121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Dwarf FPGA – the anti-ASIC on: May 29, 2018, 06:42:46 PM
How is this FGPA able to have almost twice the power efficiency of Watts-to-hashes compared to the Antminer X3?  Generally ASICs are way more power efficient than FGPAs.

How is this coin still worth almost $600m??

What date is "day 45"?  If you count April 20+45 days that would be about June 5th.  So you're committing to that now?  And for the full release, not some kind of alpha.

A little skepticism is always prudent in crypto, but you seem to be taking this awfully personally. What are you going to do if DERO does a beta release on June 10th? Point on the sexual molestation doll where DERO hurt you?  Roll Eyes

Just trying to get some actual facts here.  Is that a problem, fanboi?

If you notice, the Dero lead has seen my question and chose not to respond.  Instead he "lol"ed your stupid comment.  Says a lot for this project.

I'll ask again:  When is the full Atlantis release going to be live (the full release, not an alpha or even a beta)?  Including posting of source code.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO FIRST SSL BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: May 25, 2018, 10:30:43 AM
So it's come to my attention that people feel we've missed our schedule or pushed it back for Atlantis.

We are still on track to launch on day #45

The monthly update #2 came 30 days after the first one and said 15 days 🙂

No worries, nothing has changed!

Is there any rule action that will execute a batch file on a remote rig?  I'm not seeing any way to do it but maybe I'm missing it.

DERO-Atlantis few features:
https://forum.dero.io/t/dero-monthly-update/446

It is said that the current PoW cann't prevent block withholding attack(Selfish mining).
DERO - Atlantis is upgrading existing existing block chain technology

Block time of ~3 seconds
500 TPS
No orphan blocks
ASIC resistant new algo,,,,,,

Stock price is very cheap though.

They've already backed off their claim of 3 seconds (under the pretense that they can do it they just don't see the need to do it right now).  I suspect they are having trouble meeting that goal and when Atlantis launches all references to "3 seconds" will mysteriously vanish.

As far as "no orphans" goes, we'll see, myself I'm highly skeptical.  Pretty sure that would be a first in cryptocurrency PoW systems.  If anyone knows of any other coin that can do this please chime in.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - if not, please point me in the right direction.

At the time of writing this, it is now 43 hours since I sent 10 Dero, and the amount does still not appear on the exchange I sent it to. The blockchain explorer at https://explorer.dero.io/ says the transaction has 857 confirmations - and still counting. Does this sound right? Looking at more recent transactions, I see maximum 20 confirmations. When can I assume my transaction will be completely confirmed?

This is my first Dero transaction, and I'm quite disappointed about it.

This is always exchange software problem. It is common with many coins and depends on the exchange backend. Some exchanges can get overloaded if many new people join. But sending Deros across the network has always been very fast.
Thanks for chiming in. I contacted stocks.exchange support, and they're taking a look.

I just don't understand why it can be the recipient's problem, since transactions are approved by nodes in the network. Unless the exchanges' node is messing things up, so the transaction won't complete? Can anyone explain please?

If the transaction is on the blockchain then it HAS to be the recipient's problem.  They are simply not syncing their wallet to the blockchain or have some other back end issue.  The only other explanation is you sent it to some other address by mistake so you are looking in the wrong place.

I like the simple Cli wallet, gives me a feel of being more in control. I will take that over the new Monero GUI anyday.

Good grief.  Guess you aren't aware that Monero has a CLI wallet also.

He said "NEW" and GUI, so I imagine he does know that.

Not sure how you conflated the two things.

Yeah the "simple cli wallet" is found in many coins and the Monero GUI is an example of how to not make a GUI wallet in 2018. But it seems that some people come here to FUD and are overly sensitive when Monero is mentioned, strange...

He called the Dero CLI wallet "simple".  And Dero doesn't even have a GUI wallet yet.

You know decent projects have GUI wallets right away. Most developers are able to make them in a couple days. I never understood why Dero wanted to wait until Q2. Six months after starting the project. Maybe they are making a wallet that will blow our minds, maybe they wanted to wait until Atlantis, but who knows. Six months is a long time.

Have you tried the command line wallet for Dero?  It is a big improvement on the regular CN CLI wallets.  Significantly more user-friendly, with a menu system, and useful functions (such as transferring entire wallet balance with automatic fee calculation instead of endless fiddling with the amount).

Isn't that what the sweep all command is for?

Monero and Dero lol its a Monero Copy?!

Yeah, you should move on to another project.

In fact, it not complete true, DERO is a copy of Cryptonite algorithm (Monero Project) and Criptonote Protocol. Both are written in the language C++. However, CapDero had rewrite the entire code in the language GO (GOLANG). Is important to understand what GO is, and its benefits, to see the differences. (please google it)

There are a lot of more technical explanations but this is the simple one. I think the principal benefit is that GO was entirely made to run faster applications in cluod systems and was created to resolve problems of communication that google has in cluod computing. And the reason DERO will be better than anyone for now is  that it will have the faster communications system and transactions in the network compare to the others.

This are the key features of the project posted but the official team:

•   DERO is a completely new and unique CryptoNote blockchain written in Golang
•   DERO is the first blockchain to have complete SSL in the P2P layer
•   DERO will be the first CryptoNote blockchain to have 500 transactions per second on its native blockchain without any lightning networks, validators or off-blockchain solutions
•   DERO will be first CryptoNote blockchain to have smart contracts on its native chain without any extra layers or secondary blockchains
•   CryptoNote privacy
•   Smart contracts
•   Atomic swaps
•   Mobile and offline wallets
•   Lightweight wallets
•   Subaddresses
•   Escrow services on the blockchain
•   Address signing and certifying
•   Voting on a private blockchain

Hope that with this you  judge better the project

Problems Google has with cloud computing?  What the hell does that have to do with a cryptocurrency?

You don't get faster than C++.  The only reason Dero was rewritten was so they could close source it.  If they hadn't rewritten it they would have had to keep it open source or violate the licensing.

3 second blocks and no orphans.  Does anyone believe this?

Another quote for the books.

The FUD is strong with these young padawans.

It's valid FUD until proven that they can do it.  I especially want to see how they overcome the "no orphans" problem.

Anonymous developers, closed source, insane promises.  This is fine.  Keep up the (blind) faith.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] DERO FIRST SSL BLOCKCHAIN: CryptoNote Privacy + Smart Contracts on: May 15, 2018, 11:13:14 PM

Or you can choose to support the network by continuing to mine.   Grin  Apparently, that is poor business advice though.

So cryptocurrencies are worthy of our charity, now? I ask this (rhetorical) question because it costs me $0.86/day to run my 1.9kH/s cryptonight rig which would only bring in $0.30 in DERO...

Also, my rinky-dink 1.9kH/s would hardly be noticed on a >300MH/s network, so I think it's safe to say the DERO network isn't missing me too much.

Finally, keep in mind that EVERY crypto relies on small time CPU and GPU miners to get started; sine qua non. In my opinion, it is more a case of the coin having a responsibility to support us, rather than the other way around.

I long since gave up mining DERO, but I am somewhat hopeful that the Atlantis release will justify the choice to not fork off the CN ASICs. Consequently, DERO still has my support in the form of me not dumping my coins.

This project doesn't owe you anything and dumping your coins will only hurt you.  You can choose to support the network or not.  It's okay to be a fairweather miner.  Like I said, it is your choice.

Do you have any clue what you are talking about?

Sure, keep mining Dero on your GPUs that are paying 1/10th of what you could be making.

https://twitter.com/Serena_fox_dero/status/995022548726374400

dero is thinking about dropping cryptonote from our protocol name.

We've redesigned EVERYTHING - databases, p2p protocol, #Consensus protocol, POW, Forking, Security, Scalability, etc.

Thoughts?

Is the new POW based on cryptonote? will it be GPU mineable from the start or only cpu?

The new PoW algo is built for 3 second blocks and we had to come up with something just for Dero. No orphans and we did some other interesting stuff to reduce blockchain bloat that is seen in fast PoW block chains

3 second blocks and no orphans.  Does anyone believe this?

Why no display of confirmed (pending) balance?  Every other pool in existence has that.
137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL] XMV MoneroV mining pool on: May 08, 2018, 07:03:17 PM
Why is the minimum payout so high?  How difficult is it to change?

138  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Awesome Miner] - Powerful Windows GUI to manage and monitor up to 10000 miners on: May 07, 2018, 06:32:44 PM
Many pools use the password field for worker name instead of appending it to the user name.  Is there a way to handle that in A.M.?  If not I would suggest making it an option in the pool configuration.

This project looks promising, it looks like a better fork of Monero than some the others out there, such as SumoCoin which is struggling to get off the ground even with a large fan base.

Sumo is doing ok.  And it's Sumokoin.
