11941  Economy / Reputation / Re: Paying a loan late deserves red trust ? on: May 27, 2017, 03:47:20 AM
^^This is indeed a worse scam, but I see it on this forum so frequently that the depths these shitballs stoop to no longer surprises me.

During my first year here I would always post that I thought Theymos should just nuke the lending section, investor-based games, and something else--I forget--but I gave up on that.  I don't have statistics, but it seems like the ratio of successful loans:total scams is extremely low.  Low enough that that whole section is nothing but a festering snake pit.  And why?  Because you have people with attitudes just like this:  "I'll only repay the loan if you remove my red trust".  It's total bullshit.

By the way, TimSweat is still a total scumbag.  But that's way off topic.
11942  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Street laughed at a call for bitcoin at $25k but now the laughter is fading on: May 26, 2017, 11:03:14 PM
I won't laugh at the $25k prediction, but we're not there yet, not by a long shot.  We basically have to get 10x the present value, and that's a difficult run up for any asset.  Ten times!

Wall Street ought not laugh, because they're probably the ones responsible for the price we're at.  I don't see who else would be pouring money into crypto (or who would have this kind of money to begin with).  I'm really curious whether there are any legitimate institutions buying right now.
11943  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: WTS .0072 BTC for trust paypal on: May 26, 2017, 09:48:13 PM
No newbie members please.
Figures, followed by 3 offers from noobs.

If I had the money, I'd do this for you in a heartbeat.  I'll be in the market for some bitcoin next Thursday evening (around this time).  Perhaps then, if you're interested, you can hit me up.  Good luck finding a deal, brother.
11944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hold... Hold.... Hold.... Do not sell everything on: May 26, 2017, 09:41:22 PM
Yeah...  Let's not pretend that this price growth is normal.

The lesson is:
Quote
WHY AM I HOLDING? I'LL TELL YOU WHY.  It's because I'm a bad trader and I KNOW I'M A BAD TRADER.

It's impossible to tell how long this is going to go on for, so it's impossible to tell when exactly to sell.

Just don't panic buy, take in loans or throw in more than you can afford to lose.  This is a dangerous game so I say just wait it out.  The bad news is that we're getting very close to the point of no return, after which we'll go very, very high and potentially have a serious crash  afterwards.  The good news is that that the crash might actually only end up going back to around where we are now.
Effing solid advice right here.  That thread with the medical student wondering if he should take out a loan to buy bitcoin in order to pay off his med school loans--that's crazy.  But it's what people do in crazy markets like this one, and it's how people get into trouble.  What that guy proposed was basically a form of margin trading, but I suspect with a much higher interest rate attached.

I'm a bad trader, too.  That's why I don't try to profit off of altcoins by trading in and out like a fiend.  Same thing with the stock market.  I'm content to just hold bitcoin and whatever stocks I own.  I leave the trading to people who have more balls and/or are stupider.
11945  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crying board - Who got burnt - vote on: May 26, 2017, 09:37:55 PM
I bought BTC at $1200 and watched it go to $200.  Even bought then after all the "cheap coin" talkers had bailed out and claimed BTC was dead.

It's all laughs and gravy for me now.
I swear I thought bitcoin was dead then, too.  Ooops!!  At $450 I thought it was a dead cat bounce, and at $700 I still wasn't sure about its chances at survival.  Do I wish I'd bought more?  Hell yes.  Is it too late?  Hell, no.  I just don't have enough money to buy like I want to, and it's a shame.  But I didn't get burned this time around except for the lost opportunity.  I regret that a little, but since there's no way of knowing the future I'm going to cut myself some slack.  As should the rest of you.
11946  Economy / Services / Re: Homeopathic Services for Acute Illness on: May 26, 2017, 08:28:09 PM
No one has died taking homeopathic medicine, its relatively safe in the world of medicines.
That's because there's no real medicine in it, just quackery that you have to put faith in.  You're offering to sell people nothing other than the placebo effect, which can indeed be harmful if it causes someone to forsake real medical treatment.  You're a fraud, as are all homeopaths--if you really are one, anyway.  You have no proof of anything.

No one here is going to pay bitcoin for anything homeopathic.  One can barely even sell addictive drugs here on this forum.  Better luck next time, quack-o.
11947  Economy / Economics / Re: Possible big Crash coming within 10 days on: May 25, 2017, 08:21:46 PM
Wouldn't surprise me.   OP is right, nothing gains this much in value this quickly and stays there for long.  I also think we're due for a correction or crash or whatever you want to call it.   This market we're seeing is nuttier than a fruitcake.   I'm still wondering where all this money is flowing in from.
11948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was just dumped down to $2360 on: May 25, 2017, 05:06:45 PM
This doesn't surprise me and should surprise no one.   Things don't rise this fast without people taking their money off the table.   This whole market has me freaked out.  I've never seen this much of a bubble even in the stock market,  and I've been following stocks for many years.
11949  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Medical student $300k+ in debt... Crypto investments a way out? on: May 23, 2017, 09:22:10 PM
Hey guys,

I'm currently a medical student in the US and will graduate heavily in debt in order to chase my dreams. The prospect of being $300k+ in debt is extremely anxiety inducing to me and have seen how it cripples freshly graduated residents. Until recently I've seen this as nothing but an inevitability but after following cryptocurrencies for some months, I've seen the promising potential of this field. I placed a test investment of a few hundred dollars and have already doubled my initial amount in less than two weeks. I am considering taking out an extra 10k in loans to invest in crypto (relative to 300k it seems like a drop in the bucket). Do you guys think it is in the realm of possibility to have that investment eventually pay off my debt? Currently I am invested in NEM, Waves and Wings. Thank you so much for your help!
Dude, don't take a loan to invest in an extremely volatile asset that's currently at its all-time high.  That's crazy.  If you're really in med school, just focus on that.  Doctors make more than enough to repay their loans.  Hell, I had my college loan paid off pretty damn quick just making a pharmacist wage--and that's way less than a physician would make (depending on specialty, of course).  $300K is a lot, but you'll pay it off soon enough.  I would suggest keeping your exposure to crypto at a minimum.  Even though I'm a huge fan of bitcoin, none of us know when the bubble is going to blow up.  You could lose everything and then you'd be screwed.
11950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How darknet drug-dealers keep their privacy ? on: May 22, 2017, 11:27:08 PM
How the hell is the post office going to know who's selling drugs?  Yeah, cameras are ubiquitous but you have to know who's sending shit in the first place.

And dark marketeers generally get caught after a while.  The government investigates all that stuff and makes busts.  It's a wack-a-mole situation of course, but nobody gets away with it forever.  Drugs, porn, guns, etc.  People are definitely getting caught.
11951  Economy / Economics / Re: The best investment you ever made? on: May 22, 2017, 01:49:49 AM
Bank of America stock after the housing crisis.  I totally missed out on the early days of bitcoin, but I'm over it.  I did make a decent profit with what little money I have with BAC stock--and they've been increasing their dividend over the years, so there's a little passive income coming in.  I'm really not good at investing.

Another thing was my college education.  That was totally worth it.
11952  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin sucks ass but price still rises- how come on: May 22, 2017, 01:30:40 AM
the reason why you are not understanding this rise is because you have not yet understood what bitcoin is and what it offers!
you, like many others, think bitcoin is just offering one thing and that is cheap transactions! so you conclude that since transactions are no longer cheap, price should also fall and bitcoin to fall down and die!
i suggest learning more about what bitcoin offers apart from "cheap transactions"!
Bitcoin doesn't really offer cheap transactions anymore.  Other altcoins do, but bitcoin's are going through the roof.  If you're using crypto for actual money, something like DOGE is much better, much cheaper.  I don't think bitcoin should be used as a currency, but that's just me.  I think it's for holding.  I just sent something like $150 to someone, and the fee was around $8.  That's a lot.  But I had the option to send it cheaper--and then I would have had to wait days for the dude to get it.  It's always a tradeoff of some sort.
11953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IRS Probe of Bitcoin Goes Too Far, GOP Warns on: May 22, 2017, 12:48:41 AM
As corrupt as the IRS is, no one likes them, including the GOP.  Good for them.  People are tired of being raped by the government.  They have their fingers in every one of our orifices, draining us of our precious bodily fluid.  And that's just the federal government!  Most states have an income tax on top of that, and tax on your house, car, fucking everything.  It's maddening.  Hopefully they're told to fuck off.
11954  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: RichG & nachius - Fraud, Trust Abuse, and Multiple Accounts! on: May 21, 2017, 10:50:39 PM
No, I said "refer to my sales thread in my signature". I originally gave him a response, these are from rewards points as I've stated on this forum multiple times. Digital codes with no receipt.
OK, I'll buy that.  Note that I didn't leave you a red trust anyway, because I don't have any proof either way.  I'll also note that you're not selling your GCs for 50% and less, which is what I'd originally said.  But you have to understand that this area is rife with scammers and scam accusations get slung around like whiffleball bats.  The only thing it looks like you can do is prove your cards were from rewards programs.  It's plausible, but you're in a poor position right now.
11955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: RDD Reddcoin on: May 21, 2017, 10:19:14 PM
a super shit coin that getting pumped. If you buy this crap you deserve to get burned .A social media tipping coin but no connection are ever going to be on facebook. It going places

How your so wrong my friend Smiley
No, he's so right.  If you hold this stinker you're going to lose whatever you put into it.  There's no purpose behind it, and no innovation.  It is a 'social media tipping coin', but that shit isn't going to take off because there are other coins that can do the same thing and people just don't do it.  Do you tip anyone for their clever posts?  Nah, didn't think so.  It's P&D all the way.  If you think otherwise you're just asking to get burned, as allthebitandbobs said.  He is definitely correct.
11956  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: RichG & nachius - Fraud, Trust Abuse, and Multiple Accounts! on: May 21, 2017, 09:41:06 PM
I will gladly message all default trust members asking them to give me negative feedback.
Except they probably won't do it, but who knows with this forum.  Generally people selling gift cards at huge discounts are scammers, and it's safe to make the assumption that they are--there have been so many examples of this here, that it's hard to argue otherwise.  What business model would allow someone to sell gift cards at 50% or less of their value?  That's a question I've never seen answered by sellers.

And you got asked about the source of your gift cards, and your response basically was "prove they're carded".  That's not a good answer.
11957  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: bryant.coleman ACCOUNT COMPRIMISED on: May 21, 2017, 09:37:27 PM
I got bryant.coleman's account from an account seller who had been selling hacked accounts.
So would you kindly tell the community who the seller was?

This is the problem with account sales; this is what they lead to.  This is more evidence of the claims I've been making for the past year on this forum, and don't listen to the weasily Quickseller and his ilk who will tell you that there's nothing wrong with it.  There's a lot wrong with it, and account sellers need to be tagged red 'til it hurts.
11958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Where do you get info about future pumps? on: May 21, 2017, 09:33:15 PM
When you see multiple threads pop up in the altcoin section, you know whatever coin is the object of those threads is about to be pumped.  Guaranteed.  Usually they'll be in the form of some stupid question like "what do u guyz think about ___X".  And someone is aiming to take your money with that coin, but if you get in early you certainly could profit from it.  But I wouldn't hold those things for more than a few hours, because there is no real support behind any of them.
11959  Economy / Economics / Re: How bitcoin can be useful in developing nations like the African continent. on: May 21, 2017, 08:34:40 PM
Welcome to the forum! I can definitely see this happening. Most developing nations like Africa have terrible traction with their own currency and very high inflation. Switching to Bitcoin would maybe help them get that traction they need to get their economy going.

The problem with bitcoin though is the price fluctuations that make it sort of hard to use as a countries currency. These problems can be overcome though so you might have a point there!
Exactly, that is why we shouldnt consider something like that, this solution is just not useful for such a countries, where the citizens are living in poverty.
Their currency is not stable comparing it to other, trusted fiats such as USD or GBP, so the price is volatile, same with their earnings basically, because the value of the currency applied, has the influence on the food prices.

I think that third world countries are still not ready to use the cryptocurrencies as additional way to get money.
Yuh, I don't either.  Franky1 made a good point in another thread about transaction fees being way higher than most 3rd worlders could afford, and it made sense.  What dirt-poor African is going to spend $8 sending bitcoin to buy anything?  Ans: No one.  So transaction fees would have to come down considerably before it gets adopted as a currency.  As an investment, it's a great idea.  Don't know if Ethiopia is ready for it yet, but props to anyone there who's got any bitcoin.  You could get rich.
11960  Economy / Speculation / Re: Just Blew By on: May 21, 2017, 03:27:02 AM
this is really unbelievable!
if you look through my post history i have probably rediculed the idea of reaching $2000 this soon and said it may reach in early 2018 or if we are lucky at the end of this year. but it seems like this current rally is no longer stopable!
there is a lot of fresh money coming in, and with more rise a lot more fresh money comes in to buy bitcoin.
Yeah, I never woulda thunk it being this early...but this is bitcoin.  It's almost, but not exactly, like 2013.  Some would even say we're at the moon right now--but those folks have probably been in crypto a lot longer than me.  It's crazy.  This money has to be coming from somewhere, and it's not just bitcoin but a lot of the altcoins that are exploding these days.  I swear Wall Street is finally getting in on the action, but I can't prove it.
