the Fed's wallet become if they seized all gambling sites simultaneously and managed to acquire associated wallets?

That's actually interesting.  Gambling sites that allow US players have been shut down in the past by the Department of Justice, including poker sites Full Tilt Poker and Pokerstars.  Bodog (sports betting) got shut down.  What's to prevent Gov't from shutting down Just-Dice or whatever?  They clearly service US players..

are you really asking how the govt will shut down the block chain or do you not know how Sdice works?

Do you really think that's what I'm asking?

you clearly do not know how Sdice works then...  did you see the OR ?

TL;DR it can't be shut down as long as people know the address of where the coins need to be sent.

The domain name cannot be seized and owners prosecuted because... of bitcoins??

taking away the domain will not shut down SD...

arresting all of the owners will not shut it down. people can still play it, but the owners who are jail just wont get to spend the money.

unless SD does something dumb like DPR it cant be shut down.
but why would they shut down a gambling site. and a single out bitcoin sites why?

gambling sites are every where

There is no way that the market could have anticipated all of the latest news that has gone viral.

bitcoin isn't "going viral"... bitcoin is a phenomena that first manifested in 2010, it will continue to fascinate poeple for ever.

i'm jobless and homeless...

Homeless as in "not a home owner" and not as in "living in streets" I hope? Wink

"not a home owner"    Wink

A load of my mind Wink

Anyway, then I'm homeless too. I don't want to own something really overvalued in a leveraged fashion for more than my net worth ...

I just don't want to pay taxes on it, and have something the govt can take just for the fuck of it...

brain wallets all the way!~

you should become a home owner! housing really does only ever go up in value.

everyone needs a nice place to live.

move to canada. Cheesy

If you want to go full geek you do encrypted paper wallet with brain wallet backup

1) memorize a strong password.
2) https://www.bitaddress.org/
3) encrypt the private key bitaddress generates
4) print.
5) ?
6) Profit!

edit: make damn sure to use a very very strong password for brain wallet.
