121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ethereum CAHF on: October 13, 2017, 07:53:18 AM
I found this, and surprised there isn't a lot of talk about it: http://www.cahf.co/

"CAHF chain will follow and fork existing rules of the Ethereum’s main-chain, except for issuance reduction and POS. We will maintain our POW chain which will be the Ethereum-POW chain (when Ethereum hardforks to POS)."

That means there's going to be a third Ethereum, no??
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POW tokens : Frequently asked questions on: October 13, 2017, 07:00:27 AM
sorry, so the token traded on etherdelta is the ERC20 token, but the token given in the airdrop is POW "lite" - are POW lite tokens going to be converted to POW ERC20 tokens in the future? Where do the current ERC20 tokens on Etherdelta come from?
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POW tokens : Frequently asked questions on: October 12, 2017, 05:21:46 PM
Ok I understand now, my account now says "based on live prices from etherdelta"

how to send tokens to etherdelta? nothing happens when I click on the send tab.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Bytether - 1:1 Cross-Fork of Bitcoin onto Ethereum network on: October 12, 2017, 04:09:28 AM
really interesting project!

can you give more details around how the cross-forking actually works? you said this is all done through a smart contract? so you would need to sign an eth contract and give it an eth address? are there any security issues here? and how do you prove ownership of a bitcoin address??
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POW tokens : Frequently asked questions on: October 12, 2017, 03:25:55 AM
where can we check the market price of this coin? Based on my account, it looks like my airdrop coins have nearly 4x in value now! I understand from FAQ that we can't sell this yet, but how is a market price determined then?
126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What do you think will happen with the segwit2x hardfork in November? on: October 10, 2017, 03:34:50 PM
BT2 will be pretty worthless, even BCH has more value.

BT2 will be able to process twice as much transactions at a time, shouldn't be worthless

I have been on this campaign for weeks and I still don't see my account on the signature campaign! I've followed up several times.
128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [POLL] What do you think will happen with the segwit2x hardfork in November? on: October 10, 2017, 05:54:15 AM
if we end up with BT1 and BT2 instead of bitcoin (as in one and only) then the price of both coins will decline horribly.
forks need to have a pretty high majority support to happen. otherwise they are altcoins if they have small support (like the fork of bitcoin cash) or they kill bitcoin if it is something in the middle like 50-50 support.
that's is just my opinion though!

This is what Bitfinex is calling the two coins in the case of a chain split - https://www.bitfinex.com/legal/cst/segwit2x
129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / [POLL] What do you think will happen with the segwit2x hardfork in November? on: October 10, 2017, 03:50:25 AM
BT1 is the incumbent bitcoin blockchain, BT2 is the new segwit2x one.

I have applied for the bitcointalk signature, still don't see myself in the sheet...
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen for ethereum when byzantium goes live on oct 17th? on: October 07, 2017, 10:01:49 PM
so another way of saying this is, isn't accepting this update equivalent to accepting POS, because it means accepting the difficulty time bomb?

so essentially this means that POS is noncontentious? can't people that want to mine just simply not accept, fork, and have something that they can keep mining??

Am I missing something?
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen for ethereum when byzantium goes live on oct 17th? on: October 07, 2017, 05:07:23 PM
most people say that it is non contentious and there will not be a chain split.

However, please help me understand something -- the difficulty time bomb that will be introduced in this update will help ethereum introduce POS in about a year's time -- at that time the difficulty level will become so high that essentially people would be forced to switch to POS or freeze. So wouldn't you think that some miners would still want to mine, and if they want to do that, they wouldn't accept this update which has the difficulty time bomb??
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what will happen for ethereum when byzantium goes live on oct 9th? on: October 07, 2017, 12:35:13 AM
Sorry guys, this is delayed until October 17th.

Yea from what I understand, there wouldn't be a chainsplit if everyone follows along, but there may be one if not?
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / what will happen for ethereum when byzantium goes live on oct 17th? on: October 06, 2017, 06:54:05 AM
What do you guys think will happen in the coming days to ethereum, given the metropolis upgrade? Yes, I'm wondering about what will happen to the PRICE, and also if a chain split will happen, and if Constantinople might happen shortly after Byzantium, or if it will happen in 2018...

Here's a summary of metropolis:
Metropolis is the third of four planned upgrades for ethereum upgrade, and is being done in two parts:
Byzantium - started on Sept 18th, 2017 on test networks (block 1.7m) and go live on Oct 9th
Update: delayed to Oct 17th
Constantinople - tentatively some time in 2018

upgrades introduced in Byzantium:
 - foundations for zero-knowledge proofs
 - abstractions
 - simplified programming in solidity
 - mining difficulty time bomb

138  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin playlist on youtube on: October 03, 2017, 05:28:22 AM
Thanks for the feedback and encouragement!  Smiley

I will try to make another one for Ethereum, and then maybe another one for other altcoins and cryptocurrency, as suggested

mjglqw, I'm going to watch the suggested videos and see if I will add them - they look great! It's just that my thought was to have a video that touch on each concept, rather than have a list of the greatest bitcoin videos, although that may be a good playlist as well.
139  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin playlist on youtube on: October 03, 2017, 02:34:29 AM
There is a nice but incomplete list of many documentaries and ted talk about bitcoin. Also, i did not see any videos on blockchain. But good for the start.

The idea is to get it started and people can suggest additions, and let me know if there's anything you think should be added.

I do have videos on blockchain though (I have Amanda B Johnson explaining blockchain -- the second video is called "What is a Blockchain" -- I like her explanation, simple and clear)

140  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / bitcoin playlist on youtube on: October 02, 2017, 06:02:02 AM
Hey guys,

I created a youtube playlist of bitcoin videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLpytSTL9qHACPqohn4-sPHmu0hgHSykyd

This is meant to explain how bitcoin works, and focus in on some of the key concepts, so that someone without a background on bitcoin can listen through this and understand the important parts. While there are many great videos that explain how bitcoin works in 5 minutes (and I've included a couple), I feel that there's too many concepts in bitcoin that listeners would often gloss over most of them no matter how great the video is, so I decided to pick out important concepts as videos, and just collect them all into a playlist.

Let me know what you think, and feedback is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
