11981  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 15, 2020, 03:58:34 AM
You are right. Organizing the Ranji Trophy is more challenging than hosting the World Cup. Because around 10 teams participate in the World Cup. But 38 teams participated in the Ranji Trophy last year. Thousands of people will be involved in this game. And the risk of coronavirus infection is even higher. So I don't think BCCI will decide to host Ranji Trophy now.

The T20 World Cup involves a total of 16 teams, and out of that 12 teams take part in the second phase (i.e the main tournament). Although Ranji Trophy involves a greater number of teams, there is no need for international travel, and in most cases the squad can be transported by road. And most importantly, the number of new COVID 19 cases has been on the decline in India.
11982  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2020 US Presidential Election | Trump vs Biden on: December 15, 2020, 03:46:15 AM
Looks to be a straightforward Electoral College vote... Biden takes the required votes.

It was just a formality. The results were known many weeks before. And this time the margin of victory was not that thin, unlike the case we had in 2000 (when the election was decided based on the outcome from a single state - Florida, where the winning margin was just 0.009% or 537 votes). Theoretically there is a chance of faithless electors, but in real life it seldom occurs.
11983  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ]: Boxing - Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev - JOSHUA WINS IN ROUND 9 on: December 15, 2020, 03:34:11 AM
Joshua has changed since that lose to Andy Ruiz and for me that's the right thing to do. Some said that how can a fighter who was not even impressive on this prime and at old age will be Anthony Joshua  Smiley but my argument here is that there is always that one lucky punch that can change the outcome of the fight just like the fight between Whyte and Povetkin.

That may be true, but most of the gambling sites have Tyson Fury as the favorite in a potential fight between him and Joshua. Joshua's knockout victory against Kubrat Pulev doesn't seems to have changed much. Betfair has Joshua at 11/8, compared to Fury at 4/7, and the odds have remained at this level for the past few weeks. I would rather give equal odds to both the boxers and that means that right now it is more attractive to bet in favor of Joshua.
11984  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 15, 2020, 03:24:58 AM
There is just 2 days before the first test match between Australia and India starts and the Australian selectors have some big decisions to make. There is talk that Marnus Labuschagne might open the batting as Warner is out injured and Will Pucovski is out with a concussion while another opener Joe Burns is  out of form, averaging less than seven runs this season. I think this first test will be a close fought test match even though Australia has a lot more experience playing in day/night test matches.

Labuschagne is a good player, but I don't think that he will be the suitable person to open batting for Australia. From what I have seen, he's more comfortable at no.3 or no.4 positions, or even further down the order. During the Sheffield Shield competition also he was batting at no.3 for his domestic side (Queensland Bulls). Why can't Marcus Harris or Tim Paine open the batting?
11985  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cambodia enacts new laws related to gambling. on: December 14, 2020, 05:43:02 AM
Behind the people who are getting luck on betting, many people are losing their money, whether it's the poorest or even people who have money. But not all people willing to pay taxes, especially if they come from the gambling industry, because they think that I already pay taxes, and I don't need to pay another tax anymore. However, when the government uses the regulations about gambling, all people who are playing gambling need to follow and pay the taxes based on the government's amount.

Obviously when someone gambles and win a bet, someone else is losing his money. It is similar to cryptocurrency trading. That said, a lot of these gamblers are individuals who received money through illegal means. When they indulge in gambling, some of this money gets distributed to hard working people, in the form of taxes and casino charges. So you don't need to worry too much about people losing money as a result of gambling. Obviously there are ordinary people who gets addicted to gambling and get their lives ruined as a result of it. But their behavior should not be used to attack the gambling industry.
11986  Economy / Economics / Re: 2021 not Looking good on: December 14, 2020, 05:13:53 AM
With the rise of bitcoin prices, it now looks like 2021 will be a good year for cryptocurrencies. Economic activities of all countries of the world are stopped for quarantine. What you don't see after that is that production is now active. Commodity prices will rise, the economy will collapse but nothing will stop. It's too late for the situation you're thinking about.

Keep your expectations low, and you won't be disappointed. So far in 2020, the Bitcoin prices have rallied by almost 100%. Ethereum has risen by 400%. Now you can't expect the same thing to happen year after year. At some point, there will be profit booking from the part of the cryptocurrency users and that will result in corrections. But in the long term, we can expect the prices to go upward.
11987  Economy / Economics / Re: IF USDT would collapse what do you think will happen to the BTC price? on: December 14, 2020, 04:55:57 AM
To be honest, it's hard to imagine this will happen, because the foundation of the stablecoin itself is backed up with the original value of USD. maybe there will also be regulations governing stablecoins in 2021, but imagining a USDT colapse is almost inconceivable, and might lead to a massive decline in trust in crypto.

USDT was very close to a collapse in 2019, when the New York Attorney General (NYAG) launched an enquiry directed at a cover-up that involved $850 million loss at Crypto Capital. It was later proved that reserve funds from Tether (USDT) were used to cover the shortfall, which resulted from these losses. In the mainstream market, this would have resulted in the complete destruction of the asset. But on the other hand, Tether actually managed to increase its market cap from $4 billion in 2019, to $20 billion as of now, and the incident had hardly any impact on the Bitcoin exchange rates.
11988  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] 2020, your last chance of owning 1 BTC on: December 14, 2020, 04:40:04 AM
I was lucky to venture in to the cryptocurrency sector during the initial phase (2014). As a result, I was able to earn much more than BTC1 through various signature campaigns and giveaways. But it is not possible now to earn that much from signature campaigns and bounties. On average, these campaigns currently pay less than BTC0.20 per year.

So for the new users, the only way of owning more than 1 BTC is to convert some of their other assets to BTC. And this can be a very difficult decision to make, given the volatility of the Bitcoin prices.

I have been in that situation as well, but I was not able to keep my 1 bitcoin, I trade it with altcoins and shit happens. However, I don't regret as I was able to invest on a business in real life, now my goal is to start hunting for 1 bitcoin but I will not make it this year, that's for sure.

You don't need to make (or rather earn) 1 BTC. You can always convert some of your other assets to Bitcoin. Obviously this is a step which the vast majority of the users don't want to take, because they know that Bitcoin is a high-risk asset. But if you check the history, then you can see that those who took the risk got rewarded in the end, and that too very handsomely.
11989  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adult companies and bitcoin? on: December 14, 2020, 04:26:59 AM
Pornhub has been accused of filming unconscious women 👩 getting fucked.

It is defined as rape since the woman 👩 can not give consent.

I think trying to use pornhub on the downlow with tor and btc is going to a lot people fucked harder then the unconscious women that were filmed being fucked or raped.

One or two isolated incidents used to target an online video streaming site, which has millions of videos. The video mentioned here was uploaded by one of the users and the allegation is that Pornhub didn't suspended the user and deleted the video soon enough. How can they do that without proper investigation? What going on now is just another witch hunt by radical Christian organizations, who want to ban porn.
11990  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would you sell your BTC for $100 000, and never go back to the game again? on: December 14, 2020, 04:01:39 AM
With my current coin holding, I would be able to procure a decent amount in case I sell them for $100,000 per coin. And since I am residing in India, where cost of living is quite low, I will be able to purchase a decent house with that amount (currently I am living in rented accommodation). But still I need to find a full-time job, to support my expenses, as the remainder of what I have after purchasing the house will not last too long.
11991  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cambodia enacts new laws related to gambling. on: December 14, 2020, 03:40:14 AM
Despite a very high level of corruption, Cambodia has recently developed at a fairly rapid pace. Foreigners are happy to invest in the economy of Cambodia. Who knows maybe soon Cambodia will become one of the most famous places where millions of tourists will come for gambling.

Foreigners are flocking to invest in Cambodia, because the real estate market is underpriced and the labor is extremely cheap. And given the recent economic growth, we can expect any business venture set up within the next few years to give very high returns during the next decade or so. But then overtaking Macau or Hong Kong as gambling destination will be a very tough task.
11992  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2020 US Presidential Election | Trump vs Biden on: December 14, 2020, 03:29:11 AM
In a few hours from now, the US Electoral College will confirm Joe Biden as the president of the United States, and within one month he is going to take charge. Trump is still refusing to acknowledge his defeat, but seems to have softened his stance recently. The lawsuits will go on for many months (or even years), but they will make no difference to the outcome. I am glad that almost all of the gambling sites have processed the results, rather than keeping their customers waiting.
11993  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: December 14, 2020, 03:19:04 AM
The main accusation against Kohli is that he does not take any tactical decisions if things are not going your way, the team wins because of his aggressive approach and the way in which he leads the team from the front scoring runs and on their day they will defeat any team in the world and the upcoming world cup will be a big test for Kohli as a captain in T20 internationals.

The 2021 T20 World Cup will be conducted in India and that should give a huge advantage to Kohli & Co. But if India's performance is less than satisfactory in that tournament, then I expect the BCCI to take some tough decisions, including making Rohit Sharma the captain for the shorter format. Aggression on the field needs to be backed up with performance. If Kohli is not capable of that, then someone else needs to be given the responsibility.
11994  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: December 14, 2020, 03:08:54 AM
Players has been mostly called off from franchise games when they need to play for their national team. And like any other sports, cricket is becoming more like an commercial club based sports. The number of national tours are on decline. Test cricket are on verge of disappearing. And the only time when people care about national teams playing is the world cup.

In the past, the West Indian players have refused to report to the national duty, while participating in the foreign T20 leagues. And this has been one of the reasons why their performance is so poor. But I agree with the second part of your post. Interest in test cricket is decreasing (especially outside the big 3 nations). No one really cares, when teams such as West Indies and Sri Lanka play test cricket.
11995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Investing 1$ every day in bitcoin over the last five years on: December 13, 2020, 04:40:11 AM
What if you also not just invest any time but you try to buy the dips could it help ?

If it was so simple, then everyone would have done that and become millionaires. Ideally, it is never recommended to purchase any asset, when it's price is falling. In the stock market, there is even a saying which goes like this: "Don't catch a falling knife". The purchase should be done when the recovery phase is going on, and not when the prices are falling like a rock. But then, there are several strategies, and purchasing for a fixed amount every day is one of them.
11996  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-12-12]Another Billionaire Wall Street Legend Has Changed His Tune On BTC on: December 13, 2020, 04:26:10 AM
It is not surprising that more and more billionaires and Wall Street giants are flocking to Bitcoin, when the prices are going up. During the last one and half years, the prices have gone up by more than 400%. But at the same time, it would the interesting to know what would be their reaction, if a major correction occurs and the exchange rates go down by 50%-60%. Will their opinion on Bitcoin change if something like that happens?
11997  Economy / Economics / Re: Pandemic will bring more economic progress in long-term... on: December 13, 2020, 04:16:44 AM
Despite the long-term effects of the epidemic on the economy the world economy is improving. People in all countries of the world have learned to prevent this epidemic. Everyone is adapting to the epidemic and the standard of living is improving a lot. The economic situation seems to be related to the extent of the epidemic. Again a lot depends on human activities. Even though many people lost their jobs during the epidemic the companies are changing their situation again. The epidemic is changing the course of the world with long-term economic progress and technological advancement.

There is no doubt that the Economy is growing, despite the pandemic. If you look at the stock market indices, then it is clear. But this growth is not uniform across the sectors. For example, tourism and airline sectors are in very bad shape. On the other hand, online retailers such as Amazon have managed to achieve ATH levels, partly due to increased demand that resulted from the pandemic.
11998  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the longest you have waited for one confirmation?? on: December 13, 2020, 04:06:35 AM
A few months back, I had to wait for 3 days to get a single confirmation. I was using the Blockchain.com wallet and I put the default fee which was suggested by them. But as soon as I made the transaction, the Mempool size started increasing. The transaction got stuck, and I was left frustrated and angry. I felt bad, because I had put the default fee rather than my own customized fee. Anyway, in the end it got confirmed after three days of wait.
11999  Economy / Economics / Re: PayPal to allow cryptocurrency buying, selling and shopping on its network on: December 13, 2020, 03:55:29 AM
PayPal has proved that the glass ceiling can be broken and Bitcoin can be integrated with mainstream payment processors. And this will encourage other mainstream businesses such as Visa to venture in to the cryptocurrency sector. But 2021 is going to be every crucial, because the actual outcome of the PayPal adoption will be known only by then. Once it is confirmed as a success, more and more companies will venture in to cryptocurrency.
If integration into the main payment systems is expressed in the form of bitcoin transactions through the internal PayPal system, then I am not sure that this is exactly breaking the glass ceiling. I agree that the use of such a huge payment system as PayPal played a very big role in the growth of the exchange rate and, accordingly, the capitalization of bitcoin, but the bitcoin transaction system itself seems to be left out and I think this may happen in the case of other payment systems. I'm afraid that no matter what happens, major payment systems will digest bitcoin and then put it on the back burner, thereby almost destroying the competitor.

Right now, I would say that internal transactions through the PayPal platform is better than direct payments with Bitcoin, as it doesn't involve huge transaction fee and lengthy delays (of up to 1 hour). It is just like other third party payment processors such as BiyPay. For those who want to make direct transactions with Bitcoin, they can still do that with their online BTC wallet.
12000  Economy / Economics / Re: Cause of Covid Vaccine and it's Value on: December 13, 2020, 03:45:44 AM
Factor that needs to consider before allowing this vaccine.

We don't know yet the after effect of this vaccine, people have different immune system the reactions of the body is very important before allowing everyone to take the shot, though every government are hoping that this vaccine will really help everyone and they are trying to buy not to be left behind,.

Most of the vaccines have completed their phase III clinical trials, involving tens of thousands of people and the side-effects are well documented. You may not know the after effects of the vaccine, and that is because you haven't read about the Phase III trial results. Now the only question is about the availability and storage. Some of the vaccines needs to be stored at -70 degrees, and that can be challenging.
