11881  Economy / Economics / Re: IF USDT would collapse what do you think will happen to the BTC price? on: December 25, 2020, 04:44:08 AM
If there's an impact majority will be in the positive side, just like how we are seeing things right now. XRP are falling and it's not doing
any harm with Bitcoin, still residing with strong value. And from what you've shared the dominance is keep growing, investors are more
concern with Bitcoin and nothing else.

XRP seems to be recovering now and the exchange rates are up by 22% during the last 24 hours. And as expected this has caused a dip in Bitcoin dominance from 69.0% to 68.2%. But this trend will continue. At some point, the overpriced altcoins will undergo corrections and a part of the funds which are locked up with them will move towards Bitcoin.
11882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar - UEFA Qualifiers on: December 25, 2020, 04:33:35 AM
Of course, keeping a minimum number according to the size of the continent and/or the number of countries, so that it isn't too unfair and break this diversity that FIFA... because, if select only the best in the world, the world cup will be a tournament between Europeans and Brazil Cool

I don't have an issue if the FIFA decides to include weaker teams from Asia and Africa. But what I don't want is good teams from Europe and the Americans to get excluded. The UEFA qualifiers are very tough, and every time at least 2-3 good teams misses out on the qualification. The same can be said about the CONMEBOL qualifiers as well. Teams such as Ecuador and Bolivia have very low chance of qualifying to the world cup, because they are paying against some of the strongest teams in the world.
11883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin gave a 230% returns in 2020: will the rally continue? on: December 25, 2020, 04:23:26 AM
The rally has barely begun.

I would agree. Most of the current rally can be attributed to adoption of Bitcoin by mainstream companies such as PayPal. And this is one of the reasons why the altcoins are not going up as much as that of Bitcoin. 2021 is going to be a massive year. PayPal will be launching their full services with BTC by mid-2021, and we can expect a big boost in the exchange rates once it happens.
11884  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 25, 2020, 04:00:09 AM
Dinesh Karthik is not in the team for this Australian tour and he is a talented player and if you look like that then KL Rahul is another talented player who is a wicket keeper as well and he performed well in the IPL. The problem with Rishabh Pant is that he dropped catches as a wicket keeper in the past series and he should improve his wicket keeping skills. Pant played well in the warm up match but i doubt he could replicate that kind of innings in the international level.

Why there is even a discussion on Dinesh Karthik? His performance during the IPL 2020 was pathetic, and he managed just one half century from more than a dozen matches. And he hasn't played any first-class matches for almost a year now. If BCCI is looking for a wicket keeper batsman, then the future lies with players such as Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, and not with oldies such as Dinesh Karthik and Saha.
11885  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network on: December 25, 2020, 03:49:07 AM
I'm sure they will add other territories as well PayPal will make a lot of money from adding more countries and more people that will engage in buying and selling Cryptocurrency in their platform, I don;t like how they implement trading in their platform it's very much centralize, people like to buy and withdraw the coins they bought so they can HODL and they want total control, something PayPal is not giving tot heir users.

They went for the US first, because it is their primary market and accounts for the vast majority of the transaction volumes. Also, the legal aspects of Bitcoin is very clear in the US, unlike the case with several of the other countries. Hopefully when they end their testing phase in the US by mid-2021, the services may be extended to more territories (depending on whether BTC is fully legal in these countries or not).
11886  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 25, 2020, 03:39:22 AM
Do not expect a lot from government of India, if European nation are struggling then you cannot expect much from India in regards to the new virus strain.
Every election in India is important because thats what constitutes democracy. If Bihar election can be conducted so can the BCCI elections too.

You don't need to compare EU/US with India. In India, we have witnessed a 75% reduction in the incidence of new COVID 19 cases during the last 1-2 months. But this should not give rise to any complacency, as the cases are still increasing in some of the states such as Kerala and Delhi. BCCI elections are a joke and I don't think that they can result in some productive output even if they are conducted.
11887  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin gave a 230% returns in 2020: will the rally continue? on: December 24, 2020, 04:56:55 AM
The ATH level before this latest rally was $20,000 per coin, which was reached in 2017 December. And when compared to the situation three years ago, the user base and acceptability of Bitcoin has grown by manifold. Therefore I am expecting a minimum of 2-3 times increase in the exchange rates, by the end of 2021. That means that we may attain a peak level of around $50,000 per coin by 2021 Decemer. Now this is a very conservative estimate, and it can go much higher than that if the conditions are favorable.
11888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: XRP - The 2nd Biggest Scam in Digital Currency History on: December 24, 2020, 04:45:31 AM
I was expecting this for sometime. It looks like the promoters are also dumping a lot of XRP in to the exchanges. If you check the 24-hour trade volume, you can see that this figure is around 175% of that of the total market cap of XRP. Now taking in to consideration the fact that 80% to 85% of the coins are being held by the promoters, it is clear that this much trade volume is possible only if they are dumping at least a part of their holdings.
11889  Economy / Economics / Re: Rise in US unemployment. Thoughts? on: December 24, 2020, 04:34:43 AM
I don’t know where you got your statistics from, but the reality for many western countries is very different from that picture. COVID damages are far from healed, and in many sectors, I hardly doubt it will be enough to wait for 5 years.
Longer, If we include in the damages the gargantuan amount of new debt in our economies.

Have to agree here. US and the European countries are in a very bad state. Most of the EU nations are under strict lockdowns, and the United States is reporting around 3,000 deaths per day from COVID 19. Many of the small businesses are already bankrupt (despite the stimulus) and those which haven't closed down are under enormous strain from new debt. Maybe in the Asian/African nations it is the other way around.
11890  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2021 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifiers! on: December 24, 2020, 04:23:16 AM
North Macedonia is not so strong team but they had gained respect in this stage.
They have gotten good results recently and they are totally worth this performance.
Goran Pandev is a true leader in this team and he can carry the team even in this age.

I have never seen North Macedonia play before. Are they participating in the Euro Cup for the first time? They are placed in Group C, along with the Netherlands, Ukraine and Austria. If they play well, then there is a chance of upset against either Ukraine or Austria. BTW, anyone noticed Group F? Three very strong teams are placed in that group - France, Germany and Portugal (along with Hungary).

BTW, I checked the odds. Spain is far ahead at +700, with Italy and Portugal far behind at +1400. At the bottom we have North Macedonia and Finland, with +50000.
11891  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul - February 20 on: December 24, 2020, 04:13:46 AM
I am still skeptical about this fight. Floyd is a former world champion. Logan Paul has no chance. Even though he is younger and might be fit the experience Floyd has will this make an easy fight. How are the bets looking for the fight? This would be an easy way for all of us to make some money.

If you check the previous posts, then you can see odds given by various gambling sites. For Floyd Mayweather, they are in the -3500 to -5000 range. So if you are making a bet of $200 on Floyd, you may end up with a profit of $4-$6. It is up to you to decide whether this is "an easy way to make money". IMO, as far as gambling is concerned, there is no "easy money" to be made. No outcome is 100% guaranteed, and fights such as this one will be having very low potential returns.
11892  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bangladesh going to accept Cryptocurrency??? on: December 24, 2020, 04:00:19 AM
Any country that will adopt cryptocurrency is always be a good news and it will spread the adoption and the ideology from all over the world. The adoption should be to any country as long as it propagate the good news and good intentions of crypto currency to all citizens.

Do you even realize that this is an unconfirmed rumor which hasn't appeared on any of the mainstream media outlets in Bangladesh? Till now there is no indication that the Bangladeshi government will revoke the ban on cryptocurrencies. Anyone trading in cryptocurrencies is taking a big risk, and if you are really unlucky then you can end up in jail. The situation in Bangladesh is not different from the other countries in that region.
11893  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 24, 2020, 03:39:14 AM
Hearing for the first time that Dhoni and Kohli had a rivalry within the team.

It's not like rivalry. Both Dhoni and Kohli had different preferences for the national team selection. Dhoni would prefer players such as Kedar Jadhav and Dinesh Karthik, who play for CSK or India Cements. On the other hand, Kohli is said to have a preference for RCB/Delhi players, such as Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal. Also, both of them support opposing camps in the BCCI. Dhoni is considered as a N Srinivasan loyalist, while Kohli supports the other side.
11894  Economy / Economics / Re: A reward system for Covid Free people.... on: December 24, 2020, 03:27:11 AM
I know there are dumb asses but mostly people do care for their health and majority roaming out are risking to have a living as you cannot survive without a job and giving out incentives for taking care of your health does not bode well with any government Grin.

I don't think that the majority are taking the necessary precautions to avoid getting infected. Here in India, during the initial days people were wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. But after a while, they got impatient, and started to ignore these precautionary steps. There has been a decline in the number of new infections and this might have contributed to the lax attitude.
11895  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 24, 2020, 03:17:52 AM
Even i prefer to see Natarajan since Shami is injured and India does not have a good left hand seam bowler and he is a good choice.

Yes.. a left-arm seamer adds more variety to the attack. Shami, Saini, Siraj.etc are all right-arm pacers and they bowl at 85-90mph, with very little seam movement. Natarajan bowls at a slightly slower pace, and is able to get a lot of seam movement when compared to the others. But then Saini and Siraj are preferred, because they play for the same IPL franchise as Virat Kohli. IMO, Siraj's inclusion to the test squad can be solely attributed to this.
11896  Economy / Economics / Re: MicroStrategy Buys $250M in Bitcoin, Calling the Crypto ‘Superior to Cash’ on: December 23, 2020, 04:46:30 AM
Well im sure the stakeholders were not in the dark while investing into Microstrategy's plan.

Im sure they also realise that holding investments in FIAT based assets is actually eroding away with time.

The Microstrategy strategy is about securing wealth, the wealth has already been made they all want it to be there in 10 years time for example.

What the U.S authorities do is anyones guess and a seperate matter. They are already wrecking the $ so thats not safe anyway.

If the other assets were underperforming, then I could have agreed. But that is not the case. The Dow Jones Industrial Average has risen by around 65% during the last 6-7 months (ever since the start of the global COVID 19 pandemic). Most of the investors are selling their other assets (such as treasury bonds and bullion) to invest in equities. And this time, how can Saylor justify his move to invest in cryptocurrency?
11897  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-17] IRS is trapping bitcoin and altcoin investors on 2020 tax form on: December 23, 2020, 04:36:11 AM
It might not be practical for the tax authorities to do this themselves, however, this will cause a very productive relationship between blockchain analytics companies and the government. There might also be some exchanges who would cooperate with the IRS similar to Coinbase.

Being a resident of India, my question is how much impact will be there for the non-US users? The exchanges may cooperate with the IRS and may provide information on the American users. And I agree that there is a chance that the IRS may hire blockchain analytics firms to trace the high-volume individuals. But this should be limited to the American users, at least in the near future.
11898  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bangladesh going to accept Cryptocurrency??? on: December 23, 2020, 04:24:48 AM
Overcoming the ban imposed over the usage of cryptocurrencies for the Transaction purpose as well on other needs people continue to make use of it. In reality very little people from these countries were aware about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The banning by the government had made bitcoin usage punishable, but the users who have much attached to it use varied others
Sources.

Obviously it is not practical for the government to arrest millions of people who use cryptocurrency. And due to the semi-anonymous nature of cryptocurrency, it is not easy to trace the users as well. As a result, they will arrest a few random traders and give it a lot of publicity, in order to deter others from dealing in cryptocurrency. This was the strategy used in India and some of the other Asian nations as well.
11899  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: December 23, 2020, 04:14:35 AM
There are still many matches left in the season. Who will win the title is decided now though it is decided very early. However, considering the performances of all the teams, it is understood that ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai city will be ahead in the title fight till the end of the season. Bengaluru FC is playing well. I hope in the third position we will see Goa at the end of the season. The team has not been able to organize itself properly so far.

This season looks like very lopsided. Teams such as ATK Mohun Bagan have performed really well, while some of the other teams look completely out of sorts. I am not just talking about teams such as East Bengal (2 points from 6 matches), but also about teams such as the Northeast United FC and FC Goa. During the last season, NEUFC and FCG were among the contenders for winning the trophy. This time their performance has been so pathetic, that they can hardly compete against teams such as Mumbai City and ATKMB.
11900  Economy / Economics / Re: David Rosenber: Bitcoin is in a 'massive bubble' on: December 23, 2020, 04:04:25 AM
^ bullish Bitcoin in 2017 was a bubble, but bullish this time is different. The price of Bitcoin is slowly rising, accompanied by a lot of positive news from large companies that are getting interested in Bitcoin, hence the opinion that Bitcoin is a massive bubble is very wrong.

Back then it was the altcoins which behaved more like a bubble. Even at the peak levels of 2017, Bitcoin was fairly priced. But on the other hand, there were little known altcoins, which grew to market capitalizations of tens of billions of USD almost overnight. And when the prices crashed, these shitcoins lost almost 99% of their value in a duration of few months. Fortunately this time, the altcoins are still behaving bearishly.
