Oh BLK, what did they do to you??

Monero pair is adding huge pressure on the coin on poloniex.
BLK/XMR + Polo = bad for the price

But on the other hand, more cheap coins for those that want to buy in and missed the last few trains to moon.

@Rat4
Does Blackcoin have BIP65 and OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY?I`m trying to make a list of coins what can be traded on Blocknet DX  decentralized exchange. If Blackcoin has BIP65,it can be traded on DX.
Cheers!

This would really be great, help getting rid of the weight on the price from polonimads

After reading about the issue of address reuse I think it wouldn't be that bad if accounts were used more (with different addresses). If you mean the same type of accounts here.

Account is a reusable address with its downsides.

Yeah that's what I thought, so you'd need to have to generate new accounts frequently to prevent address reuse. Maybe an approach for PoS v5 that's more "under the hood" and doesn't bother users too much (because users will do mistakes) is the better way
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: June 28, 2017, 10:35:46 PM
I'm working on v5  Wink

Some progress there... It needs accounts, as opposed to UTXOs.
But there's a difficult question: UTXOs and accounts, or only accounts?

After reading about the issue of address reuse I think it wouldn't be that bad if accounts were used more (with different addresses). If you mean the same type of accounts here. But then it also has to have some kind of usability, so having that - what ever - running in the background would probably preferrable.

Btw great seeing you active and alife!

Can I mine this or only POS now?

It was always PoS only, since 2014. That's one of the main points of this coin: To provide a stable, decentralized, PoS-only currency.

Only way to mine is is via prohashing.com where you can set Blackcoin payouts among other coins.

Isnt Raspberry less then the average android phone, is it not feasible to stake from a phone.   I dont use mobile alot but I'm just thinking of all those people with expensive phones and its basically a computer, maybe their only one.  Its  mobile connection would be most of the reason why maybe.

Yes, but you don't want to run around with 10,000 USD in your pocket any time, especially not on a phone that connects to different networks that you don't know.

A Raspi you can install on your own, secure it in your network and let it run on low power consumption under your desk or in a closet. You can access it via VNC or with the WebGUI, what ever you like more.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: June 27, 2017, 04:48:56 PM
I think it was not yet posted here: We are trying to bring Blackcoin on Raspi. Because raspi doesn't use more than 5 watts of power (like 3 watts idle), is small and flexible it's an ideal device to have your wallet staking on it. Help securing the network and earn reward for very low energy cost compared to mining.

So we tried to write up some tutorials how to do it, also I have been working on a WebGUI you can use to access your coins, if you want to go headless.

Get the tutorials and codes here:

Agreed, slack is horrible for bringing traffic. We need more posts here because they show up in search engines forever.

Slack is fine and is indexed in search engine, there is a bot which does it on purpose, everything you say will show up in search engines forever. Wink

I also think slack works fine. And it is also a channel where those who do not know blackcoin can have access to a lot of information, we always have the help and attention of veterans janko33, blackstat, and the others (are many) Grin.

I learn a lot there. We need to attract more people to Slack. Is more dynamic Wink

Hey guys, I am interesting in BLK.

How is the stake/harvest working? should I just put minimum amount of BLK's on my wallet and I can an annual fee's?
Do I need to keep wallet open ?

There are 1.5 each block, and anual interest are, depending on network weight (all staking wallets), 1-8%
That means, you will get that percent of your balance per year as block reward. There is no minimum but if you had, let's say 150 BLK and there is 1% interest, you'd get one block per year, with 1500 BLK 10 blocks and so on.
However at the moment the reward is more like 5%, so 150 BLK would create like 5 Blocks per year.

Anyone a solution?

For some reason, that file conversion/cast.hpp is not where it should be.
The compiler is asked to include that file and fails because the name of the directory is wrong.
That's very strange. I would try to download and unpack the archive again.

The problem appears to be in libboost, not in Blackcoin. You should uninstall boost library and reinstall.

There's quite a selloff in BTC but also ETH is losing some. BLK lost some too but holding relatively well still, especially in Chinese market.

big PoS boom... BLK, bts, nxt up.  congrats folks Cool

I am ambivalent with this, on the one hand I like that we remain a rather higher level after the latest hickups in the markets yesterday but on the other hand... I also want to buy more
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: June 12, 2017, 05:23:09 PM
Maybe try an alternate wallet, import it into Blackhalo? Just to isolate the problem.

i think is my noobines... i don't feel to confortable with the console..
old walet and richlist show correct amount. i just don't get how to rescan that would probably solve the problem...

but the console tells me: method not found. i fear i type st wrong...
i triied help, several possibilities but don't get why the debugconsole isn't takin what i type in...

so if someone could just tell me waht i have to type to do that rescan i would be very greatfull...

thank you guys again and also again in advance...  Cheesy

Here's how I did the rescan (if you are on windows):
Click Start
Type "cmd"
cd to C:\<directory where your lore is installed>\Lore-qt.exe -rescan

hi guys,

since i updated to lore im missing some coins. searched for but didn't find a solution.
what do i need to type into the console? reindex didn't do the trick...

thx in advance for your fast reply, dear community  Kiss

sincerly

tahou

edit: triied dumpwallet and reimport... if i did it right, it didn't work... richlist is showing correct balance, so im easy, but would be happy to have it solved..

thx again 4 any support...

Hi. Is your wallet on the correct block?
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BLK/BC) | PoS | No ICO on: June 12, 2017, 07:09:46 AM
My wallet has stopped synchronizing. 2,23GB

I am using current wallet 1.2.4

What is the solution to this?

wallet
http://imgur.com/FDaTlaG

You appear to be fully synchronized and staking, looks like it's working fine according to that screenshot.

I opened it and closed it several times, it is still in the same block

When I open the blackcoin client, it gets slow when opening, when the client is open, the nodes move, but the blocks do not

Have you tried resyncing?

The lore wallet client is a mess. After i installed it and it synced, it showed 0 balance. Then i imported my private keys from blackcoin 1.2.4 and saw my real balance in the lore wallet. However, every time i open the lore wallet i get this message " Error reading wallet.dat! all keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect", then it syncs and i have my amount. I went to open my Bitcoin wallet and i received the same message "Error reading wallet.dat! all keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect" on my BITCOIN wallet, that never happened before, it also said "error loading block database, do you want to rebuild the block database?" Then it took a while to open and it showed my bitcoin wallet 8 years behind, when it was up to date like a week ago...

A debug log from your Blackcoin application directory is needed, A second release is being prepared which will be more tested, open beta.
Can you get on slack, I will try resolve issues. This has not happened during testing phase, but yeah, every pc setup is unique.. that's why the next release will be a public beta. Original or reference client, which is a fresh release too, still works.

I don't have the debug, because I got annoyed it messed with my bitcoin wallet.dat so I transferred all my blackcoin to poloniex and deleted everything. I had to replace my bitcoin wallet with an old backup copy and resync my bitcoin core.

How did this mess with your bitcoin wallet appear? They both should use different work directories each.

The issue you reporting with "Error reading wallet.dat! all keys read correctly, but transaction data or address book entries might be missing or incorrect" is true however. I get that too. But the wallet seems to work nonetheless (I have several different coin wallets installed too).

But what issues could that cause? Is there a list of caveats for incompatible db?

"If you do not care about wallet compatibility, pass --with-incompatible-bdb to configure."

What does that mean?
That means that you can't use the wallet.dat file with any version of Bitcoin Core compiled with a version of BDB that is different from yours. You wouldn't be able to switch to using the officially released binaries without creating a new wallet. Nor can you upgrade your version of BDB without creating a new wallet. This is all because BDB is incompatible with other versions of BDB, even between minor versions.

Yeah I just learned that Berkeley DB is used for the wallet.dat
This works for a fresh installation but not if you want to use your old wallet.dat

Which makes this solution to the DB issue rather awkward.

Unless however there was a converter for the wallet.dat file...

Went to bittylicious to buy a few blk - Sorry, there are no Blackcoins available to buy at present.

Choose another virtual currency from the drop down list above.

There are some available at litebit.

Maybe you could also tell them (bittylicious) to fill up their stock.

It really isn't that hard to do. There are explicit instructions right in the repo: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md

The reason that BDB 4.8 is still used is because changing the version to anything else will completely break backwards compatibility. Anyways, you don't have to use BDB 4.8, just configure with the --incompatible-bdb option.

Yes, I used that guide. It still doesn't work.
Care to explain where the problem is?

Code:
./configure CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/include -O2" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/lib"

checking for Berkeley DB C++ headers... no

Honestly, why is compiling Bitcoin still such a pain in the ass?

It still uses the old freaking BerkeleyDB.4.8 and the internet is full of people having issues to compile this thing because of these freaking damn libraries. Literally every freaking bitcoin client and altcoin has this problem

It's 2017 guys why on earth can't we just use a DB library thats included in ACTUAL MODERN SYSTEM repositories?

Yes I downloaded that old version from Oracle.-
Yes I compiled it
Yes I installed it
YES I FREAKING TRIED TO CONFIGURE IT WITH THE LIB PATH
 ./configure CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/include -O2" LDFLAGS="-L/usr/local/BerkeleyDB.4.8/lib"

NO IT STILL DOESNT RUN

FFS

Berkeley DB is at version 6.2.32

I'm giving $50 in BTC for a new ANN design

The existing one looks like a shitcoin ANN from 2014.

You want to dump your bags, but you can't get a proper ANN.

EDIT: If more than 1 user decides to do this, there will be a voting to decide which ANN design is more suitable.
Winner gets $50 in BTC.

I second that. It needs an update. I would donate too
