I won't say "that's just money". We don't know how he worked hard for that but it's also his fault for gambling that amount within a quick time frame.
The impact mentally that it has given will be there but if he wants to recover, he shouldn't let that disappoint put him into that situation forever since there's still a way to recover it through working and other legitimate means.

To be objective, this amount is not critical for developed countries. In fact, this is income for 5-6 months (I can be wrong, but not much). Therefore, I would agree with the statement that it is just money. They can be earned again. And by the way, everyone who, for example, did not buy Bitcoin or Ethereum cheaply has potentially lost much more  Grin Cry

Oddly enough, but these are expensive sports - running requires systemic training in good conditions, and not just a street where you can run. Football is an even more expensive sport - you need a field to play, a ball, a goal, a football boots and a lot of partners ready to train regularly.

I agree. However, that only applies at a professional level. If we are talking about amateur sports, most of it is not really necessary.

African and Southeast Asian countries generally don't have very big GDP and yet these countries produce some of the best runners in the world. Football is somewhat similar. Many world-class players come from less-than-optimal economic environments and there have been many cases of youngsters who were born in slums becoming professional footballers.

Despite its heart-breaking nature, I think poverty can be an incredibly powerful motivator.

Here you can argue about running, but football is definitely the lot of rich countries - all the best football players in the world are graduates of the European football school. Football players from Argentina and Brazil do not deny this fact at all, since historically in these countries football is the main sport and does not experience money problems.

This is a good strategy, I also try to place bets on those events where I am well versed.
Now the semifinals of the Olympic tournament between Mexico and Brazil are taking place and, apparently, if nothing changes in the next 5 minutes, we will see a penalty shootout. This is quite unexpected, and many bettors who made bets on the victory of Brazil have already lost.

Yeah, that's what I think too.
Most of it is on the sport I follow the most, football. There are so many games in a season, but I tend to stick to the teams I am familiar with. After some thought I am pretty confident in my selections.

But of course, that doesn't mean a guaranteed win, it just gives a sense of security when placing a bet.

It is good primarily for calming the nerves. In fact, I came to the conclusion that finding an unbalanced bet from a bookmaker is a very rare success, and in most cases we can rely on its analysis (setted odds) and place bets on any events without even knowing anything about the teams or sport for the event in which we are bidding.
11964  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling or playing? on: August 06, 2021, 09:58:03 PM
And what habits could they be? Spending more than you earn? Taking into account the fact that parents manage money, I think that they will quickly explain to the child that money is not endless and should be spent wisely. However, the child receives this knowledge in any game where there are finite resources.
Games that has money involve can still be considered as a game because there’s no way for you to get money in return aside from placing your own bet which I think is already happening in some country where the Children can bet and play that game. Gambling is too risky and can be very addicting, Children still have a weak emotion, this is not for them and we have to monitor our Children especially on their time online to avoid them from spending too much money that can lead into a gambling.

Elements of gambling are found even in those games where there are no purchases for money. Almost every game has resources and they can be spent in different ways. Very often these expenses are probabilistic in nature - like sharpening weapons in Lineage, for example. Whether we like it or not, children encounter gambling very early on.
11965  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling or playing? on: August 06, 2021, 07:52:58 PM
But the problem with those games is that you can buy in game currency with real money and this means that albeit indirectly kids are using real money to make bets and this is a problem because there are a lot of kids that do not really understand what they're doing and they can develop bad habits and this can be problematic because the sooner they develop those habits the more difficult it is going to be for them to leave them behind once they grow up and become adults.

And what habits could they be? Spending more than you earn? Taking into account the fact that parents manage money, I think that they will quickly explain to the child that money is not endless and should be spent wisely. However, the child receives this knowledge in any game where there are finite resources.

It's better to track those games that you are well aware and you have deeper knowledge, though there's no guarantee that you'll keep on winning but the chance is far better than choosing games that you know nothing.

Strategy and bankroll management are also  includes to limits your budget, with good system to follow you are capable of stopping yourself once the strategy already been triggered, your set amount and your target both are important to make sure that you are inside your limitations.

This is good only for complacency and inner confidence in your own actions. If I am not mistaken, then making 100 bets on a team that you know well and making 100 bets on a team about which you do not know anything at all, then you will come to the same result. If it were otherwise, then many betters would have a chance against the bookmakers.

I see that today the difference between China and the United States has reduced to 5 gold medals. In silver and bronze medals, the United States is undeniably in the lead. I think that it will be very difficult for China to keep the first place, in the last couple of days their pace has decreased significantly.

Gap now reduced to 4 medals. Just two days remain and I don't really think that enough items remain now for US to overtake China. A number of star US athletes failed to win gold medals, especially in gymnastics as well as track and field. Any chance of the United States topping the medals table evaporated at that point. Tomorrow we have the gold medal match in basketball and a few other items. US may end up somewhere around 35 golds and China may end up slightly ahead of them.

The gold medal gap rose again to 5. It seems that China will indeed be able to stay in first place, although if you look at the total number of medals, then the United States has an undeniable advantage - they are ahead of China almost by 20 medals. In fact, the second place for the United States is a failure in literally several types of competitions and a great success for China, which earned fewer medals, but the share of gold is large.

So if you lose at gambling, you have still something to cheer about. Although men like hot girls but when any gambler have lost the money, he wouldn't get attracted to such girls. These hot girls are only seems to be attractive if you're winning.

It turns out that the best strategy is to have money and not risk it in the casino (since wins are less frequent than losses), right?  Grin
By the way, I'm not sure if smart girls prefer the guys who win in the casino - luck is fleeting and yesterday's millionaire can be a beggar today because of his gambling addictions.

Interesting question. If you recall all the sports in which I know successful players from India, then I can name chess only. Apparently this is due to the fact that chess is the cheapest kind of sport and historically India was a poor country. I think after some time, when the standard of living in India rises, we will see many different successful athletes from there.

What about running (or walking, if you consider that a sport)? You can run anywhere and anytime without requiring any equipment or prior training.
And what about football (not American)? Everyone plays football. You just need shoes and a ball. You can make goals out of just about anything you can find.

Oddly enough, but these are expensive sports - running requires systemic training in good conditions, and not just a street where you can run. Football is an even more expensive sport - you need a field to play, a ball, a goal, a football boots and a lot of partners ready to train regularly.
11970  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 06, 2021, 06:57:02 PM
I don't bet on sports very often because I prefer slots. But sometime sports betting for match that fall into the big match category will also be quite fun to place bets on. So far I'm not addicted to betting on football match because to be honest I'd rather watch than bet. That may be different from most other gamblers who have an interest in sports betting.

For sports betting, I prefer to choose the team I like or my favorite team regardless of how big the odds are given to it by the betting site. In most cases, the favorite team to win the match quite often gets a small odds from the betting site but the chance of winning the bet is much greater than the opposing team. The risk of losing will probably be much lower if I choose my favorite team in betting, that's why I can't win much in sports betting. I will take the odds of 1.5 for the favorite team if the site is willing to offer it or not bet at all.

Usually bookmakers understate the odds on the favorite, so it is quite difficult to be profitable here. Perhaps it is worth making bets online and waiting for the match to start unsuccessfully for the favorite, in this case the odds will increase and it will be possible to make a profitable bet.
11971  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Being unpredictable on: August 05, 2021, 10:37:13 PM
keeping the style of the game so that it is not easy to predict is actually enough
but that's what a player should do when playing gambling at the table (offline or online)

we here often play cards with light bets and learn from each other's playing styles
players who don't have the ability to change their style and are easy to predict are often the first to lose

To think that you can change your playing styles and therefore to be unpredictable is self-deception. If you play in an online casino where it is possible to collect statistics on players, then with a certain number of hands, the opponent will know a lot about you. Therefore, if you want to avoid this, then you need to play where the player remains impersonal and, accordingly, it is impossible to collect statistics about him.
11972  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Accumulating small odds or choosing one or two big odds on: August 05, 2021, 10:22:07 PM
One or two big odds are far better! It's easier to find one or two big odds, especially if you follow the sport you are betting on and you have some knowledge about the teams! Focusing on what you know, plus some extra research before the game can help you in making a profit in the long run!
Accumulating small odds looks simple and easy, but when you try it (like many of us did) you will realize that every time some favorites will disappoint!

Sure. Even from the point of view of mathematics, it is clear that being in profit after making several bets is much more likely than being in profit after many small bets. The longer the distance, the more likely our deposit is with the bookmakers. Therefore, I am a supporter of making a few big bets. Plus it gives a good adrenaline rush which is hard to get with small bets.

In fact, without having professional trainers, suitable places to practice, enough funds to improve, it will be very hard for players in such countries to complete, even the talented ones won't sustain a lot due to financial difficulties and sometimes costly self funding.. I always questioning why India the second most populous country in the world doesn't compete in Olympics games like Chinese are doing! 5 medals with 0 gold and 2 silver...
Some african countries made the exception in some games thanks to physiology and sometimes for having professional players training abroad.
Overall, it isn't accurate to resume the failure of a nation in one thing but multiple factors.

Interesting question. If you recall all the sports in which I know successful players from India, then I can name chess only. 11974  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cryptocurrencies price and their effect on gambling industry on: August 05, 2021, 10:07:30 PM
Therefore do not store too many assets on too many gambling sites if you are not sure about their safety. Simply save, and withdraw assets in the fiat form of each country. The most important thing is that you gamble in comfortable conditions without any interference against your own will. And usually Casinos provide certain limits for gamblers who have a fairly large balance.

If you are not engaged in betting arbitrage, then I do not see any reason at all to keep any assets in a casino. If you want to gamble, just put your money in there and do it, what's the point of risking your money and keeping it in the casino? Problems can arise unexpectedly and at any time - for example, claims from regulators can significantly increase the withdrawal period and spoil your nerves.
11975  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sexy casinos on: August 05, 2021, 10:03:46 PM
They wouldn't be putting those girls and alcohol for no reason and of course it would really be putting the player into its disadvantage specially that people who are excessively drunk will really be having

problems when it comes to their decisioning towards their gambling activity. In result? it would a loss and that would be an added revenue to the house and same goes to those sexy girls

in the casino which they would be adding some attraction to the players neither giving out some good ambiance or view or would be totally be a distraction on some.

On the one hand, beautiful girls really act against the interests of gamblers, on the other hand, hardly any of the gamblers will protest about this. It is a voluntary decision to be distracted by them or to be completely focused on the game. Plus, it seems to me that most casino visitors initially treat everything that happens inside as entertainment - both to the game and to gawk at something beautiful.
11976  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will physical casinos accept crypto someday? on: August 05, 2021, 05:16:34 PM
Ny KYC can be easily implemented on fiat but no one will ever do that, instead, KYC is implemented on almost everything and bitcoin being the cryptocurrency doesn't mean that it will be KYC free. Every government knows what cryptocurrencies are and what's their purpose, so, don't expect that you'll keep your anonimity while using the crypto. There are some casinos going to accept it but as the demand on it grows in real life casinos cases, then I believe they'll start work in it with the government to accept them in a regulated way. You'll be verified and then you'll be able to use bitcoin, I guess...

By the way, the use of cryptocurrency in a physical casino, even without KYC, will seriously damage the anonymity of the player - there are video cameras, face recognition systems, etc. everywhere. therefore, in the end, the casino will at least be able to link bitcoin wallets to certain people.
11977  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr - August 21 on: August 05, 2021, 05:11:44 PM
If Pacquiao has the most important advantage, why isn't he the favorite in this fight? Bookmakers are ready to answer with money for their analysis and they give a clear preference to Spence.
Sometimes I am very sorry that in sports we always see single results and cannot assess the overall picture. Sometimes a random event happens, but in the absence of others, we recognize it as natural. I think if Pacquiao wins it will be something similar.

Pacman is the underdog because Errol Spence is younger, bigger, stronger and Pacman has not been active in boxig after his fight versus Keith Thruman. Spence is also presently higher than Pacman in the best boxer pound for pound rankings.

However, you question Pacman’s speed hehe. You can watch Pacman’s heavy bag training on youtube and compare this with Spence heavy bag training.

The speed of working on a heavy bag is very dependent on the impact force you put into it. I think I can’t appreciate it from the video. In addition, watching the video will not give an answer about what state the boxers will be in on the day of the fight (it is always easier for the young to prepare, so Spence has an advantage here too).
11978  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽UEFA Champions League Discussion Thread -- now at: 21/22 3rd Qualifying Round on: August 05, 2021, 05:06:34 PM
Spartak Moscow have started the League and of course it's a different condition and also, the quality of these two teams has a real difference I think. As for Benfica starting the season this weekend in fact, Spartak Moscow have the same schedule and in fact, they are already preoccupied with the already running faster League. That's what I say these two teams have different conditions, with Benfica's better quality and more favorable timing then of course Benfica will be able to win against Spartak Moscow in the first leg and maybe in the second, even though a draw is enough for him.

Benfica has already won the first match in this confrontation (yesterday) and with a handicap of two goals in reserve and playing at home, most likely it has already guaranteed itself an exit to the next round. Theoretically, a miracle can happen and Spartak will score two goals in the return leg, but after the first game it's hard to believe.
11979  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: signs of gambling addiction on: August 05, 2021, 05:01:03 PM
Wow. 20% is a huge part of the income in my opinion. I think you really love gambling if you are willing to spend that portion. And to be honest (maybe I’m from a poor country and don’t understand something  Grin ) I cannot imagine the structure of expenses where gambling would take 20%. There should probably always be more important spending than this entertainment.
Less or more 20% on your monthly income wouldnt matter as long you do able to sustain yourself and since people does have different situation in terms of income and spending or lifestyle depending on where
you do lived.

20% is indeed a big portion into your monthly income which it should be less if you do really mind on prioritizing over things than with gambling.

Addiction is only happening when you are spending way more than in your limit. It wouldnt matter what percentage as long you do have the limit.

I see one reasonable option for spending such a large part of income on gambling - if a person has huge savings and current income does not have much influence on his life, then if he wants, he can even spend 100 percent on gambling. All other options look dubious to me, although I am not saying that this is an addiction, just a wrong decision (in my subjective opinion).
